Vicar of Dibley actress Emma Chambers dies aged 53

Alice was always my favourite on the show, very sad.

Loved Alice. So sad...

by Anonymousreply 3February 24, 2018 4:53 PM

No one cares about an ugly old lady, much less someone you think is noteworthy but isn't

by Anonymousreply 4February 24, 2018 5:01 PM

Fuck off R4.

How does one die from natural causes at 53? Cancer?

by Anonymousreply 5February 24, 2018 5:14 PM

I was wondering that too, R5. What are natural causes at 53? Some congenital thing?

by Anonymousreply 6February 24, 2018 8:03 PM

Sad.

Rest in Peace

by Anonymousreply 7February 24, 2018 8:06 PM

"Unexpectedly"

Maybe a heart attack?

by Anonymousreply 8February 24, 2018 8:37 PM

Is the UK having the same problems as the US with the flu?

by Anonymousreply 9February 24, 2018 8:38 PM

Sorry r4 your a cunt . She was wonderful. Rest In Peace gorgeous one

by Anonymousreply 10February 24, 2018 8:39 PM

OD. Fentanyl. Possibly.

by Anonymousreply 11February 24, 2018 8:41 PM

No offence, R4, but please die in a grease fire

by Anonymousreply 12February 24, 2018 8:48 PM

There are many things you could die from...I thought she was in Nottingham Hill, the Hugh Grant movie?

by Anonymousreply 13February 24, 2018 8:54 PM

She was tremendous. I am shocked and saddened. Stupid death.

by Anonymousreply 14February 24, 2018 8:57 PM

I knew Emma. If you had ever met her, you would have fallen in love with her. She was such a wonderful, inspiring and funny person. And in person, she just seemed beautiful. In fact, this is the first time a friend from my 20s has died. I feel quite shaken up.

by Anonymousreply 15February 24, 2018 8:58 PM

Sorry she died but only the good die young.

Trump will live forever.

by Anonymousreply 16February 24, 2018 9:06 PM

R15 oh man, I'm so sorry for your loss. I thought she was a great comedic actress.

R13 think she was in that, yes.

by Anonymousreply 17February 24, 2018 9:36 PM

She was a wonderful actress and seemed very dear. This is hilarious.

I first saw her in a PBS production of Martin Chuzzlewit where she played one of Pecksniff's daughters, with Julia Sawalha playing the other. Very too bad.

by Anonymousreply 19February 24, 2018 9:44 PM

She died on Wednesday and it was only announced today. I’m guessing they wanted to wait for a post mortem to know what to say.

It sounds like the poor lady went to sleep and died. I’ve known a few people in their 50s die this way. Tragic shame.

by Anonymousreply 20February 24, 2018 9:49 PM

Possibly a pulmonary embolism. Hopefully quietly and in her sleep.

by Anonymousreply 21February 24, 2018 9:55 PM

Up in heaven still not getting the punchlines...

by Anonymousreply 22February 24, 2018 10:06 PM

Her agent is saying she died of "natural causes." Dying at 53 is just too damn young. RIP

If it was influenza, they would have report it.

If it was cancer, they would have reported it.

If it was heart disease, they would have reported it.

Connect the dots, gentle readers!

Opium is natural product and if you take to much if it will naturally suppress your CNS till death occurs.

by Anonymousreply 25February 24, 2018 10:58 PM

How can it be natural causes when you die at 53? It's too young!

by Anonymousreply 26February 24, 2018 11:03 PM

So it's "natural " for you to die in your 50s in the U.K.? Is this what free health care gets you?? RIP

by Anonymousreply 27February 24, 2018 11:05 PM

I remember when Charlotte Coleman died, the cause was murky, band still may be.

by Anonymousreply 28February 25, 2018 2:18 AM

This is so distressing to me as I had absolutely fallen in love with her in The Vicar of Dibley.

