Christopher Plummer as Becky.

Never hire a druggy.

Why did they need two Beckys?

Why not?

Here's How the New Roseanne Will Deal With the Two Becky Actresses
In Season 6 of the show, Sarah Chalke replaced Lecy Goranson as Becky after Goranson decided to leave to attend college. Goranson came back from time to time, and the two Beckys became a running joke. The producers of the new reboot wanted Goranson to play Becky, but didn't want to forget about Chalke's contributions to the show, so they're casting her as a new character with a connection to the Conner family.

Don't matter to me. I'm not watching that Republican piece of shit.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 10, 2018 11:46 PM |
Anyone watch the ABC 20/20 special about the Roseanne reboot last night? It was hosted by Joy Behar. Interestingly, Variety and other publications have focused a lot on Sara Gilbert’s role as the re-creator and exec producer of Roseanne (and The View ripoff The Talk)...interestingly, ABC and Behar didn’t give her a ton of credit. 🤔
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 16, 2018 12:36 PM |
If you watch this show you’re part of the problem, not the solution.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 16, 2018 12:47 PM |
This Trump-loving show will cost Laurie Metcalf an Oscar.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 16, 2018 1:07 PM |
I seriously doubt that lesbian Darlene would produce a Trump propaganda show. All the press and last night’s 20/20 special make it sound like she took the reins from Roseanne. Why don’t we save our vitriol until the show actually airs? It might not be a Trump celebration just because the real Roseanne is.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 16, 2018 2:04 PM |
Karen Cellini for replacement!
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 16, 2018 2:24 PM |
If we're lucky, Rosie will drop dead at the end of the reboot. Real life shortly thereafter.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 16, 2018 2:54 PM |
I love you, R16💓
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 16, 2018 2:59 PM |
OP, that was a good fake story.
I bought it.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 16, 2018 3:01 PM |
Don't you think that the first season arc will be all about Roseanne's disillusionment with Trump?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 16, 2018 3:05 PM |
Lecy is a dumb name
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 16, 2018 3:06 PM |

Honey, screeners went out. We did a thread and reviewed the episodes already. It IS a pro-Trump show. Roseanne says in the show that she is pro-Trump because they were gonna lose their house. Jackie is a looney-tune wearing a pink pussy hat calling Roseanne a deplorable. It makes liberals look ridiculous and they're pushing the gender fluid crap on the little boy - something Dan can't accept. It's horrendous. Roseanne did a press tour, in front of Sara, pushing alt-Right crap. She said that Hillary stole from Haitians and a ton of other debunked bullshit. Sara should be horsewhipped. Roseanne wrote the show, she said she believes that half the country voted for Trump and ABC believes that they need to show this side of America now -- you know, the Deplorables.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 16, 2018 3:07 PM |
Uh, why the fuck would highly esteemed outspokenly progressive actors like Laurie Metcalfe and John Goodman participate in that nonsense youve described r22? Bullshit
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 16, 2018 3:15 PM |
Why would Laurie Metcalfe and John Goodman participate at all?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 16, 2018 3:18 PM |
$$$$$ R24
by Anonymous | reply 25 | February 16, 2018 3:22 PM |
I know we're all curious, but seriously, unless you are a Deplorable shame on anyone who watches. We can hear about it from others or at worst check out scenes on YT. Don't let ABC get away with this. It's only the beginning if this show and Roseanne succeed.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 16, 2018 6:23 PM |
Should be fun to see them poking fun at each other.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 17, 2018 1:00 AM |
Hey,here's a thought. Many people have different views and should be respected.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 17, 2018 2:16 AM |
Lecy Goranson didn't leave the show to go to college. She was having an affair with a married producer and it got ugly.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 17, 2018 2:33 AM |
R25, OK so if it's money, that's also the answer to R23's question.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 17, 2018 2:36 AM |
If the show is done well it should show opposing viewpoints. I would expect Rosanne - as a character- to be one of those people who believe the Trump BS and turn.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 17, 2018 2:43 AM |
Who wants to watch a network sitcom (a dying TV form in 2018, anyway) for political commentary? Even the average GOP voter will find that preaching to the choir tedious after a few weeks and the ratings will plummet.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 17, 2018 2:49 AM |
Question: Are the same people who are freaking out about pro-Trump Roseanne returning with a fictional character the same people who are gleefully enjoying watching Omarosa on Big Brother? The BB thread is a-buzzing and everyone there seems to hold no ill will against Omarosa, who served Trump for a year and who said “all critics will have to bow down to Donald Trump.”
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 17, 2018 4:09 PM |
R33 Are you serious?
Roseanne is a big star and will pull ratings in on her name alone. There's A LOT of love for the original show which is still a hit in reruns. NBC didn't even do an hour long Dateline on Will and Grace.
The show is also planning on getting back to its original roots and be more of a dramatic comedy. No more alternating Becky's, no overdoing the quirkiness. For that alone, it's worth checking out.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | February 17, 2018 4:17 PM |
Wait... the old Becky came back? How did I miss that?
Did she play Becky or another character?
by Anonymous | reply 36 | February 17, 2018 4:22 PM |
R36 Old Becky plays Becky. New Becky plays a woman who hires Old Becky to be her surrogate.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 17, 2018 4:24 PM |
Wow I remember the show being very gimicky by the end, but that takes the cake.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 17, 2018 4:25 PM |
I’ll watch. I’m sick of all the political Bullshit
by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 17, 2018 4:26 PM |
So, Roseanne is the female Archie Bunker now?
by Anonymous | reply 40 | February 17, 2018 4:28 PM |
R38 I saw the last few episodes of the last season of Roseanne a few months ago. I hated the ending when it aired. But rewatching it made me cry. I was young when the show went off the air. Now 25 or so years have passed and I went to school for writing and became a writer, and the last episode of the show made absolute sense to me as a writer. My mother just died and I would love to write an alternate version of the past year to cope with it as the Roseanne character did.
I am sad the show reboot may be all about politics because the original series was mostly about believably “real” people and their day to day lives, and while it addressed social issues, it mostly avoided commentary about politics and politicians.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | February 17, 2018 4:29 PM |
I'm wondering if Roseanne's support of Trump was just to get attention because on that special she said there is almost just too much to joke about with what's going on today. I assume plenty of it will be in the show.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | February 17, 2018 4:30 PM |
I know it's a sitcom so you suspend belief but why would anyone use a surrogate in her mid 40s? Becky would be too old for that unless they're readjusting ages.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | February 17, 2018 4:32 PM |
Will and Graces return “pilot episode” was 100 percent political. Then it just went back to the show’s regular old groove. I hope Roseanne does the same. I can’t imagine anyone, right or left, tuning into a weekly sitcom that is relentlessly about politics.
OK, aside from Veep
by Anonymous | reply 44 | February 17, 2018 4:33 PM |
I noticed recently when Roseanne laughed during an interview that she is at least $50k of fake teeth in her mouth. That is really going to ruin the illusion of her being a poor Illinois working grandmother for me.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | February 17, 2018 4:34 PM |
R45, have you watched the original at all?
by Anonymous | reply 46 | February 17, 2018 4:36 PM |
R46 Yes?
by Anonymous | reply 47 | February 17, 2018 4:37 PM |
R14, the Oscars will be long over by the time the reboot airs.
R21, it's short for Alecia. She used that name for the credits of "Boys Don't Cry."
by Anonymous | reply 48 | February 17, 2018 4:37 PM |
An average person, even if they are a deplorable, won't be there to watch the filmed version of Roseanne's deranged twitter feed. They want laughs. Sure, she can hire a decent team of writers but her ego will try to shoehorn HER point of view and her crazy ramblings into everything and what writer will want to work in those conditions? You realize you're talking about a show that'll be run by someone who's not playing with a full deck?? It'll be interesting revisiting this thread around the airing of, say, the sixth or the seventh episode.

[quote]Roseanne is a big star
WHAT?!??!! No she ain't!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 50 | February 17, 2018 5:01 PM |
Roseanne is not a good comedy writer on her own. The episodes she wrote on her own are blatantly not funny! Also the HBO special where she dressed in the gold lame outfit was not funny in the least, I think she wrote that as well.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | February 17, 2018 5:05 PM |
The show was at its best from Season 2-5. Sarah Chalke proved she was a good actor on other things but she was pretty much brought on for the purpose of being a stand-in so the whole family could be there and the marriage with Mark could cause tension. I don't know why thye thought getting rid of all the friends was a good idea.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | February 18, 2018 2:15 PM |
Next door neighbor storylines were the worst.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | February 18, 2018 2:15 PM |
The hysterics of people here about the reboot of a 90s sitcom are really out of proportion. Do you guys think Roseanne is going to subliminally convert progressive people into Trump supporters? What exactly is the threat you perceive? It’s a sitcom. It’ll be OK. The original Roseanne series clearly did not influence politics or society to demand changes that will support the working class, and neither will this one.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | February 18, 2018 2:20 PM |
She is a vile human being. Of course, she supports Trump. She’s an ignorant, abusive bully just like he is.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | February 18, 2018 2:28 PM |
[quote]Lecy Goranson didn't leave the show to go to college.
No one does that
by Anonymous | reply 56 | February 18, 2018 4:05 PM |
R53, I loved Kathy Bowman. She was a good foil for Roseanne. I wish she was on longer.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | February 18, 2018 4:30 PM |
[quote]This Trump-loving show will cost Laurie Metcalf an Oscar.
I think Allison Janney is already taking care of that.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | February 18, 2018 4:35 PM |
Well r45 and r47, she had the fake teeth in the original as well (maybe three seasons in), and then went on to have a nose job, full facelift, eye lifts, cheek implants and every other cosmetic procedure known to man a couple seasons later. It didn't change the show.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | February 22, 2018 6:14 AM |
They should just cast that creepy bodybuilder as Becky.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | February 22, 2018 6:49 AM |
R59 I guess it stands out more to me now because her bleach-white chompers are such a contrast to her face now that she is older and more weathered looking. She definitely looks more obviously modified to me now, more like a Real Housewife of Lanford than someone who works in a diner.
