Jennifer Lawrence: I don't regret dropping out of middle school

“I am self-educated.”

by Anonymousreply 74February 27, 2018 5:44 PM

Why would she regret it? She is successful and rich.

If her acting career failed and she was waiting tables at Olive Garden, she would regret it.

by Anonymousreply 1February 23, 2018 6:50 PM

She probably should regret it since every time she opens her mouth she sounds like a dumbass.

by Anonymousreply 2February 23, 2018 6:51 PM

Ah. I did not know this but now everything is explained. I loved her in Winter’s Bone but with each new role I have grown to extremely dislike her.

She reminds me of Hilary Swank. Jennifer, please go wherever Hilary went. Thank you.

[quote] Jennifer Lawrence: I don't regret dropping out of middle school

A natural fit for the role of 'Hollywood star fixing democracy".

by Anonymousreply 4February 23, 2018 7:07 PM

Most actors don't seem to finish school or they are tutored. At least the ones who start young. This is a different story from what she was saying when Silver Linings Playbook was being promoted so now it looks like her story has changed from "I just happened into fame" to "It's been the plan since I was 14".

by Anonymousreply 5February 23, 2018 7:26 PM

"STUPID FUCKING GASH". Every time she opens her mouth, more babies fall out!!

by Anonymousreply 6February 23, 2018 7:27 PM

[quote] her story has changed from "I just happened into fame" to "It's been the plan since I was 14".

More accurately, fame came on her. Repeatedly.

by Anonymousreply 7February 23, 2018 7:32 PM

Self educated meaning she learned how to suck old men's cocks for fame and riches.

by Anonymousreply 8February 23, 2018 7:33 PM

She dropped out of middle school so she could play a young whore on The Bill Engvall Show

[quote]“I am self-educated.”

At fucking for roles. It comes naturally for me!

by Anonymousreply 10February 23, 2018 7:58 PM

George Burns said the same thing and he never made it past third grade.

He said he had a photographic memory because he was forced too. He said he couldn't read very well so his assistant would read him the lines and he'd memorize them quickly so no one would know how badly he read. Not a good way to live.

by Anonymousreply 11February 23, 2018 8:12 PM

I mean, she's lucky. This probably works for, like, 0.08% of the population. Her dumbass young fans who will fail miserably and become hookers if they try to live this way don't really need this encouragement.

by Anonymousreply 12February 23, 2018 8:16 PM

She's a stupid who're, and I don't even find her attractive.

by Anonymousreply 13February 23, 2018 8:18 PM

Don't feel too sorry for George Burns, r11.

He sure didn't.

by Anonymousreply 14February 23, 2018 8:19 PM

Isn't it illegal to not finish at least a middle school in US?

by Anonymousreply 15February 23, 2018 8:28 PM

This explains so much

by Anonymousreply 16February 23, 2018 8:40 PM

A lot of American actors have no education and it shows, often in ways they are not aware of.

by Anonymousreply 17February 23, 2018 8:44 PM

Does she discuss current events with herself like Cheeto?

by Anonymousreply 18February 23, 2018 8:56 PM

How is that even possible, to leave school at that age? I thought if you wanted to drop out you had to be older than that. If you aren't attending school don't you have to at least demonstrate that you are being home schooled or tutored or something?

by Anonymousreply 19February 23, 2018 8:56 PM

I also thought it was illegal to drop out of middle school. Hopefully she went to those middle schools that extended through 9th grade. It's reckless to brag about succeeding in life with such a slight education when she has so many young, impressionable fans. It could only work in Hollywood, but so few people have the combination of luck and skill to make a living of the entertainment industry. The rest of the population with just a middle school education will be lucky to even snag an underpaying blue-collar job.

by Anonymousreply 20February 23, 2018 8:58 PM

So she doesn't know : there were two world wars that didn't involve Luke Skywalker; that Beethoven is not a dog movie; or that the theory of relativity is not a choice between ordering Indian or sushi. Can't wait for next political lecture.

by Anonymousreply 21February 23, 2018 9:03 PM

R20 agree with everything you wrote.

