that kid and her outfit is unattractive

buy more useless tech

by Anonymousreply 1January 24, 2018 11:14 PM

So fucking stupid. Probably millennials came up with this who were commanded to grab generation z dollars. It just looks utterly stupid from start to finish - from her wardrobe & hair to the "vintage chic" location they filmed everything in.

by Anonymousreply 4January 24, 2018 11:28 PM

r2

I think xir is non-binary.

by Anonymousreply 5January 24, 2018 11:30 PM

As a semi-elder gay, I supported Apple through the good and the bad - and there was A LOT of bad. I'm torn on either Jobs was a genius or it was sheer luck (probably a bit of both), but there were TONS of people who supported the Apple brand through the rough years.

For them to toss it for iPads ... just ugh.

by Anonymousreply 6January 24, 2018 11:35 PM

I wanted to say it, but thought I would get screamed at ...but that is part of the hideousness. She is dressed in "genderqueer" "non-binary" "trans" style.

More brainwashing.

And ugh Apple with their outsourcing and slave-labor working conditions

by Anonymousreply 7January 24, 2018 11:36 PM

That child is an actor on Pamela Adlon’s “Better Things”, and plays a non-binary (I’m not exactly sure) tween. All the main female characters on the show have “male” names.

I happen to love the show, obviously.

I guess the point is that kids don’t call them computers anymore? Mine do, though.

by Anonymousreply 8January 24, 2018 11:38 PM

I thought the same thing when I saw this ad. The kid is insufferable. Reminds me of that SNL character “Pat”.

by Anonymousreply 9January 24, 2018 11:40 PM
“Better Things”, and plays a non-binary (I’m not exactly sure) tween

Does trans have to be pushed on every show now?

Talk about total brainwashing

by Anonymousreply 10January 24, 2018 11:40 PM
I guess the point is that kids don’t call them computers anymore? Mine do, though.

The point is the computer is OLD and you have to hurry up and buy the NEW thing or YOU are OLD, too, and doing the WRONG, OLD, STUPID thing!

by Anonymousreply 11January 24, 2018 11:42 PM

The kid is such a monster. I hated this commercial instantly, and was surprised I found a lot of people who agreed with me for once! Plus her style is such a rip off of "Stranger Things." Total Barb-wannabe and so calculated seeming on the part of whoever designed this ad.

This infuriating campaign, plus the new THOUSAND DOLLAR iPhone, plus not liking what Apple is doing with their laptops very much... are making me think of going back to Android/PC.

by Anonymousreply 12January 24, 2018 11:43 PM

From a purely logical standpoint, it's stupid as well. We still talk about "taping" something - even though we haven't used tape in quite a while now, since everything is digital.

The locations are so weird. She's in a flea market (?) and then a coffee shop...then a tree... like ... wtf... Yes, we get the fact that tablets are portable. But now I'm concerned the girl has some kind of ADHD that she can't stay in one location for more than 10 minutes.

by Anonymousreply 14January 24, 2018 11:52 PM

Poor triggered, gender normative, elder fraus.

by Anonymousreply 15January 24, 2018 11:53 PM

There is nothing more "gender normative" than trans ideology. It's ugly, too!

by Anonymousreply 16January 24, 2018 11:55 PM

You can't comment on any apple video... it's not just this one. But, the votes are pretty clear.

by Anonymousreply 17January 24, 2018 11:56 PM

She doesn't strike me as tranny, just a fat, unattractive girl who isn't pretty, and knows it, so she doesn't try.

by Anonymousreply 18January 24, 2018 11:56 PM

"I don't like it so I have to slap a name on it" bigots.

by Anonymousreply 19January 24, 2018 11:59 PM

There is a way you can dress that is not dressing up, and there is a tomboy style that isn't what they are showing.

