Adam Schiff has released a list of Russia probe subpoenas that Intel Dems have sought but that have been blocked by Nunes and Committee Repubs:
—Don Jr.
—Cohen
—Sessions
—Lewandowski
—Bannon
—Hope Hicks
—Deutsche Bank
—Comey-Trump convo evidence
—Encrypted apps
—Comms records

Good for Schiff, use public opinion to pressure those loathsome Republicans, even more evidence for Mueller to charge Nunes of conspiring to sabotage the Russian probe.

I'm personally wondering if Hicks has already flipped. She knows she's screwed because she's on record as saying she'd get rid of the Tweets. That's obstruction of justice. She's 29. She's fucked for life if she doesn't make a deal.
I think she's already made a deal and/or Dump's people are suspicious she already has and told her to resign because they don't want to worry that she's wearing a wire.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | February 28, 2018 9:38 PM |
So is about the Donald Jr meeting and what Trump dictated as his son statement about the meeting being about adoption? Did she lie to Congress and/or Mueller about that? Did she destroy evidence?

by Anonymous | reply 21 | March 1, 2018 1:48 AM |
I wrote this a couple weeks back on a previous thread. When all is said and done, (in hopes that Mueller is able to convict a few of the mother-fuckers), Hope Hicks might come out of this the hero. The one who testified and turned states evidence. She might have already done so when Mueller interviewed her weeks ago, and was waiting for the opportunity to exit. This might have given it to her. Just conjecture.
As for casting, someone suggested Keri Russell. Good choice 20 years ago, but she's too old now. Major movie roles like this often go to Brits or Aussies. I see Margot Robbie as the chief contender, (with jet-black hair, of course).

[quote] I have a feeling that Mueller will do much better at this than Comey would have. How Ironic!
In many respects, Comey, as FBI Director, was limited as to what he could do. The FBI does not have prosecutorial authority. They investigate and recommend that criminal charges be brought. But ultimately it is up to one of the Justice Department's prosecutors to give the go-ahead. By appointing Mueller, Rosenstein knew precisely what he was doing and who he was getting: one of the nation's best prosecutors who also had served as FBI Director. A perfectly awful storm for Trump, but for the rest of us the one person who might be able to get us out of this dreadful, deplorable mess.
This is from R 557 of the last thread:
[quote] The Inspector General is a Civil Servant. My cousin was married to a guy who was a CPA, who rose through the Civil Service ranks, & was up for promotion and he was one of four candidates at the Department of Education. He didn't get it though he eventually did rise to the #2 spot as Deputy IG. The way it works is the Office of the Inspector General conducts audits of various programs in various federal agencies and departments. These audits are financial but also partially program audits. They write a report and it's all public information if some enterprising reporter wants to wade through to find it.
That is mostly accurate, but not the whole story. And, not entirely applicable to the Justice Department. Some IGs are civil servants. Others are not. The program audits are more important at other Departments and agencies where they undertake a lot of grant work that is ripe for fraud and corruption. DOJ has a much smaller grant program.
The current DOJ IG -- Mike Horowitz -- and the previous two -- Glenn Fine and Michael Bromwich -- have all been very hard-charging federal prosecutors. That is their background. They are not bean-counters. The office undertakes not just routine program audits but is called on to investigate charges of malfeasance. Bromwich and Fine were appointed by Clinton, and Horowitz was appointed by Obama. I know all three of these guys. They are straight-shooters and Horowitz will not hesitate to call out wrongdoing no matter who perpetrates it -- so no political favoritism. That said, the political inclinations of Horowitz and his predecessors are largely in line with the Presidents who appointed them.

OK. So Mueller interviews Hope in December. Then, this Porter thing blew up. She was dating him. She discovers he beats his women up. Photographs speak volumes. (Hope probably already noticed signs even if he never laid a hand on her.) Kind of one of those moments when you have an epiphany and certain things make sense.
So she breaks up with him, while at the same time trying to help defuse the situation because that's her job. She had to be a stressed out mess. So then, while this Porter crap is going on, the whole notion of security clearances explodes. Trump goes crazy and screams at her for not protecting his interests. Then he explodes at her again today? After she spent yesterday testifying before a Committee of Congress?
IMO I'd bet Hope had a Moment of Clarity. She realized her life had become dodging the FBI and serving the needs of a complete asshole piece of shit. A piece of shit who didn't even appreciate all her efforts. To all reports, Hope is respected, smart and professional. She is well liked and that's a fucking miracle.
So maybe her family a close friends told her to cut her losses and GTF out of there before she gets pulled under with all the other miscreants. After Trump yelled at her today she probably figured this is as good a time as any to give notice. He's a narcissist. He'll be fine.

R23, t your post is very helpful to understanding how DOJ works. Thanks. But one thing I'd like to add. is that the office of the IG at DOJ also very likely has financial auditing capacity. It's not only grant money, which is what my Cousin's husband did with the Dept. of Education, as you correctly pointed out, but it's also spending.
DOJ gets appropriations from Congress for various divisions, and programs and that money has to be accounted for. So financial audits are done at DOJ too. And while they may not make grants as often or in the amounts other agencies or departments do, they do make grants to state and local governments and to educational institutions regularly.
As f or your friends, Bromwich, Fne and Horowitz, I'd be interested to know what their background was. Did they get appointed from the private sector or were they already serving in govt. in some capacity. Because, as I understood it from my cousin, and I'm going back 25 years here, I was under the impression that the department submitted the names of two or three candidates and one was chosen. I just assumed the Cabinet secretary chose them , but it's possible there was input from the WH or some preference expressed. DOJ is way more sensitive than Edu. So I can understand the WH wanting to be involved.

by Anonymous | reply 33 | March 1, 2018 4:05 AM |
[quote] the IG at DOJ also very likely has financial auditing capacity.
True. I didn't mean to imply that they didn't. It is just that at some Departments and agencies the IG is an accountant who is well schooled in financial auditing. DOJ doesn't need that a much as they do elsewhere is what I was trying to explain.
The appointments for all the IGs during the Clinton administration came from the WH Office of Presidential Personnel. I assume that was the same for Bu$h. I believe it was that way for Obama. I can't recall where Bromwich was before he was appointed. Glenn Fine was in the Department and may have been in the IG's office at that point as Deputy IG. Horowitz was an Assistant U.S. Attorney from the Southern District of NY, then brought into the leadership of the Criminal Division about 1998. He may have stayed on during the Bu$h years, I don't recall.
At this point it would be difficult to be appointed the IG at DOJ and not be a lawyer. And, the greater likelihood is that you would have to have served as a federal prosecutor.

Senate Intelligence Leaders Say House G.O.P. Leaked a Senator’s Texts
The Senate Intelligence Committee has concluded that Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee were behind the leak of private text messages between the Senate panel’s top Democrat and a Russian-connected lawyer, according to two congressional officials briefed on the matter.
Senator Richard M. Burr of North Carolina, the committee’s Republican chairman, and Senator Mark Warner of Virginia, the top Democrat, were so perturbed by the leak that they demanded a rare meeting with Speaker Paul D. Ryan last month to inform him of their findings. They used the meeting with Mr. Ryan to raise broader concerns about the direction of the House Intelligence Committee under its chairman, Representative Devin Nunes of California, the officials said.
To the senators, who are overseeing what is effectively the last bipartisan investigation on Capitol Hill into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, the leak was a serious breach of protocol and a partisan attack by one intelligence committee against the other.

