It's still widely available. I used to wash my face with it when I was a kid. Made me beautiful and clean.
i used to slap some inside my asshole to get it all nice and tingly clean.

I used to jerk off with some: tingly cool.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 5, 2018 1:16 PM |
I still use it to wash my fash. I put it on, let it sit for a minute or two, then rinse and shave. I've found nothing better.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | February 5, 2018 1:24 PM |
good for sunburns. soothes and cleans the skin. aaahhh.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | February 5, 2018 1:24 PM |
LOL R1!
by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 5, 2018 1:27 PM |
I haven't thought about Noxzema for years. I might buy some at Target just for old time's sake and wash my mug with it.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | February 5, 2018 1:28 PM |
I still use original Noxzema. My skin must be pretty oily because Noxzema has never dried me out.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 5, 2018 1:40 PM |
I don't think you can get it in England anymore.
I once brought back from America a pump version. Lasted for years.
I'm not in love with the smell - but it is good for sunburn and stuff - dry skin, sore skin. Good stuff.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 5, 2018 1:49 PM |
Doesn't this dry the shit out of your skin?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | February 5, 2018 1:50 PM |
wonderful for a face mask in summer. Put it in the fridge!

[quote]No, it doesn't, it's a moisturizer.

sorry, quoted the wrong way round.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 5, 2018 1:56 PM |
I don't know R11. I remember using it for acne.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 5, 2018 1:59 PM |
I used to love the smell, texture and cooling sensation but then I realized that it leaves a powdery film/residue on the skin.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 5, 2018 2:03 PM |
It feels great on chapped and dry skin in the winter, or in the desert at any time.
Soothing and medicating.

Why does it say 45% less plastic on it? YOu're using plastic to wash your face?!?!?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 5, 2018 2:05 PM |
Noxzema makes a moisturizing version. It's not as good as the original though.

It's one of those iconic brands don't need to advertise very much.
It has been passed down from generation to generation.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 5, 2018 2:13 PM |
Burned the crap out of my face when I was a kid.
Back then, dermatologists blamed the patients for their acne. Stop eating sweets and fried food. "You eat French fries and chocolate! That's wha causes your skin to break out. And you don't wash your face enough. You need to wash your face at least 4 times a day!" Which as a little ridiculous for a middle school kid. We couldn't carry soap with us in school back then (no school backpacks) and couldn't use the school bathroom's industrial liquid soap.
Cystic acne ran in my family, and we were all excoriated by doctors for being dirty people who ate bad food.

by Anonymous | reply 25 | February 5, 2018 3:28 PM |
Noxema used to be the only thing I used when I was 17-20 but now it just doesn't do anything for me - I guess it's good for shaving but not really keen on using it as my one and only face wash anymore =/

Jared Leto and Rebecca "noxzema girl" gayheart
by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 5, 2018 4:50 PM |
I’ve been using noxzema my whole life (late 30’s). Love the cooling feeling, admittedly not sure what else it does but I leave it on overnight sometimes.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 5, 2018 4:55 PM |
it's to wash your goddamned face not to leave on as a fucking moisturizer mask!
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 5, 2018 5:17 PM |
Noxema is just as good, if not better, than those high priced face washes and creams. It gets the gunk out, tightens your pores, and just cleans and nourishes your face. I’m late 30s gay man who looks like a mid 30s gay man. I’ve only used Noxema. It is the best.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 5, 2018 5:24 PM |
My sister always had noxema in the bathroom for her acne. I tried it a few times just so I can reenact the Rebecca Gayheart commercials. She always looked so refreshed splashing all that water in her face.

