Robert Wagner: Person of Interest in the Death of Natalie Wood

Fuckig duh, everyone knew bu the police?

He wasn't very nice to Sal Mineo.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | February 2, 2018 3:33 AM |
I think he killed her or ignored her when she needed help.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | February 2, 2018 3:43 AM |
He was sucking Walkens cock. She got pissed And he did not kill her , but ignored her and let her drown.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 2, 2018 3:49 AM |
When RJ was supposedly fucking BS , was She screaming Robert T or Lucille?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | February 2, 2018 3:52 AM |
Is this case being revisited because of the MeToo# movement? Was he considered a Hollywood untouchable up till now?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 2, 2018 3:52 AM |
He might have lost it and slapped her out. If he was drunk that night with lowered inhibitions he wouldn't have gone to help her until it was too late.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 2, 2018 3:53 AM |
Will they eventually arrest Kirk Douglas, too?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | February 2, 2018 3:58 AM |
"I think he killed her or ignored her when she needed help."
Ignoring someone when they need help is perfectly legal; except in some cases if you offer help (thus the other person is relying on you) and then retract it.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 2, 2018 4:02 AM |
They'll dig him up and slap the cuffs on him.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 2, 2018 4:07 AM |
RJ was very persuasive as a killer when he pushed Joanne Woodward off the roof of an office building in "A Kiss Before Dying."
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 2, 2018 4:12 AM |
No, they'll bury him at sea...
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 2, 2018 4:12 AM |
I'm sorry but it took the police nearly 40 years to come to the conclusion that RJ had something to do with Natalie's death? So now they're going to put an old man on trial for something he may or may not have done decades ago? I guess it will be worth it just to see Crazy Chris Walken on the stand and the inevitable Ryan Murphy mini series a few years down the road.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 2, 2018 4:44 AM |
Maybe not 40 years to come to the conclusion. 40 years to do something about it.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 2, 2018 4:49 AM |
I don't know what is the motivation of the "Kirk Douglas is a murderer who needs to go down" troll. but he pops up regularly these days.
There are plenty of bad guys walking around free who can still do a lot of damage to the living. Why not concentrate on one or more of them?
Do you seriously believe that LE would arrest and try a 100 year old man for a crime which occurred over 50 years ago; Do you know how difficult it would be to prove any crime was committed even if they were positive that it had been? They can't even prepare a decent case against Cosby whose crimes were committed 30 years ago(some of them.)
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 2, 2018 5:01 AM |
Unless they had the evidence but ignored it because he was a big shot and now they are trying to make things right.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 2, 2018 5:04 AM |
Maybe Walken saw what happened and wants to be right with God before he goes.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 2, 2018 5:05 AM |
Kirk Douglas supposedly raped Natalie. It would be great if they went after that piece of shit as well.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 2, 2018 5:08 AM |
Are you completely nuts R19? The man is 95% dead now. He cannot even talk or walk. You really think that anyone is going to go after him?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 2, 2018 5:40 AM |
This all still hold interest? We'll never know what happened.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 2, 2018 5:43 AM |
Nothing is going to happen to him
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 2, 2018 6:44 AM |
R19 "Fuuuaauua...ccccccccccuuuucccckkkkk......eeeuuhyyyooouuuuuuu!!"
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 2, 2018 7:27 AM |
I'm sure that all three aboard ship that night were extremely drunk, their restaurant bar bill had them drinking enough for a whole navy. Nathalie falls overboard wearing a big down parka, which weighs a ton when soaked and quickly drowns. I'm sure that's 90% of the truth, so why 35 years after the tragedy is anyone interested in RJ? Haven't they suffered enough as a family?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 2, 2018 7:54 AM |
Down jacket floats on the contrary. She was covered in bruises. Don't you have a heart?
by Anonymous | reply 25 | February 2, 2018 8:27 AM |
Not to "blame the victim," but maybe she shouldn't have got so trashed at dinner...accidents happen when you're blind drunk.

After all this time we'll never know the truth unless RW confesses.

And the defense RESTS!
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 2, 2018 9:15 AM |
Read the coroner’s report. There is proof there that she died accidentally. Every few years someone writes a book to try to cash in on the fact that the report is not readily available to the public. It’s a shame she died the way she did. There is more likely a Rebel Without A Cause curse (the 3 lead characters all died in an untimely fashion) than there is evidence that Woods death was not an accident.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 2, 2018 9:23 AM |
Coroner Noguchi ? report obviously tampered with, so botched he was forced to resign the following year, and publicly admitted a few years ago that he deliberately concealed facts although ' couldn't remember why he did so'.who doesn't know that mafia controls hollywood ? I am not going to post any further in this thread. I just can't understand why some people wouldn't wagner to answer for the cover up. How is murder cool ? Why should he get away with it just because he is old? You queens are crazy and pathetic.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 2, 2018 9:43 AM |
R32 Do you have the proof that RW killed her? Yes or no?
The fact is that there's no definite proof he killed her or that it was an accident. So unless he confesses, legally he didn't kill her. Make peace with that and move on.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 2, 2018 9:48 AM |
She was a g-damn drunk who couldn't hold her liquor, and fell on her ass. Don't blame us.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 2, 2018 9:50 AM |
Do you know how difficult it would be to prove any crime was committed even if they were positive that it had been?
With the same jury that freed OJ, I'd say it's a given they'd convict him.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | February 2, 2018 10:06 AM |
Read the coroner’s report. There is proof there that she died accidentally.
You can also read literally hundreds of coroner's reports where they rule the death accidental or one thing, then they dig the body up and find out it was something else.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | February 2, 2018 10:07 AM |
There's also cases where they think it's a murder and then find it was an accident.
The real question is why do you care so much. It's like with Woody Allen, why do you make it a personal offense and crusade ?
by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 2, 2018 10:16 AM |
R37 The real question is why do you care so much.
Apparently because Natalie Wood was "sooooooooooooooooooooooooo pretty."
When average-looking people die, they don't care.
It should be called Sharon Tate Syndrome.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 2, 2018 10:22 AM |
R25 - from what I have read the down jacket is what caused Natalie to drown. It became heavy when soaked from the water and her compromised state from being drunk meant she didn't have the idea to take it off, which might have saved her.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 2, 2018 10:42 AM |
i dont believe it
i think she was murdered....
by Anonymous | reply 40 | February 2, 2018 10:50 AM |
I wonder if there was a relationship beyond friendship that Robert Wagner and Christopher Walkin had.
If three’s a crowd, which one was crowding?
by Anonymous | reply 41 | February 2, 2018 10:57 AM |
I'm amazed when I hear stories of someone walking in on something. You would think people would lock doors so as to not get caught, but maybe keeping it unlocked is part of the thrill?
by Anonymous | reply 42 | February 2, 2018 11:06 AM |
Down jacket kept her afloat on the contrary. Coroner Noguchi lied and was forced to resign
by Anonymous | reply 43 | February 2, 2018 11:06 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 57 | February 2, 2018 11:50 AM |
R57 Go study your biology, dumbass.
Duck feathers float cause there's grease on them which make them waterproof. There's no reason down jacket can't drown even with duck feathers.

How dumb are YOU? She was found, FLOATING, carried by the down jacket ? Can't you read?

CBS is featuring the case on 48 Hours tomorrow night (Sat.) and on a preview this morning they pointed out that the statute of limitations has run out on every possible charge now except deliberate murder. And at this point they would never be able to prove that beyond a reasonable doubt.
So, no, he will never be charged.

It's the American way, r65.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | February 2, 2018 3:16 PM |
He did not kill her, he did not ignore her. They were all shitfaced (alcohol) and had been drinking all day- sited on Catalina Island for lunch, heard shouting on the boat etc. Everyone was passed out and Natalie in an alcohol induced snit and she fell and she drowned and the others were too drunk or passed out to help her. What this really is, is a cautionary tale about the risks of alcohol abuse. Wagner knows if, Walken knows it- and Wood was the victim of it all. They have to live with it. By all accounts, sober, Wagner adored her as almost everyone who knew her did.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | February 2, 2018 3:21 PM |
Walken was in the dance chorus of Baker Street with Tommy Tune.
He's as straight as a drive along the Amalfi coast.

Walken may be gay, but if he is he is one hell of a discreet celeb.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | February 2, 2018 5:46 PM |
Mick Jagger was always half way out of closet but how many think of him as gay. Why did nat wood hang with gays? I guess Wagner was hot enough where u ignore he is gay. Shirley Jones also went for gay men. Odd

The very young, the very beautiful, the very talen...,well let's forget that one, Wagner was mentored by Clifton Webb.
And we all know what a generous charitable altruistic man that homely bitter snarky sarcastic arrogant aging queen was. He did everything out of the goodness of his undoubtedly kind heart. Because that's the way things work in Hollywood,
by Anonymous | reply 95 | February 3, 2018 9:34 AM |
R94, Walken voluntarily went in for a police interview but claimed he had been too drunk to remember anything that had happened. The police said he had been cooperative and have never said they considered him a suspect or a POI. I don't think he has ever spoken publicly about it (open to correction).

