'My punishment is isolation from my tribe': Susan Sarandon reveals her activism left her shunned by peers...

Oh boo hoo hoo hoo.

by Anonymousreply 1February 16, 2018 3:02 PM

Who cares... as long as she looks great (and she does in those photos). Great actress too.

by Anonymousreply 2February 16, 2018 3:04 PM

"I don't regret it". That says it all - she's a Far, Far Left crackpot who has shit for brains.

by Anonymousreply 3February 16, 2018 3:05 PM

You either have the courage of your convictions or you don't. If you're going to express unpopular stands, you don't then whine about being treated as unpopular.

What a baby.

by Anonymousreply 4February 16, 2018 3:07 PM

She's a 108. She'll be dead soon.

by Anonymousreply 5February 16, 2018 3:09 PM

Susan on a good day.

Susan has strongly held beliefs, and she stands by them. I stand by mine, too. I strongly believe she’s an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 9February 16, 2018 3:15 PM

I think the idea that it might be important that someone or anyone has a

[quote]a war of words with Will and Grace star Debra Messing on Twitter.

is hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 10February 16, 2018 3:19 PM

r10 nobody reaches more people than celebrities, comments like yours are idiotic and/or manipulative

by Anonymousreply 11February 16, 2018 3:22 PM

If she doesn't regret it then no story here really. Why wouldn't people be angry with her? And she seems fine with the consequences

by Anonymousreply 12February 16, 2018 3:23 PM

Yawn.

by Anonymousreply 13February 16, 2018 3:28 PM

People who allow themselves to be influenced or manipulated by anyone, celebrity or not, on social media, are nitwits.

People who get their political views from anyone, celebrity or not, on social media, are nitwits.

People who care about a "war of words" of anyone, celebrity or not, on social media, are nitwits.

People who participate in a "war of words" with anyone, celebrity or not, on social media, are nitwits.

by Anonymousreply 14February 16, 2018 3:30 PM

Disagree R14, there are some people worth looking up to. Ad if you believe someone is intelligent and compassionate and sees something a certain way, it's natural you will consider that viewpoint.

by Anonymousreply 15February 16, 2018 3:32 PM

She inadvertently helped get Trump elected. Good going Louise, now go drive off a cliff.

by Anonymousreply 16February 16, 2018 3:34 PM

If an arena full of people ever chant "lock her up" about her, then she can talk.

by Anonymousreply 17February 16, 2018 3:34 PM

I LOVE Sarandon. I disagree with her regarding Hillary being worse than Trump but she's a woman of enormous integrity with strong shoulders to carry the consequences of her activism. She was right about Guantanamo, she was right about Iraq, she was right about that fucking pipeline and time and time again she overcomes whatever backlash people throw at her until five years later when everybody finally agrees with her.

She is somebody I admire very much.

by Anonymousreply 18February 16, 2018 3:35 PM

She"s a stupid cunt who fancys herself an intellectual. Good that she's paying a price for helping to give us Trump.

by Anonymousreply 19February 16, 2018 3:35 PM

The problem with actors who do get behind causes is that, even if the cause is good, the effectiveness of their message is almost always hampered by their pomposity and self importance.

The other, far more troubling problem, is that this obsession with celebrities has become toxic.

You don’t have to look too far to see a particularly nasty example.

by Anonymousreply 20February 16, 2018 3:39 PM

How much sway did she actually have, though? She was loud, but so were alot of people. It's hard for me to believe that anything she said or did mattered to the voters. I think you guys give her way too much credit.

R15, considering someone's viewpoint is an American ideal. Nobody has to go along with said viewpoint. Suggesting that her words had that much power is unrealistic. She isn't the Pied Piper, and anyone who followed her was headed over the cliff to begin with.

by Anonymousreply 21February 16, 2018 3:44 PM

Quite amazed just how far to the right DL is ffs

by Anonymousreply 22February 16, 2018 3:53 PM

When she dies, I will make a special trip to LA to piss on her grave.

by Anonymousreply 23February 16, 2018 3:56 PM

who is right wing on this thread??

by Anonymousreply 24February 16, 2018 3:58 PM

She says in the article that the Hollywood culture of sex for roles started in the 60s/70s.

Everything pre-Susie is ahistoric i guess. An utter twit.

by Anonymousreply 25February 16, 2018 3:58 PM

One she doesn't live in LA, second you're fucked in the head, r23. FF

by Anonymousreply 26February 16, 2018 3:59 PM

Fuck Sarandon...fuck her and Matt Damon right up their faux liberal assholes!

by Anonymousreply 27February 16, 2018 4:01 PM

Thank you Susan for supporting an ancient, back bencher 1950s Socialist Do Nothing that gave Me my talking points. Eventually I would have thought to call her “Crooked” on my own though. I have the best mind.

