Corbin Fisher, Sean Cody and Other "Straight College Guy" Sites
Are they sort of like Fagin's gang in Oliver Twist, where they find naive but buff guys from small towns, lure them in for a jerk off video and then pressure them to step up their "education" by having them hang out with more experienced models like Dawson who can show them the cars they've bought and how they can still get lots of pussy even though they're gay porn stars, talking up how it actually feels good, that a mouth is a mouth, and downplaying to degree to which their photos and videos are splayed all over the internet.
Corbin Fisher in particular seems to go that route-- jerk off scene, sex with a woman, a bi scene, a blow job from a guy, etc.
Are they putting lots of pressure on these guys and giving them the full court press to get them to stay on and do more?
Or are they mostly a bunch of exhibitionist whores with drug/alcohol/gambling problems who'll do anything for cash and no pressure is necessary?
Talking the higher end studios, not the TimTales and Fraternity X and all that.

Some guys need money and have low self esteem believing they don't get a good job or have any chance for a longterm career so they might make the best of their current good looks and do some porn for some cash.

Don't fall into that weird DL trap of basement dwellers finding something to pick on about guys who are 9s and 10s.

I've never really given his sexuality much thought R12
He's married to a female porn star IIRC and had a kid with her.
I think sexuality is a lot more gray than many DLers do. The whole Kinsey scale and all that plus it's often situational.

by Anonymous | reply 14 | December 30, 2017 4:56 PM

The problem on DL R14 is that there are so many different definitions of what "bisexual" means
For many DLers anyone who is not a Gold Star Gay is bisexual
While others pick up on the whole "suck one dick and you're gay forever" trope and don't "believe" in bisexuals.
Then there are others who claim that any straight guy who experiments must be "bi." And that experimenting can be a horny 18 year old letting a friend blow him. (Which to some DLers will be proof that the guy is 100% gay.)
Like I said it's all shades of gray and frequently situational and I wish we'd be less black and white about it.

I read an interview with a gay for pay porn actor in Esquire, I think, a number of years ago. He was handsome and very muscular. He did not give his name, not did they have any face pics in the article, so I don't know who the actor was. He said he was recruited at a gym, paid absurd money for a posing video, and then his agent started getting him very lucrative private strip party shows, for women. The guy started enjoying the extra money and the attention. He bought a condo -- he lived with his dad, which i thought was sweet -- and bought an expensive sports car, etc, thinking that the "straight" gigs would keep coming. After he had gone in debt, his promotor pulled the plug on the gigs. The actor started asking for more gigs, because he needed the money at that point, so...the promotor started offering him a strip night at a gay club here, a solo gay porn video there, etc. Pretty soon, he just realized he had to go gay for pay to make his bills. I remember reading that the very first time he bottomed was in a video for Ken Ryker, and he was so ashamed that he left porn. But that's how you do it: you shower the straight guy with money and attention, and they get used to it. You pull the plug, and they will do pretty much anything to get it back. I think it's incredibly sad, and one of the reasons I can't watch porn.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 30, 2017 5:51 PM

R24, I read that article years ago. That actor did a number of gay porn films. It was interesting that he was shamed only when he had to bottom for Ryker in a "bi" movie and a girl was in the scene with him. The guys that do it tend to suggest that they were suckered into it but we now know most of them are narcissistic exhibitionists who have criminal records and cannot get better-paying jobs.

IIRC, CF's Dawson was already into 'fitness' and was making money doing online webcam shows before he was recruited by Corbin Fisher. Quentin Gainz (not working for any of these studios), was a skinny little guy who took up weight-lifting, and his old MySpace photos show him actively posting 'progress' photos as he was trying to beef up. We've talked about the current selfie generation, but people are already putting their sexiest photos out there, online, trying to drum up interest. When people are asked if they'd like to be flown out to San Diego and put up in a hotel, in additional to getting paid various rates for different scenes, I think it can be very gratifying to get that kind of attention.

[quote]on't know how much of that is MindGeek,
MindGeek owns and runs a lot of tube sites where the clips of competing (gay) porn sites are available for free and it's not that fast to take off those clips that violate copyrights. Of course that changes as soon the site aquired a competing porn site. Then the clips of said site get deleted rather quickly.

