Posey's statement is interesting in its implications, but rather vague and tangential. How does he see himself within the context of what he is saying? Is this a confession or an accusation, or both? How does he see the function of fan adulation as a real problem in an industry that to a greater or lesser extent is supported by fans, a portion of them who are truly fanatics.

Posey is right that celebrities are no better or different than anyone else, just usually richer because of some of the very same people they are not better than. Most people realize this, but there apparently will always be a contingent who are enthralled by celebrity and who will elevate them as paragons of perfection regardless of what anyone including Posey will tell them. This seems to be a form of obsessive compulsive behavior that flies under the mental health radar similar to religious obsessions.

Posey is also a minor enough celebrity that he still seems grounded. He hasn't yet been transformed by wealth and the" star making machinery" into believing his own PR hype, a situation that seems to come to pass as one ascends the ladder of fame. If he does make that climb to Brad Pitt/Matt Damon levels, which seems unlikely, may he stay as grounded as he seems to be now.