Please comeback for 2020, the decrepid rape porn writer, tool of the NRA is ready for his next closeup!

All the best to you Susan - you are the GREATEST - MUCH better than Meryl. Everybody says that!

by Anonymousreply 28February 16, 2018 4:07 PM

Nobody is, R24. R22 sounds young. I give the young a wide berth, since I was young once too, and just as hardcore at the time. Still, I love and admire the young for their idealism. We need them, they keep us honest.

by Anonymousreply 29February 16, 2018 4:08 PM

Fuck Susan Sarandon.

by Anonymousreply 30February 16, 2018 4:10 PM

The bitch lost her marbles when Tim left her and she lacks the sense to keep her stupid shit quiet

by Anonymousreply 31February 16, 2018 4:10 PM

Of course we isolate cunts

by Anonymousreply 32February 16, 2018 4:11 PM

R32. Hahaha. Thank you.

by Anonymousreply 33February 16, 2018 4:15 PM

Sarandon is not someone I would pick to help shape my political philosophy.

by Anonymousreply 34February 16, 2018 4:18 PM

at least she has her Oscar that is the important thing.

by Anonymousreply 35February 16, 2018 4:19 PM

She’s a notorious cunt on sets, too, so it’s not just her politics which alienate her peers.

by Anonymousreply 36February 16, 2018 4:20 PM

Elections have consequences. Sarandon knows that very well, but she could not get over her personal animosity for the Clintons and took the opportunity to openly dump on them last year. Let's face it, she will not feel the consequences of the past election and she knows it. She is not being brave by being a contrarian, she is just being petty and vindictive.

by Anonymousreply 37February 16, 2018 4:22 PM

After Bernie lost she should have just not spoken about politics anymore but she seems compelled to give her opinions constantly.

by Anonymousreply 38February 16, 2018 4:28 PM

Come on, R36, stick to the facts if you can even grasp that concept. Sarandon has NO such reputation on sets. I had a friend star opposite her and liked her a lot. The worst she could say is that Sarandon has no illusion that everyone will stay friends after the shoot is over, she's been through so many.

by Anonymousreply 39February 16, 2018 4:30 PM

You know who I blame? People who didn't vote at all.

How many of you reading this thread didn't vote?

by Anonymousreply 40February 16, 2018 4:32 PM

R21 it isn't that she has much sway. It's that she's the most public example of a certain kind of really toxic lefty. They're generally very idealistic uncompromising and privileged. They're always out to destroy anyone who isn't as far to the left as them. They'll put a stop to a good idea because it isn't a perfect idea. All the while they are protected from the consequences of their politics. She isn't a dreamer who might get deported, she isn't a young woman in a red state that can't get birth control, she doesn't have to worry about gay rights getting rolled back. She can safely pontificate about socialism while her daughter blogs about how terrible all the nannies are these days.

by Anonymousreply 41February 16, 2018 4:36 PM

So she doesn’t regret contributing to the election of an incompetent, dangerous buffoon.

Well the rest of us regret your ‘activism’.

I guess being an asswipe amounts to ‘activism’ these days.

by Anonymousreply 42February 16, 2018 4:37 PM

I agree with most of what r18 says but she voted for someone who may well have also been colluding with the Russians. Would the result have been the same if she hadn't voted at all? We will never know but Stein took away actual votes from Hillary in those five states. SS was giddy when she said that Trump being elected president would bring on "the revolution". This isn't a movie. The damage he has done in just one year goes beyond my greatest fears. The toll on the poor, the working class, the elderly, and the environment is not the makings of a fucking revolution. It's a war on anyone who isn't rich. And our home. The only one we've got. She should just stay quiet. This isn't going to win her any friends or bring back the old ones.

by Anonymousreply 43February 16, 2018 4:38 PM

Well said, r41. The daughter is the poster child for a vacuous, self-involved, entitled, Hollywood brat.

by Anonymousreply 44February 16, 2018 4:44 PM

I forgot to add that she enjoys the idea that she is a martyr. She's still working, she's appearing at award shows. She hasn't been black listed, but she talks like she has. Romanticising the idea of being punished for your politics is another annoying far lefty and far right thing. I knew people who where communists in the thirties and onward. One fought Franco. It wasn't fun being harassed by authorities and frequently getting fired because the FBI pressured their employers.

by Anonymousreply 45February 16, 2018 4:47 PM

This is what most people do, though. Here on DL, if someone doesn’t like something they read, they FF the commenter and put them on Ignore. I’ve read countless times “I deleted half my family and friends from FB!” because they made a comment against #metoo, or whatever.

It’s okay, because there are plenty of echo chambers. Everyone can crawl into the cave with their chosen tribe and congratulate themselves on being superior to the other cave people.

Yay!

by Anonymousreply 46February 16, 2018 4:48 PM

The fact that she cites the Iraq War as one of her reasons for not supporting Hillary is the grandest irony of all.