I hate to link to a Maggie Haberman tweet (I am not a big fan), but this one sounds especially bitchy. Frankly, it's beneath a Times reporter. Maggie, it's also clear people are going to question - not necessarily your reporting per se - but the sources from whom your reporting is originating. Their agenda is that "clearly" they must maintain that Trump's closest remaining non-familial confidante remaining in the West Wing is leaving on her own accord. Nothing to do with Russia, nothing to do with the investigation, nothing to do with her testimony, nothing to do with Mueller having her dead-to-rights on Obstruction. Yada, yada, yada. You report - your readers will draw their own conclusions.

What I love is the possibility that Mueller probably scared the piss out of Hope Hicks. In the scheme of things Hope helping write a statement for Jr. is not the most terrible crime in the world. Hope assuming "no one will know" about the e-mails referring to the meeting with the Russians is her own know-it-all stupidity. But it also tells me if she knew about the meeting, then Trump knew. The scurrying around on Air Force One to get a response written for Jr. involved Hope and Trump. He acted like he was just trying to help his son out after the fact. But he knew all along and broke his silence when they were all outed. So Hope is ripe to get flipped. Mueller is going to lean hard on her.

At least a political disaster every two days. Not to mention the ratcheted-up Twitter rage as of late. I've always assumed the West Wing rats would circle the wagons as Mueller got closer. The opposite is happening. They're fleeing the sinking ship. The attrition of top advisors during an administration's first year (plus) is staggeringly unprecedented. But these are folks at THE core of the Trump circle: Bannon, Hicks, Kushner's security clearance castration. It's blatantly obvious Mueller will eventually indict Kushner and Jr. (hopefully sooner than later). I just wonder how much stamina Trump will be able to muster. Recent events have me wondering if Cadet Bones Spurs lasts the year.

"In America, if you know an employee who you have the power to fire or punish is a witness in a pending criminal investigation—and you angrily berate them for giving truthful testimony in a mid-probe interview with the intent to change their future testimony—it's a CRIME. [...] What Trump was doing was berating a subordinate [Hope Hicks] who he knew was a witness in a pending criminal investigation (an investigation in which he is a target) for *telling the truth* about having had to lie for him on occasion. I just watched Downfall, the excellent movie about the final days of Hitler in the bunker.
There’s a scene where Hitler is demanding that non-existent troops help repel Russian forces bombing Berlin. Everyone is afraid to tell him the troops are mostly dead. He starts screaming, terrifying the secretaries that can hear the screaming through the door.
In another scene, he blames everyone but himself, and says the German people deserve to suffer and die, because they gave him the mandate to act as he did and then didn’t defeat the enemy, so they have it coming.
Both of these scenes reminded me so much of Trump. And then there’s the scene where Eva Braun’s brother in law is found to have deserted and is holed up with his mistress. He is dragged out and executed by Hitler, who says he deserves to die, even when Eva Braun begs him to spare him, because the Russians are days away and it’s pointless. He has him executed anyway, for betraying him. Family loyalty means nothing to him.
And then I wondered, is Hitler reincarnated?

Fascinating, r97 (although certainly not a surprise). Here's the article. Look for Kelly to soon yank her temporary security clearance as well. Looks like this is shaping up to be a total house-cleaning by Kelly. Pretty sure he's wanted Javanka gone since the day he took the job.

It's interesting to me that the Special Counsel's office, henceforth relatively airtight dating all the way back to last May, is now leaking like a sieve. Story after story after story about exactly what they're targeting/looking at. I wonder if this is a strategy or simply some giddy prosecutor spilling.

R105 " but the leaks appear to be coming from the people Mueller's team is interviewing/trying to interview."
When someone is subpoenaed before the grand jury, they can tell anybody they like. They're not held to secrecy. Maybe it's why we haven't heard so much about Steve Bannon's and Hope Hick's testimonies. They're incriminating and they want to bring as little attention to themselves as possible.

More shadiness:
Billionaire investor and longtime Trump confidant Carl Icahn dumped $31.3 million of stock in a company heavily dependent on steel last week, just days before Trump announced plans to impose steep tariffs on steel imports.
In a little-noticed SEC filing submitted on February 22, 2018, Icahn disclosed that he systematically sold off nearly 1 million shares of Manitowoc Company Inc. Manitowoc is a “is a leading global manufacturer of cranes and lifting solutions” and, therefore, heavily dependent on steel to make its products.
Trump’s announcement rattled the markets, with steel-dependent stocks hardest hit. Manitowoc stock plunged, losing about 6 percent of its value. Reuters attributed the drop to the fact that Manitowoc is a “major consumer of steel.”

And Cadet Bone Spurs says nothing, nada, zero, zilch. Not a peep. Reagan's bones are turning in his grave.
And yet the Orange Asshole finds time to tweet about Alec Baldwin. An actor. Doing an impersonation on a comedy sketch show. The incompetence of this corrupt cretin is stunning. I don't know whether to laugh, vomit, or scream for "Serenity now!" Maybe all three. Our president is a fucking child - and that's probably an insult to children.

The stench of corruption from this administration -- and the hypocrisy of the Rethuglicans in Congress -- is overwhelming.
Obama wore a tan suit to a press briefing, saluted a service member with a coffee cup in his hand, and put his feet up on the Resolute desk in the Oval Office all of which caused the Repukes to make him out to be a monster.
Trump and his band of felons have lied, evaded, cheated, dissembled, and broken laws left and right. And, . . . complete silence. No investigations. No hearings. Nothing. Had Hillary so much as sneezed they would have hauled everyone in her administration up to the Hill and grilled them for hours.
Despicable, the whole damn lot of Rethugs. May they all get booted out of office.

As long as Congress tolerates this, matters only get worse.

[quote] The Republican big donors need to tell their Congressional lackeys to fix this.
Not going to happen. The Rethuglicans are incapable of doing the right thing. Plus they are rudderless, amoral cowards who care about nothing but themselves. Many of them, like Nunnes, Ryan, and McConnell, are traitors who are likely complicit in the Russian interference. So they don't want to rock the boat. In general, they are frozen in place and all they can do is complain about Obama and Hillary even though the election was 18 months ago and Obama hasn't been president for over a year. Oh, and they are good at raiding the Treasury on behalf of the wealthy at the expense of the rest of us.
Notice please that during the course of the past 14 months all of those Repukes who were going to show some independence and stand up to Donald Trump did just the opposite. Every one of them caved and fell in line behind him because they thought it was better to do that than buck him and face the wrath of his much touted supporters. So, they have apparently decided to go down with the ship.
With any luck we will amble along until November without the world blowing up, when we can hope that the American public begins to save itself from this utter and complete disaster. And, yes, once again the Dems will have to come in and clean up a mess caused by the the Repubs. And fixing that mess will have to include removing Trump from office -- assuming there is a credible basis for doing so (and that's not much of a stretch because all signs point to the fact that there is plenty of malfeasance).
But getting the Rethuglicans to do that in the next nine months is akin to waiting at the station for a train that will never come.