Three drunks on a boat, drinking into the dead of the night.
The big surprise is that only one of them went overboard and drowned.
Robert Wagner is only a 'Person of Interest' to the conspiracy mavens. The rest of us have MOVED ON.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | February 3, 2018 12:00 PM |
Can someone help me out here? Why is this case suddenly being re-investigated? Has some new evidence come to light?
by Anonymous | reply 103 | February 3, 2018 2:07 PM |
Lots in fact. the skipper wrote a book a few years ago, claiming he had been paid off by wagner. Since then it is slowly unravelling. Wagner admitted to fighting with Walken, breaking things, it has been established that the dinghy cannot be untied from the back. The authopsy was tampered with. The coroner resigned and admitted hiding details. Witnesses from the nearby boats came forward...want more?
by Anonymous | reply 104 | February 3, 2018 3:00 PM |
I don't get what the point of declaring him a "person of interest" would be. Does anyone really think they have enough evidence charge him with murder, even if he was guilty, after all of this time?
Why does everything have to be some big conspiracy? She was drunk, fell overboard and drowned. Why is that so hard for people to believe? I know it's not as exciting as the story of a movie star murdering his beautiful movie star wife and getting away with it but I haven't seen anything solid (and I do mean SOLID- not rumors and speculation) to indicate that it was anything other than a tragic accident.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | February 3, 2018 3:59 PM |
I read an expanded account from ... the coroner? Can't remember. But it made sense. The report said that contrary to her supposed fear of water, Wood frequently took the dinghy to the island on her own in order to call the children. The harbor or cove was very sheltered - it's hard to imagine anyone drowning in it or not getting help if they fell overboard, but there were extenuating circumstances that night. There was a party on shore (I think it was on sure) blasting sound over the cove/harbor, which was why the "Help me" didn't really register - it was written off as more drunken stuff from the party. There's also a wind tunnel effect at times, where, if you're not careful, you can be carried out of the cove into open water very quickly. I mean, it's very difficult to kill someone or drown in that cove without that effect. The speculation is she went to retie the dinghy, the wind started carrying it away and she reached for it (wearing a heavy parka) and fell in, clinging to it. Was quickly carried out of the cove and in big trouble. She tried to get on board, hence the bruises (you go to the motor part of the dinghy and hoist yourself up backwards). She didn't succeed, and just clung to the side. She was quickly out of the community of boats anchored in the cove and out in the open. If you think about where she was found, even if he wanted to kill her, how could Wagner have done it in the cove?

R106 once again I will explain it to you... The Captain repeatedly told law enforcement that he had tied the dingy and he had NOT tied the dingy outside her stateroom but at the back of the yacht. The BACK of the Yacht. It was Wagner that claimed it was tied outside her room. It was also Wagner that repeatedly changed his story - though this was apparently his favorite, when he could remember it.
The Captain had very informed reasons for tying the dingy to the rear rail - using 2 ropes, left end, right end in anticipation of weather that evening being an issue. Its a Captain, boat, weather thing - common sense. A Captain doesn’t want objects thumping the boat during even minor weather events.
Now it appears that with the announcement of reopening the case in 2012 witnesses have come forward. Their accounts jive with unplublished details given by the Captain. Further Wagner has again changed HIS story to indicate there was a violent fight - which the Medical examiner had determined in her autopsy.
So, new witnesses that collaborate the Captains account - which was dismissed. Wagner finally admitting to a violent altercation, as well as accounts that she had sea foam - not water in her lungs. All of which the ME has maintained from the beginning, Maybe Wagner wants to get something off his chest as his life passes by.

Was Nat Wood a "great" actress? She kind of struck me (I was a teenager) that she was the Julia Roberts of her time. Julia Roberts always acts like Julia Roberts in every single film (somebody expressed this way better than me on another thread).
Natalie Wood struck me as kind of like that - but I must have started seeing her in the 80s. So, maybe her star power was fading around then. Ditto with Wagner. Big movie star in the 50s but ended up as TV material in middle age.
by Anonymous | reply 133 | February 4, 2018 1:35 AM |
From my reading of the boat diagram upthread there was only 2 bedrooms, one of which Walken was in. Where was Wagner? Did he not share a room with Natalie? And if so, how could he not be aware of her leaving the room, unless he was totally passed out?
by Anonymous | reply 134 | February 4, 2018 1:45 AM |
R133 - I would say that Wood was not a great actress but her longevity in the industry gave her presence. For me Julie Roberts is a much better actress, technically. Wood was a bigger star than Wagner in that she had higher profile films and lasted longer as a movie star.