In 2000, she was a Nader girl and said there was no difference between Bush or Gore. We all know how that turned out. I can safely say if Gore had been elected there is no way we would have ended up in Iraq.

So we can actually draw a line from her support for Nader to the US going into Iraq.

by Anonymousreply 47February 16, 2018 4:50 PM

This is how I see Susan with her piers.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 48February 16, 2018 4:51 PM

I like alot of what you said, R43, and my chief gripe is with non-voters and voters who split the ticket. Math is simple, people. If you voted for anyone besides Clinton you effectively elected Trump. Idealism is a virtuous and noble thing but here is proof that it can also bite you in ass.

And I'm still furious with Nader voters.

by Anonymousreply 49February 16, 2018 4:52 PM

In defense of her being a cunt on set, my ex worked at an Off Off, like really Off, Broadway theatre in NYC. She was dating an actor at the time, not Tim, who was the lead in a play at this theatre. She would come around a lot to watch him rehearse and just hang out. He was the cunt. She was a doll. Down to earth. Genuinely friendly. Everyone loved her. And this was when she was in her prime. She was beautiful. And the tits were spectacular;) The stuff of legends.

by Anonymousreply 50February 16, 2018 4:52 PM

Too bad bitch. If you don't want to lose all your friends then learn how to keep your political opinions to yourself and your yap shut.

by Anonymousreply 51February 16, 2018 4:53 PM

R38, she could put this to rest if she wanted to by not talking about it. I think she likes the attention she's been getting for the past year.

by Anonymousreply 52February 16, 2018 5:00 PM

Her kid Eva is openly annoying and probably poorly parented, how about the other ones she had with Tim Robbins?

by Anonymousreply 53February 16, 2018 5:04 PM

J'adore R47.

by Anonymousreply 54February 16, 2018 5:05 PM

Well now she has a new tribe.

by Anonymousreply 55February 16, 2018 5:08 PM

This ridiculous woman and her saggy tit bags makes me laugh.

by Anonymousreply 56February 16, 2018 5:10 PM

Yeah, I'm with r1, boo hoo. She wants it both ways? In lieu of that, she just arrogantly says she's shunned but she's perfectly fine and has no introspection about everything that happened, barely acknowledging the horror show that's in there now. Which is gutless.

Second, she makes the claim here that it was just about being against Clinton. It isn't about that. It isn't about her support of Sanders (I supported him, too, before I supported Clinton) It's about how she took Jill Stein over Clinton when it was crucial to do otherwise, made shady allusions about how she'd prefer Trump to Clinton. None of that is acknowledged or even touched on from her.

Boo hoo hoo hoo.

by Anonymousreply 57February 16, 2018 5:16 PM

I find it kind of funny that the closest thing we've had to the 60s style activism she craves is the Women's March and the #metoo movement, but she can't really be a part of it. The movement is huge, it's grass roots and it's full of righteous anger. Every time she tries to insert herself into it she gets dragged for her I don't vote with my vagina comment. That and claiming that president pussy grabber was better than Hillary. She isn't as tuned in as she thought.

by Anonymousreply 58February 16, 2018 5:20 PM

What r43 says, exactly.

by Anonymousreply 59February 16, 2018 5:23 PM

Has anyone heard what kind of political leanings her ex (Tim Robbins) has? I can't picture him as a conservative. But you never know.

by Anonymousreply 60February 16, 2018 5:24 PM

R60 he supported Bernie.

by Anonymousreply 61February 16, 2018 5:29 PM

Her tits have distanced themselves from her outspoken mouth.

by Anonymousreply 62February 16, 2018 5:29 PM

I consider myself "hard-left", "far-left", "progressive" etc. People like Susan aren't responsible for Trump. There are so many, many other factors that are responsible for Trump, but Susan and the few who voted for Stein are not one of them. Hillary is not queen and is not "entitled " to any kind of crown, nor is she entitled to votes from those who disagree with her hawkishness, her political expediency, her corporate ties and fracking votes. Celebrities and people on DL seem to think most Green party voters were duped by "Russian bots" in some kind of McCarthism 1950's panic. On the contrary, we have always been too progressive for you mainstream dems. People wanted change. There is nothing wrong with that--there is nothing wrong with idealism vs. Compromise. Blame the political system for being so fucked up.

by Anonymousreply 63February 16, 2018 5:33 PM

All this hate because this woman would vote for a warmongering, wall street ass kisser?

You people deserve Donald Trump.

Tim Robbins is a vile human being. The fact that she was with him for so long must have rubbed off.

by Anonymousreply 66February 16, 2018 5:50 PM

I don't think she has much of an impact on whoever occupies the WH, but what I do want to mention is the top photo in OP's link, where SS appears in what looks like a dark green velvet frock.