So Putin is taunting the USA by flaunting an unstoppable nuclear missile - knowing that he has Trump by the tiny balls, who won't therefore raise a squeak of concern.
This would not appear to be a good look for any Commander-In-Chief - especially one with an ambitious love of big military parades. When soundings are taken for 'approval ratings', it's astonishing that anyone anywhere registers 'approval.' Other than those who have done well by Russian support. There's literally nothing to approve.

Have you guys read this compelling article that ties the Kushner/Qatar scandal to the Steele Dossier?
Pretty fucking shocking.
“So: A Qatari fund acquires major assets from Russia. Kushner’s business seeks money directly from Qatar. The nation, though, does not deliver to Kushner. The U.S. changes its political posture against Qatar at Kushner’s urging, with the alarming possibility that the seemingly manufactured conflict could have escalated into war. (Fortunately, it did not.) Several months later, the Qatar-backed Apollo Group delivers $184 million to Kushner.
All of this should be considered an incredible scandal in its own right, worthy of serious congressional inquiry. Once you factor in, however, the portions of this that are consistent with some of the allegations in the Steele dossier, the stories potentially become even more explosive.”

Well long term here's the problem. Jared is exposed. Yes he might go to jail for a few months. Maybe even a couple of years. But he'l come out of jail, and then what? Go back to the family business? He has torn his ass with the bankers and financial people in all these foreign countries. They don't mind dealing with shady people like Jared, but they do mind a lot of publicity and a lot of scrutiny. So Jared will see a lot of doors closed to him that would have been open if he had not gone in to "government service." As I said, long term that is a problem. Because if you're in real estate, if you're a developer, and you can't get financing, you are fucked.

True. And, when this is all over, it will likely be said about a lot of them. Many of these felons might have gotten away with their crimes had they not entered "government service" where -- especially at the highest levels -- your life and your dealings can be put under a microscope. Maybe Manafort and Gates would have gotten snared eventually, but who knows. However, right now the reason they are facing prison time is because of the special counsel who was hired to investigate Russian election meddling.

Remember the Jared was Trumps "data guru"........hes very connected to Russia and will likely spend many years in prison. With any luck, they will use asset forfeiture and clean them all out so even if they avoid serious prison time, they will be forced to live drastically different lives.....that will kill them...especially the Trump family.
I wonder what Trumps sister (the federal judge) thinks of all this....and if Trump thinks she could be an ace in the hole for him to keep him out of prison.

If he thinks that he sadly mistaken and an idiot. There is absolutely nothing she can do to keep him out of trouble with the law or out of prison. And, even if there were something she could do, she is prohibited by federal ethics laws from having anything to do with a case involving her brother.

As to Lindsey, one has not seen one word from the hawkish Senator about Putin's recent, aggressive talk about his missles. Yet, Lindsey is suggesting a pre-emptive attack on North Korea could be the right choice.
Lindsey follows the Trump line as does near all the rest of the Republicans in the Senate and Congress.

by Anonymous | reply 246 | March 4, 2018 2:09 AM |
Earlier up-thread I suggested that we might be so fortunate as to be able to amble along until November -- without any major catastrophe -- until the voters can begin to remedy the situation.
After reading this piece that the Washington Post put up late this afternoon, I think that we will be very lucky if he doesn't do something impulsive and very stupid before the year is out. Because the news isn't going to get better. And, because they have no clue how to govern, and are facing a badly divided Congress, there is nothing for him to do to change the narrative. He can't just make more speeches in airplane hangers to a handful of die-hard supporters and think everything is going to great.
They have no policy proposals or legislative changes because they are bereft of any popular solutions for real problems. All they are able to do is the keep the government barely functioning as they work to dismantle large parts of it. That won't really win you rave reviews.
In the Post's article, one of his friends suggests that Trump had "momentum" following the tax cuts and his State of the Union performance, and "they should keep that going." How incredibly simplistic and naive. News flash: they can't. The best they can hope for are a few days of respite between horrible news cycles. Plus, his "momentum" was minimal and just moved him slightly higher in his approval ratings -- but nothing to brag about.
I can't wait until they've been run out of office. The whole damn lot of them.

[quote]I have a feeling Mueller is going to speed things up. My concern is that Paul Ryan and the House ignores Mueller's findings.
I think Mueller is timing things so he will most likely be presenting his findings to a Democratic controlled congress. Manafort's trial starts in September, three weeks before election day. That's the first trial. The Dems will most likely take control of, at the very least, the House in January. That's when I expect more trials to be scheduled, especially those for more higher ups in the administration. I don't expect Mueller to present his findings to Congress until well after that. Honestly, I'm thinking Summer 2019 or early 2020.

The remarks in R245's link are of course insane, but demand some attempt at parsing.
If 'the system' is so 'rigged' - supposedly to Trump's disadvantage - why did Hillary lose? If Hillary (supposedly) lost, why is Trump so bitter? Why is he such a sore winner?
In calling attention to Bush/Iraq, he's of course saying - People think I'm bad, but I'm not as bad as that. Just look at what they did. But why as 'President' now keep harking back years to former irrelevant politicians, when you yourself hold power?
These are of course default compensations, distractions, after his his very bad week, and cluelessness about how to lead at all. The preposterous fantasy about permanent 'Presidency' is somehow to offset how close he knows Mueller is getting. A fantasy of limitless power, when current power is compromised by a serious investigation, and a foreign leader boasting of unstoppable missiles. It's all at once pathetic, and chilling.

Maybe Manafort decides he's not going to trial. Maybe he pleads out, refusesto cooperate on anything else, and goes to prison, and then Trump pardons him. Five minutes after he's pardoned he gets on a plane and heads for Eastern Europe to some place where they have no extradition treaty. While he's out of the country, after maybe a year passes he has an "accident." End of story.

Axios has reviewed a Grand Jury subpoena that Robert Mueller's team sent to a witness last month.
What Mueller is asking for:
Mueller is subpoenaing all communications — meaning emails, texts, handwritten notes, etc. — that this witness sent and received regarding the following people:
Carter Page Corey Lewandowski Donald J. Trump Hope Hicks Keith Schiller Michael Cohen Paul Manafort Rick Gates Roger Stone Steve Bannon
The subpoena asks for all communications from November 1, 2015, to the present. Notably, Trump announced his campaign for president five months earlier — on June 16, 2015.
Bottom line: In December, the president's lawyer Ty Cobb told me the White House would be free of the Mueller investigation "shortly after the first of the year absent some unforeseen delay." We know very little about what's keeping the investigators so busy, but the breadth of this subpoena means Mueller's team could easily stumble into goodies about Trump's inner circle given so many people are coughing up material. (Cobb didn't respond to a request for comment.)

She's been around since she left the Ted Cruz campaign, and is a senior advisor to DJT. Thought she had some connection to Cambridge Analytica, but she is a clever operative, and knows what lines not to cross. Despite her pro-Trump yapping spin, she may be more about personal financial interests, as opposed to being an "at all costs" Trump loyalist. Really, whose going to examine her bosom for wires?

