Have you been? Was it fun or just tiresome? I’m old (37). Should I bother going?
Island House in Key West

If you have that kind of money to burn on the hotel room, it could be fun. I think a "normal" sized room with your own bath starts at around $300 per night. For that price you'll be there with rich eldergays and other moneyed type gays, it can be fun, but with places like that it's always luck of the draw as to who's there at any given moment. The on site restaurant is pretty good . One thing I don't like is that it's really a loooong walk to anythng else interesting in town including the bars, so you may have to uber around.

Is it like a bathhouse all the time?

It’s for basic elder gays with no imagination or sense of adventure. Rent an Airbnb room/cottage and explore the island on your own instead of being trapped in a canned atmosphere.

Men can acquire day passes for $25, which are valid until from whenever you buy them until 8 AM the next day.
Without a room of your own, the only cruisy areas are the indoor jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna, as well as a “video room,” with four video screens showing porn, and vinyl benches around the sides, with a kind of sawhorse construction in the center, on which the only possible position is dog-style.
Other visitors there seem mostly couples, though many of them are open, like the man from one couple whom I watched one night take three consecutive bareback loads in the video room.
It’s a very relaxing place, though way overpriced for what you get, and the distance to other attractions can be challenging, though the streets seem pretty safe. The fare at the in-house restaurant is quite good, with people visiting just to eat there. A full bar with various beers and wines.
BTW, as far as I can tell, Island House is just about the only place where you can easily hook up. If anyone knows of any other outlets, please advise.

I've gone to Key West so many times that I really don't need to do much there but hang out by the pool. That's why I like the Island House. I can go read and relax all day and then at night get up to whatever shenanigans I want (remember Key West's beaches are terrible). It's true that it's very expensive and thus you're getting a richer, older crowd. And it's a gamble as to who's staying there, but they do get a lot of day-pass people in and guys on passing cruises who come in for a few hours. The restaurant and bar are nice to have so near. And last time I was there, I barebacked a West Point cadet by the pool at 5am in front of a crowd of 10 people, one of whom bought me a shot after I nutted in the kids ass.

I much prefer the Equator down the street for gay gun. A little less $$ and you get a much more fun crowd there because of that I think. When I was there they served a free hot breakfast, but not sure if they still do. Rooms were nice and they had a free happy hour where the staff was always trying to get everyone to have some fun.

Really? I rent a cottage on sunset key, yes it sets u back a bit, but it’s worth it. U can get a pass to island house, fuck and get it out of your system, then go back to your cottage off the key and chill for the rest of vaca. J’Adore Moi Vacacion.

I stayed there once. Had a great time. The room was nice. The pool was nice. The restaurant had really surprisingly good food.
I really don't have anything bad to say about it.

Key West is about as basic as basic can get. Carnival Cruise on land, with gays.

Oh, thanks.

What is the age range? At 37, I’m guessing OP will be on the younger end of the spectrum.

There were lots of hot guys in their late 20s and early 30s there when I visited But yeah, also lots of guys in their 40s. A few 50s and older but not that many.

Disagree with those who say bars and other attractions are far from Island House. I’ve stayed there a few times and everything of interest is in walking distance - unless you’re a serious couch potato.
I agree that rooms are pricey, but given the amenities (including free drinks during happy hour) and the high cost of lodging anywhere decent in Key West, the prices are not out of line.
Yes, you could stay elsewhere and visit on a day pass, but the beauty of a place like Island house is in being able to walk out of your room at any hour of the day or night with no keys or money or a stitch of clothing on and dip into the pool or the hot tub and then go back to your room and go to sleep