This is so sad the show is about to start where they talk about the murder I can't hardly believe that this is taking so long for them to get to but finally there will be Justice for Natalie Wood the greatest of all screen Stars.

People need to move on and get a life, this was over 36 years ago, It is very doubtful that Robert Wagner had anything to do with her death, but even if he did, he is never going to be charged with anything after all this time.

R135 Ghoulia Roberts is a much worse actress than Natalie was. Ghoulia was never as cute as Nat was in Miracle At 34th Street and Nat was never as annoying as Ghoulia was. Eric Roberts is a far better actor than that horsemouthed homewrecking shrew.

I've had several friends who've worked with Walken through the years. While he'sstayed with his wife for the long-haul, he Is known to have had affairs with men and women, and problems with drugs. I heard about this as far back as when they were shooting "King of New York". I remember when he was in "Batman", he did interviews where on talk shows about how his wilder image has been largely untrue, and talked about how he jogging and being healthy, etc. It was completely comical. I love him as an actor, though. Georgeanne Walken is nobody's fool and a very tough broad..

What did Ghoulia do? Pretty Woman, Sleeping With the Enemy and Hook(while she was on heroin). Sorry but I'll take those classic NW films over Ghoulia's rancidly awful selection of films any day week or month of the year.

That’s not Courtney r89, that’s Natasha and Wagner isn’t her biological father. Courtney looks like her dad but I think would look much better as a brunette.
Courtney is quite fragile emotionally and has had substance abuse problems off and on since she was a teenager. Lana wasn’t that close to Natalie, but was close to Olga who is their half sister and about a decade older then Natalie. The girls stayed connected with her and she has had to do quite the balancing act as she stayed connected to Lana as well. Wagner hates Lana as well as their mother Maria.
Poor Courtney said in an interview she did around 5 years ago, that she was watching Joan Rivers fashion police and Joan made some joke about being at a pool party at Natalie woods house. Courtney and Natasha’s nanny Willy Mae died not too long ago, she became their mother figure after Natalie died.

I think it was Lana Turner's last husband who wrote that she had confessed to killing Stompanato herself in her bed, and the Cheryl walking into him as he was leaving her room idea was fiction created to cover for her. However Cheryl became so rebellious it's hard to believe that she wouldn't have sold out her mother eventually.

Nat Wood could be absolutely heartbreaking, and she was the most beautiful plastic surgery free actress of the 50's/60's. She couldn't really play wildly different characters but she could be astonishing. Her portrait of the mentally troubled deanie loomis in SITG is one of the best of the genre. One of her many phobias was needles and surgery, so she looked like a beautiful woman in her forties looks like without cosmetic surgery. And considering how hard she partied all her life, she looked fantastic. See her contemporary E.T. The haggard whale in the 70's..

There was enormous speculation that Lana killed that Italian mug because he was physically abusing her and the daughter took the fall because she was underage, protecting her mother and then the sentence would be very light. This is entirely possible. What is not possible is that people on DL are not aware of it.
Esther Williams(I know, I know)also went on record saying this was the case. And compared to most celebrity children amazingly enough Cheryl had a pretty good relationship with her mother.
Also that Shatner story was so to speak fishy. If somebody is dead calling 911 is hardly risky.

I've never found Walken attractive but could someone post that homoerotic topless picture of him where he was barely legal with that come here rich sugar daddy look which even I finding surprising in his twink litheness.
R184 the daughter took the fall because she was underage, protecting her mother and then the sentence would be very light. This is entirely possible.
It's not really that possible, in the natural scope of things, because even a self-obsessed movie star mom isn't going to jump at the possibility of her teen daughter going to prison for her. There would be no guarantees as to how it would turn out. Nor would a teenager usually go along with such a plan....long term. Also...it's very hard to keep secrets that long when multiple parties are involved. And I don't think any of the testimony ever wavered.
The accidental homicide played out very believably. (I call it an "accidental homicide" because Crane didn't really plan specifically to kill Mr. Stompanato, she just wanted him to stop.)
by Anonymous | reply 186 | February 4, 2018 10:52 AM |
The 'kid' is the definition of 'bi'. A tramp. Likewise, who knew Walken had been attractive ? He was already worn by Annie Hall. As they say 'ridden hard and put away wet '. Wagner was a hot hot hunk. And a slut. Remember Paul Newman calling him 'baby' in the film with Bacall. And again in the race film. Who was the top ? They both scream slutty Bottom to me. Shouldn't have killed Nat though. Bad bad R.J.
by Anonymous | reply 187 | February 4, 2018 11:31 AM |
Cheryl was 14 she spent only a couple of months in a school for girls, I do not believe she spent any time in prison, and that was it. It was ruled justifiable homicide.
And even it was Crane why wouldn't a mother take the fall for the kid saying that she Lana did it because she wouldn't want her daughter to go through such a trauma and have such a blot on her life. After all it was Turner who got involved with such a lowlife probably because he was hung like Porfirio.
And though it doesn't sound like it I'm a big Turner fan.