Kelly Ann 's husband is a lawyer and he represents clients with some kind of interests connected to Russians. I read about him months ago. I was under the impression Kelly Ann had a decent relationship with Pence and had tried to ally herself with him back in the early days of the Transition to WH Staff. But Kelly Ann is a leaker no doubt about it, and she has been low profile more bcz in the first 90 days of the administration the long knives were out for her, lots of internal warfare. The fact she survived the Reince Priebus Sean Spicer debacle is a miracle. She was never viewed as a Trump person, more as an GOP establishment type. I know there was no love lost between her and Ivanka when She endorsed Ivanka's clothing line on TV and Ivanka read her out for it.

That was a bizarre claim by Ty Cobb. I think it was widely reported that he said that as a way to placate Trump. But, you have to wonder what Cobb's long-term plan was. It's March and clearly the investigation isn't "wrapping up." There are a lot more indictments, several trials, and few plea hearings to come. Maybe Cobb said it in a fit of desperation to shut up Cheetolini and is now hoping that Trump has just forgotten about it.
Given the depth, breadth, and scope of Mueller's investigation, this isn't going anywhere -- unless Trump decides to try and fire Mueller.

The New Yorker has a blockbuster article about Christopher Steele. It details every step he took to try to warn the US about Trump’s corrupt relationship with Russia.
Here’s one shocking reveal in the article.
“One subject that Steele is believed to have discussed with Mueller’s investigators is a memo that he wrote in late November, 2016, after his contract with Fusion had ended. This memo, which did not surface publicly with the others, is shorter than the rest, and is based on one source, described as “a senior Russian official.” The official said that he was merely relaying talk circulating in the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but what he’d heard was astonishing: people were saying that the Kremlin had intervened to block Trump’s initial choice for Secretary of State, Mitt Romney. (During Romney’s run for the White House in 2012, he was notably hawkish on Russia, calling it the single greatest threat to the U.S.) The memo said that the Kremlin, through unspecified channels, had asked Trump to appoint someone who would be prepared to lift Ukraine-related sanctions, and who would coöperate on security issues of interest to Russia, such as the conflict in Syria. If what the source heard was true, then a foreign power was exercising pivotal influence over U.S. foreign policy—and an incoming President.
As fantastical as the memo sounds, subsequent events could be said to support it. In a humiliating public spectacle, Trump dangled the post before Romney until early December, then rejected him. There are plenty of domestic political reasons that Trump may have turned against Romney. Trump loyalists, for instance, noted Romney’s public opposition to Trump during the campaign. Roger Stone, the longtime Trump aide, has suggested that Trump was vengefully tormenting Romney, and had never seriously considered him. (Romney declined to comment. The White House said that he was never a first choice for the role and declined to comment about any communications that the Trump team may have had with Russia on the subject.) In any case, on December 13, 2016, Trump gave Rex Tillerson, the C.E.O. of ExxonMobil, the job. The choice was a surprise to most, and a happy one in Moscow, because Tillerson’s business ties with the Kremlin were long-standing and warm. (In 2011, he brokered a historic partnership between ExxonMobil and Rosneft.) After the election, Congress imposed additional sanctions on Russia, in retaliation for its interference, but Trump and Tillerson have resisted enacting them.”
by Anonymous | reply 293 | March 5, 2018 2:23 PM |
Not to mention, Trump had never met Tillerson before appointing him SOS.......hmmm
by Anonymous | reply 294 | March 5, 2018 2:40 PM |
This entire thing still feels hopeless. I don't understand why the GOP needs Trump when Pence supports 100% of Trump's conservative policies, minus the Russian crap. Why keep him when you have a perfectly sound replacement?
Trump isn't going anywhere, even if we get the House there is no way Dems will get the Senate. But let's say we win every Senate seat in 2018, we still wont have the votes to impeach, so that asshole stays till 2020.
They only way Trump goes is if his cabinet removes him from office. Congress wont be able to do it, to many American's wont believe the evidence or simple wont care.

R295 Winning 2018 mid-term is very important because the Dems will have the power to investigate Trump and protect Mueller. Even without impeachment, the added pressure on Trump will help get him out in 2020.

John Heilemann speculates on Nicole Wallace's show that Sam Nunberg was closer to Roger Stone and may have not stopped communication with him after he was fired from the campaign. That interview transcript is the most talking-in-circles / repeat-everything-a-million-times / say-everything-while-saying-nothing bullshit I've ever seen. Nunberg has either had a mental or emotional breakdown, or he's in serious trouble and he knows it. Or both.
I can't wait to see where this goes.
by Anonymous | reply 329 | March 5, 2018 9:27 PM |
Someone called in to one of the Progressive talk shows sand speculated that Nunberg wants to get arrested because he wants protection. They believed he was scared that someone (sorry can't remember who) that was as double agent working for Britain and Russia was just mysteriously poisoned over the weekend.
They played the clip of him talking to Tapper and asking Tapper if he thought he should cooperate or not. He sounded unhinged.
Another person believes that Nunberg, who had been vocal of his praise of how the investigation was being handled was going through his emails and realized he was going to get caught having lied to Mueller.
They also played a clip of him going on and on about Stone and it sounded so fucking bizarre how protective over Stone he was but at the same time he seemed to slip and implicate him (by saying he was not going to be used to testify against Stone and get him in trouble).
by Anonymous | reply 330 | March 5, 2018 9:59 PM |

Unless the Special Prosecutor statute has special provisions anyone can challenge a subpoena. He can litigate it before a judge that it should be quashed (good luck with that) or limited in scope and/or that anything produced by the witness be submitted to chambers for an en camera review by the judge for relevance before it goes to the prosecutor.

The only show I cared about tonight was Maddow. As usual she was stellar. She had Jane Mayer on and they talked about the Steele article she wrote in the New Yorker. This is a "must read." It's as credible as Steele's Russian source. So who knows? I find it quite believable.
I spoke to a friend in the UK this morning and they said 14 former Russian spies (and members of their families) have been killed or maimed in England this past year. 14. Putin is sending a message. I imagine it's going to be hard to prove anything via a Russian source for a while.

I find the Romney thing very credible and a lot of people have been sounding the alarm about Tillerson from the word go. Cohn was really pissed off about the Tariff bullshit. What no one seems to get is that yes it's a terrible move and very bad for the economy. But it plays well to Trump's base and they love it. And right now that's all he cares about. So Trump says fuck the Kochs fuck Gary Cohn, fuck Paul Ryan, and he's not backing off from it. He’s been talking about tariffs since the freaking 90s, at least. I’m shocked it’s taken him this long to get to it. But my question is whether or not he can do it without Congress's approval, cuz Trump might not care about the Koch brothers and their ilk, but you can bet the rest of the GOP does.
As for Gary Cohn, how laudable that Trump's stance on Charlottesville was ultimately acceptable to him, but this was a bridge too far.

[quote] Counsel has reported Kellyanne Conway violated the Hatch Act on two occasions.
And deplorables on Twitter are screaming and stomping their feet calling Bob Mueller an inquisitor, a fascist and deep stater who is witch hunting Kellyanne Conway.
As if Mueller is in the Office of Special Counsel. DUH!

