In Reneée Z’s Judy biopic.
[quote]Renee Zellweger is playing the legendary singer/actress.
Oh, Jesus, help us. THIS is one of the aftershocks of the AIDS epidemic. If all those gay men hadn't died, we wouldn't be seeing someone like Renee Zellweger attempting to play a person she can in no way embody.

[R1] I completely agree. She has absolutely ZERO in the way of Judy's innate qualities. She's setting herself up to fail and it's going to kill a career that's already on life support. And please God tell me she isn't singing in her own voice as the Deadline article suggests. Eee gads!

She’s playing trainwreck Judy in the last years of her life when her voice was gone. Shouldn’t be too hard to imitate.

It's going to be difficult to make this winter of 1968 Judy appear as anything but pathetic. She had pretty much completely lost it by then. As her good friend Dirk Bogarde was quoted, Judy, once famous for her sharp wit, insight and raw intellect, had become "dumb" from all of the drugs and booze. There are many YouTube videos of a slurring, brain-dead Judy stumbling around at her wedding to Mickey Deans, backstage (in her final appearances in Copenhagen, I think) and on the streets being loopy as hell.