Children in the entertainment industry are required to have an on-set tutor (until 16, I'm guessing) but it's probably like homeschooling, not strictly monitored or regulated. I don't know this for a fact or anything, but I'm going to guess that maybe one of JLaw's parents listed themselves as her "on-set tutor" or legal purposes and then just let her goof off and do whatever.

But yeah, it's really weird to think that this multimillionaire movie star most likely can't solve an intermediate algebra problem.

by Anonymousreply 22February 23, 2018 9:14 PM

If your parents will let you leave school it's pretty easy. They sign off that you're being home schooled. I thought they had to have tutors for underage actors.

by Anonymousreply 23February 23, 2018 9:15 PM

Can she do maths? Algebra, trig?

by Anonymousreply 24February 23, 2018 9:16 PM

Home schooled=NO school in many cases

by Anonymousreply 25February 23, 2018 9:18 PM

Now I get her. Makes more sense to me now.

by Anonymousreply 26February 23, 2018 9:19 PM

I can see that. Claim the kid is being home schooled, and there really isn't any follow up to make sure the kid is being educated. Not sure how old she was when she started acting but I would think on the set there would be some sort of oversight? But then with all of the stories we have been hearing about what goes on in Hollywood making sure these kids can solve equations is probably not the highest priority.

by Anonymousreply 27February 23, 2018 9:23 PM

The lack of education becomes more obvious as actors age out of their early twenties. People don't expect much from the under 25.

by Anonymousreply 28February 23, 2018 9:25 PM

Can she read? Have a good vocabulary, good grammar? Know SAT words?

by Anonymousreply 29February 23, 2018 9:28 PM

This is all a little much, but thank you

by Anonymousreply 30February 23, 2018 9:29 PM

^^ No, but shes a great musician & florist.

Tulips on your organ.

by Anonymousreply 31February 23, 2018 9:30 PM

^^^ thanks for reminding me, my partner wont eat veal, and I have a hankerin'! I may go out for some this weekend!

by Anonymousreply 32February 23, 2018 9:33 PM

Mark Wahlberg got his HS diploma at 42 because he wanted to set a good example for his kids. He apparently did an online program. I'm sure it was awkward doing that at his age, but good for him that he made the effort. She doesn't have any regrets now but she will later. There is no reason to be proud of not being educated at such a basic level. If she really is going to take a year off from acting hopefully she'll use that time to educate herself in some way.

by Anonymousreply 33February 23, 2018 9:36 PM

I would flunk a US Constitution class these days ..I'm 60

by Anonymousreply 34February 23, 2018 9:47 PM

Didn’t Brad Pitt drop out of high school? That’s what I heard anyway.

by Anonymousreply 35February 23, 2018 10:00 PM

She doesn't regret it, but the entire world regrets it for her. Please be gone, stupid cunt, we shall have no more of thee

by Anonymousreply 36February 23, 2018 10:01 PM

Brad Pitt dropped out of college. He was one credit shy of a degree in journalism.

by Anonymousreply 37February 23, 2018 10:03 PM

I wonder if she would have better taste in projects if she were more educated. I think she's a very good actress, but she makes bad choices. After the Oscar win and the comercial success of SLP and Hunger Games she could have done any project she wanted. She picked Passengers. I didn't see it, but from my understanding she was the girl while Pratt was the protagonist. Why play the girl when you can be the protagonist?

by Anonymousreply 38February 23, 2018 10:30 PM

I would play girl for Pratt ANY time

by Anonymousreply 39February 23, 2018 10:39 PM

You don't have to have intelligence to be an actor. A lot of them are dumb as bricks. Jennifer Lawrence is no exception. It's evident from her behavior that she's dumb as a rock. Her fangurls will no doubt squeal "but she's got plenty of money and that's all that matters!!" But I don't envy her. I don't envy stupid people.

by Anonymousreply 40February 23, 2018 10:45 PM

She might be self educated, but she's still boring AF.

