OK so now Forbes magazine is telling us how everyone’s fleeing the Northeast and moving to Denver and the Northwest. Magazines do a great job at marketing the next Shangri-La
Is Denver overrated?

Yes. So is Portland.

I'm trying to remember were it was that I recently read an article stating that people were leaving Denver in droves.

Those were illegals

It’s a blech city Especially for gays City itself is ugly and sketchy - filled with homeless kids from across ten country Bedraggled drugged out Only nice thing is the Rocky Mountains and hour away But I’d rather visit once in a while I would never live there as a gay man So many other better places

Best things about it are 1) proximity to the Rockies, 2) legal weed, and 3) the Clyfford Still museum.

"More Coloradans moving out as population growth brings traffic headaches, higher home prices"

r4 doesn't know what a period is.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 3, 2018 3:44 PM |
It’s a land of hipsters, a paradise for anyone who likes to visit steampunk-decorated microbreweries and bicycle. The gays are mostly clean cut and litterally everyone is in shape.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 3, 2018 3:52 PM |
It's a nice place to visit, but yes, lots of hipsters and there are homeless everywhere. The public library, the park, and the main downtown drag--16th Ave--filled with homeless people, but they do seem to care about their homeless population a bit more than some cities. They do have a nice free transport up and down 16th, that made it nice to jump on and off. I did hear the week after I was there that someone was killed by a homeless person on it.
Also, pot is legal and you can get pot gummy bears readily.

Denver seems to make a comeback every 20 years. A lot of my high school classmates moved there, as well as a relative--almost everyone eventually went back to Ohio. The wages were low and the coast of living was high, with a n economy that has a lot of bust and boom because of relying on resource extraction. It's surrounded by places that have few people wo it has limited potential to be a hub for distribution, localized manufacturing, etc., and the mountain towns have gotten very expensive---long-term it's not a very sustainable place for for absorbing new people.
Portland has similar problems--I've known people with marketable skills who've gone there and been unable to find work--the problem is that it's white color people skills they bring and Portland already has plenty, while there are only so many coffee bars you can open even there.

I always thought Bob was horribly overrated, it should've been Ginger's Island

It's a shame that Blaisdel woman burned down Denver's La Mirage, a beautiful resort which featured the El Matador Bar and tennis instructors with thighs of steel.

I was there a few months ago, with a very quick turn-around for a job interview. I got a really good vibe off the place, although it may have been a contact high and/or oxygen deprivation.
Parts of it reminded me a lot of Brooklyn, which is a good or bad thing depending on your perspective.

It's thanks largely to Denver that Colorado is blue.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 11, 2018 6:38 AM |
It's hard to breathe there at first, right?
I was thinking of vising with my regular escort and having threesomes with guys on Grindr.

Only overpopulated and rising housing costs. Roads not built or ready for the tremendous influx of traffic in the last few years. I am considering moving out. I don't smoke pot anyway.

Is Colorado solidly blue? If not I'm up for moving there.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 11, 2018 6:52 AM |
I prefer Boulder or Fort Collins, personally.

Is it the flyover capital?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | April 11, 2018 2:37 PM |
OMG. YES! Denver is extremely overrated. People who live there love it because they are geographically isolated and don't know any better. P.S. I'd take water over mountains any day.

Moved here 2 yrs ago. So far so good. Lots of jobs. Every state has its good points and bad points.
Robust gay community. Lots of hipster, but people are tolerant and for the most part polite and nice. Mountains are beautiful. Lots of mountain towns to explore (Nederlands, Breckinridge, etc). Boulder is gorgeous but ridulously expensive (think highest priced town in Westchester, NY)
Traffic is crazy bad and housing prices are rising rapidly.

Because of the legalized marijuana Colorado has become a hotbed to move too. Yes it’s causing lifelong locals to move away. But it’s creating a more diverse and interesting culture. It’s beautiful and a lot of fun. Allergies and asthma are the only major douwnside of living there according to a friend of mine that’s an allergist.

Lived here for over 20 years but I'm starting to feel it's time to move on to a less populated, smaller town. Still love Colorado but Denver is becoming a cesspool of illegals, druggies and potheads. Denver is a "sanctuary city" which explains the illegals. Traffic congestion is the norm. The city and the roads weren't prepared for the tremendous influx of people moving here, especially since pot became legal a few years ago.l. Housing costs are outrageous now. Crime rate isn't anything to brag about, either. So if you still wanna move here, come on over!

Matt Dallas and His husband and son live in Denver. After selling their first marital home in Phoenix (Matt's hometown) they moved to L.A for a few months and then relocated to Denver (hubby Blue Hamilton's hometown) 8 months ago. I love their vlogs.

A few years back I remember reading that Colorado has the lowest rate of obesity in the US. That's pretty consistent with what people have mentioned in earlier posts.