WHY DON'T WOMEN WEAR SHEER HOSE ANYMORE???

Those knees are hideous. All the $$$ she spent to get ready for the day and her legs cancel out the whole shebang.

by Anonymousreply 67February 16, 2018 6:00 PM

Of course she doesn't regret anything: She's an old, rich, straight woman who is isolated in a Hollywood bubble. Nothing Trump or any Republican does can hurt her -- they'll probably make her richer though.

by Anonymousreply 68February 16, 2018 6:05 PM

R68 You're exactly right. Tax cuts make her richer, she's 71 so she doesn't have to worry about the future, she can't reproduce anymore so who cares about women's reproduction rights, she not gay or nonwhite so who cares about their rights. Nothing really affected her.

by Anonymousreply 69February 16, 2018 6:09 PM

[Bold] FUCK HER! SHE'S A CUNT! GREASE FIRE!

by Anonymousreply 70February 16, 2018 6:10 PM

Tim Robbins grew up in a lefty, anti-war, pro-civil rights, activist family in Greenwich Village. His father was a folk singer. What proof is there that he is a vile human being? She never says anything bad about him. He doesn't say anything bad about her. Never a hint of scandal. They lived in the West Village for years and went about their business in an unassuming manner. Her two sons with Tim keep a low profile. Nothing like their step-sister. Don't make up shit about them.

by Anonymousreply 71February 16, 2018 6:22 PM

A friend of mine played amateur hockey in NYC. He said Tim Robbins joined one of the teams, and was a petulant, cheating, play-dirty cunt who expected to always be allowed to win.

One other thing: I remember a story about Tim Robbins being a bad tipper, and Sarandon having to hang back to improve the tip.

by Anonymousreply 72February 16, 2018 7:08 PM

[quote] She hasn't been black listed, but she talks like she has. Romanticising the idea of being punished for your politics is another annoying far lefty and far right thing.

But she has paid a hefty price for her activism though. During the Obama years still she couldn't get security clearance to attend an event the White itself had invited her to (because of the Iraq shit). They invited her to speak, then they demoted her to just attending, then they flat out told her not to show up. She finally asked and they told her she couldn't be cleared. So she must be on some shit lists.

As for the Oscars she and Robbins were always banned unless nominated for something ever since their Guantanamo speech.

Kathy Griffin should take notes on how to deal with these things, on a side note. All Sarandon has ever said about getting blacklisted was 'ouch'. She is no whiner and past problems haven't stopped her from continuing to speak her mind. The only time I saw her lose it and break down was when recalling the Iraq years, talking about being verbally assaulted by some guy while she was holding her baby.

by Anonymousreply 73February 16, 2018 7:11 PM

Vintage gossip on Robbins: “Robbins, Tim. Boy-toy of Susan Sarandon who he reportedly abuses emotionally and physically. Pothead.”

by Anonymousreply 74February 16, 2018 7:14 PM

Yes, she's a great heroine, r73. And so brave, too. Yet she still finds the time and emotional energy to keep her tits up.

by Anonymousreply 75February 16, 2018 7:14 PM

[quote]My punishment is isolation from my tribe

Pretentious twat.

by Anonymousreply 76February 16, 2018 7:16 PM

[quote] People like Susan aren't responsible for Trump.

Excuse me, but she went out and used her platform to campaign for Jill Stein and Bernie Sanders on national television and wouldn't say if she would vote Trump over Hillary. Go fuck yourself. Yes, she is in partly responsible for Trump sitting in the oval office just as she was partly responsible for George Bush and the Iraq War by going on smear campaign against Al Gore -- in fact, she copied and pasted her rants against Gore and used them against Hillary Clinton. She is not a regular person. She has a public platform and she used it for propaganda purposes.

by Anonymousreply 79February 16, 2018 7:21 PM

The funniest was her crying over Dreamers. She was ripped to shreds on social media in response. Where was she back in November 2016. She helped get them deported, fucking bitch.

by Anonymousreply 80February 16, 2018 7:23 PM

She's yesterday's news desperately trying to hang on to some of the powerful movements of today like the MeToo movement. She's a nobody. A shame Ryan Murphy tried to give her relevance by putting her in Feud. She just needs to go away. No one is thinking about her on a daily basis but every so often she pops up to say that she has no regrets and that Hillary would have been worse than Trump and then I remember , oh that's the clueless, entitled bitch.

by Anonymousreply 81February 16, 2018 7:24 PM

She doesn't see the irony in anything she says. It's either stupidity or dementia.

by Anonymousreply 82February 16, 2018 7:26 PM

She stole my Oscar for that movie I broke out my eye-talian accent and kiss that old prune Eastwood. She hasn't been nominated since

by Anonymousreply 83February 16, 2018 7:32 PM

Sorry to ruffle your intellectual sensibilities, r79.