[quote] who is witch hunting Kellyanne Conway
But, she is, Blanche, she is.
It is a little confusing because the U.S. Office of Special Counsel is the entity charged with enforcing the Hatch Act. And, of course, Mueller is a special counsel.

Interesting development:
[quote] CNN just moved a story about George Nader. We heard about him last week. He’s a Lebanese-American businessman with some history in Washington. But he’s been sort of off the radar for more than a decade. He was involved in some way as an intermediary between Trump family members and people in the Persian Gulf. Now we hear this from CNN. He was met at Dulles airport by the FBI in January on his return from abroad. “Since then, he has been talking to Mueller’s investigators and providing information to the grand jury.”
And then:
[quote] The New York Times has its own, considerably more detailed version of this story. Here’s the more bracing version of the Dulles Airport encounter … Mr. Nader was first served with search warrants and a grand jury subpoena on Jan. 17, shortly after landing at Washington Dulles International Airport, according to two people familiar with the episode. He had intended to travel on to Mar-a-Lago, Mr. Trump’s Florida estate, to celebrate the president’s first year in office, but the F.B.I. had other plans, questioning him for more than two hours and seizing his electronics. Since then, Mr. Nader has been questioned numerous times about meetings in New York during the transition, the Seychelles meeting and meetings in the White House with two of Mr. Trump’s senior advisers, Jared Kushner and Stephen K. Bannon, who has since left the administration.

Kellyanne has been around the D.C. cocktail curcuit for a few decades. All the politicians and prime media figures know her socially. What was a bit unexpected, is that she took an advisor job with the Trump administration. She made good money with major campaigns via her business called the Polling Company.
Kellyanne may have been given added incentives to sign-on working in the WH. The indication is that the Mercers are behind the placement. She is allegedly quite tight with Rebekah Mercer. Cambridge Analytica has been a Mercer funded project.
The Mercers supposedly had cut-off Steve Bannon. But is that more show than substance, or a temporary disassociation due to the heat of the Mueller investgation?

R401, Nader may have specific information about payments made to the Trump campaign by Russia and UAE. It's hard to believe that meeting in the Seychelles (involving, I believe, Nader, one of Putin's associates, and a representative of the Trump campaign) was about anything else except money.
R402, I think Bannon has outlived his usefulness.

The Office of the Special Counsel is not the same as the DOJ's Special Prosecutor. The Special Counsel works in the WH. He is part of the Presidential, Executive Branch operations. John Dean was Special Counsel to Nixon. Basically when someone violates Hatch, their supervisor has to deal with it.In this case Kelly Anne's supervisor is POTUS, or Kelly acting for POTUS. So they can do anything from a slap on the wrist to firing her.

I'm thrilled to know that the evil Erik Prince is on Mueller's radar. And it was inevitable for that corrupt, nasty thug lawyer, Michael Cohen to get busted. Bannon is the puzzle. I'd be interested in what he actually knows. The fact that Mueller's team knew about Nader ought to make Donnie Jr. and Jared pee on themselves. Any delusions they may have had about concealing things from Mueller's team, have to be dispelled by the depth and the detail and the thoroughness of the investigators. This is a many faceted huge mess of treason at so many levels, the only easy way to explain it, in a nutshell, just think of Trump as an old whore, who simply opened her legs to the entire Russian mob. the Chinese, the Arabs, and anyone else who acted interested.

Mueller May Have Documents On Trump Treason During The 2016 Campaign
“GOP strategist Mike Murphy passed along a rumor on The Last Word, “I’ll give you one salacious rumor because it’s Russia speculation night. I was walking around Beverly Hills, and I don’t want to be pulled in by Mueller on this, because I don’t know anything I was walking around international businessmen swore me to secrecy, you can say it on TV, a friend of mine got pulled in my Mueller asking about a mou, a memorandum of understanding that Trump had during the 2016 campaign, and Mueller has the document. That’s my contribution to the cloud of speculation. I believe this guy is credible, but have no way of knowing if it’s true.”
If Mueller has those kinds of documents on Trump, it’s over. “

Roger stone was on MSNBC with chuck Todd yesterday and Stone claimed not to have been subpoenaed by the Mueller team -does this mean he is a target? Also he threw Nunberg under the bus as basically a crazed fan boi. Stone is just a nasty piece of work.

Brokaw has been clueless for a long time.
I can't believe Trump signed some Memo of Understanding with a foreign entity to grant them favors in exchange for fixing the election. Or would this be a MOU for some business arrangement? It's nuts. At this point in time there re probably all kinds of rumors swirling around and some will rise to the top of the cesspool. If this rumor has legs it will eventually get traction. But I think I'm going to rely on Rachel, Joy Reid, Lawrence O Donnell, Chris Hayes, and Ari Melber to vet them for me. I like the group of journalists they all work with too.
This is slightly off topic, but does anyone else here think that Steve Schmidt, the guy who ran McCain's campaign and has become the voice of reason on NBC , may e considering running for office? He's kicking the GOP in the ass every day and he is unabashedly Republican.

Wow, R406, sorry, but no. Much, but not all, of what you wrote and I've quoted above is in error. You have confused and conflated several different government offices.
(1) True, the U.S. Office of Special Counsel (OSC) is not the same as Bob Mueller's position -- so, that is accurate. But, Mueller is also called Special Counsel, not Special Prosecutor. His title is set out in the first line of Rosenstein's appointment letter right below the Order number.
(2) The OSC is not a part of the White House, but instead is an independent federal investigative and prosecutorial agency. And, yes, part of their job is to investigate violations of the Hatch Act.
(3) John Dean was NOT Nixon's "Special Counsel." He occupied the office of Counsel to the President or White House Counsel, whose job is to advise the President on all legal issues concerning the President and his Administration. Completely separate and entirely different from OSC.
All of that being said, Kellyanne Conjob is going to get no discipline at all from 45.

Now I would love that! Trump's personal agenda is twofold right now. Play to the base and energize them, so Tariffs, "illegal" immigration, and North Korea's threat.
And second, do everything he can to distract from the Russia investigation. He doesn't give a fuck about Stormy Daniels. As long as the media is covering Stormy they aren't covering Russians. Watch for hi to say outrageous provocative things over the coming weeks. He dominates the news cycle every single day, and there is always a new low.

G. W. Bush appointed Bolton as UN Ambassador, but he could not get enough votes for Senate confirmation. His role in that capacity was basically "acting". Bolton has a controversial history.