That is the "genderqueer" "non-binary" style.

by Anonymousreply 20January 25, 2018 12:00 AM

Where the fuck is this girl fat? Or do you want girls/women to blow away in the wind?

by Anonymousreply 21January 25, 2018 12:03 AM

the fake "problem glasses" are a dead giveaway, this is a special snowflake 'nonbinary' raised by a Hillaryite frau.

by Anonymousreply 22January 25, 2018 12:06 AM

Omg, R13-I know, the “curated” locations are obnoxious. They all SCREAM, “Look at me! Eclectic, artsy girl”

Is she sitting in someone’s sidewalk garage sale? Why? And the tree branch?! So dangerous and ridiculous.

And don’t even get me started on the way she slams down the iPad when she’s leaving the taco shop.

by Anonymousreply 23January 25, 2018 12:06 AM

I want her to get a sense of aesthetics and I want her to throw the "ipad pro" in the garbage

by Anonymousreply 24January 25, 2018 12:07 AM

Someone should do a parody video with a creepy guy in a van following her around.

by Anonymousreply 25January 25, 2018 12:10 AM

The commercial turned me off because it's such a blatant attempt to make you buy something in order to stay relevant, and that message was delivered by the smack-worthy, "what's a computer?"

You people are the true snowflakes. It's just a commercial.

by Anonymousreply 31January 25, 2018 12:27 AM

I am so glad to have seen this thread. I HATE this commercial and it's so good to feel validated. When she goes into the deli and then smugly collapses that iPad down in a way that doesn't really make sense to me because it's not protected. The keyboard and the screen are left exposed so she's just trying to be cute. Then, the "what's a computer?" part really makes me flip my shit! Reminds me of something the annoying millennials in my office might have thought pitched.

by Anonymousreply 32January 25, 2018 12:36 AM

The iMac just had a new software upgrade today.

I love my iMac and will never move to just an iPad.

Am I the only one who loves a giant computer screen to look at?

by Anonymousreply 33January 25, 2018 12:40 AM

So much hate for a TV commercial. Maybe people should watch less TV. What are you watching that you sit through commercials?

by Anonymousreply 34January 25, 2018 12:42 AM

I used to travel with an iPad mini with a full keyboard when I made shorter trips so I wouldn't have to lug my macbook and I hated having to do laptop work on the iPad. It's really not made for that, no matter how they try and spin it.

I'm upgrading my hard drive in my 2013 macbook air because it's the 11 inch screen which they no longer make and I'll hang on to that fucker until it disintegrates.

by Anonymousreply 35January 25, 2018 12:43 AM
Am I the only one who loves a giant computer screen to look at?

Me too. I have a 24 inch monitor on my desk I feel like its still not big enough

by Anonymousreply 36January 25, 2018 12:51 AM

I upgraded to an iPad Pro thinking that I would kick my dependance on my Macbook but it just does not work for me. Sure, I can get away with it when I'm on vacation but when I'm home, I've got two large monitors, and a mouse and this is my preferred way to operate. My expensive iPad pro is used for Simpsons Tapped Out. A bit of a waste of money.

by Anonymousreply 37January 25, 2018 12:52 AM

The real scary thing is that my aunt that lived in Alabama had those exact dressers with the yellow drawers in her single wide trailer in 1973 . My siblings and cousins where all texting each other when that commercial first ran lol " Look it Aunt's Louise's bedroom suite " lol

by Anonymousreply 38January 25, 2018 12:57 AM

Same R35! They will have to pry mine out of my cold dead arms before I give it up!

by Anonymousreply 39January 25, 2018 12:58 AM

The Millennials would be surprised that you were alive in 1973 and yet you still know how to text, R38.

by Anonymousreply 40January 25, 2018 12:59 AM

R36 Anything less than 32” feels small. In fact the autists are using 40” TV’s now.

by Anonymousreply 41January 25, 2018 1:03 AM

There is a $1000 phone now? Why? I guess people will get killed for them, too.

by Anonymousreply 42January 25, 2018 1:05 AM

The iPad is far superior to a phone for reading DL on the couch etc, but fails at anything even remotely more taxing. Sick of my laptop overheating so I recently moved to a mini-itx desktop. Chic and functional.

by Anonymousreply 43January 25, 2018 1:06 AM

Let's re-imagine the commercial. How about when Xe rides Xis bike under the bridge, a troll more hideous than Xim (if one can even imagine such a horror) jumps out, grabs Xim, and snaps Xis neck.

R37 here. My nephews (who are the same age as this girl) are actually wanting huge gaming computers and barely using their iPads anymore so this commercial feels like a bit of wishful thinking on Apple's part because they want to focus their efforts on mobile devices.
So much hate for a TV commercial. Maybe people should watch less TV. What are you watching that you sit through commercials?

I never saw this commercial untill this thread & still am able to comment on it.

by Anonymousreply 47January 25, 2018 1:51 AM

I don't get the fuss over "what's a computer?" I actually like this commercial.

And what's wrong with being genderfluid? I think she looks fashionable in this day and age; her glass are undeniably chic.

by Anonymousreply 48January 25, 2018 2:12 AM

She’s an amazing actress and is terrific on Better Things. Her sexuality is not really discussed and she does whatever she wants on the show. Sometimes she’s more feminine, sometimes more masculine. It’s great how they deal with it, and I’m neutral as far as the trans thing is concerned.

by Anonymousreply 49January 25, 2018 2:23 AM

I hate pretentious baby hipsters who hang out on top of a tree, in coffee shops and vintage furniture stores. Fuck that, and I dont even know if they actually exist but I hate them already.

by Anonymousreply 50January 25, 2018 2:26 AM

by Anonymousreply 61January 25, 2018 2:55 AM

R49 Agreed. She's amazing on BT, all the kids are.

But it sort of bothered me that at the end of season 1 they set her character up to be trans and then never brought it up again. Unless I missed an ep?

by Anonymousreply 62January 25, 2018 3:01 AM

I was going to watch that show, but if it is full of "transkid" propaganda, I am not interested.

by Anonymousreply 69January 25, 2018 4:57 AM

I love the girl in the ad, and the trendy locations. Very fresh and [italic]au courant.[/italic]

What concerns me is she looks to be virtually glued to her computer screen the whole day.

She needs to come up for air.

Hannah Alligood is an actress known for her role as Frankie in the FX television series Better Things.[1] Hannah was born June 28, 2003, in Birmingham, Alabama, to parents Kelly and (unknown).

Or are they all precocious, 'Little Adults'?

by Anonymousreply 76January 25, 2018 7:21 AM

I read all of the comments here and then looked at the commercial expecting to hate every minute of it.

It's almost a parody of the predictable twee aesthetic that's been popular for the last 10 years or so, but it's also nicely done.

The girl is what would have been once called a "tomboy"... I don't see why some of you are so negative about her.
R77 The girl is what would have been once called a "tomboy"... I don't see why some of you are so negative about her.

by Anonymousreply 78January 25, 2018 7:56 AM

What r77 said.

I don't watch much TV, but I've seen this commercial and found it vaguely annoying the way I vaguely dislike most of the pedestrian, uninispired "lifestyle"-driven ads that run these days.

I don't understand any of the true hate this one gets though, precisely because it IS so uninspired and predictable. And it's also, for all the oldies around here who don't seem to know this, totally realistic in showing how kids and teens today use their devices. They are on them all the time, everywhere, and they use them for everything from communication to schoolwork to artistic expression (all of which also overlap these days).

Yeah, "What's a computer?" is a dumb question, but ads today are generally dumb. And who cares what the kid looks like? At least he/ she is not being inappropriately sexualized, which is a much more serious problem in today's media landscape.

by Anonymousreply 79January 25, 2018 7:58 AM

Y’all that’s not barb.

by Anonymousreply 80January 25, 2018 8:13 AM

It’s just Apple managing to be both smug and tone deaf again, something they’ve had nailed for a while.

