Any one watching Tabatha Coffey’s new “takeover” type show, “Relative Success”? I just binged the first episodes. I’ll keep watching, as I like Tabatha.
She looks like a fucking alien.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 26, 2018 12:43 AM |
It's not really as addictive as her other shows were, but I like her, so I've kept watching.
I have to admit, the personal way she related to the underperforming gay man at his mother's deli was surprisingly heartwarming. The kid seemed like a little shit, but she actually figured out why.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 26, 2018 12:43 AM |
She lives in Ft. Lee, NJ. She still does hair.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | February 26, 2018 12:48 AM |
I agree R2...in fact I could’ve written that exact same comment. I liked the salon version because the hair industry interests me, but Tabatha is equally compelling in this.

It appears to be Rachel Roberts, R8, who’s co dependent obsession with Rex Harrison caused her to get drunk, take pills, drink lye and fall through a glass wall to her eventual demise.
How is this woman not a well known DL fave?

So why was the gay deli son screwing up, R2?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 26, 2018 1:49 AM |
He was scared about being 100% out and rejected by his family. It was apparently something that everyone "knew" but didn't discuss. I got the impression that the mom telling him it was okay was the first time he'd heard that directly from her.

She looks like Benedict Cumberbatch

Her Salon Takeover show was THE best..my favorite was when one salon owner complained because they thought they were getting a new fridge and she read the shit out of her. I would love to see the season of Shear Genius she was on.

How is this show doing? I’ve been meaning to watch because I loved her salon takeover shows, but haven’t actually gotten around to watching this. It was originally on at the same time as the Versace miniseries (bad timing) and then they moved it an hour earlier and now it’s moving to Friday nights (never a good sign).

I’ve seen the first 2 and the show is sorta “eh” because Tabs needs to be a little more delicate in her approach with the fraught family dynamics at play. So the fireworks have been pretty limited. All we really want is to watch her hand people their asses left and right. But I’m glad she’s back on air. She’s so charismatic.

I watched the first few episodes. I like Tabatha for her no bullshit attitude. The second or third episode (Family Jewelers) had an interesting family dynamic. Step-Mom, OG Kids, two half brothers... one of the brothers looked like he could throw a mean fuck... one of the half brothers had a face you wanted to punch, his attitude was shit, and it was probably because he wanted his half brother to throw that mean fuck.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | March 3, 2018 2:30 AM |
Oh and the episode with the "modest clothing" business. The son in that looked like he wanted out so he could go star in some gay porn.

The person who does my hair transferred salons which ended up being one of the ones featured back when she had the Salon Takeover show. They were one of the ones that managed to stay in business after having the camera crews in.

R34 according to the Bravo site, they've only aired 3 episodes.

I live a block from the deli in Long Beach (Modica's Deli) where an episode was filmed. The gay son waited on us once. This was before I even knew about the show but I remembered him when I saw the episode. I wish I knew Bravo would be filming there because it would have been cool to meet Tabatha. In one of her previous shows a few years ago (I think it was called "Tabatha Takes Over") she "took over" a gay bar/club called Ripples which is also in Long Beach. I spotted the owners (John and Larry) eating at Modica's on the grand re-opening episode. Small world!

by Anonymous | reply 40 | March 3, 2018 3:07 AM |
The episodes have aired Jan 17, Jan 24, Jan 31 and Feb 7. Today is March 2. The show is moving to Fridays. The long gap after four episodes and the move don’t bode well for the show. It’s a bummer. Lots of us seem to like her.

My favorite Tabitha episode was her taking over a Hollywood themed hotel...the owner was a Baby Jane type who had very little interest in offering hospitality to her guests.

Yeah, loved that episode too, R43. And Jake was a little hottie.

I don’t know where she currently does hair but years ago she was at a salon in Franklin Lakes (?) which is where Teresa from RHONJ lives.
Since she’s so close to the city, she probably rents a chair at a chi chi Manhattan salon.

There is nothing "wrong" with Tabatha's face. It's just how she looks. Stop being a cunt R48.

I LOVE Tabatha! watching her show inspired me to cut my (at, the time) long hair really short. my favorite lime of hers 'I don't do passive aggressive, I do aggressive aggressive'. I would pay good money to have her cut my hair and be a mean truth - bomber to me
by Anonymous | reply 50 | March 3, 2018 4:32 AM |
One of the funniest moments is when Tabatha was watching the surveillance video of a stylist who was taking a huge bite out of a burrito at the front desk of a salon, and Tabitha yelled, "She's not coming up for air!"

I used to love “Tabatha’s Salon Takeover”! My favorite was the strip mall salon in Oyster Bay with a staff that Tabatha delicately described as looking like “a bunch of hillbillies”!
by Anonymous | reply 54 | March 3, 2018 4:58 AM |
There was one episode of Salon Take Over that had me cracking up. It involved a Salon somewhere int he south and one of the Hair Dressers was really dumb. She kept later saying she wanted to put Tabatha in her pocket and she might even go gay for her, ha!

by Anonymous | reply 61 | March 3, 2018 6:49 AM |
Sorry, but this show is a dud. I was ecstatic when I learned Tabatha had a new show--so ecstatic that I immediately dropped what I was doing when I learned this fact and ran to watch it On Demand. It's boring. It's contrived. It's neither entertaining nor interesting. Fake drama just like on every other show on this God-foresakin channel. I got through about 20 minutes before I gave up and started diddling around on my phone with the show on in the background. Tabatha seemed in her element 'taking over' salons. Clothing lines? Not so much. There's already a show that takes over flailing businesses, and it does it better. It's called The Profit on CNBC. I was so excited to see this bitch back on TV...but I will not be returning.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | March 3, 2018 6:58 AM |
I'd take Tabatha over the Profit any day. She is aggressive as hell but she's loving even when she's mean. She is my favorite server of truth.