by Anonymousreply 84February 16, 2018 7:33 PM

R43 “SS was giddy when she said that Trump being elected president would bring on "the revolution". This isn't a movie. The damage he has done in just one year goes beyond my greatest fears. ”

This is EXACTLY why the white male left, Bernie and his disciples, are so totally dangerous. This is why Putin knew to exploit both his and Steins followers. Dimwits that cling to left wing purity. No idea how change actually is made in such a huge diverse Democracy.

by Anonymousreply 85February 16, 2018 7:57 PM

This shouldn't be a surprise to her considering how long she's been in the business. The pervasive group think in the industry is very obvious. Just look at the Golden Globes where it was unofficially mandated that every actress wear a black dress.

by Anonymousreply 86February 16, 2018 8:02 PM

[quote] she's a woman of enormous integrity

She is absolutely not. No one with enormous integrity would have behaved the way she did during the campaign.

by Anonymousreply 87February 16, 2018 8:09 PM

Has Susan released a statement on Mueller's indictment of Russians who meddled to hurt Hillary by duping idiots into voting for Trump, Bernie, and Jill Stein?

by Anonymousreply 88February 16, 2018 8:11 PM

Acuntemy Award for Best Asstress.

by Anonymousreply 89February 16, 2018 8:24 PM

I worked on an episode of The Big C and when Sarandon guest starred we referred to her as The Bg C. I’ll let you guess why.

by Anonymousreply 90February 16, 2018 8:38 PM

No, why don't you fill us in r90 ? What happened ?

by Anonymousreply 91February 16, 2018 11:51 PM

by Anonymousreply 92February 17, 2018 12:39 AM

Uhhh, sure, R92. (rolls eyes) Let me spell it out for you, hon.

Laura Linney was fabulous, the fat girl who played Precious was obnoxious, Oliver Platt and the guy with three names were pleasant and professional and Sarandon was a CUNT. Never stopped whining and complaining. We loathed her. Good enough for ya? I suspect it isn’t and I don’t give a shit.

by Anonymousreply 93February 17, 2018 12:46 AM

Somebody call a whaaaaambulance for that dessicated old trout....

by Anonymousreply 94February 17, 2018 12:48 AM

r92--take your meds, frau troll.

by Anonymousreply 95February 17, 2018 12:52 AM

Susan did go overboard with her hatred of Hillary, but I do agree with her on most issues. She really should come out and speak about the Russian indictments and how the fuckers interfered with our election.

by Anonymousreply 96February 17, 2018 1:00 AM

She deserves worse punishment than being shunned by her peers.

by Anonymousreply 97February 17, 2018 1:04 AM

r97, there is no worse punishment for an actor than to be shunned.

by Anonymousreply 98February 17, 2018 1:06 AM

R98 Obviously not bad enough if she's still so self-righteous.

by Anonymousreply 99February 17, 2018 1:08 AM

[quote]I knew people who where communists in the thirties and onward. One fought Franco.

OMG! Dave or James?

by Anonymousreply 100February 17, 2018 1:21 AM

R71, I'll happily tell you why I think Robbins is vile.

Decades ago, when I was 21, I worked as a bartender at a 5 star hotel in Santa Monica. I worked in the corner lobby bar. One wall of the bar also served (on its other side) as they guard rail for the "grand" entrance from the elevated foyer that led to the sunken lobby below. The wall was so tall that from our (meaning the bar staffs) vantage point, we could only see somebody walking down the stairs if they were very tall. We'd laugh because it looked like a floating head slowly descending into the lobby. And it always caught our eye because it happened so rarely. One had to be at least 6'4" to see the Floating Head.

So, one night, it's late, and I'm washing glasses and finishing up my shift. I see one of those Floating Heads. It catches me eye for a second, then I get back to washing. No biggie. Three seconds later, Robbins is in my face. I just held the glasses I was washing. He was like maybe six inches from me. I froze. Then he starts berating me:

"You fucking worthless asshole. How dare you stare at me. I will get you fucking fired if you ever speak to me or look at me of even think of me." It went on and on. It was like out of a movie. I just stood there, mouth agape. When he was done, he shuffled off. The waitress come over, she couldn't believe what she'd just heard. I was shaking. I was furious, but I knew I couldn't say anything.

Next day, a bunch of us are having our employee meals and I'm telling them about my run in. Turns out it was not just me. And it wasn't just Robbins having a bad or something. He kept parking his Volvo in the Fire Lane. He refused to move it. And ripped into the valet manager would he insisted Robbins move the car. It wasn't until our manager threatened to call the cops, because, you know, parking in the fire lane is highly dangerous and illegal. He went off on the concierge too. He was just a nightmare. He's an unhappy dick.

