Crest White Strips, much to my surprise, work great.

[r1] which ones? How long does it take?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | January 19, 2018 9:02 PM |
I believe the ones I used were a 10-pack that you do for ten days in a row. There are two strips that you put on for 30 minutes. I think they also have ones that you leave on for an hour, but I don't know the difference. It's supposed to last 6 months, and I did them about 5 months ago and my teeth still look great.

Brush with Baking soda every other day.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 19, 2018 9:10 PM |
Don't bother, as I never show them.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 19, 2018 9:16 PM |
Please don't ever use baking soda as it's way too abrasive. Or lemon juice.
When it comes to teeth, go with dental experts because you can easily fuck your enamel up forever with homemade concoctions. And no, that's not marketing talk, just common sense. An also a cautionary tale from someone who ruined his own enamel by brushing his teeth with baking soda just once.

I'd love to find a peroxide free method. Peroxide irritates my mouth lips and teeth.

I've been using Opalescence Go (see link), and so far I'm very happy with my results. My teeth were stained from years of coffee-drinking, so much so I was looking to have them whitened by a cosmetic dentist. However, the kit I'm using at home seems to be working, and I'm only five "treatments" in (10 in all). It's super easy and affordable. I was skeptical as I haven't had much luck with the less expensive kits, but I'm glad I tried this brand.

Getting them cleaned every four months. Stain must be scraped off by a dental hygienist, "teeth whiteners" are not for that job though they would have you believe they are.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 19, 2018 9:41 PM |
I was using a home kit that I got from my dentist. It made my teeth brighter, but not whiter. Not a good look. I have no idea why that happened, but even my friends noticed.

Thinking about bringing this up with my dentist.

My sister is an orthodontist and brother-in-law is a dentist. My brother-in-law said crest white strips are by far the *easiest* route, and they do work. If you already have trays from your dentist from a previous whitening treatment, he recommended buying Opalescence PF 15% off amazon. He also mentioned getting your dentist to do very light abrasion on your teeth during a cleaning and getting off the gross stuff, much like R9 was talking about.

My! You have the whitest teeth I've ever cum across!

I take an emery board to my teeth about every four months , it's a little uncomfortable but it works...use the fine side.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 19, 2018 11:22 PM |
are those charcoal toothpastes and toothbrushes safe?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | January 19, 2018 11:34 PM |
Have used crest strips with great success.
A dentist friend also told me to mix a small bit of baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and toothpaste together in a small container like a prescription medicine bottle. Brush with mixture only the front and side teeth (but not back teeth). Only do this about once every three weeks to a month.
Haven't tried yet but will this weekend.

I bought Crest strips from Amazon in a higher peroxide concentration than what you can buy at the drug store, I got great results. So good in fact when i started with a new dentist shortly after he asked if my previous dentist had just done a laser treatment. I was pleasantly surprised although I didn’t love the tooth sensitivity. I don’t know if I’d do it again because i didn’t like the sensitive feeling, I’m a wimp for pain.

Arm & Hammer Baking Soda toothpaste and Crest White Strips Professional

Opalescence is the gold standard. You can only get it from dentists. They make a trays for your teeth and then you just buy the gel periodically.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | January 20, 2018 12:51 AM |
Ive tried those trays with gels in them.
They make me gag so I stopped. Crest strips are so much easier

It never lasts with me. Apparently I've worn a lot of my enamel away. I go right back to drinking iced tea and slathering mustard on everything, and within days they are dingey again.

What's a red wine drinker to do? ....sigh

Definitely Crest White Strips.
One of my ex boyfriends was a Dentist. He told me he constantly had all these patients that would come in with bright, white, teeth. He figured they had "cheated on him" and gone to a different Dentist to have the whitening done. He'd ask them about it and they would all tell him they used the Crest White Strips.
So, that's the way to go if you want something quick, cheap, easy and that gives you basically the same results you'd get using the professional stuff.
Just be aware that everyone's maximum white is different. You might get better results than others or your results might not be the sparkling white you're hoping for. It all depends on your teeth.

the strips make my gums so sore./raw
any suggestions??
by Anonymous | reply 29 | January 20, 2018 2:05 AM |
R29... don't put them on your gums? They aren't supposed to be.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | January 20, 2018 2:06 AM |
I use the Opalescence 15% gel once a week, brush with Opalescence tooth paste once daily (use different pastes the other 3-4 times a day I brush - yes I'm obsessed) and rinse once a day with Glamourous White wash. People do notice my teeth but they're not annoyingly bright.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 20, 2018 2:34 AM |
I use Pearl Drops.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 20, 2018 2:41 AM |
i tried tumeric and coconut oil once and was surprised at the difference after one use, but it ruined the tooth brush and stained my lips a bit.

"... don't put them on your gums? They aren't supposed to be."
But how can I avoid that?

Is that brighter but not whiter thing what gives reality stars that blueish cast to their mouth? I always notice that on the Bravo reunion shows.

Crest 3D strips, toothpaste and mouthwash. Works great, and I have had my teeth whitened in the past by a dentist.

Semensai from some young guy.

I had my teeth whitened by a dentist. It didn't do much except cause a lot of pain.
Crest strips worked 10 times better and caused no pain.

For those who have complaints of gum soreness - especially from those trays with the goo - use them every few days, not on consecutive days. That should be a no-brainer, yet so many nitwts can't figure it out. Aqua Fresh's very effective whitener is not carried by most retailers because of it.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | January 20, 2018 4:43 PM |
Excuse me - AquaFresh trays have been TAKEN OFF THE MARKET.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | January 20, 2018 4:49 PM |
How's your enamel, R31?
by Anonymous | reply 43 | January 20, 2018 5:13 PM |
I might give the whitening strips another try, but not the very strong ones that I bought from Amazon. I’ll just buy the regular ones from the drugstore. I think I might have better luck with sensitivity now because I’ve been using sensitivity toothpaste for the past three months, the kind that actually builds up a sort of enamel on your teeth. So maybe the bleaching won’t hurt as much
by Anonymous | reply 44 | January 20, 2018 7:23 PM |
I find straight bleach is best. I just gargle it.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | January 22, 2018 4:09 AM |
I tried the whitening strips but I tend to salivate a lot and they just started floating around in my mouth.
I want to try one of the methods where you use a tray.

I would just get veneers. I should as I have a few crowns which never match right, unless you get them done all at once.
