Famous Shrimps
Starting with Brent Collins, who played Dr. Jonathan Newman on The Golden Girls and Wallingford on Another World.
From Wiki:
[quote]A dwarf, Collins was also diagnosed with Marfan syndrome, which traditionally causes its sufferers to grow larger than normal in size. Late in 1987, Collins grew rapidly from his short stature,[1] which led to his fatal heart attack. This situation is very rare, and very few cases have been documented in medical records.

Warwick Davis of Willow fame, and other movies that have midgets like Narnia and Harry Potter.
I vaguely recall him in an episode of Idiot Abroad and they were making him the butt of a few jokes, which he didn't appreciate, poor guy. Does anyone remember this? I forget the details.

Peter Dinklage
What a terrible last name for a dwarf. Growing up I'm sure he was called "Peter Dinky" by the other kids.

No, we don't. I've seen a few porn scenes starring little people. Believe me, it is NOT erotic.

I'm sure people remember him. They're showing reruns of WWW on MeTv, so millions of viewers see him. And he was on a memorable Star Trek episode "Plato's Stepchildren" and those Trekkies never forget anybody in those shows.

He's wasn't a dwarf at 5'3 but Mickey Rooney was probably considered a "shrimp." He may have been the most famous one of all.

Judy Garland, at 4'11, was quite a shrimp. An odd looking one, too. She had a weird build; no neck, barrel chest, long legs. Her legs were her best body feature but they looked like they belonged on someone else's body.

r9 If they were making fun of him I am sure he was in on it. He had a great show on HBO called "Life's Too Short" where he played himself and it was hilarious. You should check it out if you haven't seen it. Gervais, Merchant, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, even Sting are all on it. I was sad it wasn't renewed.

Female gymnasts are practically all teeny tiny. All that extensive gymnastics training from such a young age stunts their growth. A female gymnast who is 5'0 is considered tall.

That whole story that Brent Collins, after living his ENTIRE life as a little person, suddenly started growing at age FORTY-SIX is just bull. It doesn't happen. There's no way he could've had Marfan syndrome. According to the link on his Wiki page, Marfan syndrome patients "tend to be tall and thin, with long arms, legs, fingers, and toes."
Someone claiming to be his good friend posted this at the link in 2012: "I was a personal friend of Brent, and the last time I had dinner with him was in the October, the 3 months before he died. He never mentioned anything, and he looked no different to me than he always did."
I'm thinking maybe he had sex with someone w/Marfan Syndrome, and the guy was just TOO BIG.

You bumped a 3 year old thread to make a tasteless joke about a man's death, r60?
Brent Collins definitely had Marfan syndrome. From your own link, just above the letter you quote:
[quote]If you know what you’re looking at, you can tell that his arms and fingers were very Marfanoid in proportion to his body, and relative to the normal proportions of a dwarf. - GodsGadfly
That's an accurate observation. When they said he "grew rapidly from his short stature", they meant it. Brent gained roughly 6 inches of height in less than 3 months. He suffered a lot in that brief time before dying of a heart attack. He didn't know it was going to happen, none of his doctors knew what triggered the sudden growth, nor how to halt it. It was an awful way for that kind gentleman to go.
You can see what GodsGadfly is talking about in this clip:
