Tina Turner: "Africans are lazy"

Rude bitch

by Anonymousreply 74April 27, 2021 4:25 AM

Has anyone ever listened to his bitch? Here are some quotes

You've come a long way in life, Tina. You must feel very satisfied in how you've pulled yourself together in the last ten years since leaving Ike.

I don't have one debt at the moment. I have a home now. I always wanted a home, but I didn't have one because my parents broke up. I was determined to have that foundation. So I bought my mother a house, and now we all go there – my sons, my sister, her daughter. I'm reliving something I wanted when I was a child. The principal's daughters had homes, and now I have a home. I've made that dream a reality.

I'm self-made. I always wanted to make myself a better person, because I was not educated. But that was my dream – to have class. Now it's too late for that. You can't read a book like my autobiography and say, "She's classy." You can say, "She's a respectable woman," but you can't say "classy." My role model was always Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Now, you're talking about high stuff, right? [Laughs.] My taste was high. So when it came to role models, I looked at presidents' wives. Of course, you're talking about a farm girl who stood in the fields, dreaming, years ago, wishing she was that kind of person. But if I had been that kind of person, do you think I could sing with the emotions I do? You sing with those emotions because you've had pain in your heart. The bloodline of my family didn't come from that kind of royalty. Why I relate to it, I don't know. That's the class I wanted to be. But I wasn't, so I dealt with the class I was in. I have never disrespected myself, and I'm still very proud of myself. But society doesn't look at that as class, that type of woman. Society respects me, I think, because I'm self-made and I climbed to the top. But it was the high-class black people I wanted respect from. So I never let go of that dream.

by Anonymousreply 1January 19, 2018 8:01 AM

Another one.

Were you a good student?

No, I was a dumb girl. I wasn't interested in school. I'm sure there was some psychological factor about my home life. Without knowing it, I was afraid and embarrassed, which is why I wasn't as good in school as I wanted to be. But I was always promoted, because I had manners and personality and I tried. I turned in my homework, even though it was most times wrong. I took hard stuff, like French – anything that would make me a better person. But what I did was the common-sense thing – that's surviving [laughs]. I was always worried I wouldn't pass, but I felt I had to graduate, because that was the respectable thing to do.

by Anonymousreply 2January 19, 2018 8:04 AM

i understand she’s incredibly and cruelly verbally abusive to hotel staff. so much for “class.”

by Anonymousreply 3January 19, 2018 8:08 AM

i worship her and her work/voice of the ages!

dont give a dam what she says, she is QUEEN OF ROCK AND ROLL

by Anonymousreply 4January 19, 2018 8:09 AM

Lol, this one is hilarious

Do you recall the first time you laid eyes on Ike?

I thought he was terribly ugly.

by Anonymousreply 5January 19, 2018 8:10 AM

What does this mean?

When did your sexual relationship with Ike begin? He had broken up with the mother of his two sons, who I ended up raising. He was without a girlfriend. One of the musicians said he was going to come to my room and have sex with me. I couldn't lock the door, so I went to sleep with Ike, thinking he would protect me. Shit! [Laughs.] It happened then, but I thought, "Well, okay, I'll just do it once." [Laughs.] I didn't really know what to do because I wasn't turned on to him, even though [laughs] it was good. I did enjoy the physical part, but I didn't love him, and I didn't like it because of that.

by Anonymousreply 6January 19, 2018 8:16 AM

Sounds like Ike was good in the sack but a shit human being. It happens.

by Anonymousreply 7January 19, 2018 8:20 AM

This question would not go over well today.

Are you more attracted to black men or white men?

In the early part of my life, I liked light-skinned guys better than dark-skinned guys. The people I've dated since my divorce have been white because I haven't been in a circle where there were a lot of black people. I can't say that I'm not still attracted to black men. My preference is a very light-skinned black man. And my preference in white men is blond. But I haven't seen any black or white men that I've liked lately. I've traveled the world; I'm in Europe a lot, and I don't see any over there I like, either. I am a rock & roll singer. I am not drawn into other worlds very often.

I am surrounded by white people, but I didn't handpick them to make sure they were white. I needed new management. And one of my dancers was white. She had met Lee Kramer. She said his company was looking for acts to manage. With Roger I liked that he was young, aggressive and hungry.

by Anonymousreply 8January 19, 2018 8:21 AM

That girl has a BIG Tina problem.

by Anonymousreply 9January 19, 2018 8:22 AM

You are an exquisite-looking woman. Do you think you're beautiful?

I'm nowhere near beautiful. Ethiopian women are beautiful: their sculptured faces, their noses, their hairline. And Scandinavian women are beautiful. I love that complete blond hairline. They almost glisten, they're so white. I don't have a great figure, but I know how to dress my body. My legs are nice, and I know the right shoes to wear to make my legs look pretty. I know how to make myself look good, but I'm not a pretty woman. I'm in the class with folks who are "all right."

