Apparently he is/was a republican, at least at the time of that Advocate article...Praising Bush yuck!

The tabloids did report that he was fired and that Alfonso did play a role in his firing because she refused to kiss him and nixed storyline ideas involving her and Griggs. Griggs of course denied that, but he could've just said that not to risk losing future mainstream work. His character was well received by fans, so it was odd his character was abruptly axed from the show after his gay porn past came to light he did gay porn. Days did bring him back briefly as another character years later.

As for the allegations that Alfonso (well known as a bitch) refused to kiss him because he did gay porn, it was well known by that time that there is next to no chance to catch HIV by kissing. And of course Griggs might have not even been HIV positive to begin with so it was true, it was a bigoted view she had.

On a related note, former porn star turned mainstream actress Ginger Lynn Allen said that Mark Hamill refused to kiss on her during the filming of one of the Wing Commander installments unless she had an HIV test first.