Why would it be covered up?
by Anonymous | reply 196 | February 4, 2018 3:06 PM |
"The night this actress (long time A lister) and her hubby (probably permanent A- lister just because of his television and movie history and name) got together with this other actor (permanent A- list mostly movie actor) was the epitome of tragic. Too much booze, too much drugs, too much bottled-up hostility. She was drunk and angry. She mocked him and threatened to cuckold him, including about something she caught him doing years before which caused their split. That alone would've destroyed his career and life.
The fight was epic. The guest really did leave for bed, though he heard it all happen. As did the worker on board. The hubby was so drunk and angry, he really didn't remember it all. But according to his memories, and those of the long-silent guest, this is what happened:
Just the two of them, yelling and shoving. She retreated indoors, he went after her. When she got back outside, she demanded to be taken home - already had her coat on. She said she would call her lawyer and he can stay behind. Since the house and money were hers, she'd get the kids too. She had it with him, his cheating, and his drinking and pouting. He wasn't going to let her go at all. He actually reached to grab her when she pulled away, slipped and fell. He could've saved her right there.
That would've been easy and could've just been a spat. But he mocked her. She screamed, yelled, begged for help. He taunted her. The guest came to see what was happening and tried to help. The hubby told him she was just playing hysterics for attention - she could save herself he said. He escorted the guest back inside forcibly. She continued out there, cold, screaming - for several minutes. The worker had been yelling to her he'd help her. He banged on the hubby's door. He was told to go to bed and mind his damn business.
The three men argued. Then they realized - she wasn't screaming anymore. Hubby panicked, and they all went out to try and find her. She'd given up and was already gone. They said it happened so fast. Maybe in drunk time, but in reality? It was over 20 minutes. These three drunk men, very drunk and high. Nothing they did worked. The guest demanded to call for help or be taken home. The hubby threatened him, said he was part of it too. The hubby sat outside for hours, drinking heavily, crying. The scared, weak and stoned worker finally took him inside when he passed out.
When they awoke, they knew how deep of shit they were in. They tried to get their story straight. If one went down - they all would. The first call they placed was to wake up a legendary Hollywood attorney/fixer. He in turn called (permanent A+ list singer) who really was a friend to the actress. The hubby confessed all to him. It was the booze, the anger - he never thought she was in that much danger. He pleaded for mercy. That legendary singer/actor was angry, but he understood how it could happen. "
by Anonymous | reply 197 | February 4, 2018 3:21 PM |
'The cover-up began instantly. There were tons of leaks in their story. But anytime a discrepancy popped up? The powers that be were reminded they were elected officials and stop digging because it won't bring her back. You have no idea how powerful (the A+ list singer) and his legal and illegal pals were in those days. They even had the White House, not to mention City Hall. No local yokels were gonna make waves. Besides, the hubby was so destroyed.
And he really was. He tried suicide many times. He confessed to her daughters, which nearly destroyed one of them. But they too realized that all this time later would not bring her back. But people knew the truth. They spoke. On the record. Even with varying degrees of murder or manslaughter, it's the cover up that'll get you. So no matter the final outcome of the case, even all this time, he doesn't have long to live naturally.
But that cover up? A lot of them are still around. That one long-silent guest? Not so silent. He too is up in age and cleared his conscience. Thing is - he did it in 1985. Yep. It's been on record since then. Way past time for this to come out. It's tragic for those young ladies now, but...Truth. Will. Out. Always.'

