Kids are under major stress when applying to colleges, now. I mean, I do remember that the 8th grade and up was all about AP classes, getting excellent grades consistently in order to qualify for a good school, and of course, the dreaded SATs, but I don’t recall having major stomach problems as a result. What I do remember is having to make choices that I really hated making. Choices like: either spend the night at Katie’s house, or stay home and study for tomorrow’s test.

I grew up in a pretty affluent neighborhood, just like Blaze. We were all expected to have a college track. But college isn’t for everyone. My younger brother didn’t want to go, & he was pretty much forced into it. It took him six years to get his bachelor’s, and then he realized that he had to get his master’s in order to compete. He’s miserable, and I completely understand.

He was trying to be compassionate, and show Sam that he was supportive of him as a friend, preferably from a distance.

What fucks with me when I read the available details about this story-is that Blaze walked out of his home without his wallet, money, credit cards, identification, glasses, medication, and keys. He was just holding his phone. That tells me that Sam had convinced Blaze to walk out to the car, get in the car, just to “talk”. Blaze probably thought that they were just going to sit in the car, parked down the street, or close by, and talk.

I think that by the time that they parked at Hobby Lobby, Blaze knew it was a big mistake, and by the time they got to the park, Blaze knew he was in mortal danger.

I think Blaze tried to negotiate his way out of the situation, like most victims do, and unfortunately, it wasn’t working.

I think that Sam had made up his mind that if he couldn’t have Blaze, no one would. I think that there’s a big possibility that Sam experienced domestic violence in his household. Pretty likely. This was the way Sam dealt with conflict.

By the time Sam realized that Blaze didn’t love him, and actually pitied him, and viewed him as a fucking weirdo who was still a psycho, Sam decided that this was it. Blaze was going to die.

Sam killed Blaze because in Sam’s fucked up little head, Blaze was his only hope. Once he knew that was over, he gave up on Blaze, and he gave up on himself.

Funeral service honors murdered OC student Blaze Bernstein

IRVINE, Calif. (KABC) -- A private funeral service was held Monday to honor Blaze Bernstein, the Orange County college student who was found dead in a Lake Forest park.

Family members and friends remembered Bernstein as a talented writer and a passionate chef, as well as a selfless volunteer.

Attendees were given spatulas with the last recipe he put together in the kitchen to celebrate his creativity in the kitchen.

The Bernstein family is asking the public to do good deeds in Blaze's name.

According to people who knew and went to school with Sam, Sam was an Aspie.

I’m assuming that he already had all of this prepared for several reasons: Blaze was presumably picked up by Sam on a Sunday or Monday night. He was murdered and placed in a shallow grave the same evening that he disappeared, according to police. That was a holiday weekend. Car rental companies usually do not rent out cars on a holiday weekend, unless you drive out to an airport to do so. I’m speaking from personal experience, being that I have traveled and rented cars all over the US.

The only reason why Sam needed to rent a car was to not use his. He wasn’t traveling in a different state, where he arrived at an airport, needing a vehicle after landing. He had a shovel, sleeping bags, a tent, blankets, plastic bags in the trunk of the rental.

All of that said, it’s pretty easy to conclude that Sam had planned all of this out. This was not a spur of the moment thing. For whatever reasons, Sam decided to leave Blaze’s body in a shallow grave in the park. I don’t think that was meant to be Blaze’s final destination.

Sam panicked after he realized what he had actually done. He became immobilized and frozen with fear. He was working against time, and by the time he had calmed down enough to go back to Blaze’s body in order to move him or even bury him deeper into the ground, police were aware of his and Blaze’s exchanges via SnapChat.

Being an attorney must suck balls for some. Out of all of the professions out there, I personally know 2 men and 4 women who went to law school, worked for a few years, and said fuck this. You pretty much have to work for a huge firm in order to pay back your student loans, and these places just eat up your entire life. People live there. The burnout is high, and very real. I wonder if that’s what happened with Blaze’s mom?