by Anonymousreply 41February 23, 2018 11:23 PM

What happens when your parents dint give a fuck, you get passed around

by Anonymousreply 42February 23, 2018 11:27 PM

Well hopefully she has someone smart managing her money because the best days of her career are already behind her and she really isn't capable of doing anything else.

by Anonymousreply 43February 23, 2018 11:32 PM

And they wonder why so many British actors nab the plum roles.

by Anonymousreply 44February 23, 2018 11:58 PM

Worked for me!

by Anonymousreply 45February 24, 2018 12:07 AM

I think she is amazingly talented. That makes up for a lot of annoying things about her for me. She really is one of the strongest actors in Hollywood

R45 Wow is that a real quote by LL? L-O-L!

go back to school bitch

ur 15 miin are up

by Anonymousreply 48February 24, 2018 12:42 AM

I wont be surprised if she isn't stating the whole truth on this. I don't think you can drop out in middle school. And dropping out isn't the same thing as getting home schooled whether at home or on set. She is having an AnnE crisis with public opinion and somehow she thinks this will help. Does she think people have come to believe she is too smart and elite and that is why they have turned on her?

by Anonymousreply 49February 24, 2018 1:26 AM

Five years ago she was saying that she fast tracked through high school and the plan was to go to medical school or acting. What is with the 180 on this?

by Anonymousreply 50February 24, 2018 2:09 AM

"Five years ago she was saying that she fast tracked through high school and the plan was to go to medical school or acting. What is with the 180 on this?"

Maybe her brain is fried from drugs or something. Because she's not making sense. Something is definitely wrong with her.

by Anonymousreply 51February 24, 2018 2:19 AM

R50 it's important to keep in mind that pretty much all actors/celebs are bullshit artists, and everything they say about themselves should be taken with a grain of salt.

I remember reading an article where JLaw said she suffered from social anxiety growing up and considered herself a "misfit" amongst her peers. But then another article described her as the most popular girl at her middle school, and there's a bunch of pictures on the Internet of her at that age hanging out with friends and even a photo from her 7th grade yearbook where she was voted "Most Talkative." Doesn't really add up. Reminds me of how Tori Amos also claimed to be an outcast growing up when she was actually voted homecoming queen in HS.

With that said, I think it's kind of neat of her for being probably the only young superstar who isn't involved with social media at all.

Maybe she is involved in social media just not using her own name.

R52 She has a Facebook page

by Anonymousreply 54February 24, 2018 3:03 AM

What could be funnier than anonymous Datalounge queens going on about someone else's lack of intelligence, whorishness, and unlovability?

Enjoy going back to your jobs on Monday, if you even have jobs.

Jennifer Lawrence=rich rich rich. Oscar winner. And she doesn't any of you. But you all know her.

Ha ha ha.

by Anonymousreply 55February 24, 2018 3:05 AM

*And she doesn't know any of you.

by Anonymousreply 56February 24, 2018 3:06 AM

[quote] I think it's kind of neat of her for being probably the only young superstar who isn't involved with social media at all.

For that don't you have to first learn to spell?

by Anonymousreply 57February 24, 2018 3:18 AM

r57, she can read her scripts that she makes millions of dollars from.

by Anonymousreply 58February 24, 2018 3:20 AM

She dropped out of school at 14. Each state not the feds, set a standard for schools.

New York requires people go to school till they're 16 and California till they are 18. If she "dropped out" earlier it wasn't legal.

She says: “I dropped out of middle school. I don’t technically have a GED or a diploma. I am self-educated."

