Brett Butler's fall has got to be one of the most spectacular in TV history. From a huge star on a top-rated show that ended 20 years ago to an almost completely forgotten nobody today. Fame is both fleeting and cruel.

I think she mooned her kid co-star.

Several years ago, Madison Square Garden was trying to make extra money, so they thought they'd open a "comedy club." They laid out a bunch of tables in the foyer of The Felt Forum and I saw Miss Brett do her comedy act there. So, yes, Brett will play hallways to earn a bottle of gin.

Only old gays know what this is. That isn’t a big enough audience to justify a revival.

I liked her, wasn't a regular viewer, however have caught some re-runs. I never had the impression, Brett's character, or the show in general was "white trash".... just a southern setting, with a struggling single mother (divorced) . She was too responsible a mother, and too tasteful to come off as trash IMHO.

This is DL, R7, where everybody who isn't from NYC or LA is considered trash.

They weren't white trash. Roseanne was redneck. I'd say Married with Children is probably the only true White trash family from that era.

R8, you live in a teeny-Tiny universe if you feel out of the entire world, LA & NY Is the ultimate, or even penultimate.

I love Bret Butler. Too bad she crashed and burned. It would be great if she could stay sober and do a re-do of this show.

LA is tacky for the most part, and the U, as a whole is in decline. There's a pun here too, but I'll stop while I'm ahead.

Too many problems with Brett back in the day and Grace Under Fire is almost forgotten. Don't try to beat life into a dead horse.

R8, I think there's no shame in being poor or struggling. I reject your ideas, even some of the poorest of the poor are not trash. You seem to be using a very uber-queeny definition, that's not mutually intelligible. Working class people are not all trash either. Brett's character seemed educated, and not really even blue-collar, despite her factory job.

OP hope you come back to cime in a bit more..... If these people really are to be considered a quintessential example of America's "White-Trash"..... Perhaps a re-make could very well make a go of it, considering all these deplorables that elected Trump are supposed to be of this ilk...? Maybe the time is right for it. I haven't lived in this country my entire life, so a bit murky on the whole "White-Trash" subculture. More familiar w/cockney, and council flats dwellers..... North Yorkshire men too.....

I'd rather see My Name is Earl brought back. Brett was on that show a few times and was entertaining . They could stick her into the cast full time.

At least Brett probably isn’t a crazy deplorable like Roseanne.

I loved Brett's stand up but her show was not funny.

R17 did NOT vote for Hillsy, nor is he a fan. There seems to be a focus on hidden blue-coolar/wking class stiffs since the election, and that they're so numerous and powerful, all I was saying really. Apparently, social commentary is above most peopke's pay grade here.

Think the teal Queenie types here are the fools that took R17/R31 for defending the show, as he stated he did not get that it was "W.T.".
