CMBYN Haters: Were You As Bothered By QAF?
Both UK and US versions of the show had much larger age gaps and the actors were also much further apart in age.
And the sex was far more explicit.
And in the UK version, the younger partner was below the age of consent.
Were you as angry about that show when it was on? Did you condemn it just as harshly?
Or did the fact that the US version because a Fat Frau Fingerbanging Fetish Fantasy make it less objectionable for you?

Yes, I was offended by both the title and the implications of pederasty. And the show just looked like it wasn't very well-written or acted.

[quote] OP, why can't you spell out your acronyms first, you lazy twat.
Because making fat lazy Brits think helps prevent senility and I'm an inveterate do-gooder, R4
Next wek you get tougher acronyms and you get to compare "Darkest Hour" with your own memories of London during the war.

Now that the Armie Is Too Old Army is online, time to resurface this.

No. QAF was 18 years ago. Then I wasn't familiar with pederasty, it fetishization, or the ruinous effect it has had on gay men of all ages. CMBYN is unwatchable because the younger guy is too young-looking and Armie looks his actual age.

But had you been aware of it 10 years ago, would have have been more or less or equally upset?

Yes, I was bothered that "Sunshine" having sex with strangers in bathrooms was treated as normal and the characters chastising his mother for daring to say her son was too young to be going into bars and falling into a one-sided romance with a man in his thirties.

Just started watching the US version. Justin just turned 18 but the power dynamic could never be part of a show now or am I missing something. Also it seems like most of the lead actors identify as straight which is really annoying

You've got to start sometime going out and hooking up with strangers. Does no good to wait until the bloom is off your rose.