Besides, unless they make inroads into the ( huge ) serious gaming community belatedly, something they have missed out on, PCs and consoles will always win out. Apple locking their stuff down so tightly will never suit those of us who like to customise our stuff. I’d rather have a bespoke tower and be able to spend money on a state of the art graphics card when I need to than have to shell out the equivalent for something that looks good on a coffee table.

iPads are good for browsing. News, gossip and porn.

by Anonymousreply 81January 25, 2018 8:23 AM

R77, R79, what the fuck is wrong with you?

That smug arrogant and STUPID "What's a computer?!?" line at the end is enraging... like she doesn't fucking know what's being referred to.

If I ever snap and go postal, it will be because I've been forced to see this goddamned commercial one too many times.

No sane person can watch this shit and not feel stabby with that line at the end.

by Anonymousreply 82January 25, 2018 8:35 AM

lol I definitely think apple products are obnoxiously bourgie but the histrionics over this commercial are...unnecessary

by Anonymousreply 83January 25, 2018 8:41 AM

LOL @ R51.

I don't get why people are so enraged by the obvious pandering in this silly ad. ALL ads pander. It's their reason for being. Their whole purpose is to make you feel a certain way so you buy what they're selling. Buy an an iPad Pro = don't worry, you're not old, out of touch and obsolete.

To me there are far more annoying and condescending ads --car commercials that suck up to baby boomers, for instance. Loud classic rock songs playing in the background while buff looking old people rock climb, sky dive, and surf....LOL Then a masculine, rugged sounding voice over says things like ((cringe)), "sure you've had success, but you've never been one to settle. You live life to the fullest and on the edge." Ugh! So fucking annoying......and pure fantasy because most boomers are sitting at home on the couch.

by Anonymousreply 84January 25, 2018 8:55 AM
What's a computer?!?" line at the end is enraging... like she doesn't fucking know what's being referred to.

Of course she knows what a computer is.

She was being ironic. What she was saying is: "Who needs a computer?"

Enraging? Really? I thing some of the people watching this commercial are even dumber than the commercial.

by Anonymousreply 88January 25, 2018 9:21 AM

You're the one defending this smug little cunt in this terrible ad that turns off nearly everyone who watches it. Dumbass.

by Anonymousreply 89January 25, 2018 9:29 AM

I also thought she was kind of being a cunt to the nice neighbor lady (who just happens to be black).

Even if the neighbor said "What are you doing on your apokgoiho" - it's pretty clear she's referring to the thing you're using in your hand... it's already so bad in other ways though, as I covered in a few replies above.

I think it's about equal (maybe not as bad) as that horrid Pepsi Kendal Jenner commercial where she gives the cops a pepsi in the middle of a riot. Another millennial creation, no doubt. These agencies keep trying to get some kind of "vibe" that they don't understand or can't figure out how to translate to an ad (or shouldn't be translated to an ad).

by Anonymousreply 94January 25, 2018 10:57 AM

To those who wonder about the pro-trans slant of “Better Things”, it really isn’t. It’s pretty female-centered. I’m not sure that men - even gay men - would enjoy it so much. Sam has gay friends, she is very liberal and mouthy and I think her character would be appealing to a gay crowd, but I think the constant pondering of motherhood would be a turnoff.

But it’s funny and different and visually appealing. Maybe.

by Anonymousreply 95January 25, 2018 10:57 AM

Black lady to the twerp "Boy, you being smart?" Twerp: "I'm not a boy, or a girl" Black lady "Motherfuckin' cunt, that's what you is, you little motherfuckin' wiggabo cunt"

by Anonymousreply 97January 25, 2018 11:36 AM

That isn't a "tomboy" style - it is very clearly a "genderqueer" " non-binary" style . That was intended, along with the locations she goes to.

