BelAmi called out for being racist because they spent 2 years filming porn in South Africa with NO black models for new movie
They said they chose South Africa because it was so beautiful...but when you look at the bedroom scenes they could have been filmed anywhere in Europe. How bizarre not to use even 1 black model. Of course BelAmi has its defenders. Why bother going to any country outside of Europe if they want to keep their same old white models?
We know there's plenty of racism in porn but I think BelAmi takes the cake with this shit. The name of their new film sounds stupid as hell too

Do people really have much experience with BelAmi? There was a discussion like this years ago over on Atkol. Supposedly, BelAmi shoots in Africa because the lighting is better during the European winter. Their models are mainly Czech or Slovak guys, who they then assign nom de porns based on some fictitious ethnicity, or a comparison to a well-know celebrity.
Jerome Exupery, Claude Sorel, Ariel Vanean, Jean-Luc Bisset, Phillipe Gaudin: French (not) Zac DeHaan: Dutch (not) Tim Campbell, Tim Hamilton, Josh Elliott, Colin Hewitt, Luke Hamill: British (not) Rocco Alfieri, Alex Orioli, Adam Archuleta: Italian (not) Manuel Rios: Spanish (not) Tommy Hansen, Jason Knightly: American (not)
Can you imagine the outrage if they started assigning 'black' names to performers? They're sort of in a no-win situation in this case. And, for the record I'm a big fan of lots of black porn performers, all the way back to Gene Lamar and Ty Jones, and my present favorites, like Jacen Zhu.

I don't have a dog in this fight but if they had used black porn actors, wouldn't the SJWs be even more outraged over the sexual exploitation of the oppressed blacks by foreign colonialist white guys.

Bel Ami is a European company. And I like my Bel Ami performers to be beautiful white boys with intact penises. I don't even want any Americans mixed in with the Bel Ami boys. And I certainly don't want to see any mutilated penises in a Bel Ami video.

I think I get how this becomes a topic. BelAmi recently featured Latinos during their filming in Southern America (Columbia?) and some SJWs picked this up and cried out loud when the studio didn't do the same for their shooting in Africa.

R7 please. Half of them certainly aren't beautiful. If they're so focused on being European, why not stay in Europe? What's the point of making a big deal of shooting in a non-European country if they're going to use the same dull euro cast?

One of the most idiotic discussions ever. If you're into black guys, great. There's plenty of interracial and all-black gay porn to be found.
Every porn producer, large and small, has their own niche: twink, thug, muscle, BDSM, whatever. Don't expect Bel Ami or any other company to conform their business model to your particular tastes, interests, or kinks.

Fashion mags do the same thing. During the winter they'll do shoots where there's sunny weather and days are long. It's about the locale, the scenery, the sunsets, the water.
BelAmi has its cast, its "look", its niche and it'll stay true the brand.

It’s formula is Central European guys, just like there are specific sites that have only Latino, black, British, etc. The location of the shoot doesn’t change the studio’s reason for being.

Bel Ami's focus has always been pretty young East European white boys, that is what their audience wants. They have filmed in Greece, Italy, France, and didn't film sex scenes with any of the locals there either. They control their model pool. They have had scenes with blacks in the past but that's just a few exceptions. Asking Bel Ami to include models of other ethnicity and race is a bit ridiculous.

They could release some great movies in the winter with the guys goofing around in the snow and making out in log cabins and saunas. BelAmi never made their own "The Other Side of Aspen" (Falcon Studios) winter series. It's always sunny Greek or Africa.

I'm a black person who watches Bel Ami. Bel Ami and to some degree Helix have never run from their mission. Which is to show pretty white twinks fucking. Helix will throw in a caramel or biracial guy into the mix every now and again, but these studios are pretty clear as to what they're up to. There are many studios that feature black performers. Black guys are not being excluded from porn. This is a nonsense debate. If BelAmi isn't providing the type of porn that you want to see, then don't go their site. It's like being outraged that Treasure Island doesn't use models who are meth and STI free.

The interaction began when Willoughby, who is a transgender broadcaster in the U.K., asked Ginuwine, a D.C. native, if he would date a transgender woman.
“I’m a woman, right,” Willoughby says. “Forget about any ‘t’s, or anything in front of it. So, on that score, you would date me, wouldn’t you?”
“Not if you told me you was trans,” Ginuwine replies.
“No, no, I’m not telling you I’m trans,” Willoughby says. “I’m a woman.”
“A woman? Yeah,” Ginuwine says.

Also, someone pointing out an injustice is not actually a thing to feel threatened by, unless you have some vested interested in said injustice, in which case you are probably complicit. I was reading an article in the Israeli paper Haaretz about the rise of amateur Israeli porn. The article was mostly about gay porn, as according to the article, most amateur porn from Israel is gay. The director from one of the gay website says that the public likes Mizrahi actors (a Mizrahi are is a Jew from a Middle Eastern country) but says that can't always be done because it's hard to film with them. Mind you, the Mizrahim are half the Jewish population in Israel, so if they're hard to reach, it's not because they're few of them but probably because they're more conservative than the Ashkenazim.
I'd bet South African Blacks are more conservative than white South Africans as well.
And there's also the subject of AIDS. A huge share of South Africans have AIDS, whose incidence is higher with Black than white people.

Let's just call it what it is: A few guys who are into black cock, white guys most probably, have their panties in a twist because the majority of the population doesn't share their predilection.