The last time I was so shaken up was when Elaine Stritch died. What awful news.

by Anonymousreply 29February 25, 2018 2:28 AM

Sad news. She was hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 30February 25, 2018 3:20 AM

Dawn French:

I was regularly humped like this by the unique & beautiful spark that was Emma Chambers. I never minded. I loved her. A lot .

by Anonymousreply 31February 25, 2018 3:42 AM

She seemed ludicrous and angelic at the same time. Lovely actress.

by Anonymousreply 32February 25, 2018 3:53 AM

The Brit outlets are now reporting a suspected heart attack, sometimes hard to see in an autopsy.

by Anonymousreply 33February 25, 2018 7:07 PM

Just like the Bollywood actress who died last week, R33.

I'm gonna say it's drugs. Either suicide or accidental. Cocaine is bad for people over age 50.

by Anonymousreply 35February 25, 2018 8:14 PM

Coke really ages one's heart, but EC wasn't on the radar as a fiend.

There isn't much gossip about her at all, unlike with Delores O'Riordan or Honeysuckle Weeks.

by Anonymousreply 36February 25, 2018 9:53 PM

CDAN had a BI today that implied it was an overdose.

by Anonymousreply 37February 25, 2018 9:57 PM

Some newspapers said that she had some allergy to animals and anything animals might have touched. Don't know if that played a part. She seemed like such a dear, lovely person. Loved her as Alice.

Dawn French reminds me of a prettier, optimistic Roseanne Barr with a much nicer, benign but still very funny personality. I enjoyed her on "Vicar of Dibley".

by Anonymousreply 38February 25, 2018 10:01 PM

How sad this makes me. Loved her to bits. She was one of the best things about the show. I'll break out my VOD DVD's tonight and cry myself to sleep watching them.

by Anonymousreply 39February 25, 2018 10:48 PM

[quote] I remember when Charlotte Coleman died, the cause was murky, band still may be.

Charlotte Coleman had years of drug use, anorexia and bulemia in her life. She was not a healthy 33 year old.

by Anonymousreply 40February 25, 2018 10:54 PM

We know that now, r40. There was a lot of hemming and hawing when she died. ("Asthma, um, maybe.")

by Anonymousreply 41February 25, 2018 10:57 PM

Honestly I am a curious person, when someone dies I always want to know why and there are no exceptions.

by Anonymousreply 42February 25, 2018 11:32 PM

Her acting credits mostly dried up 20 years ago, for a much loved actress this seems odd, added to that her early demise, I sense a troubled soul.

by Anonymousreply 43February 25, 2018 11:34 PM

Still sad...

by Anonymousreply 44February 27, 2018 4:33 AM

Not that anyone thinks differently, but dying from an OD is not a natural death. They must know of some health problem she had. And I would bet that it is NOT cancer. As someone said, that would have already been said were it true.

by Anonymousreply 45February 27, 2018 5:22 AM

Emma died of a heart attack. It can happen at any age. A close friend, who is healthy, slim, doesn't smoke, drink alcohol, doesn't do recreational drugs and goes to the gym, collapsed one day while walking her dog. She had a rare heart aliment and actually had gone to see her PCP a few months before, guess he missed it.

Lots of people, even those with health insurance, don't see their primary care doctors for a yearly physical. I'm not shocked by anything I hear re people and their 'sudden' health issues.

Well, some people consider "heart attack" and "respiratory failure" to be natural causes, so if I take too many drugs and my heart stops beating, it's a heart attack. Natural causes.

I'm betting drugs are involved and when it becomes public, the family will say she suffered from "terrible insomnia" or she had fallen on the job once, got addicted to pain killers and it's all the fault of the doctors for prescribing opioids.

by Anonymousreply 47February 28, 2018 6:49 PM

[quote] Emma died of a heart attack.

You know this how? Did the family call you and tell you that "our Emma" had a nice, clean heart attack?

by Anonymousreply 48February 28, 2018 6:51 PM

[quote] if I take too many drugs and my heart stops beating, it's a heart attack. Natural causes.

