Threatening government shutdown-
Only racist deplorables would want to deport these people.

What R1 said.

Trump will own the shutdown. Democrats can rightly point to their going to the Oval Office to discuss their bipartisan plan with Republicans. You know, the plan that Trump said he would endorse when something was brought to him. Instead of negotiation, they were met with a raving lunatic who had been stirred up by the odious Stephen Miller. Republicans know this is a losing proposition all around. Democrats should hold tight.
Part of me kind of hopes there is a shutdown so Trump can start his "you don't have to close down the national parks" routine again, just to find out that he's completely wrong.

R1 R2 truly believe that emotional manipulation and juvenile pejorative constitute rational, adult discourse.

Dems don't have the backbone.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 15, 2018 4:08 AM |
These are Americans in everything but name. To be a DACA recipient, you can't have a criminal record, so these are young, productive people who aren't criminals.
It ONLY makes sense for them to stay
by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 15, 2018 4:08 AM |
It's all on Trump, OP, but nice try.
The government is supposed to represent the people. When an ignorant president decides to shut down all discussion by saying the country shouldn't be letting people from "shithole countries" in, that signals that he doesn't want to work with the people or their elected representatives. He can fix this if he wants to, but he doesn't.
Not to mention it's ironic as fuck, considering his grandpa was a German who immigrated to Canada and the US and made his money as a pimp who owned brothels. His family immigrated to the US and has helped make our country the real shithole. Not that he's smart enough to realize it.

Why should Americans care about this issue more than say, the tax cluster fuck, the end of Net Neutrality, the destruction of the EPA, the destruction of food safety, the execrable judicial choices that will set America back by fifty years, the loss of standing in the world, war with North Korea, war with Iran, war with ?, and the hundreds of utterly horrific things that Dump and the GOP have managed to do in the space of one short year?
I'm convinced now that the Dems want to lose 2018.

Right? Of all things to make an issue of right now that could lead to a shutdown, it's DACA? This will be so easy for the GOP to spin in the run up to the election.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | January 15, 2018 4:17 AM |
Yeah yeah yeah, Democrats standing up for what's right are the REAL PROBLEM, not Trump and his bought-and-paid-for Repug cronies.
We heard you once, troll. But keep repeating it, it gets funnier every time.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 15, 2018 4:19 AM |
President Trump is being quite reasonable in his approach to DACA. He's made it clear he wants to do a deal, and he's laid out his terms. The Dems, as usual, are choosing to pursue partisan politics instead of taking care of business. But it will blow up in their faces as most Americans agree with the president on immigration, the exception being the hard-core, far-left base of the Democratic party.

Are you gay, R14? What is it about DataLounge that draws you to this site?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | January 15, 2018 4:22 AM |
No, R10- the shut down will be about DACA, not the 10,000 other things that concern Americans more.
From NY Mag:
[quote]Shutting down the government strictly over an immigration policy dispute might not place Democrats in the best light, given the popularity of “border enforcement” and the relative unpopularity of “amnesty” among many voters Democrats are targeting, particularly in the white working class.

Wow, the Trumpsters are really upset. I guess even they realize how bad this looks for Trumpy.
I mean, he had a really bad week last week, after an entire year of bad weeks. His military is so disorganized they accidentally hit the Armageddon button (and/or it was done as a shitty distraction technique), he was outed as paying a porn star (with a stupid name) $103K so she wouldn't blab that he was fucking her diseased-riddled ass while Melania was pregnant, he was revealed to literally believe only blacks are on welfare, and of course the "shithole" situation.
That doesn't even count the prior weeks with Bannon and that book spilling all kinds of tea that makes Trump look like an incompetent boob and obvious enemy of the state.
But I'm sure your trolling on DL will make it all go away!

Last Thursday my friend "A" had her last day at work. Her DACA paperwork expired and she was let go because of it.
She was brought to this country at the age of three. She has never set foot in Mexico since. She went to our schools, lived in our country and is as American as I am.
She has now lost her ability to make a living. Since the court put a hold on ending DACA last week, she won't be deported, but it will take months for her renewal to be processed and she is unable to work until then.
What scares her most is that by enrolling as a dreamer she gave the authorities her address. If Dolt 45 succeeds in rescinding DACA, she'll be low hanging fruit, so to speak.
On November 9, 2016, I knew that many, many good people in this country were terrified, knowing that they would be made to suffer. I didn't know A back then, but I actually have a heart and brain and enough imagination that I could see what was going to happen. Sorry to say that it's happening and I am truly ashamed of my country.

What does homosexuality have to do with the US government shutting down over immigration policy, R15?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | January 15, 2018 4:24 AM |
Not only is R14 a bigot, he's also retarded. Trump had a deal, a bi-partisan deal, that would have funded his stupid wall and put money toward border security in return for DACA. Instead he went on a rant about Haiti and 'shithole' countries he knows nothing about. Which, stupidly on his part, gives leverage to the Democrats to tell him to go fuck himself. And so when there is a shutdown, the racist in chief will be blamed. Jokes on him. And the fucking moron at R14 who apparently can't read.

Nothing. I'm just curious why certain people choose to post on a gay gossip site when they seem to have so little in common with the users and mission of the site. And I've noticed that most of them refuse to answer the question of whether they are gay and refuse to say what it is about DataLounge that they enjoy.

R14 Dolt 45 is using real, live people as bargaining chips. Obama did right by them and they were saved. The Doltster said he wanted to help them, but he stripped away their protections and instead of helping them is dangling them like a carrot over the Dems to get what he wants. How is that "reasonable"?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | January 15, 2018 4:31 AM |
Some people don't want to be tempted by that prime cock they fear immigrants are wielding.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | January 15, 2018 4:31 AM |
Nice try, R16. Here's the sentence a few lines down that you conveniently leave out.
[quote]But now, inevitably, Trump would at least share the blame, and could get nearly all the blame, for an immigration-triggered shutdown, thanks to his nasty, racist rhetoric and his reckless demolition of a deal with Congress that appeared to be within sight.
Not to mention that the latest polls show about 70% of the country agreeing that DACA participants should stay in the country. Republicans are running scared from this issue because they know it would show them to be heartless to a vast majority of the country, which will not play well in the upcoming elections.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | January 15, 2018 4:32 AM |
Another salient point: Democrats can easily point to Republican control of Congress and the White House. Even the dumb-dumbs in Flyoverville can easily understand that.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | January 15, 2018 1:39 PM |
I'm okay with giving amnesty to everyone who is already here.
I'm against anyone else coming to this country that was not born here and does not have permission to emigrate here. I don't care what age they are and I don't care who brought them. We have enough poor American born citizens we can't take care of. We don't need anymore from other countries
by Anonymous | reply 27 | January 15, 2018 4:31 PM |
If the democrats were smart they would approach this with an amnesty plan. They don't want that. They want to constantly let people just come on in and make themselves at home in America, have as many children as you want (on the U.S taxpayer's dime). This is why 40% of the country will never vote Democrat

This is true. And even though 70% of Americans are on the side of the Dreamers, they won't take kindly to the government shutting down because of them. You can bet if the social security and disability checks don't get sent out not many of those people will still support DACA
People saying they support something isn't the same as them being willing to go without in order to support that something. I think if we have a government shutdown, you will be surprised at the response. And it won't be a pleasant surprise.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | January 15, 2018 4:41 PM |
Why can't the Dems threaten a shutdown for a good reason? Like the seating arrangements on Air Force One?