I'm curious to know what would happen if a big studio with enough money (not some amateur shit) decided to do porn only with black, asian and latino actors. Would it be a success? Would black, asian and latino gay watch it?
Cause let's be clear, porn studios are about money, not charity, white supremacy or social justice. If they think they can make big bucks with black actors they'll do it.
People say there's no people of colors in gay porn because racism and white supremacy, yadda, yadda, but it seems a bit too convenient. I don't know why people prefer white actors in porn, personally I like bears and asians (even if good asian porn is super hard to find) but I doubt it's only because people are bigots and KKK members.

Some interracial couples are really nice together but 99% of black/black has a nasty gheto/ cheap amateur vibe as if they can't find some nice black gays for their movies.

To be so upset over BelAmi featuring almost all white models, while US-based companies like Sean Cody or Corbin Fisher also focus on white models, is pretty hypocritical. Porn companies that offer pay-per-view scenes know which performers their customers prefer. Some people will pay BelAmi, while others will pay Dawgpoundusa or Taggaz. There is porn out there for every individual taste. This original article tries to spark outrage over the fact that BelAmi filmed a lot of scenes in Africa, but didn't use African models. Jean-Daniel Cadinot used lots of African models: French-speaking guys from North Africa. There are plenty of guys with African origins in France. I don't think there are many people with African ancestries in the Czech Republic (or its closest neighbors).
A second point: BelAmi has its own 'stable' of performers. People like Lukas Ridgestone or Johan Paulik have worked with them for many years. They don't just randomly hire new people all the time. Many of their former performers end up working behind the camera. It's a very different mentality to what we're accustomed to in American pron.
Its silly for me to sound like I'm defending them, when I'm not really a fan of their work. I have a few of their videos, but my preferences are elsewhere. But I think Zach Sire's original article is sort hit piece. I can't see him doing the same thing to Corbin Fisher or Sean Cody, and losing the advertising revenue.

[quote]unfortunately there really is racism among the porn stars
Until they need the money. Reminds me of Paul Canon who tweeted that he was "not sexually attracted to colored people." When called on it, he said it was just his "preference." In time, though, he relaxed his preferences.
Still, racism among some porn stars isn't why there aren't more interracial scenes because there are plenty who would gladly do it. It's lack of demand, real or perceived.

This is more about who's buying its porn than anything else. Bel Ami obviously has its niche of buyers. They - as any successful business does - will cater to that market. That's how business works. It sticks to a business model that produces revenue.

The guys are beautiful but Bel Ami is boring. And I do think I stopped taking them seriously when I saw how badly Austin Merrick (who IMHO is beautiful and had way more charisma than most Bel Ami boys) was treated. Oh well, guess their target audience just do not like other ethnicities. I do remember the Out in Africa scene with Adam Dexter and Tommy Hansen being the hottest scene but my aesthetic is beautiful men, not really limited by skin color.

Legal question: were they actually allowed to employ local South-Africans for sex work?
Perhaps SA requires a company to be locally registered to employ locals for pornography within SA?
I'm not even sure what was Bel Ami's status in SA. Were they there on tourist visas? If so, they may not technically be allowed to hire local porn actors for a business.

For those shocked by the use of "caramel" as an adjective: just watch "Disjointed" on Netflix. I lost track of how many times they joked about "caramel babies" and interracial sex.
In America, many black establishments (and black sorority/fraternity parties) had the so-called "brown paper bag test" to determine whether or not someone could get in... if you were lighter than a brown paper bag, you were allowed in.

Why do some maps show it as "Czechia?" Is that the official name in the local language? Because obviously there's no "republic" in there. If we can call Slovakia "Slovakia," and not "the Slovak Republic," why can't we use Czechia?

It took at least a decade before I could call Ukraine "Ukraine" without feeling weird about omitting the leading "the" (as in, "the Ukraine").
Oddly, my grandparents (first-generation Ukranian-Americans) always called it "Ukrania" (which, presumably, was close to what their parents called it). My guess is that the country's name (written in Cyrillic) probably ends with a vowel pronounced something like "ya" that gets Romanized as "e", and gets (mis)pronounced by (American?) English-speakers as "silent e".

[quote] No one calls the Czech Republic Czechia.
"Czhechia" is how most of its neighbors and other European countries call it, both historically and currently - "Ché-hee-ya" (with the stress on the first syllable). Those countries include (but not limited to) Greece, Bulgaria, Spain, Russia, Poland, the Netherlands and some Scandinavian countries. The Germans have a slight variation (pronounced "Che-hee-yen").
In 2016 the Czech gov't officially adopted "Czechia" as a shorter, punchier, alternative name. Because "Czech Republic" sounds too cumbersome & a mouthful. But (some) Czechs are nonplussed by the new alternative name - because they call it "Česka [Cheska] Republika" or "Česko" [Chesko] for short, AFAIK.
They could've gone with "Czesko" as a short name instead, but it sounds a bit colloquial.
[quote] Oddly, my grandparents (first-generation Ukranian-Americans) always called it "Ukrania" (which, presumably, was close to what their parents called it).
Ukraine is not "Ukrania" in the local language - it's "Ukraïna". The umlauf above the "i" denotes a long sound and a stress on that vowel - "Ukra - ee- na". That's also how many other Eastern European countries call it.

Btw, the easiest way to annoy an Ukrainian is to say "The" Ukraine. Don't know why it vexes them so much - "The" is almost like an expression of respect and honor.
My only guess is they're grammatical purists. "The" should generally only be used for countries and islands named in the plural (the Netherlands, the Seychelles...).