But I'm glad his father was a folk singer and he grew up in the West Village. I guess that counts for something.

by Anonymousreply 101February 17, 2018 1:27 AM

Hmmm.... ok I viewed Susans daughters instagram. She NEVER mentions Tim or her half brorhers.

by Anonymousreply 102February 17, 2018 1:37 AM

When Tim Robbins was still busy moralizing about the Iraq war I once watched him give a speech going on about how the repressive Bush regime had silenced him. The full speech was being televised to a national audience and he was too clueless in his self-righteousness to see the irony. I don't see how Susan put up with this fool as long as she did,

"Hillary Clinton would be as bad as Trump" - that's literally what Sarandon said a couple of months ago. Of course, there is not one Trump policy that Clinton would have embraced herself, but why be logical and informed when you can spew unprovable theories to cover up your own contemptuous arrogance and stupidity.

You have no idea how gullible/xenophobic it makes you look from the outside. It's like crazy new Mccarthyism, all to absolve Clinton/the democratic establishment from blame for 2016, and ensuring they don't have to move one iota to the left to appease their donors.

by Anonymousreply 130February 17, 2018 7:44 AM

R129, if you are who you say you are...

Not all Americans are as nutty about all this.

Hillary Clinton's loss has caused a certain portion of the US population to lose their minds. Many of them post on DL.

Whatever intrigue Putin and his minions put into play that may have played a part, the truth is that both our political parties failed the citizens of our country by nominating the two worst possible candidates. And the candidate that we were confidently informed was a sure winner ran one of the worst campaigns in history while choosing to insult the very voters whose support she sought (only one of her stellar campaign decisions). The barest research of reputable sources will allow any who choose, to find the causes of that loss. But anyone with sense already knows all this. All these facts have been discussed many times since 2016.

If a person has chosen to throw in their lot with those who absolutely refuse to believe the incompetence of that candidate and her team, then it must, absolutely must have been an evil plot. We've been listening to this tale for a year.

Not only do we have an incompetent in the White House, but the "opposition" might still be standing stunned on election night for all the good they have been.

If you are depressed on your side of the Atlantic, imagine how depressed the non-nutty people on this side feel.

During the Obama years still she couldn't get security clearance to attend an event the White itself had invited her to (because of the Iraq shit). They invited her to speak, then they demoted her to just attending, then they flat out told her not to show up. She finally asked and they told her she couldn't be cleared.

It is HILARIOUS that you think not getting invited to the White House is a "hefty price" for an activist to pay. Activists get jailed and lose their jobs for their activism all the time, dear. Not getting to hang out in the China Room at the White House is not something anyone should be putting forth as an example of a "hefty price."

R131, I feel sorry for you, I truly do. How do you end up hating a woman that doesn't know you exist - Hillary Clinton? How do you keep the hate going more than a year after the election? So she was not someone you wanted for POTUS. So you didn't vote for her. So you got your wish and now we have Trump for President. Why are you still angry? Sanders could not cut it in the primaries; do you blame his loss on him the way you blame Clinton's loss on her, or of you think Sanders lost to some conspiracy? I bet you believe that the DNC rigged the four million votes for Clinton, but don't believe that Russian propaganda influenced a single vote for Trump. You are not only blinded by your Clinton hate, you actually think it's not obvious to the people around you. Pathetic.

by Anonymousreply 160February 17, 2018 5:43 PM

We all make mistakes. We all have shortcomings.

Sarandon has a brilliant actress. One of my favorites. Much of her work on social justice has been extremely important. She denounced the U..S. Government's HIV+ prison camp on Guantanamo from the stage of the Academy Awards. For that, she has my undying respect. She has bravely taken a public stand on many issues and she has always been on the right side of the matter.

Unfortunately, her grasp of electoral politics is a disaster. Combine that with her willingness to take a stand and he fucked herself bigly.

And now we're all seeing who he really is, if people really didn't know before. And his popularity is the lowest of president ever, so there's that.

by Anonymousreply 163February 17, 2018 6:12 PM

[quote] It is HILARIOUS that you think not getting invited to the White House is a "hefty price" for an activist to pay.

That wasn't the point. The point was that it was that event that made her know she was still blacklisted.

by Anonymousreply 164February 17, 2018 6:29 PM

Blacklisted? She's been working steadily for the last two years, r164.

Look up "blacklisted."

by Anonymousreply 165February 17, 2018 6:31 PM

How about you try to keep up with a thread before typing stupid shit, r165. We were talking about security clearance.

by Anonymousreply 166February 17, 2018 6:38 PM

[quote]She has bravely taken a public stand on many issues and she has always been on the right side of the matter.

How so?

She's against corporate influence in government. Meanwhile, she shills for Big Pharma and has been collecting checks from them for years now with her Tylenol voiceovers.

She's against human rights violations, but what about animal rights abuse? She's been collecting paychecks from Loreal, which has been under fire for years now due to numerous animal rights abuse allegations. I guess torturing animals doesn't matter.