This woman speaks the truth as she sees it.

She made herself what she is and is now worth: $250 Million.

(and she visited Australia and advised the natives there that shouldn't be losers)

by Anonymousreply 11January 19, 2018 8:33 AM

R11 She's a lucky bitch and good entertainer with a terrible personality. The level of ignorance that she puts on display in one interview says everything I need to know about her. Don't throw money around like it means anything or I guess Donald Trump is the epitome of class and intelligence.

by Anonymousreply 12January 19, 2018 8:38 AM

Tina's mother claimed she was pure Native American. An ancestry DNA test later revealed that Tina had no Native ancestry.

by Anonymousreply 13January 19, 2018 8:51 AM

R12. Are you African, dude?

by Anonymousreply 14January 19, 2018 8:51 AM

R14,Nope

by Anonymousreply 15January 19, 2018 8:55 AM

R15 Well, if you're not African, you're a Virtue-Signaller.

Why do want to take on the opinions of women from 30 years ago? Have you heard what Olive Schriener said about Africas? It's doozie!

by Anonymousreply 16January 19, 2018 9:06 AM

R16 It's not just that interview, it's the other things she's said that have also been posted in this thread. She's a dumb bitch and her opinions have not changed. She even performed in fucking Apartaid Africa.

I am not "virtue signaling". You probably would have a problem if she came after gay men or said something negative about Whites.

by Anonymousreply 17January 19, 2018 9:12 AM

I admire her more after reading these quotes. She sounds very self aware, honest and not delusional.

Many stars are often pretty crazy and self entitled.

I don't understand the point OP is trying to make.

by Anonymousreply 18January 19, 2018 9:13 AM

Slavery wasn't so bad either.

by Anonymousreply 19January 19, 2018 9:18 AM

R17 I really wouldn't have a problem if she came after gay men or said something negative about Whites because I understand she's living in some millionaire's twilight home biding her time until her God calls her to him.

Have you heard of that expression 'Pick your battles'?

by Anonymousreply 20January 19, 2018 9:42 AM

IDK, from all I've read, she's OK. This is her truth; these are her preferences. Maybe I am missing something: she wanted what she perceived was something better: so what? She thought Ike was ugly--OK...

by Anonymousreply 21January 19, 2018 10:19 AM

Tina said "Africans are lazy" way back in 1976.

Where are the SJWs to tell us that "Africans are lazy" now in 2018?

by Anonymousreply 22January 19, 2018 10:24 AM

I disagree with her re: Africans are lazy, but never having been there, she's probably been exposed to more Africans than I. As far as the food, IDK...

by Anonymousreply 23January 19, 2018 10:27 AM

She's lucky she found a niche in music that made her famous. With that limited voice of hers she wouldn't have gone anywhere in black music.

I saw a documentary about her on tour, preparing and rehersing for shows and she did come across arrogant and very unpleasant.

No surprise she's friends with Oprah, just another low brow entertainer who is full of herself. Living in Switzerland certainly didn't rub off on her. I think she lived in Germany for a while and got into trouble with city councils because she wanted to make alterations to a heritage listed building she'd bought there but wasn't allowed to do it. Dealing with her apparently wasn't pleasant at all.

by Anonymousreply 24January 19, 2018 11:05 AM

R22 She also said phaggots should die way back in 1986

by Anonymousreply 25January 19, 2018 11:22 AM

Be that as it may R24 and R25, no-one here seems to be disputing the statement that 'Africans are lazy'.

by Anonymousreply 26January 19, 2018 11:46 AM

[quote]She's a dumb bitch

Says Mr. "Apartaid Africa."

Nothing in these quotes makes her sound dumb or even particularly bitchy.

by Anonymousreply 27January 19, 2018 12:08 PM

Oh, hilarious, the OP of this thread also started "Is there any famous Black woman that datalongue dies not hate or ridicule?"

He's working both sides of a lengthy racebait trolling campaign and forgot to clear his cookies to make it seem believable.

by Anonymousreply 28January 19, 2018 12:11 PM

Tina is very smart, she renounced her USA citizen ship and thus freed herself from the satanists who own the Federal reserve and their private collection agency the IRS!

by Anonymousreply 29January 19, 2018 12:12 PM

Unlike Janet, Tina never bankrupted state fairs.

by Anonymousreply 30January 19, 2018 12:17 PM

From a Western perspective where you expect people showing up on time, working from 9 to 5 or so, "Africans", in general, are "lazy". They have no concept of time or anything like that (and that can drive you nuts). It's a total different way of living, a different way of understanding life. In contrast, those Western slaves to time and results are quite strange for Africans, too. I like how grounded Tina seems to be. Why do you want to stone everyone who says something that isn't politically correct, OP?

by Anonymousreply 31January 19, 2018 12:38 PM

[quote] She's lucky she found a niche in music that made her famous. With that limited voice of hers she wouldn't have gone anywhere in black music.