I’m impressed with you, DL! Only a few assholes here have made fun of this woman’s face and judged her by her appearance instead of who she is. Bravo has 5 episodes listed as having been aired but only have 4 available to view online. For some reason the fourth (Deli) isn't available.
I think the next step for Tabatha in these series is to take on fixing people's lives straight away. I want to see her take on Debi Thomas.

I don’t think it matters the type of business...as mentioned above the Cinema Suites episode (which was not a salon) was one of the all time best and incredibly entertaining.
Tabitha’s makeover at the end of each episode of the old series was something that gave the show an element of anticipation. Plus, Tabitha used to re-visit the business a few months later to see if they continued to implement her changes or if the owner went back to his/her old ways. Sometimes an owner she did not work well with made a surprising turn for the better when Tabitha made her re-visit.

Well, Cinema Suites had the advantage of the owner, the result of some strange experiment combining the DNA of Brendad Ickson, Chi Chi LaRue, and Divine.

Here's the thing, Tabatha Takes Over was from a looooong ass time ago, 2009 was the date on the last rerun I saw...and Tabatha is supposedly a hotshot hairdresser...so why the fuck does she STILL have the same hairstyle and wretched bleach job 10 years later? It's long past time for a change. Who trusts a stylist who never experiments with her own style?
by Anonymous | reply 96 | March 11, 2018 8:25 AM |
R96, hairstylists ALWAYS have the most fucked up hairdo. It's a job requirement apparently.

Love the Tabitha Takes Over episode where she humiliated Jonathan Antin and his messy shop.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | March 11, 2018 11:39 PM |
I remember a word problem in a HS math class that was basically: You visit a small town you’ve never been to before and you need a haircut. There are two shops next to one another. One is clean and has no wait, and the barber is well groomed with a stylish haircut. The other shop is busy with people waiting in line, hair on the floor and the barber is unkempt with a bad haircut. Which barber do you go to and why?
The correct answer was the one with the bad haircut and the messy shop, because he gave the other barber the good haircut and the other barber gave him his bad haircut. There’s hair all over the floor and waiting customers because everyone goes to him because he is the better barber; the other one has few customers and therefore lots of time to keep his business clean.

by Anonymous | reply 103 | March 14, 2018 12:36 AM |
She’s Australian. Australia is surrounded by...well, Asia and the South Pacific, so it’s not that unlikely R103. She may also just be a white woman of UK descent and as such may have indigenous Scandiavian (Sami, etc) heritage that gives her Asianesque eyes, like Renee Zellweger...
by Anonymous | reply 104 | March 14, 2018 12:44 AM |
...or like HGTV’s David Bromstad, who is German/Swedish/Norwegian but looks Asian-ish. These are typical features of the Sami and Lapp people or that region.

R110 There are DNA markers specific to Ashkenazi Jews that are also found in Cherokee American Indians. If you look at Cherokee people and think “you look Asian,” then they look Asian. If you think, “you look Jewish,” then you see the typical Jewish features in many.
I love this ethnic DNA stuff because it really does seem to always circle around to “we’re all related” on at least some distant level.

This week's episode was sad. The couple needed major couple's therapy, or never gotten married. The kids were pushed aside. They will be probably suffer from depression after witnessing so much anger from both of their parents.
There was no need for the contrived scene of the botoxed mom giving her kids a "snack" of celery, carrot sticks and water.

There was something special about the plate throwing scene.
Before:

Stick to your day job, Tabatha!!

Love her but she needs to stick to hair.
It appears to be common for stylists to want to do other things, they often try to get out of doing hair at the first chance.
But if that is your talent, you should cultivate it because so few hair people are any good. Like 1000:1 bad to good.
I don’t think it’s a bad living. You can cut one head per day at her rates and still be comfortable.

It should be against the law for any plastic surgeon to do any additional work on that broad's face. She's hijjus, just hijjus.

Hair cutting is more taxing on the body than it seems. Bad backs, blown out shoulders... Can't blame her if she'd rather earn more doing less.

It is impossible to find examples of cuts she has done. Everything online is from 2010.
Does she still cut hair? How can one view her work?

R95 - did she go back to check up on them in person? I don’t remember this at all but I’ll take your word for it.
One thing I loved about the original show was after her re-visit to the salon several months later she would end the episode by talking to the camera with her final assessment. Tabitha wasn’t very camera savvy at the time so it usually ended with her awkwardly walking away when she was done speaking.

[quote]Stick to your day job, Tabatha!!
I think that was done with the expectation that the husband would just fold. I don't blame him, frankly.