Guilty, 100 percent.
I've just finished watching the 48 Hours episode. RW refused to identify her body. Forced CW and the captain to corroborate his story. RW's continual refusal to speak with investigators. RW's continually changing his story of the events over the years.
With NW's lifetime fear of dark sea water, particularly at night, she would never think of taking a small water craft alone, let alone in stormy weather and water conditions in the middle of the night. She would never try to untie a dinghy on her own; that was the captain's job, to adjust the lines, to relocate it. Managing these responsibilities are the purpose of his being hired as the boat's captain.
R197 wins.

Lana Wood was recently homeless. This RJ /Natalie's death thing all she has going for her, even though she and her sister were estranged, as Natalie's daughters would attest. She spent her entire life expecting Natalie Wood to finance her, while resenting that power. She complained in her book when Natalie cut her off. Natalie had invited her to her second wedding to Wagner. Lana's boyfriend took pictures and sold them. Natalie Wood was furious. Lana played innocent "We're family, why shouldn't we share excellent pictures - it's my family too!" She, of course, never told Natalie her intentions. She pulled shit like this their entire post-starlet lives.
The Captain is also dining out on this and becoming a semi-celebrity. The fact is that cove was not a dangerous place, but when the Santa Ana winds are blowing it can be deceptive. If they weren't blowing, and Natalie had fallen into the water, she might have been able to climb back in or even grab back onto the Splendour, but the winds carried her away from the Splendour and towards open water in a matter of seconds, and she didn't have the presence of mind to ditch her every parka.

Monroe and Wood can be seen in the same shot briefly in ' scuda hoo scuda hay'. Interesting trivia. In august 1962, Peter lawford hosted a party. There was a secret private vip party inside the house, in honour of Robert Kennedy. Very few were invited. Apart from Kennedy, guests included his mistress, Marilyn Monroe, Natalie Wood and her boyfriend Warren Beatty. That same night, Monroe was found unconscious in her house, and died in the ambulance that was taking her to the hospital.

These new detectives are a new generation. The power structure is gone and a new order is in. No one under 40 cares who or what Robert Wagner was or is. Wagner doesn't have any friends in high places anymore.

I recently watched MAKING THE BOYS, the documentary about Mart Crowley and the making of The Boys in the Band (play and movie). RJ was interviewed and spoke fondly of Crowley and his long friendship with Natalie. Crowley also talked about Natalie's death. If there's any tension between the two I assume RJ would not have been included in the documentary which is fascinating by the way.

Lana pissed off Natalie when she was alive. At the second Wood/Wagner wedding, Lana took pictures. She sold those pictures and Natalie was pissed off at her. She also sold off all of Natalie's clothes she inherited. That pissed RJ off as well. If RJ supported Lana financially I doubt she would be acting like this. She is doing the right thing by asking questions BUT it seems as if she is doing it more for herself than for Natalie in some strange way.

The marriage had was already shaky before Natalie made SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS. Natalie, also did NOT like Warren when they first met and were making the movie. Warren was engaged to Joan Collins at the time. As I recall, the movie was made in the late summer of 1960. Natalie (allegedly) caught R.J. fucking some guy around May 1961 & their separation was announced in June of 1961.

It was Lana's then husband Richard Smedley who'd taken the photos about the boat on the day of the wedding. Allegedly the mother (Maria) helped broker a deal to sell the pictures. Lana knew about it. R.J. & Natalie were furious. Natalie finally got over it and forgave Lana but R.J. would make jabs at Lana about whenever she'd come around their home over on Canon Drive.
As I recall Lana was left Natalie's wardrobe. R.J. asked to buy some of the furs for the girls to have once they matured. He paid Lana for those coats; I think it was four coats. I remember that one was a gorgeous sable full length coat. Another was the BlackLama coat that Natalie was given when she did one of those 'What Becomes A Legend Most' campaigns. Natalie in fact was buried in a mink coat. Natasha had picked out the sable one & R.J. talked her into another one which was less valuable but still quite glamorous.
Natalie had so much clothing that Lana had to rent portable clothing caddies to hold it all at her home. She then went through all of it, keeping what she wanted and yes selling off the rest of it. It was hers to do with what she wanted. She couldn't store all of it and styles change etc, what do you expect she should have done ?
by Anonymous | reply 242 | February 5, 2018 2:05 AM |
"Because she's their dead mother's SISTER. It's a family thing."
So they should be nicey-nice to their mother's awful sibling just because they're related? It's a very healthy thing to avoid toxic people, even if they are a family member. I think Natalie's children are perfectly within their rights not to want anything to do with freeloading Lana, who was always trying getting "loans" from Natalie. If they let her she'd probably be sponging off her nieces, too.

