There is no excuse for the carnage by Nikolas BUT the more details on him, the more I see his appointed Defense Attorney's remark that he is a "broken person" - although I think in that media doorstop scrum moment when she commented in this way, it seemed as though she was referring to the current character of his degree of cognisant remorse.

His father dies when he's a little kid, his mother died of the flu in November and he literally had no place to go, no where to live until a family took him in temporarily. he was mentally ill, was going to a mental health clinic, had exhibited behavioral problems. killed and tortured animals. You can tell he's seriously mentally disturbed just by looking at his face. It's very hard to get help with mental issues in this country. Add this person's tragic family history and he became a time bomb that exploded. There have been several cases in my area where seriously disturbed teens killed their parents. The parents could not get the help they needed and they're afraid the police will shoot the kid if they're called. Two teens have been shot and killed here by sheriffs called to assist. The families of these kids are trapped in a horrible place. This boy lost his parents. I'm sorry for him and for the victims of the shooting that he did not get the help he needed.

After Sandy Hook, there was a Republican senator who wanted wanted serious research into psychology and psychological profiling the idea of implementing laws that would prevent mass shootings. Two Democrats were on board at first, but they suddenly pulled out under pressure from other Democrats who wanted to continue blaming guns and the NRA.

I know it is wrong but I can't help but have sympathy for him, even despite the rumors of him being a white supremacist (being a biracial person myself).