The tomboy style (and concept) seems to be banned. I think the last one we saw on TV was "Buddy" on "Family" in the 1970s.

by Anonymousreply 98January 25, 2018 11:41 AM

Dear r77 the commercial is a celebration of dumbness

by Anonymousreply 99January 25, 2018 12:26 PM

That girl is adorable. She embodies everything I’d love to have in a daughter. Like Lisa Simpson.

Unfortunately this thread embodies everything I hate about Datalounge.

by Anonymousreply 100January 25, 2018 12:36 PM

The knee-jerk responses of the people on this thread is a celebration of dumbness. How pathetic are you that commercial triggers you into a rage? Forget measuring people's IQ. We should star measuring people's emotional age?

by Anonymousreply 101January 25, 2018 12:38 PM

So many would be deemed "challenged".

by Anonymousreply 102January 25, 2018 12:40 PM

I don't mind the girl's style, but it bugs me how they make it seem like she can do all these things and experience life with the tablet, how she is not tied to the computer, when in reality she barely looks away from the screen and is not interacting with anyone or anything.

by Anonymousreply 103January 25, 2018 12:43 PM

The ad says that this kid doesn’t know anyone who knows what’s a computer since she never heard of them before this clueless black woman mentioned them. This kid is either extremely isolated or uneducated for not knowing what a computer is.

Or the black woman is meant to be shown as low class and ‘uneducated’ since she’s not aware that computers don’t exist anymore.

Either way, the ad is horrid.

by Anonymousreply 104January 25, 2018 12:48 PM

Is Xe related to Pajama Boy?

by Anonymousreply 105January 25, 2018 12:50 PM
when in reality she barely looks away from the screen and is not interacting with anyone or anything.

It’s a series of snippets of her life. We don’t know what she’s doing away from the iPad. And frankly why would Apple care to show us? It’s a fucking 30 second commercial meant to showcase their product! They should spend a few seconds showing it in book bag while she’s at the lunchroom table eating with her friends?

by Anonymousreply 106January 25, 2018 12:53 PM

Maybe that kid has been homeschooled, isn't allowed to interact with anyone and has been chained to her bed.

by Anonymousreply 107January 25, 2018 12:53 PM

R107 you truly are sick. You hate this girl so much that you’re fantasizing about her being chained to a bed and repeatedly raped? Do you know how deranged you people sound?

by Anonymousreply 108January 25, 2018 12:55 PM

The funniest part to me is when she's sitting way out of that tree limb. WTF? Old black lady should have said...."why don't you build a treehouse?" Then tranny kid could say, "what's a treehouse?"

by Anonymousreply 109January 25, 2018 12:57 PM

R108 You introduced the "reatedly raped" fantasy. I would definitely encourage you to seek help for your derangement.

by Anonymousreply 110January 25, 2018 1:00 PM

So that’s the source of DL’s animosity? You think she’s supposed to be transgender? 😂

by Anonymousreply 111January 25, 2018 1:03 PM

"Wiggabo". That's one for the books. Hahaha.

If this ad sets you off, whatever you do, don't watch the "New Beginnings" shitfest. Besides the infomercial-like length of it, the multi-culti agit-prop is cranked up so high that even the most virtue-signall-y goodwhite's heads might explode.

Don't touch children without their consent! #MeToo

by Anonymousreply 117January 25, 2018 1:13 PM

The girl looks like a number of young girls I've known.

And she's wearing earrings, nail polish, pink glasses, blue laces ....so I just don't get where any "trans ideology" is happening here. You're all joking, right? She looks modern and cute.

If I had to nitpick : the only things that might find objectionable are her feet up on the train... and her snapping down the computer on the counter of a locale. I hate that kind of behavior. But c'mon, it's just a commercial.

by Anonymousreply 118January 25, 2018 1:18 PM

NO! It is a threat to our very frauhood! Apple must be stopped!

by Anonymousreply 119January 25, 2018 1:21 PM

And it's kind of refreshing that the Black woman is depicted as just a simple normal person going about her business...rather than as a sassy IT expert or something ridiculous like that.

by Anonymousreply 120January 25, 2018 1:26 PM

If it's cold enough to require wearing a fucking down jacket why the fuck is she lying face down on the grass in the yard, trying to type.