On that 48 HOURS show the other night they didn't mention the possibility of an R.J. & Walken romp but I know that' what Davern told Lana. Both R.J. and Natalie had affairs while married that second time. Very discreet short term ones. The night Natalie went missing, Wagner (allegedly) was fed up with feeling excluded from the Natalie/Christopher flirtation which was why he went after Walken to seduce him.

Re the Vanity Fair article from several years back- did anyone else notice the reference to Frank Sinatra as a “Hollywood Fixer?”
Wagner dated Tina Sinatra - imagine Frank thought him a “mans man - taller than Sinatra and masculine handsome” everything Frank wasnt. So Wagner and Wood were a welcome part of the Rat Pack.
Reading that FS led community outrage against the ME that described William Holden as “fall down drunk” and eventually had him fired. I can certainly see R.J. going to Frank and saying “it was an accident! She gets drunk, i smacked her - it was nothing Frank! I didn’t mean to kill her.”
What was suspicious was the way the lead Detective didn’t push Wagner for an interview under controlled circumstances, and a detective only gets one pass so they have to make it a good one. Then the ME sort of overlooked all his remarks it looked like a violent fight had aoccured.
I think Sinatra had more pull in Hollywood than anyone knew, Mob connections, mob in Hollywood connections, flaunting WH connections in his youth. Then tight with Reagans - he had power at his beck and call. That the detective totally whiffed any interview pretty much says it all. Sinatra called it off.

Robert Wagner's first agent was the notorious cock-hound Henry Willson, whose other clients included Rock Hudson, Tab Hunter, Guy Madison, John Saxon, Troy Donahue and a dozen or more other pretty boys. Many of these guys were at least bisexual, most were gay and closeted. Wagner was no idiot, he knew that Willson could help him like he helped Hudson and Hunter -- so I just don't buy his claim that nothing ever happened between the two. That, added to the stories about Wood divorcing him in the early sixties when she found him with a man in their bed (as noted above), suggests at least the possibility that he may have been involved with a pre-wackjob Chrissy Walken.

RJ was pissed about Lana taking some of Natalie’s clothes to consignment shops, but as pointed out earlier what was she supposed to do. Lana took them to the same places Natalie did.
Something shitty Lana did do was run up a number of Natalie’s in store charge accounts on clothes in Beverly Hills without her knowledge or permission and didn’t pay the bill. Natalie found out when she was told that she couldn’t purchase something because she was in default at the store. Natalie was furious but offered to pay for Lana’s therapy.

This article totally nails all the BS Wagner has spun over the years to hide his guilt in her death.
I think Wagner is deeply concerned her daughters will learn the brutal truth about his 3 decades of lies about their mother. In another interview his attorney even mentions this “Mr. Wagner and his daughters have no interest...” in other words he STILL is using his own kids to obscure that the truth about HIM is the issue.
While it is possible that the issue of Domestic Violence was not as recognized then as now, his behavior was stunning on its face of Calculated indifference. He had someone cover up for him - the cheesy cops that made a half hearted effort the ME that failed to do his job. Sinatra was THE Fixer in the entertainment world. There was too much hands off from people that would have been huge fans of Wood - it makes no sense.

R320 you think wrong. All the Wagner kids buy Wagner's tale(true or false). Unlike OJ's daughter who knows that Orange Juice killed Nicole The Wagner Girls are clueless.

Her best days were long gone. She was filthy rich from her husband's TV production company, but I'm kind of glad I didn't see her descend into the type of desperate projects other aging actresses accept.

She was in the same age range as the actresses that hit it big in the late 60s through the 70s (Fonda, burstyn, Redgrave, Jackson, etc...) but took some major time off to raise a family as well healing herself emotionally (she had at least one suicide attempt in the 60s) . Also she was considered a part of old Hollywood and was lumped in with actors that were 15-25 years older than she was.
One rumor that went around was that she did consider an offer from playboy, but they balked when she wanted Edith head to do the costumes for the shoot.
by Anonymous | reply 327 | February 7, 2018 6:46 AM |
I'm not trashing Wood, because she was by all accounts a perfectly nice person, but her superficial, "studio system" acting was not in tune with what performers were doing in the 1970s. It's doubtful there were fantastic, big film roles waiting in her future. The best she could hope for was a longrunning television series, perhaps a nightime soap when those came into fashion. Or she could have done more miniseries, like FROM HERE TO ETERNITY. For while her name wasn't super marketable in movies at the end, at least she still had name recognition for TV.