The way she says "technically" would lead one to believe she lied about it.

by Anonymousreply 59February 24, 2018 3:23 AM

Yes, r59, I'm sure there's a warrant out for her arrest.

by Anonymousreply 60February 24, 2018 3:24 AM

Andrew Mellon founder of the Mellon banking empire was asked if he felt embarrassed not having a high school education and he said "I don't have an education, I just have to be smart enough to know how to hire people who do."

by Anonymousreply 61February 24, 2018 3:25 AM

Someone should have taught her not to say that.

by Anonymousreply 62February 24, 2018 3:43 AM

She will probably remain rich until she is at least 50...unless her manager is robbing her of everything.

by Anonymousreply 63February 24, 2018 3:45 AM

^Sure, Jan.

by Anonymousreply 64February 24, 2018 3:48 AM

"New York requires people go to school till they're 16 and California till they are 18. If she "dropped out" earlier it wasn't legal."

r59, she's from Kentucky.

by Anonymousreply 65February 24, 2018 3:52 AM

R63 Nah...I predict she'll be broke by 40, living in a double wide in her home state of Kentucky, reminiscing about of her glory days slobbing Harvey's knob while trying to kick a meth habit

by Anonymousreply 66February 24, 2018 4:33 AM

I think you're mistaken, r66. You just described your mother, only she's in her 80s. She was 16 when she had you, wasn't she? If only she'd had a Harvey instead of that crew that regularly gang banged her.

by Anonymousreply 67February 24, 2018 5:28 AM

Intelligence is really in the way when you have to suck off some fat Hollywood studio boss, hey Jen.

by Anonymousreply 68February 24, 2018 5:34 AM

[quote]She picked Passengers. I didn't see it, but from my understanding she was the girl while Pratt was the protagonist. Why play the girl when you can be the protagonist?

Passengers really did have an interesting and thought-provoking concept, especially in the age of endless comic book adaptations and unnecessary remakes. With that said, I'm not surprised at all that it didn't do well. The concept and ending was probably just too unpalatable for modern audiences. Think about it: Would the movie Titanic really had been as popular as is it was if Rose decided to just sink into the ocean along with Jack? I appreciated JLaw trying to go off the beaten path, but it really was a tone-deaf choice, especially after her previous "girl power" roles that the public was most familiar with (Winter's Bone, Hunger Games, X-Men).

Anyway, the fact that she picked Passengers really does sort of reveal her shallowness. I recall one online commentator saying something like, "How to transform Passengers from a romance to a horror movie: cast Jonah Hill as the male lead instead of Chris Pratt." Lol. Also the entire job basically consisted of hanging out and doing sex scenes with a sexy male costar, plus the entire idea behind it is that her character is so gorgeous and irresistible that, after one look, a guy instantly falls in love and gets driven to do something wrong.

by Anonymousreply 69February 24, 2018 11:02 AM

The plot of Passengers, for those unaware: spaceship is transporting a bunch of passengers in suspended animation to a distant planet. Pratt's character inexplicably wakes up when his hibernation pod thingie malfunctions. Because there's still 90-something years left until the ship reaches its destination, he's essentially doomed to live out the rest of his days all alone on the ship. He sees JLaw's character (who is named Aurora, just like the princess from Sleeping Beauty, get it? *eyeroll*) in her pod, gets the hots for her, and then wakes her up so he won't be alone, essentially forcing her to suffer the same fate along with him. Near the end, he somehow figures out a way to fix her pod thingie so she can go back to sleep, but she... chooses instead to live out the rest of her life with him on the ship.

How it should've ended: JLaw's character wakes up along with the rest of the passengers as the ship arrives at whatever planet it was destined for, wonders if her memories of Pratt were just a dream, and then finding an ancient, mummified, 100-year-old love letter/rose/necklace/whatever that Pratt's character had left for her.

by Anonymousreply 70February 24, 2018 11:06 AM

Wow R70 that would be much better!

All you you on here pretending Jlaw is untalented are just making the rest of your criticisms of her seem like basic bitchiness. She's obviously talented.

by Anonymousreply 71February 24, 2018 12:21 PM

Did you see her and her big bag of bullshit on "60 Minutes"? I did nudity to take my body back again after that hacking abuse! (yeah, right, ZZZzzz...)

by Anonymousreply 72February 27, 2018 5:33 PM

R72, That sounds like it came straight from a Kardashian/Jenner mouth.

by Anonymousreply 73February 27, 2018 5:39 PM

R73 Well she is a self admitted Kardashian super fan