She was so against the Iraq War, but why did she endorse John Edwards in 2008 (who cast the very same vote Hillary Clinton did back in 2003)? Then she endorsed the Obama ticket even though Biden also cast THAT SAME vote?

And I'm still baffled as to why she threw her support behind Jill Stein, who's policies were as far removed from Sanders as they could be. Not to mention Stein's VP pick likened Sanders and his supporters to White Supremacists.

She's entitled to say Hillary would have been worse then Trump, but then why did she lie about ever having said such a thing during the pre election cycle? Only to then admit her truth once the damage had already been done? The very definition of a coward.

And now she's reduced to playing victim because the public isn't embracing all of this. Pathetic.

I don't get a "courage of her convictions" vibe from her. I get a "Do as I say and not as I do" vibe from her. We used to call these people "limousine liberals" because they care deeply as long as they're far away from the "public" and ensconced in their ivory towers. And after reading the numerous stories of her awful behavior to "The common folk" on this page for years now, I think that's a rather true assessment.

by Anonymousreply 171February 17, 2018 8:48 PM

by Anonymousreply 172February 17, 2018 8:49 PM

If she doesn't have any problems with the stands she takes, she also shouldn't have any problem not being invited to the White House when it's an administration she's at political odds with.

Sarandon's primary objection to Hilary was how comfortable and willing she was to use our military. I don't know how much more nuanced Sarandon's "there are no good wars" rhetoric gets from there but Sarandon was definitely convinced a Clinton presidency meant more US wars and she was probably right.

I was never convinced a warless Trump was a better option but Saradon sure was. Sarandon never really addressed the possibility of war under Twitler that I am aware of.

by Anonymousreply 212February 17, 2018 11:23 PM

She was instrumental in Libya as SOS and had been very vocal about her desire to enforce no fly zones in Syria, which was viewed by many as a de facto declaration of war on Russia and/or Iran.

There would be no childish war of words with Kim Jong either. If she were POTUS, she knew enough to make the decision on North Korea and who at the Pentagon would make it happen the way she wanted.

by Anonymousreply 213February 17, 2018 11:24 PM

R213 And now the Russians are de facto controlling Syria while Trump golfs. Putin had the gut to declare war on ISIS while the Americans (from Obama to Trump) hemmed and hawed.

by Anonymousreply 215February 17, 2018 11:33 PM

Hilary cultivated the perception as a "warmonger" for herself also to negate any gender skeptics who might want to raise the "a woman shouldn't be commander in chief" flag. Bernie was more than happy to push that narrative with his followers, like Sarandon.

by Anonymousreply 216February 17, 2018 11:46 PM

R215 That's how the Russian trolls including Sarandon create the false image of Hillary being a "warmonger" by pinning any world conflicts to her even if it's a collective decision like the Iraq War vote (which by the way was pushed by the Obama Left in 2008) and then Arab Spring with all its unintended fallout.

The celebrities who were for Hillary or for Bernie had nothing personal to lose. They won't lose a roof over their heads or food to eat or healthcare or anything no matter who is elected. I seldom listen to a word they have to say one way or the other. I can be hurt by someone like Trump or some Wall Street loving Democrat. The rich celebrities cannot.

[quote] Hilary cultivated the perception as a "warmonger" for herself also to negate any gender skeptics who might want to raise the "a woman shouldn't be commander in chief" flag.

And the mass murder and destruction was all so funny to her.

[quote]Why isn't mark ruffalo also being shunned? He campaigned against Hillary

He never campaigned against Hillary. He's stupid for endorsing idiots like Linda Sarsour but he doesn't go totally idiot a la Sarandon.

[quote]Why isn't mark ruffalo also being shunned? He campaigned against Hillary.

Because he's a guy. Women are held to a much higher standard than men.

by Anonymousreply 223February 18, 2018 7:00 AM

R223 Saradon is held to her own stupid remarks equating Trump with Hillary, and continuing denial that Trump's performance has not made her regret her statement. Ruffalo has always been against Trump without any such silly equivocation.

by Anonymousreply 224February 18, 2018 7:08 AM

Bernie or bust has its consequences. I for one don’t enjoy busts, but I’m not a rich, white, straight woman

by Anonymousreply 225February 18, 2018 7:08 AM

Ruffalo was for Sanders, but he never lambasted Clinton. Certainly not after she has the nomination for the General.

by Anonymousreply 226February 18, 2018 7:08 AM

R226 That's because he could see, like any sane thinking person, that Trump would be a disaster.

by Anonymousreply 227February 18, 2018 7:25 AM

But did he see that Hillary would be a disaster?

by Anonymousreply 228February 18, 2018 7:26 AM

It's absurd to equate Ruffalo with Sarandon's posturing, lecturing, proselytizing, hectoring. It isn't about being anti-Hillary. It's about being pro-Jill Stein and using your name recognition to to contribute to the situation we're in. I firmly believe that's what Sarandon has done. FUCK HER and her stupid apologists.

