And not on just the Sal Mineo part. James Dean is bisexual. Natalie Wood is dating the bad boy to get back at the daddy. Daddy is rejecting her because her budding sexuality is overwhelming him. Jim Backus is almost a eunuch. There's this threesome going on between Wood, Dean, and Mineo. And the gay is killed at the end. The only straight guy seems to be Wood's bad boy boyfriend. But then he has a tender moment with Dean before he dies.
Rebel Without A Cause-1955- it's a big commentary on sexuality

I always thought this black and white screentest plays better than the same scene in the movie. The gay subtext becomes overt here.
And then the end with Wood, Mineo, and Dean mugging for the camera. Both Mineo and Wood look at Dean longingly, and Dean flirts back with both like he'd fuck either one.

This a small film with some very undistinguished people in it.

I've always found tall and dark-haired Corey Allen (Buzz) much more attractive than short blondie James Dean in this film. But Corey quickly got a little pudgy and prematurely middle age-looking by decade's end. Dean, of course, is forever preserved in youthful glow.

I found James Dean's overacting in the "TEARING ME APART" scene pretty funny.

^ Yes. Comedian Jim Backus trying to be a serious actor is pretty funny too.
And that Natalie is such a Weed.

Natalie Wood was always bad in everything.

Especially the Pacific.

Mineo seems kind of bitchy in R1’s clip, blowing smoke straight in Wood’s face.

"You can come out. It's okay. People will still like you." And then BOOM. Plato gets blown away.
I always wondered if it was an accident or whether Dean committed suicide after he saw the final edit of this movie.
