Anyone else a fan? This was the classic sleeper show. It took a season to find its legs, but then grew into one of the most acclaimed shows on television. The final season is now on Netflix. The final episode is brilliant.
Watched it, LOVED it, cried when it was over. I always felt like I was just one of a handful of people that watched. Could never find anyone else. Thank goodness for Alan Sepinwall.

I think the show found its traction when it stopped focusing on Joe as a sort of proto-Jobs and started emphasizing the character relationships. My favorite scene in the finale was Donna's "I have an idea" in the diner.

R2: sad.

By gay stuff you mean sex scenes? The HIV scare episodes I consider gay stuff.

Absolutely LOVED this show. The best show that no one watched. I swear, people are clueless. Anyway, was sorry to see it end. I was so invested in the characters. Although the ending was sad, I was really happy that Joe finally found his footing. He was by far the most interesting character of them all.

I just added it to my watch list.

R6, insulting people who don't share your TV/movie preferences is always an effective way to win an argument. Halt and Catch Fire, unlike other cable shows, did not really get as much media (incl social media) attention and advertising. In my case, I was not aware the show existed until after the first season had ended, and found out about it on DL.

Uhm, no. Not by far. But I did watch the entire series. It was okay but nothing that I’ll ever pine for.

R6, I didn't think the ending was sad, although I was sad to see it end. It was about new beginnings that are in some sense like old beginnings. Cameron sets this up in her remarks about recursion - solving a little problem continuously to address a larger issue.
My hunch is that Joe won't last in teaching.

I also really enjoyed the show.

Cameron leaves immediately after the show to travel to San Junipero. :)

It's a fascinating series. I enjoyed the journey from home computers and the internet being mostly theoretical to becoming reality.

It was kind of poignant that the gang always had cutting-edge ideas (chat rooms, browsers, search engines, etc etc) but were doomed to always lose out to the competition that later became famous. That was the point in Donna's poolside speech in the finale - she had learned and accepted that something better would always come around.

To that point, when it became apparent that Rover would fail Donna was able to just move on,even joke about Yahoo, and start thinking of the next thing to work on. On the other hand, with Comet failing, Joe threw up his hands and literally ran away. (Cam was in the middle.) Joe was a big personality, but ultimately lacked resilience.

One of the most acclaimed shows on TV? You wish and so does the cast. Never watched the thing, Pace should never have been cast in it.

The change of attitude was baffling. They had a dynamic story in the first season and then went on to make the second season into a boring drag fest with no inner logic. It's like they hired new writers every season and none of them ever watched the previous episodes. Lee Pace is brilliant in it, though, he made me believe in his character despite him being the biggest victim of the jerkaround writing style.

God the writing was awful in the first two seasons. A lot of WTF moments that didn't seem real.