And R120, the black woman is depicted as a clueless ancient old person who isn't hip or with it.

While the young girl is depicted as a fucked up snobby smug arrogant little shit with no social skills with her snide question at the end.

The ad is horrid, and I can't believe anyone where is defending it.

by Anonymousreply 123January 25, 2018 1:54 PM

It doesn't trigger lunatics.

But those who enjoy the ad expose themselves as wannabe hipsters who are to be avoided at all costs.

by Anonymousreply 124January 25, 2018 1:58 PM

It kind of scares me that the people on a gay site are such knee-jerk conservative reactionaries about "the different-than-me".

It's not conservative, knee-jerk, or reactionary, to loathe this terrible hipster smug-ass ad.

by Anonymousreply 127January 25, 2018 2:05 PM

by Anonymousreply 151January 25, 2018 6:02 PM

r96 made me laugh the hardest...

Btw, I doubt anyone is in a "rage" over this commercial. At least I'm not. I just criticized it / made fun of it - like I'd do with any other stupid commercial. A lot of people hated this commercial...it doesn't mean it made them filled with rage. It's more like it made me cringe for 5 seconds and perhaps my face looked like I smelled an errant fart.

by Anonymousreply 152January 25, 2018 6:48 PM

It's literally the only commercial on TV that makes me change the channel.

When I first saw it I thought she was a Barb from Stranger Things knockoff. The ad is kinda twee. The park made me think Prospect Park Brooklyn so made me think of how Brooklyn is sold back to people. She's a hip kid. Not sure it's the only way to see her, but her look is not inconsistent a genderqueer presentation. She's not being an asshole or ironic about "what's a computer?" I think they were trying to say she don't care while unintentionally making her look stupid for saying it while looking at one. She's so liberated in her bug drawings that she doesn't know her ipad is a total closed system or care one whit about how it operates or came into being. Thanks Apple.

by Anonymousreply 190January 26, 2018 12:04 AM

Let's be honest: the only people complaining about this are older people with no lives. The reason this triggers people is because it reminds them how old they are. Now of course this chick knows what a computer is (the actress) but the gimmick is that tablets are replacing computers similar to how smartphones replaced flip phones. It's similar to how eldergays get pissy when younger people don't know about Stonewall (something that happended awhile ago). It's not the younger generations job to remember your memories. It's a joke move on. How much could a commercial affect you?

R191 Except tablets are not replacing computers. iPad sales have been falling for years now, and laptop and desktop sales have levelled out and may begin to grow. ‘Tablets are useless for what you pay’ is a widespread sentiment. This ad is about Apple’s own commercial desperation to stay relevant which accounts for the tone deafness.

by Anonymousreply 203January 26, 2018 1:53 AM
This ad is about Apple’s own commercial desperation to stay relevant which accounts for the tone deafness.

😂 Yes Apple is so irrelevant. Like they don’t have the most innovative, most talked about smartphone in the iPhone X. Like the Apple Watch didn’t just overtake Rolex as the top selling timepiece globally with enough revenue and profit to be its own Fortune 500 company. Like they’re not on the verge of becoming the first Trillion dollar company. Like they weren’t just ranked the #1 most admired company by Fortune for the 11th consecutive year.

Take a hike, bozo.

by Anonymousreply 210January 26, 2018 2:26 AM

Now I wonder if the Official Datalounge Trans Obsessive is Russian. It's hard to believe anyone doesn't recognize that kid as ......a typical kid.

