Sorry, OP, but Adam wasn't supposed to get any medal at all and he walked away with a bronze from the Team competition. He turned in a fantastic performance that helped the team secure its standing. And, he did a great job in the individual competition, but there were others who were simply better. It isn't like every other member of Team USA is going home with hardware. The USA is in fifth place in the overall medal standings.

Plus, whether you like it or not -- and whether you like him or not -- NBC has been quite taken with Adam. And, he turned down their offer to join them for the rest of the week so that he could stay with Team USA. Many others would have jumped at the chance to get their five minutes on the air, but he stuck by his teammates and politely declined the offer. Hardly the attributes of a "bitchy club queen."

I love Adam Rippon. Yes he's feeling himself but he was in top level competition shape and performed to his abilities. Blame the American media. No one who follows figure skating expected more from Rippon. He hasn't got the tricks. He's the U.S. men's team third choice and not young. But he wasn't the one who disappointed. What's funny is that what got Adam the most press was when he skated beautifully to "Arrival of the Birds" . People fell in love with his skating so he did accomplish that. Yeah quads are nice, but the only one I saw that combined quads with beautiful skating was the gold medal winner from Japan.

Adam has a personality and didn't fall on his ass during the Olympics--which makes me wonder if OP actually bothered to watch figure skating. But part of the reason he's getting so much attention is that Nathan Chen crashed and burned during the short and pulled himself out of medal contention--and he was being built up as the gold-medal hopeful. That left NBC needing a feel-good story about skating--since there are no other gold medal hopes. There are no real medal contenders in Ladies (though they'll pump up Mirai Nagasu as such, but she doesn't have the choreography) and while the U.S. had the edge for a bronze in ice dance, no one cares about ice dance if they don't already follow skating.

Adam worked damn hard during the season to get that Olympic berth--his age and his lack of a reliable quad worked against him. He came back from a major injury at age 26. There's nothing lightweight about what he did here.

The skater who was appallingly ignored, by the way, was Vincent Zhou--he pulled himself up to sixth, landed a quad lutz and NBC never bothered to show his free skate in prime time. I sure would have preferred to see that instead of some damn downhill practice run.