Kim Basinger costarred, in one of her early acting roles:
by Anonymous | reply 329 | February 7, 2018 7:33 AM |
Kim Basinger was a real stunner back in the day, r329. It's a shame she got messed up with Alec Baldwin, their daughter can't hold a candle to her mother in the looks department.
by Anonymous | reply 330 | February 7, 2018 8:02 AM |
I've grown up around boats, and was kind of shocked at the size of the "yacht". How could CW sleep during a horrible fight? Those rooms were barely walk-in closet size. You could fart and hear it all over that tiny thing.
BTW, Lana comes across as an ugly, bitter cunt. And her tits looked like udders.
by Anonymous | reply 331 | February 7, 2018 8:07 AM |
Yep, if Lana ever had children I hope she didn't breastfeed, it would be like milking a dairy cow.

Honestly, she is one of the most perfectly beautiful women I have ever seen...there's something so womanly about her. And she can even sing.
I think she kind of screwed up her career at its peak because she's supposedly somewhat neurotic -- she had agoraphobia or something. I even read she would faint when she was called on to speak in class. The one thing I didn't respect her for was when she pulled out of [italic]Boxing Helena[/italic] and threw that production into famous chaos...but as she pointed out at trial, she didn't have a signed contract. So I guess her obligation was debatable. (I believe the court judged her to be at fault anyway.) I'm glad she eventually won an Oscar.

Is there a term for the facial expression Wagner always used in posed photographs? (The one with the frowny eyebrows) It's like he was so enamored with his rich and 'suave' Jonathan Hart character that he decided to never stop pulling that face and wearing silk cravats.
by Anonymous | reply 334 | February 7, 2018 9:36 AM |
R334 It's kind of his "I am a Suave Gigolo" expression. He, George Hamilton and Peter Lawford should have played brothers in something. They're all a little bit icky.
by Anonymous | reply 335 | February 7, 2018 9:44 AM |
But when young they were all fabulous looking.
The ick factor starts in middle age.
by Anonymous | reply 336 | February 7, 2018 9:50 AM |
R336 By "icky," I mean there was always something oily about their persona, even when they were young. Something I know [italic]I[/italic] would never trust.
I mean, I'd probably have sex with them, but I'd also have been thinking, "Who the hell is this grifter, really?"
by Anonymous | reply 337 | February 7, 2018 9:56 AM |
R332 Lana Wood had incredible breasts...get over it. That's what a woman's body looks like.
by Anonymous | reply 338 | February 7, 2018 11:49 AM |
Maybe to you, but her tits are too big and her aureolas are the size of bread plates. Nasty.
by Anonymous | reply 339 | February 7, 2018 2:35 PM |
R339 She had nice tits deary. 99 percent of gay men(even 11s on the Kinsey scale) would have loved to have squeezed them! I guess you are in the boring, fuddy duddy caftan wearing old biddy set......

No matter what, nothing is going to happen to him now. Is this just showboating on the behalf of the authorities involved? He's nearly ninety years of age, they're definitely not going to charge him with anything regarding Natalie's death so what's the point.
by Anonymous | reply 347 | February 8, 2018 3:14 PM |
Exactly, this is going nowhere and a new generation of detectives are blowing money on trips to HI? Unless they could charge someone with first degree murder, statue of limitations has run out on everything else.
by Anonymous | reply 348 | February 8, 2018 3:41 PM |
Wagner and Walken were gay. any police investigation would identify them as gay because that is a major fact in such a murder case. Any court case would publicly reveal that they are gay . Unibomber was gay, though.thatbwas hidden

Funny, I was thinking about this just last night ... they'll never close the case, and even after Wagner is dead, they will drudge up this poor woman's corpse for a special 48 Hours episode when nothing else is going on in the world, just like they've done since she died.
by Anonymous | reply 372 | June 30, 2018 11:03 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 373 | June 30, 2018 11:34 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 375 | June 30, 2018 11:40 PM |
R375 they should throw him in same dark waters that Natalie died in and he can drown.

R377 hmmmm
by Anonymous | reply 378 | July 4, 2018 5:51 AM |
I can't see Wagner (deliberately) murdering her BUT I've heard from some who knew him that he was big drinker; to the point of not remembering everything from the night before. Is it possible that he was so raging drunk that in his anger he did do something and then honest to god does not recall it ?
Most of those who knew the couple do not believe him guilty. I will tell you though that if you go over to Avalon you'll see lots of memorabilia about the case and that the general consensus is that he's guilty as sin.