I remember when my son started kindergarten in NYC and I saw all the little girls back then wearing dresses AND pants together. The more the patterns of the dress and pants clashed, the better. Blue striped dress, red paisley pants, grey and white fake fur jackets, bright yellow socks. I had no idea they were dressing like "genderqueer trans."

by Anonymousreply 211January 26, 2018 2:36 AM

R207 you just proved my point. The parents can. The kids can’t.

Sometimes queens on this board are so dumb.

by Anonymousreply 212January 26, 2018 2:41 AM

R204, it's sad you think the iPhone X is the most innovative. I guess you think Animoji is amazing or something. Seriously, what a dog of a phone, and that 'notch' is hideous and stupid. And it FINALLY gets features that other phones have had for literally YEARS. It's not innovative, it's playing catch up. Never mind how buggy as fuck iOS 11 is.

Yes, Desperation for Apple to remain relevant... it's stale, boring even... but still so goddamned smug and arrogant and elitist. And sales have been seriously disappointing. Just like iPad sales. And klunky watch sales.

Wow you're retarded. Children don't buy iPads. Children watch television, see a product and ask their parents to buy it for them. This has been going on since Saturday morning cartoons debuted in the late 50s or early 1960s.

i dont know any families that •don't• have tablets for their kids. This commercial is aimed at kids to make the apple tablet seem the coolest, so kids will ask mom and dad to get that specific one for them for Christmas or their birthday or as a reward for good grades. I know this seems alien to you, but that's how families -- and how advertizers-- work.

'The people who don't get this thread or the comments are the clueless ones defending it

1. First of all people here are having fun joking about the ad. There is zero hysteria or rage. A lot of the comments are very funny . ' 2. The most clueless comment might be "what do you want her to do , wear a 'dress?'

the kid is not dressed tomboy style, but very affected intentionally ugly "genderfluid trans nonbinary' style of 20 sometihngs that have been indoctrinated in this bs. Why is she dressing like a 20 year old and doing things older kids would do? The point of the ad is to push "hip" things and they think it is even more "now' and "young" to have a kid doing it.... plus the latest accessory "transkids"

No kid dressed like that in 1983. Kids rode around on their bikes sure, but they were not seeking out the trendiest bullshit like this kid. The 80s had their ugly moments but no one cool was wearing those glasses. Secretaries and some poor kids maybe.

Seriously, if any of you haven't had an Android device, make the switch. Their technology is ahead of Apple's by miles. Apple was boasting of finally having wireless chsrginf, but I had it with my s6 years ago.

Droids are a better choice fiscally, and is more user friendly. The one thing I'll give to iPhone, is their camera. Unless taking the perfect selfie, and having an iPhone for the hell of it is important to you, go Android.

What practical real world purpose is there for learning cursive? Think of all the writing you do all day long. Is even 10% of it by hand? It’s hard to think of anytime that you’re not typing on a computer, iPad or phone. I bet you think kids need to learn how to change typewriter ribbon and switch out the records on the phonograph too!

The fact some are still arguing about what little girls should and shouldn't wear shows how invested we are in molding them into a traditionally subservient role [bold]: ([/bold]

If a girl wants to cut off her hair, run around in geeky glasses and wear jeans, work on your own look if it bothers you.
R244 What practical real world purpose is there for learning cursive?

You can bet kids in private school still learn cursive handwriting. It means they have a tool, and social status, kids from public school don't. It will become a very strong marker between the [italic]haves[/italic] and the [italic]have-nots[/italic] as time goes by.

It also means the individual will be completely dependent on accesories in the workplace. One power failure and they're useless. If they're going to become a car mechanic or cafeteria worker maybe they don't need it, but working with others at higher levels they do.

I like the image of them bringing a Post-It to their boss' office and interrupting to ask what instruction is written on it...or what the scribbles on their proof-read rough draft for a proposal mean.