No, that's called dying of a drug overdose.

by Anonymousreply 49February 28, 2018 6:52 PM

[quote]Her agent is saying she died of "natural causes." Dying at 53 is just too damn young. RIP

I love the way on DL - if someone dies at 53 it's suddenly considered 'too damn young' -otherwise it's ancient. I even read on here someone dying at 77 was a tragic early death.

& of course there are many people here who want people who are in their mid-70s to be president.

She was never very funny - just played "stupid". Some people find that funny.

by Anonymousreply 50February 28, 2018 6:58 PM

[quote]You know this how? Did the family call you and tell you that "our Emma" had a nice, clean heart attack?

Do you have reading comprehension problems? I linked an article which clearly stated "cause of death revealed".

There sure are some nasty POS ppl at DL these days. There seems to be a huge influx of troll since Trump won the election. It seems I cannot go into any thread here without seeing nasty weirdos debating every damn post, even in the non-controversial threads, these roaches come out of the woodwork to argue.

It seems the Russian bots are even permeating celebrity threads. Or you are just a deranged nasty person. Pick one.

How does one die from natural causes at 53?

Sunday, February 25, 2018 Blind Item #3

It is officially being called one thing, but this foreign born B- list mostly television actress who you all know from a movie appearance died of an accidental drug overdose.

by Anonymousreply 52February 28, 2018 7:19 PM

R51, some posters here are deeply miserable people. If you get into a debate with one of them, even over a benign issue, you will sense their nastiness for real. I shudder to think that they walk around us, seemingly normal, but completely corrupted inside.

by Anonymousreply 53February 28, 2018 7:33 PM

And some people are assholes who aren't very smart.

by Anonymousreply 54February 28, 2018 8:02 PM

[quote][R51], some posters here are deeply miserable people. If you get into a debate with one of them, even over a benign issue, you will sense their nastiness for real. I shudder to think that they walk around us, seemingly normal, but completely corrupted inside.

Some nasty trolls ruined the "The View" show's Meghan McCain thread. There were many interesting perspectives by articulate intelligent posters, then out of the blue, some trolls or just plain miserable angry depressed people, came into the thread to profess their 'love' for Meghan and twist posters words. I always get the biggest laugh when actual trolls accuse normal posters of being trolls. These trolls are incredibly psychotic.

Meghan happens to be universally despised by most intelligent thinking people. Yet these people kept going on about how wonderful she was.

Emma fell out of love with acting, which is why she disappeared some years back. She didn’t enjoy it anymore and fell in love with gardening and a quiet life out of London with her husband. She wasn’t a party girl in the drug sense of the word; she was very reflective and thoughtful.

by Anonymousreply 56February 28, 2018 8:31 PM

Emma was my best friend. And beloved family member.

by Anonymousreply 57February 28, 2018 8:51 PM

Notting Hill is my favorite romantic comedy of all time. And she's a big part of what makes it so good. She was quirky, charming, warm and unforgettable on screen. She enriched my life. RIP Emma.

by Anonymousreply 58February 28, 2018 9:13 PM

Jeez, someone had better go check on Dylan Moran and Mark Heap. That's 2 co-stars from "How Do You Want Me?" who have bought the farm.

by Anonymousreply 59February 28, 2018 9:20 PM

Why is somebody pushing a drugs overdose story here?

by Anonymousreply 60February 28, 2018 10:45 PM

Also Frank Finlay r59, although he was pushing 90. So young...

by Anonymousreply 61February 28, 2018 10:58 PM

[quote]Why is somebody pushing a drugs overdose story here?

Because this is DL. Over the past few years it's been overrun with miserable, sour and rotten people. People who simply come into threads to ruin them.

by Anonymousreply 62March 1, 2018 2:21 AM

The Butter Cartel finally silenced her.
