Google "hair loss Datalounge"

We've had a thousand threads on this and there are no new products or procedures since the last 400 threads.

R1 Searched 'Hair AND Loss' and NOTHING

by Anonymousreply 2January 10, 2018 8:52 PM

Rubbing pig feces on your scalp is a miracle cure. Hard to find fresh pig feces in the city, however.

by Anonymousreply 3January 10, 2018 8:55 PM

Put this in the Google search bar:

hair loss Datalounge site:www.datalounge.com

by Anonymousreply 4January 10, 2018 8:58 PM

Why does the site's search not work?

by Anonymousreply 5January 10, 2018 8:59 PM

The site's search is great for recent topics. Not so much for older discussions. Use Google in that instance, like R4 showed.

by Anonymousreply 6January 10, 2018 9:09 PM

Immersing it in a tub of human urine preserves strengthens the follicles and decreases shedding. It also adds a lustrous yellow tinge to the hair.

Jay Pharaoh did a radio interview after he got bounced from SNL. He mentioned that he did a laser treatment and said it was very helpful.

by Anonymousreply 8January 10, 2018 9:13 PM

Laser treatment? Do they do skin resurfacing on the scalp now or what?

by Anonymousreply 9January 10, 2018 9:16 PM

apparently wasabi shampoo works

by Anonymousreply 10January 10, 2018 9:20 PM

Embracing natural aging.

by Anonymousreply 11January 10, 2018 9:28 PM

Biotin supplements will make the hair you have left grow faster, thicker and stronger. You will notice this in a few days.

by Anonymousreply 12January 11, 2018 12:55 AM

I think the only thing that truly works well is transplants.

by Anonymousreply 13January 11, 2018 1:01 AM

B-vitamins, MSM, topical caffeine and ceramides should make it stronger and thicker but they can't regrow the hair you've already lost. You need Minoxidil or a transplant for that.

Speaking of hair loss, I saw a picture of Trump(when he was wearing the ball cap)and it was obvious how thin his hair was. He'd taken the hat for a moment and someone took a picture and it looked like plugs or a weave to me. It's not just a combover and scalp reduction.

by Anonymousreply 15January 11, 2018 1:24 AM

Hair transplants work, but they have limited applications in hair loss because of the trade off between achieving density and achieving coverage. So the procedure works but only when there's limited bald area to cover.

What's more, there are few surgeons who are both competent in the discipline and ethical enough to refuse the percentage of cases they should, which is probably more than of 80% of cases, based on these limiting factors.

If you look online at results, you will mostly see the best outcomes of the ~20% who are good candidates for the procedure.

by Anonymousreply 16January 11, 2018 1:41 AM

Look at Matthew McConaughey, Jeremy Piven and Steve Carell. All transplants. All look great.

by Anonymousreply 17January 11, 2018 1:45 AM

But they'll need touchups periodically, until they need wigs.

by Anonymousreply 18January 11, 2018 1:49 AM

Interesting. I didn't realize that they would need touchups. I wonder if they have to take Propecia and/or Rogaine?

by Anonymousreply 19January 11, 2018 1:52 AM

McConaughey wears a skull cap weave with transplants at the front.

by Anonymousreply 20January 11, 2018 1:55 AM

Only one of those three have had hair transplant surgery, r17. Here's what he looks like.

McConaughey's hairline is Hollywood magic, not hair transplants.

I've read that if you go to a skilled surgeon who knows what he's doing the results today can be very impressive.

by Anonymousreply 22January 11, 2018 2:02 AM

Yes, r22, but with the caveat that the procedure his limitations in the amount of balding area it can cover. See my post at r17.

by Anonymousreply 23January 11, 2018 2:07 AM

The simple fact is that the only thing that will keep you from losing more hair is propecia.

by Anonymousreply 24January 11, 2018 2:09 AM

And FYI; any hair transplant doctor worth his salt will also prescribe propecia.

by Anonymousreply 25January 11, 2018 2:10 AM

DL search never works right, thus the repetitive threads.

by Anonymousreply 26January 11, 2018 2:28 AM

Finasteride helped filling in my crown after I noticed it was starting to thin. I also do Minoxidil, biotin, Viviscal, saw palmetto pills. Doesn't work on the front.

by Anonymousreply 27January 11, 2018 2:37 AM

Ketoconazole 2% shampoo (prescription strength Nizoral) has been shown to work as well as minoxidil (Rogain) and it doesn't have to be used daily. And less messy.

OTC Nizoral (1% ketoconazole) may work as well. It showed great results when used with finasteride (Propecia) or dutasteride (Avodart).

Can't even spell his name right, so not credible.

by Anonymousreply 31January 11, 2018 6:42 AM

The short answer, OP, is no. There are scams, scalp reductions, transplants, camouflage agents, weaves, and hairpieces.

I read the possible side-effects of Minoxidol, so no Rogaine for me.

by Anonymousreply 32January 11, 2018 10:44 AM

r27, it really depends on when you started losing hair. The drug is meant to sustain what you have, not necessarily provide regrowth. That is why many don't see a huge amount of success in the front.

by Anonymousreply 33January 11, 2018 11:43 AM

I had a hair transplant four years ago. I currently take Finisteride and then use Nioxin shampoo/conditioner every day. I'm mid 40's and I'm still pleased with the results.

by Anonymousreply 34January 11, 2018 11:56 AM

One recommendation - have genes that promote hair growth. Being Italian American helped in my case. I'm in my 50's and still have a full head of hair.

by Anonymousreply 35January 11, 2018 12:25 PM

I had bad reactions to both Minoxidil and propecia.

Minoxidil dried my scalp and caused issues.

I had all sorts of erectile issues with propecia. Fortunately, once I stopped it, everything went back to proper working order. I’d rather grow old gracefully with junk that works than have a full head of hair with a limp dick.

by Anonymousreply 36January 11, 2018 12:36 PM

Finasteride. And I still get hardons.

Minoxidil for added insurance.

by Anonymousreply 37January 11, 2018 1:27 PM

OP, check this out. Women swear by this.

R35, watch out when you hit 60.

by Anonymousreply 39January 11, 2018 7:57 PM

I use minoxidil.

I tried propecia but it made my hard-ons feel weird (lost alot of sensation, which allowed me to last longer but it all felt weird) and friends say it changed my personality to be angrier.

So I stopped the pill

by Anonymousreply 40January 11, 2018 8:22 PM

R35 actually being Italian can be a bad thing. Southern Italians seem to be more prone to baldness than other ethnicties. Especially the women as well. Strange to see Southern Italian women with their bald patches.

Cut your hair short and try to adopt a "Daddy" attitude.

If you're a Mary, then there is no hope.