Whaaa?!? The Turners were there from the beginning of rock & roll. No one of my generation didn't have some familiarity with their work, or ever forgot who Tina was. MY GRANDMOTHER loved The Ike & Tina Turner Review-and she was a proper WASP from New England that hated modern popular music for the most part.

Tina was limited? I offer up "River Deep, Mountain High", a song and a production style that was completely unlike anything she'd attempted previously, and made it her own. Any successive covers of that tune are hopeless-no one should even attempt it, IMO. As for her 80s resurgence, I welcomed it, even if the material was a bit too slick. Like most of the rest of 80s music, alas.

As for the Apartheid 'scandal', who fucking cares? "Sun City" was crap from a bunch of decadent, rich, mostly white pop stars/tools. And who was Joan Baez, the big slamhound, to criticize Tina? No one, that's who.

She's brutally honest and that's shocking in today's world where people live constantly offended.

Makes me like her even more

by Anonymousreply 33January 19, 2018 1:24 PM

Dumb bitch. Please die. You've been all over Africa?

by Anonymousreply 34January 19, 2018 1:35 PM

[quote] i understand she’s incredibly and cruelly verbally abusive to hotel staff. so much for “class.”

That is a fucking lie and you know it you piece of shit. I worked night audit at a hotel and got to meet her when she checked in after a concert and she still remains to this day the nicest person I ever met. She made sure to introduce herself to everybody who was working.

You're suck an idiot, there have been no stories about her being abusive to hotel staff or anyone ever.

Shit-stirrer. Die in a grease fire.

by Anonymousreply 35January 19, 2018 2:02 PM

What's race got to with it?

What's DNA but a sweet old-fashioned notion?

Who needs observations when facts can be distorted?

by Anonymousreply 36January 19, 2018 3:13 PM

Tina was quoted from 40 years ago. Things have changed since then and Tina now says that "Africans are the best, most hard working, extraordinary people god ever created."

by Anonymousreply 37January 19, 2018 3:56 PM

River Deep was mostly a great song because -Wall of Sound- production by Spector. Any singer could have sung it and probably better than Tina. She was more like a sensation than a singer.

Of we look at top ten lists of singers she isn't anywhere near the top 20. She abandoned black music for some white washed pop rock. She's lucky she found that niche and a promotion team that kept that image alive for a decade.

by Anonymousreply 38January 19, 2018 7:07 PM

R32 Hopeless? I like Celine's cover.

I've been to Africa and people are very industrious. This Africans are lazy crap is just bullshit.

There isn't a ton of money there or a ton of natural resources, which hold down many countries from fast progress.

China is filling in the gaps

by Anonymousreply 40January 19, 2018 8:18 PM

^ Yes China is cracking the whip now. And I shall be gleefully awaiting the day when the 'lazy Africans' in resenting their new overlords erupt into a new regime of bloody machetes in the night

She's obviously never fucked an African. Those bitches work!

by Anonymousreply 42January 19, 2018 8:38 PM

Tina needs no defending. Context is everything here. Unless you understand her whole life and the incredible scope of her career, don't bother commenting. She rejected much that she came from but it informs much of her music. And not a great singer? Tina and Janis are number one and two on every poll of greatest female rock singers. Tina Turner had success in every genre of music over decades of time. From cotton fields to being the biggest star in the world in the late 1980s was quite a trip. You'll never see her like as an entertainer again. Beyonce has some Tina in her for sure and Bette Midler admits she stole some. Janelle Monae has something. Al Green and Bruno Mars. Jagger and Annie Lennox. They all borrowed from Tina Turner. But they don't have the energy, the elemental force, the pure rock toughness born of the blues or the wailing tones of gutsy soul. And the joy in her body, to be grind it out SEXY, yes Tina is sexy. On Stage. Her offstage personality changed and explored her dreams and she became more refined. Nothing wrong with that. It was her own heritage and past that plagued her. She found as much peace as she could with it. She wasn't seeking revenge. She's a skilled singer and one of the greatest performers the world has ever seen. Context.

by Anonymousreply 44January 19, 2018 8:43 PM

[quote]I've been performing for 44 years; I really should hang up my dancing shoes. I can't keep up with Janet Jackson. I'm not a diva like Diana Ross. I'm rock 'n' roll, but I'm happy I can do it one more time, so people can remember me at my best."