Horrible for your skin, especially if you’re older. Use Cetaphil or the equivalent in the name of the store brand. The BEST facial wash ever, and number one recommended by dermatologists.
If you have psoriasis or adult acne, consult with a dermatologist.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | February 5, 2018 5:50 PM |
OP, I would still use the original, but not always easy to find. It was great as a pre-shave protectant.... Lately have used their "Ultimate Clear" bacteria fighting cleanser. They are back to their original formula w/phenol.... For years, after Noxell sold to Richardson-Vicks, threy took the phenol out.... P&G then bought Noxema, and was still making it phenol-free for years. Only generic versions available still contained phenol, until a couple yrs. ago when they put it back in. Phenol is used in some chemical peels, and think it accounts for the product's continued popularity. Works really well on oily, acne prone skin!
by Anonymous | reply 36 | February 5, 2018 6:43 PM |
Please use Noxzema brand product and not some store brand generic version.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 6, 2018 11:39 AM |
Until Unilever bought Noxema from P&G, the active (or most active) ingredient went missing! Old formulas like Listerine original, Vicks-Vapo-Rub, and Noxzema are all identical if one reads the ingredients.... For awhile, it was the actual name brand that was NOT the original formula. Can you understand that?
by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 6, 2018 11:59 AM |
Noxzema, daily, and Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque, once a week. That does it for me. I'm 61 and don't look a day over 27.
Noo Yawkers, that uber hot hottie shaving his beautiful face in that iconic commercial posted above is Remak Ramsay. Remak just turned 80 this week. Happy birthday, Hot Stuff!

R35 -Cetaphil. The only thing it has going for it is it's cheap. It's toxic sludge that does nothing for your skin.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | February 6, 2018 1:38 PM |
Looks like spunk too R42.... CeraVe is the new druggists' cheap choice, though a bit more than Cetaphil
by Anonymous | reply 43 | February 6, 2018 1:42 PM |
I believe the smell is from eucalyptus. It’s definitely worth keeping around. I found the last time that it’s dorsnt always wash off squeaky clean so I had to use a little face soap behind it and still mositurize.
I have a beard so I can only feel it on half of my face but I love to way you can feel it deep cleansing your face.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | February 6, 2018 6:27 PM |
I dig the tingle too R44.... Recipe has Clove oil, menthol, eucalyptus, peppermint oil, camphor, and phenol.... That's why they used to call it medicated skin cream.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | February 6, 2018 6:31 PM |
Burned the hell out of my skin
by Anonymous | reply 46 | February 6, 2018 6:59 PM |
Why does it say 45% less plastic on it?
by Anonymous | reply 47 | February 6, 2018 7:07 PM |
Clove oil, menthol, eucalyptus, peppermint, camphor and phenol are ALL skin irritants. It's what gives the cool, refreshing feeling when you wash your face but it's not good for the skin. I guess using it once in a while won't hurt. But what should be used to wash your face should be mild, not "medicated."
by Anonymous | reply 48 | February 6, 2018 7:09 PM |
The jar is prob lighter/thinner, or comprised of more recycled or biodegradable material. I still recall the glass jar from my youth!
by Anonymous | reply 49 | February 6, 2018 7:24 PM |
But R48, it doesn't bother us oily thick-skinned types.... Vicks & arthritis rubs don't bother my skin either.. Everyone is different.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | February 6, 2018 7:25 PM |
I used to use it because it cooled things off after I shaved 'down there', but I started to notice it was making my UTIs (which have been seemingly coming every month since August 1992--thanks a lot, Danon Yogurt (don't ask!)) even worse. My ex husband would occassionaly like to use it as a 'lubricant' when we trying sex in a 'different' way and then it just made me feel like I was pooping out breath mints, LOL!
by Anonymous | reply 51 | February 6, 2018 7:52 PM |
Love Noxzema, I use it most days. I'm going to try the fridge thing R10 good idea.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | February 6, 2018 8:16 PM |
Wish they didn't need to change their shave cream, now the bran name is licensed to someone else. There once was a pink noxzema shave cream in the jar too..... Very similar to the cleansing cream, but much better.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | February 6, 2018 8:45 PM |
I've always kept it on hand, mainly for sunburns, but it's actually pretty soothing for a windburn, too (which I'm more likely to acquire).
by Anonymous | reply 54 | February 6, 2018 11:09 PM |
Why did r47 just cut & paste r17?
I don't know why this is so difficult for you, Gilligan, but the 45% less plastic is in reference to the container, not the cream.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | February 7, 2018 1:17 AM |

Lame joking aside, it would be a very bad idea to use Noxema on one's vagina. All that stuff in it, menthol, eucalyptus, peppermint, etc., would be very irritating to that very tender area. It would probably burn like hell.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | February 8, 2018 3:25 PM |

Noxema is great for the oily days and to get all the make-up off your face. Using it daily would be very drying. I keep a jar of it because the smell of it reminds me of my mom

R76 - they also make a moisturizing version of Noxzema to counteract the drying effect.