Trans are NOT the enemy of gay people. They support us and we should support them. We’re all queer brothers and sisters together.

by Anonymousreply 257January 28, 2018 1:33 AM

It's just so fucking twee. And I have to worry about the nature of a kid who climbs up in a tree way out on a branch to type, or who lies on her stomach in the grass to type when there's a chair nearby. And to be so dismissive and rude to the neighbor lady, not even glancing her way.... this commercial is just terrible, and the kid is terrible, and the product is terrible and over-priced....

I can't believe there's anyone defending anything about this commercial.

It's so bad it's made me hate the music. I hear that intro and immediately change the channel. I feel bad for whatever group did that music, hoping to get a really popular hit out of it. I love the music with some of the other Apple ads (the ones that don't completely suck). But man, this is the worst ad I've ever seen and it's made me HATE the music.

They are absolutely the biggest enemy of gay men and lesbians right now

They are pushing a gay cleanse of children

They destroyed gay organizations

They are destroying gay progress

They insult and attack gay men and lesbians

The word "queer' is a slur against gay people
R257 Trans are NOT the enemy of gay people. They support us and we should support them. We’re all queer brothers and sisters together.

It's sad this even has to be said. But Yes (obviously)

Part of the problem for some is there's so few trans people in our everyday lives (they're a tiny minority) that some people just react to what they see on the Internet. [talic]("If it's on the Internet, it MUST be true!")[/italic] So they read some article about a supposed "trans rebelion" and go into meltdown mode.

It's like when conservatives who would use footage of Dykes on Bikes, or extreme gays in drag and assless chaps, from Pride Marches and cry, "THIS is the gay community! STOP THEM!" When really, that was only a small percent of gay people's lives.

Surely there are angry, crazy trans people with a spiteful agenda, just like there are angry, crazy field workers, housewives, bank presidents etc. with a spiteful agenda. But again, they're a small number that doesn't necessarily represent all those classes of people.

I don't know what makes some fear trans individuals. It's probably because they don't really know any. So they don't see them as individuals...but rather as a scary THEM.

by Anonymousreply 265January 28, 2018 2:15 AM

Couple of things. First, Apple is feeling the heat from Microsoft for their line of Surface products. I draw for a living in a real office at a real firm, and I have a Surface Studio. I also have a Surface Pro. It makes anything Apple has come up with look like and feel like shit. The stylus on the shitty Apple stuff feels like you are drawing with a plastic straw. The Microsoft Surface line is amazing with the feel of the pen, and it's more responsive.

The kid was beat by an ugly stick, and fits the bill for the product. I don't care what you want to call her, but she's an obnoxious little weirdo.

True Apple is going for every hot button in this creepy commercial, but they have to. They suck.

by Anonymousreply 266January 28, 2018 2:19 AM

The girl actually does look up & she looks back to the neighbor when answering. I had to watch it again to double check. I thought she didn't look up from the tablet either...from memory.

The commercial is so bad that it actually changes your memory of it - no joke. This kind of thing is studied in cognitive psychology. I remember a class in college where we studied experiments where similar kinds of things happened. Maybe it's social psychology too actually. I think I remember it being common in stereotype research - like you more easily remember the things congruent with your existing beliefs.

Nope. It's all of them. There are no normal trannies. All are damaged and dysfunctional.....mentally unstable. If they were normal they wouldn't be going around telling everyone the sky is green. There is no such thing as being born the "wrong" sex. There is only acceptance of what is.

ikr? Like wtf, how are there suddenly so many fucking lunatics on this site, a GAY-FRIENDLY SITE, pushing the insane trans agenda every chance they get? Insisting that trannies were the real heroes of Stonewall, accusing lesbians of "transphobia" (which isn't a real thing, btw) when said lesbians don't want to suck their dicks, insisting that dicks can be feminine and men can give birth... it's a fucking madhouse here!

by Anonymousreply 288January 30, 2018 9:04 AM

R288, I think it is just one or two Ts posting over and over. They do this on every T-related thread. They have nothing credible to say and just call people names and try to shut threads down. The t madness cannot stand scrutiny so they try to silence discussion.