If Chelsea Clinton had backed a blockade of Qatar, and put American troops in harm's way doing so, because she wanted to punish Qatar for not loaning her money, I'm sure the GOP would have held no hearings about it. And if Hillary was using back channels to get Russian money and to communicate with Putin while he attacked our country, I'm sure the GOP would have nothing to say on the matter.

by Anonymous | reply 451 | March 8, 2018 12:34 AM |
Yes it was, and there was some indication that something was shady about the meeting when it was first leaked last year. The thing is, a lot of what's going on is going over the heads of Mrs. Malone in Peoria. I use that as a figure of speech. We need to be doing a much better job of showing the American people exactly why Russia is evil, and point to specific examples of what they have done to us that demonstrates how evil they are.
They have been fucking around with us for years. They have been fucking around in the Middle East for years. The bad shit they have been involved with, costing not only American lives but hundreds of thousands of lives all over the world, we need to tell that story. And we haven't. We know that Iran is evil. They took American hostages. Ben Affleck was in the movie. But how many people know Russia's involvement with Iran and Syria and Lebanon in the late 70's and the 80's, 90's and up to today?
Russia has been a bad actor for a very long time. Some people say, "Well we did it too." I have no apologies to make and I won't be put on the defensive by that kind of thinking. Because IMO, everything we have done has been to advance the interests of the United States and our allies. We got some stuff wrong. we made mistakes. We fucked up. But until now we have never had a POTUS who was representing the interests of an enemy of the U.S. and deliberately acting to weaken us. IMO, the man is guilty of treason. Any Republican who is permitting this, turning a blind eye, or actively aiding and abetting it is guilty of treason.

Considering the barrage of corruption that emerges on an almost daily basis, I have to wonder if Rosenstein hasn't authorized Mueller to quietly send some smaller cases to select federal prosecutors either in DOJ's Criminal Division or in U.S. Attorney Offices around the country. The lawyers that Mueller has on his staff are exceptionally brilliant and talented people, but there are only so many hours in a day and there is only so much they can do. And, what we hear about doesn't encompass whatever crimes Mueller and the FBI have uncovered and we don't know about.
As someone mentioned upthread, trying to keep up with this has become nearly impossible.

The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that Putin didn't only compromise or co -opt Trump. Putin had to hedge his bets. He couldn't rely solely in one person. So there have to be other operatives or assets besides Trump. Nunes is obvious. But this network is wider. There are some members of Congress, there are people in the business community and in the Media.
I think we have to ask where the Kochs are in all this. Is this simply a fusion of two separate forces that have compatible goals? Both of them want a weak central government for different reasons? Putin's goal is chaos. He wants a weakened U.S. for obvious reasons. Then you have the Corporatists like the Kochs who want to privatize everything and impose tax cuts to shrink the central government out of existence.
The Extremists want to isolate America, ban Muslims, put up The Wall, people of color, women, Gays, etc. are all targets. It's always important to give people someone to hate. It's important to instill fear of "Others" so people are easier to control. Then you have Erik Prince with his world wide interests in a private army. Every country in Europe is experiencing versions of what we a are going through with the Alt Right extremists re-asserting themselves to varying effect.
I'm afraid that everything the people propping Trump up have done so far is just a prelude. I think we will see their efforts accelerate between now and November. All these special elections are misleading. They're probing us to figure out how to work against us, see what will work in November.. We have to be smarter and more determined.
The silence and capitulation of the GOP leadership in Congress is damning. They need the spotlight on them. And so do the Kochs. We need to expose them and determine once and for all if they are deliberately part of this or simply have common interests. Either way, they are definitely not working in the interests of the United States. We need to start legal actions and pass laws to break up their industries the same way they want to break up our government.

I think I can predict the best way to deal with Putin's troll farms and his Internet Research Agency. They need to be destroyed. So let's imagine some black ops team that goes in and both physically and remotely destroys the functioning of the groups. Like maybe a "warehouse fire" or something graphic and in his face. He would be royally pissed off. He would probably call Trump and scream at him. And Trump would tell him "I had nothing to do with this I knew nothing about it."
And it would be true. Because it would be done without Trump's knowledge and consent. In fact it could even be handed off to some foreign ally of the United States because they too would suffer harm from the troll farm. But it would send a huge message to Putin: Trump is useless. He's not the one in charge. He is no "Strong Man." ( Putin chose him because Trump is a fool, but now he would see it's a double edged sword.) In fact, I'd bet some things are already happening through the international intel community, that have Putin really crazy with anger.

Isn't it obvious? Out of the chaos in the US, created by Putin and his agents, comes a oligarchy, like Russia, where the Kochs are Kings ruling over their subjects. The Kochs ruling on their terms without having to go through a middleman like a government official (senator, for example). No more pretending that the US is a democracy.

He has been a proponent of illegal immigration (bringing them in massively), NOT to award citizenship, but for cheap, non-union labor and hoards of new consumers. It is to support his industries. Social consequences are not the priority to address. He wants maintain the monopoly he has (no anti-trust suits), gut environmental regulations, exploit federal land, pursue eminent domain as a private entity, pay little in taxes, pay low wages, eliminate worker health insurance obligations, abolish what he sees as overnmental, unfriendly banking and commerce regulations, etc.
Dealing with issues such as abortion, gay rights, public education, prison reform, religion, etc. are not the Koch thing, directly, but understand such matters help keep the Republican base in the fold with their financial objectives. The Koch method is 'control" of goverment, privatization (in their corporate favor), not simply receiving friendly policies. They buy their politicians; and any Republican politician that disagrees with them on one agenda item, will get "primaried", and likely lose.
The Kochs are receiving what they want with Trump and this GOP Congress. They are probably uneasy with Trump's antics, instability, and certainly the investigation happening. The Kochs adore Pence, but know he does not garner the passion of the fundamental base that Trump does.

Rand Paul. McCain said Ron Paul "worked for Vladimir Putin" on the floor of the senate. The first person to run to a microphone and defend Rand Paul while excoriating McCain? Why, none other than Roger Stone, on Alex Jones' show.

The very rich in the US used to fund libraries, universities, hospitals, etc not because they were such great people but because they feared the masses. And they feared the newspapers at that time, which had great power.
They didn't know about propaganda and how to use it in the US back then. Now they own much of the media. Their politicians have gutted education and funded religion ("faith based institutions") in order to weaponize a bunch of addled meth heads and fanatics in the south and Midwest to worship the very rich and hate social reformers.
What a sad, sick bunch.

A new book is coming out that has new details about Trump, his Russian obsessions and pissing prostitutes!
“Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin's War on America and the Election of Donald Trump”
“Part of the group — including Trump, Emin, Goldstone, reigning Miss Universe Olivia Culpo and outgoing Miss USA Nana Meriwether — went after dinner to an after-party at a raunchy nightclub called the Act, where they arrived shortly after midnight.
The Act was later ordered a few months to stop its “lewd” and “offensive” performances — which involved activity that resembles salacious details of the Trump-Russia dossier compiled by a former British spy.
“Among the club’s regular acts cited by the judge was one called ‘Hot for Teacher,’ in which naked college girls simulate urinating on a professor,” Isikoff and Corn reported. “In another act, two women disrobe and then ‘one female stands over the other female and simulates urinating while the other female catches the urine in two wine glasses.’

Even more troubling for Republicans, because Pennsylvania’s congressional map is being redrawn, the special election district will likely no longer exist by the time of the November election. But with so much attention trained on the race, House GOP leaders determined they had little choice but to spend whatever is needed to pull Saccone over the finish line.
Particularly concerning, they say, is the fact that the millions of dollars Republicans have spent — much of it highlighting the GOP tax cuts and attempting to tie Lamb to Pelosi — has failed to move the needle.
Others note that Lamb has adroitly cast himself as a conservative figure, allowing him to win over the scores of blue-collar Democrats in an area that has voted Republican in recent elections.

A hunch plus; but think there are a couple of Senators that are directly compromised.
There may be a few others that Russians have dirt on that may not have anything to do with Russia, but would be at least embarrassing, perhaps devastating, if revealed, i. e. sexual affairs/prostitutes, unreported funny money and/or gifts received, etc.
In the House, there may be a dozen or so compromised at varying levels. Four or five of them appear blatantly obvious.
Look at the ones who have vigorously tried to undermine the Mueller investigation; and the few that have been long-time proponents of Russian interests or have established business ties with oligarchs tight with Putin.

The way we deal with the Kochs, is first to expose them as we did when they gave Paul Ryan his $500000 after he helped get the Tax Bill passed. We need to treat them as toxic as we do the NRA. So expose who got money from them and when they do to our environment and about the illegal workers and all that shit. Constantly shine the spotlight on them. Show how their man has his own office in the WH. Show how they have been buying Congressmen for years. Expose them. And then we can innoculate ourselves against them. Because nothing would piss them off more than being ignored. We know, for example, that Paul Ryan is going to get more money then God from the Kochs to get re-elected. But if Paul Ryan loses that tells the Kochs all the money in the world will not stp informed voters from kicking their asses.

From another thread:
"The below are tweets from Jeffrey Lewis and are the best take I've seen yet:
North Korea has been seeking a summit with an American president for more than twenty years. It has literally been a top foreign policy goal of Pyongyang since Kim Jong Il invited Bill Clinton.
I wonder if Trump's "aides" have explained that to him. Or, if in their toddler-handling, they have led him to believe that this offer is something unusual. Or perhaps he imagines that only he can go Pyongyang.
This is literally how the North Korean film "The Country I Saw" ends. An American President visits Pyongyang, compelled by North Korea's nuclear and missile programs to treat a Kim as an equal.
To be clear -- we need to talk to North Korea. But Kim is not inviting Trump so that he can surrender North Korea's weapons. Kim is inviting Trump to demonstrate that his investment in nuclear and missile capabilities has forced the United States to treat him as an equal."

It will be interesting to see how Trump navigates his relationships with China and Russia who do not get along with one another. And both of them wield interests in the Korean Peninsula. I believe North Korea will lean more towards accommodating China than Russia, but the truth is, there's a lot of similarity between Trump and Li'l Kim. Both of them have huge egos and contrarian streaks. So Kim will toy with China by doing something Russia wants. It's a messy place for amateurs. The only good thing to come out of this is if Trump goes to South Korea, or to the DMZ, and gets captured and held in a North Korean prison. The Tariffs ploy was an interesting example of how sadistic and bullying he is. He says something outrageous but it plays well with his base. Then he looks for legitimacy by making sure there are people like Wilbur Ross, that piece of shit 80 yr old billionaire with ties to the Putin family, who co-signs it. Then Trump toys with us saying "Well, maybe there might be some exemptions..." and the world literally goes ape shit about the entire pronouncement. First he says "Tariffs" then he says "some exemptions" and everyone waits to see who can get a waiver.
Now the fact is The Kochs oppose this, and Ryan put out a statement opposing it. But because they're dealing with a psycho, Ryan had to frame a second statement more carefully. He says, "Yeah, I understand where you're going POTUS, we want to help our workers and our manufacturing industry. Great! But can we be more surgical and try to refine it a little?" Which is Ryan's way of offering Trump a way to get back off the limb he went out on.
Trump is transparently easy to manipulate. But he is also a willful, bullying, egotistical, narcissistic, unstable person completely unfit to lead. And every fucking day we have new reasons to hate Ryan and the GOP. Because they know exactly what he is, and what he did to get there, and how negligent he has been about protecting our country and they are aiding and abetting.

Right now I'm interested to know who benefits from the way things are. From what we understand, North Korea has millions on the verge of starving. It's as if China and Russia and a few others have to prop the country up. YOu'd think they would all want North Korea to stand on its own two feet economically instead of draining them. But OTOH, if North Korea was more stable and stonger, and still possessing nuclear weapons, then the whole balance of power would be fucked up.

It's been referred to on the BBC as 'the summit of the century.' Similarly a reporter saw it as 'like a Las Vegas prizefight.' When Trump picks up this vibe he'll be like a pig in shit.
Evidently Trump's acceptance came without many (or any) prefatory consultations with senior advisors. He's taken this initiative which will dominate discourse till May - and relegate all those troubling allegations gaining such traction. Given how the BBC is seeing this, you can imagine how it'll be spun for deplorables.
It remains to be seen how Trump's opportunism will be a game changer in the way he needs. Unintended consequences seem inevitable. None of which will alter the facts which Mueller is meticulously gathering.

The Int’l community had to be goaded into treating NK like a pariah. Kim’s put everything he’s got into his missile efforts; but still cannot get everything he needs without outside help. As He would not want to meet if sanctions weren’t hurting.
Once the President of the US meets with NK, pariah status will begin to fade. That’s why no other President, R or D, has.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders on Friday said North Korea must prove “concrete and verifiable actions” ahead of any meeting, declining to commit to any specific date for such a gathering to take place.
“Let’s be very clear, the United States has made zero concessions,” Sanders said from the podium Friday, adding that the U.S. must see North Korea take “concrete” actions to follow through on its promises, namely, denuclearization.
In other words, the meeting will never happen.

Exactly, r555.
by Anonymous | reply 556 | March 9, 2018 7:15 PM |
R555 NK will never truly "denuclearize" as long as the US has troops in South Korea. Anyone can see it's an impasse. All negotiations around it are just part of the same delaying tactics that have been going on for decades. Only after the irrational Kim dynasty is gone will there will real negotiations. And of course, the US has to get rid of an unstable ignoramus like Trump as well.

Well, Kim did make one secret request that Trump is pondering. Kim said the first night there he wants some fun-fun time with a voluptuous, blonde American woman. Thus, I suppose, Kellyanne will be traveling.
by Anonymous | reply 559 | March 9, 2018 7:45 PM |
Is Kellyanne voluptuous? Is Kellyanne blonde?

....you mean Ivanka.
by Anonymous | reply 562 | March 9, 2018 9:07 PM |
The meeting will never happen. Trump needed SOMETHING to get the attention off the porn star, the Russian probe, his tariff fuck up. So now it's this made up fantasy diplomatic mission. Will Dennis Rodman be part of the diplomacy team or maybe Margaret cho?
Is trumps prep for this "summit" putting Kim chi on his Mac Donald's burger? Please bitches don't believe the BS that this is going to happen - though he will string everyone along until...July 4th or so
by Anonymous | reply 563 | March 9, 2018 9:24 PM |
Oy my god. According to the Wall Street Journal, Trump's lawyers are going to tell Mueller Donald will meet with him if Mueller then agrees to end the Trump part of the investigation within a specific time frame, such as 60 days from the time of the meeting. I wish I could have seen Mueller's face when he heard this.
by Anonymous | reply 564 | March 9, 2018 10:31 PM |
Mueller should agree......then on the 59th day, charge him.

Too soon?

Maddow is reporting on The Washington Post’s story about Trump writing a letter to Putin in 2013. The article details how desperate Trump was to befriend Putin.

