Louise Lasser, could we get a statement?

Why hasn't the press hounded her for a Woody Allen comment?

She was married to him.

by Anonymousreply 38February 13, 2018 11:43 AM

Because I am the only one of Woody's exes whose opinion counts!

by Anonymousreply 1January 20, 2018 3:47 PM

Sure, just as soon as we get one from Alfred Lutter.

by Anonymousreply 2January 20, 2018 3:56 PM

Because it's tax time and she's J K Lasser's daughter.

by Anonymousreply 3January 20, 2018 4:00 PM

She’s too stoned to comment.

by Anonymousreply 4January 20, 2018 4:20 PM

No one knows who (or where) she is.

by Anonymousreply 5January 20, 2018 4:23 PM

I know who she is, r5!

You want a statement from a woman divorced from him 48 years ago? Really?

by Anonymousreply 7January 21, 2018 2:14 PM

I don't want one, but I'm surprised the press, desperate for even a whiff of judgment, hasn't sought her out.

If Susan Fucking Dey can’t be bothered to tweet in the wake of the David Cassidy tragedy, why should the entire world be holding its breath for Louise Lasser to comment on Woody Allen’s alleged kiddie-fiddling?

by Anonymousreply 9January 21, 2018 3:01 PM

Louise Lasser should hold semi-legend status on DL based on her participation in It's a Living.

She played Ellen Burstyn's friend in everybody's favorite feel-good movie of 2000, Requiem for a Dream.

I want her to issue a statement, but in the character of Mary Hartman.

I think she could have a new career as a YouTuber making pronouncements on the daily scandals flooding social media.

She was teaching acting at HB Studios in New York for a while. but is no longer listed as faculty on their website, whereas Helen Gallagher, Marsha Mason, Lorraine Serabian, Laura Esterman, Austin Pendleton and Mercedes Ruehl are all teaching there now.

Coffee, Tea, or Me.

Isn't this in the DL canon?

From linked article. The dollhouse incident would have made a top-notch thread back in the day.

The exhaustion lead (sic) to one famous instance in which Lasser was arrested after trying to buy a dollhouse at an antique store. At first, Lasser refused to leave the store after she couldn't pay for the gift. When the cops showed up to diffuse the situation, they found a small bag of narcotics in her purse.

She covers Woody Allen in this interview, but it's from five years ago.

It is actually a great interview. Chunks of her life are extremely sad.

I never knew she appeared on Girls.

I remember as a child having a hard time watching Mary Hartman, but not being able to articulate why. And she explains in the interview what my kid self was feeling but couldn't say.

The book COFFEE, TEA OR ME? was recently reprinted and there's a chapter in there that's shockingly homophobic. It's a great title, but the book was ghosted and even partly fabricated by Donald Bain. I'm surprised someone hasn't used the title and the stories in the book (and its three sequels) to make a musical.

by Anonymousreply 17January 21, 2018 5:49 PM

^ What is the homo-hating chapter about? Is there a gay flight attendant?

When did gay flight attendants start becoming a thing, anyway?

by Anonymousreply 18January 21, 2018 6:41 PM

He certainly has a type.

by Anonymousreply 19January 21, 2018 6:51 PM

Has anyone here seen the infamous SNL episode that she hosted?

I dealt with her recently. She's not faring too well. Very hit-or-miss in terms of mental acuity.

She did talk about being Barbra Streisand's understudy in I Can Get it For You Wholesale. How Babs would get a standing ovation in the middle of the show with her number. The times Louise went on, she... didn't.

by Anonymousreply 21January 21, 2018 7:21 PM

Someone should do an anthology of interviews with people who had to understudy for sensations.

It would make an interesting read.

by Anonymousreply 22January 21, 2018 8:16 PM

A terrific recent interview with her.

The interview at r23 is really interesting. Her experience in the early- to mid-sixties is a great window into the comedy and film scene of the era.

I'm struck by how much she sounds like an old lady, which she is, and what an age-appropriate leading lady for Woody Allen might have been over the past forty years. It seems he finally broke down and cast Elaine May opposite him for his Six Scenes series. Her timing at 85 is as good as it ever was.

Did anyone watch this show? It looks kind of terrible, but I'm curious about Elaine May and Miley Cyrus. Please tell me she doesn't morph into his love interest.

She and Madeline Kahn are the two funniest ladies, that never got the credit they deserve to. .Both of them steal every scene they are in and are hysterically funny.

by Anonymousreply 25January 22, 2018 3:35 PM

Louise Lasser is a master of deadpan.

I am surprised that she hadn’t considered comedy at all when she was starting out.

by Anonymousreply 26January 22, 2018 11:42 PM

Batshit crazy. Who knows what she would say.

by Anonymousreply 27January 23, 2018 1:44 AM

Loved her at Alex's ex-wife on Taxi.

by Anonymousreply 28January 23, 2018 2:42 AM

She gets singled out for praise in the Fathers of the Bride episode of Taxi.

Pairing the Mary Hartman with this song makes both the series and the song seem even sadder.

I always thought of Mary Hartman as a sinking soul that no one around her recognized enough to throw her a rope.

She's too busy with yellow waxy buildup.

by Anonymousreply 31January 29, 2018 11:17 PM

she passed away loong ago

by Anonymousreply 32January 29, 2018 11:33 PM

The woman who played Heather Hartman on 'Mary Hartman', Claudia Lamb, has a blog in which she's posted some harrowing things about being exploited by her parents as a child star.

She was the only reason to watch ‘It’s A Living’. Sorry, Ann Jillian and the Tylenol pain lady...but it’s true.

by Anonymousreply 35February 12, 2018 11:59 AM

She probably was loaded for her entire marriage to Allen, not to mention years afterward. I doubt that she remembers anything before 1990 and she probably bathing to say.

by Anonymousreply 36February 12, 2018 1:38 PM

Bathing, indeed, r36.

by Anonymousreply 37February 13, 2018 11:38 AM

Marian Mercer is the best reason to watch It’s/Making a Living.

They should have centered the show around her like they centered this photo around her.