Hope Susie caught Dr. Jill Stein on TV.

Remember fellow gays and gays of color this bitch said she didn't fear a trump presidency. An extremely privileged rich saggy tittied white woman said she didn't fear a mother fucking trump reign. Fuck her with a barbwired baseball bat.

by Anonymousreply 231February 19, 2018 12:12 AM

you're weird

by Anonymousreply 232February 19, 2018 12:16 AM

R231 That's why she gets dragged on Twitter every time she tweets to "support" liberal issues like DACA. And rightly so.

by Anonymousreply 233February 19, 2018 12:22 AM

She has a right to her political opinion. It was the way she handled losing, the offensive things she said, the absolute refusal to see the truth that was staring her in the face. She was obstinate. I remember her sitting there at the convention - all righteous and pompous, even though Bernie had clearly lost. I don't know what the hell she was still standing her ground about. She has no grace. Zero.

by Anonymousreply 234February 19, 2018 12:23 AM

The tremulous Jill Stein, shaken and defensive that she's been mentioned in Mueller's investigation. Plus thrilled she's being interviewed in tv. Her inner vibrator is doing double duty.

by Anonymousreply 237February 19, 2018 12:30 AM

A perfect pairing.

by Anonymousreply 238February 19, 2018 12:32 AM

Jill Stein with saggy tits, instead of the no-tit Jill Stein look.

by Anonymousreply 239February 19, 2018 12:37 AM

R200, weak on facts. The argument that “hillary would create more wars” just shows how poorly informed the Sarandons/Ruffalos of the world are.

I have spent 20 years traveling the Middle East, Stans etc and the truth is as SOS Clinton PREVENTED the US from getting entangled In many wars. You forget Syria was the original “Arab Spring” the all of Europe & moderate ME nations believed that the rest of the Arab world would succeed in corralling Assad. they asked the US to stand down.

Clinton prevented a LOT more wars than the fools in here will ever know. Do you not recall that the GOP was wanting to nuke every country in the region to pacify Israel?? Clinton shut them ALL down.

Suddenly Morrocco, Tunisia, Bahrain, Libya, Egypt, Oman & Yemen were in turmoil. She immediately requested more money to harden facilities at Embassy’s The GOP SAID NO. She presented the info to Dept of Def - they sent nothing but aircraft. As SOS Clinton visited every single country - spoke with dissidents - she came back to report criteria: 1- do any of these countries have strong alternative leadership to replace current situation 2- Pysch profiles of leaders - will they massacre their own citizens?

Only one - Libya - worried her the most. He would execute his entire population. She involved Ambassador Smith - he reassured her that it would be ok - she ordered him home - he said nonsense.

The point is Clinton shut down the GOP incessant drive to nuke Iran - and straffe all of the ME and Arab Springs to satisfy Israel. The point is Sarandon and anyone that said we would “have more wars under Clinton” is fucking insane. There is virtually NOTHING in her background to support that claim.

Idiot Sarandon, idiot Ruffalo, idiot Stein and Idiot Sanders. Fuck you all for what you have done in this country.

by Anonymousreply 240February 19, 2018 7:28 PM

R240 here. Should read, “the DOD sent nothing but a couple aircraft to Libya”

by Anonymousreply 241February 19, 2018 7:31 PM

It's quite telling to me that a guy like Jimmy Carter, who really messed up the Middle East by handing Iran to the Russians, is a BernBro. Both Stein and Sanders are old hippies, they hate the US. Look no further than Germany's old chancellor Gerhard Schröder, after he lost the election to Merkel in 2005 he went straight to Russia to get himself a high paid job at Gazprom. Today Schröder sits on the board of Gazprom and Rosneft. One of the reasons the SPD, Schröder's old party, lost so many votes, is bc the party hasn't distanced itself from Schröder.

Russia knows how to bribe the West.

I have Saradon lined up to be CEO of Aeroflot, a favor in her struggle on behalf of the motherland

by Anonymousreply 243February 19, 2018 10:11 PM

she would absolutely do that R243

by Anonymousreply 244February 20, 2018 2:43 AM

R243 Hold that position for Trump. He will end up in the motherland at some point.

by Anonymousreply 245February 20, 2018 3:56 AM

This wacko needs to be shunned even if Hillary had won, so doubly more so with her Trump in the WH.

by Anonymousreply 246February 20, 2018 6:20 AM

I don’t know, r245. Sarandon has those new flotation devices....

by Anonymousreply 247February 20, 2018 6:08 PM

i think being an air head would be an advantage in the airline biz

by Anonymousreply 248February 20, 2018 6:47 PM