Where is Donnie going to meet with Kim anyway? He's terrified to be anywhere but the White House, MaraLago or his golf club. He's got to know how many Americans want him dead and how much the Secret Service despises him. I'll believe this meeting happens when I see it.
by Anonymous | reply 569 | March 10, 2018 1:25 AM |
R569 Supposedly at the DMZ/Panmunjeom... yeah, don't think he thought it through. Might take the weekend to sink in.
by Anonymous | reply 570 | March 10, 2018 1:40 AM |
Someone should play that video of a North Korean assassin quickly killing off Kim Jong Un's uncle (or whoever it was) in that airport over and over before Trump goes anywhere. I'm picturing him so paranoid that every time anyone approaches him he goes into a series of bad kung fu moves.

According to the Post and other media outlets, Trump wanted to build a hotel in Moscow but Obama hit Putin with Sanctions for invading the Crimea or the Ukraine or WTF ever. So Trump was blocked. LOL! He was "this close" to meeting Putin, he was BFFs with a wealthy oligarch who was Putin's builder, he could have had his hotel and become buddies with Pooty, even getting Putty to come to his beauty pageant. He was THIS CLOSE, I tell ya.!!!
IMO, I think Trump is telling Mueller he is going to shut him down. That's what he really means. Mueller has been warned. I sincerely hope that within the next 48 days Mueller's team can charge the President with crimes. This is a huge investigation. It could go on for two or three years, and involve a lot of people besides Erik Prince or Devin Nunes, or whomever. But Mueller needs to charge Trump and be very specific about what he is charged with. Mueller can get the other people later, but Trump needs to get nailed.
The Erik Prince meeting is particularly damning. First we had Jared asking the fucking Russian Ambassador if he could use the Russia Embassy's "safe room" to set up back channel communications with Russia. Then Erik Prince is in the Seychelles right after the election trying to do the same thing on Trump's behalf. it's my guess that even though he is getting this info from George Nader, Mueller also has corroborating evidence to verify the information. That and the money laundering, the obstruction, and the fact that Trump altered US foreign policy to accommodate Putin as a quid pro quo is fucking Treason. But Mueller better hurry.
As for the tariff show, it was a fake out. He's already talking about "waivers." The tariff announcement was for Pennsylvania politics . That election in PA is important. If they lose this one it will be bad for them. PA and steel go together like rum & coke. And more than PA this is for the base, for all the Deplorables who voted for him. Trump is all about salvaging the House seats to preserve a GOP majority. Without it he is dead in the water.
by Anonymous | reply 572 | March 10, 2018 2:13 AM |
The media really i a joke sometimes. They got all excited and fell for the hyp about Nues and his fucking memo, then they are all about the Porn Star and her pay off, and no one is properly interpreting WTF is going on. They actually took him seriously about the Tariffs, which yes, they should but it was quickly obvious that the Kochs, and most of the GOP members of Congress were really pissed and when he realized it he backed it up.This is all about politics.. It's all about trying to hold on to his base.

R571 It was his older half brother that he had killed. Kim also allegedly sent NK agents to kill off his nephew (the dead guy's son) in Beijing but was thwarted by Chinese secret service. He probably doesn't want any other male heirs alive.
by Anonymous | reply 574 | March 10, 2018 2:25 AM |
Isn't the White House walking this back now? I read they're now saying The Turnip won't meet with NK unless they meet the same conditions that have always existed for a meeting.
by Anonymous | reply 575 | March 10, 2018 2:27 AM |
R575, yes, they are taking it back. It's now just a vague possibility. The story popped like a bubble.
by Anonymous | reply 576 | March 10, 2018 2:28 AM |
I don't think Mueller should make a move on the president directly until the Dems take control of the House. From what I've read, Mueller can recommend charges and report to Congress but Congress has to act on those recommendations and impeach him. Until he is impeached and, hopefully, removed there is still some question if a sitting president can be charged criminally. And, that still does nothing about the cabal of traitors that now fill the Repug leadership throughout Congress.
Mueller can't move until they can all be taken out or it won't go anywhere near the higher level criminals because they are the ones currently running the show.

R572 "He was "this close" to meeting Putin, he was BFFs with a wealthy oligarch who was Putin's builder, he could have had his hotel and become buddies with Pooty, even getting Putty to come to his beauty pageant. He was THIS CLOSE, I tell ya.!!!"
You crack me up, buddy. Masterful interpretation! haha
by Anonymous | reply 578 | March 10, 2018 2:46 AM |
IMO if Trump fires Mueller before the election he will guarantee a Democratic victory. If he leaves things alone and keeps focusing on his "policies" and more publicity stunts like the North Korea announcement, and the steel tariffs, he might just hang on to the GOP House. Dems will make some gains, but they might not take it. ame with the Senate where Dems have a harder slog just to maintain what they have now.
by Anonymous | reply 579 | March 10, 2018 3:16 AM |
The Dems are taking the House. Have you been paying any attention to what's been going on in all the elections for a year now?

Watch Sam Nunberg leaving the Mueller Grand Jury today...
As TeaPain on Twitter called it, “Watch Nunberg leavin’ the Grand Jury today and listen to your instincts. This is the nervous face of a feller that just sold his mentor Roger Stone up the river and with him, the Trump presidency.”

All Trump does as POTUS is desperately trying to distract people from things he did in the past.
The media should be shamed to be just whores for clickbait and ratings. People should get into their thick skulls that the media is not their friend and they don't get informed by most media outlets, they get mentally poisoned. People need to treat that "Keeping Up With The Trumpians" political reality TV shit the same way they treat the regular "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" trash. Don't fall for it, don't feed it, don't let anyone of these sleazy people live rent free in your mind.

With all of his talk about how detrimental importing steel has been to the US economy....
Has a single person or news outlet called him out for using Chinese Steel for his buildings?
by Anonymous | reply 589 | March 10, 2018 5:28 AM |
R589 It's been reported that US currently only import 2% of its steel from China. Previous administrations have already curtailed import of steel from China, so this steel tariff will hurt way US allies more than China. Doh!
by Anonymous | reply 590 | March 10, 2018 5:38 AM |
I'm aware of that R590. The point is the blatant hypocrisy of him saying that people using imported steel is damaging America's economy and he's been doing it for years.

by Anonymous | reply 592 | March 10, 2018 6:00 AM |
R591 Obviously, it's all about getting the "tariff" sound bite out there. It makes him look "tough." There's no real point to any "policies" he ever proposed. Everything he does is either to appease donors/Russia or his racist/xenophobic base.
by Anonymous | reply 594 | March 10, 2018 6:03 AM |
Yes, R594. But again, the media should be calling him out on the hypocrisy of it. Sort of like how they've mostly ignored how he's now saying he's going to implement stricter gun control laws for those with mental issues when the first thing he did was sign a bill doing away with what Obama already had in place.
Point is... everyone's letting him off the hook and not pointing it out.
by Anonymous | reply 595 | March 10, 2018 6:06 AM |
R595 If the media weren't spineless to begin with, Hillary would be in the WH. They have always treated Trump like a naughty rich celebrity to gossip about, instead of a politician who should be held to a certain professional/ethical standard.
by Anonymous | reply 596 | March 10, 2018 6:16 AM |
Yes, R596, that's my point.