And then with Gloria Reuben and Lisa Fisher backing her, Tina tore up the globe having the most successful tour of anyone in music in 2000 at 61 years old. She turned the mike over to Lisa a few times in these concerts, she's wanted to highlight her incredible voice and respect her place in music. Tina Turner doesn't worry. Her show was all about her and the girls. The band was there to lean against during Private Dancer. The electric life on stage. These women don't sing backup for just anyone. Tina Turner's not racist as the OP implies. What a ridiculous thing to say. But she was told by Berry Gordy that she was too "niggerish" to be at Motown. So that's how things were and how they go. Tina saw enough of the nasty side of music and men for almost 30 years before she was in a position to call the shots. She didn't change who she was, she changed who she associated with.

R45 Tell that to my father, uncles, cousins, and friends dumbass

by Anonymousreply 48January 19, 2018 10:21 PM

R45 People vastly overstate interracial dating. Almost 90% of Black marriages are intra-racial. How can you be gay and racist?

by Anonymousreply 49January 19, 2018 10:23 PM

I see nothing wrong with anything she's said as posted in this thread.

by Anonymousreply 50January 19, 2018 11:05 PM

R49 You say almost 90% of Black marriages are intra-racial. But the statistics say Blacks don't marry.

They say black males have multiple "baby-mommies" and black females have multiple "baby-daddies".

by Anonymousreply 51January 19, 2018 11:51 PM

"Tina Turner: "Africans are lazy""

Tina, bring me the ax!

by Anonymousreply 52January 22, 2018 4:19 AM

"She's a dumb bitch"

What else would you expect from a bunch of Proud Marys: Nice and Rough.

by Anonymousreply 53January 22, 2018 4:24 AM

Is the cunt dead yet?

by Anonymousreply 54October 7, 2020 3:24 AM

She’s blunt and frequently tactless, and on occasion crass. But she’s real. I’d rather be annoyed by someone like her occasionally than have people in my life who are oily cringy accommodating to my face only to stab me in the back.

by Anonymousreply 55October 7, 2020 3:31 AM

R32 really needs to read more than he apparently does - specifically, Joan Baez's memoir "And A Voice To Sing With."

Baez recounted how, after the Live Aid concert, she got onto a chartered bus jammed with celebrities. Turner and her entourage got on board a few minutes later, with Tina sitting in the seat directly in front of Baez without noticing her.

Baez says she leaned forward and threw her arms around Turner. A startled Turner turned around, saw it was Baez and let out an affectionate "Ha!" Baez wrote the two of them then let out a howl of appreciation for the concert and each other.

Sounds like they're pretty chummy to me.

by Anonymousreply 56October 7, 2020 3:41 AM

Spielberg wanted Tina to play Shug Avery in The Color Purple, but she declined saying that she'd worked to "stay away from all that black shit" and she wasn't about to ruin her career by acting in this film. She, instead, went on to star in the illustrious Mad Max, Beyond the Thunderdome.

by Anonymousreply 57October 7, 2020 3:42 AM

[quote] Is the cunt dead yet?

You mean the racist cunt troll slagging off Tina Turner? What a bizarre thread, straight from a Russian troll farm.

by Anonymousreply 58October 7, 2020 3:45 AM

She would have been all wrong for Shug, R57. She was great in Thunderdome; the role suited her perfectly.

by Anonymousreply 59October 7, 2020 3:55 AM

This does seem like an odd things to post out of nowhere. She’s like 90 and hasn’t been in the news forever. And although it’s a shitty thing to say it’s been like forty years. Maybe she’s grown as a person.

by Anonymousreply 60October 7, 2020 4:01 AM

r13, she's Tinahontas.

by Anonymousreply 61October 7, 2020 4:11 AM

She's 77, not 90.

by Anonymousreply 62October 7, 2020 4:13 AM

Moving to Switzerland and hanging out with rich people doesn't give you class, Tina.

by Anonymousreply 63October 7, 2020 4:19 AM

I think it’s interesting to contrast with what we consider appropriate now. I think that’s why OP posted it.

by Anonymousreply 64October 7, 2020 4:20 AM

Tina Turner is 80.

by Anonymousreply 65October 7, 2020 4:33 AM

She's not lucky, R12. She worked her tail off and put up with unspeakable abuse from Ike. Then he tried to take her name when he couldn't slap her around any more. She's way more the person than you'll ever be.

by Anonymousreply 66October 7, 2020 4:51 AM

Where’s my fish sandwich?

by Anonymousreply 67October 7, 2020 6:10 AM

It figures the only black woman you all love hates herself and other black people. And make excuses for her! Her truth, huh......

by Anonymousreply 68October 7, 2020 2:15 PM

She’s bourgeois and self-loathing. It’s partially her, partially her traumas and upbringing.

by Anonymousreply 69October 7, 2020 2:26 PM

HEEEEEEAR fuckin HEEEEEERE @R68

by Anonymousreply 70October 8, 2020 12:10 AM

OP, look at the date on that video. All she had ever known at that time was poverty and a Black man beating her constantly. She was understandably upset at that time. I'd like to put OP in a room for 10 minutes with a coked-up angry Ike so he could experience the situation for himself.