I think their escorting fees go up? Like with music stars of today. The days of Michael Jackson getting $4 per album/CD press are no longer. The had to adapt to pirating and music streaming. The news ways of making money are concerts. Really, Taylor Swift is worth $300 for good seats? My daughter paid $700 for 2 tickets to the Fleetwood Mac all 4 present tour. Then there's posters, t-shirts jackets etc. Then the revenue they get from the streaming music providers (iHeartRadio, Google music, iTunes, etc). Porn Stars make their money escorting, fan signings (no longer $5, but some$50 or more). Appearances from clubs that pay them to be there to generate buzz, or stripping, performing. And they don't forget their products to sell... Dildos made in their images, vaginas etc. The successful ones own their market. Providing sex videos is just one part of their branding. They can make a healthy living, if they don't snort it up their noses. Unfortunately, it's a hard knock life.

r35, music artists make a lot of money on the side with those meet & greet events after the music gig. Fans hand over a lot of cash for a quick encounter with their idol.
I imagine it's the same with porn stars where fans want to meet their idol who is such an amazing performer in their eyes.

I hooked up with one of CF current models, but only has a few videos. He identifies as straight, is married, and has a few kids. I asked him how he got into the videos. He lives in the deep rural country and was having trouble earning a living. He is a competitive bodybuilder, and someone told him that he could make money escorting by adverting on Back Pages. (I had never heard of Back Pages until he told me this story.) He said he would only meet very few people, but one of his tricks asked if he could send a photo of him to CF, and he did. They liked what they saw, then flew him to California for a "screen test." He said he was reluctant at first, but they treated him so well, and put him up at a great hotel, etc, that he ultimately gave in. He now flies out there a few times a year to shoot a new video, then goes back home where he can get more money escorting because he's known.
I have a friend who can get molly, which is how we connected. I wanted to hook with him in exchange for the drugs, and he was amenable to that. It didn't last long. I could tell that he had no spontaneity when it comes to having sex with men, and was only doing it because I had something he wanted. I can see how he would be ok if he were directed off-camera by someone, but there was obviously no joy in his having sex with men. Once I realized that, I just let him have the molly and told him he could go. He tried to keep the action going out of some professional obligation, but I wasn't interested. So...I do believe some of these guys are straight. They might get used to sucking a man's cock or getting blown or fucking a guy, but they're doing it for money and attention. A bad analogy: I'm a vegetarian, but if someone flew me to SFO and offered to pay me a thousand dollars to eat salmon once, hell, yeah, I would do it. I would hate it, I would probably get sick, but I would still consider myself to be a vegetarian. We all do things outside the realm of how we define ourselves out of greed or necessity, but it doesn't mean we are not still what we are. Ergo, a straight guy could get blown for money out of desperation and need, but it does not make him less straight if that is how he chooses to identify himself, and if the activity is strictly for profit.

r39, Markie More retired for like a month and then came back proclaiming that he was coming out as actually having some attraction to men and that he would donate a portion of his scene rate to LGBT charities or some such. I have no idea if the donations ever took place. I thought that was so strange, why would a man who has been doing gay porn for years make some big announcement that he is coming out as having some attraction to men? He never 'labeled' himself but he said he was into everything: men/women/trans. Anyway, yes, apparently he has a wife/girlfriend and a kid.

R41, R52, I think "Markie" was more experienced, and "Quentin" was just doing his initial exploring. But I've seen some of "Quentin's" social media (he's deleted a bunch of it) and he certainly seemed to have plenty of photos with a girlfriend. He actually grew up a couple of counties away from me, although I don't know if he still lives there (I think he does). Please don't ask me his name, since I've actually seen his MySpace (deleted now, I think) from when he was a skinny teenager.
R55, I agree with you. I think he's pushed passed some of his boundaries, though. In one scene, he was the one breaking in a new guy, and he tells him, "I hope you're a freak like me".
I've mentioned this on some other thread, but when I was living downtown, on Friday and Saturday nights, I'd see cars dropping off young guys, who'd then walk the streets getting picked up. Then hours later, the same cars that dropped them off would return to pick the guys up. They were always driven by women. So I think the male hustler/female pimp explains a lot of the G4P stuff we see.
R42, I think Sean Cody shoots their scenes in San Diego. Corbin Fisher is now based in Las Vegas, but started out in Kansas City, then on to Tampa, before finally moving to Vegas.

R59, I think he's gotten more experienced, and I think the right partner can bring a bit more out of him. But I've found most of his scenes pretty formulaic. I think his scenes for Next Door Studios work better, because there's a bit of acting involved, so I think a director is helping him stay in character. With Active Duty, the performers have to bring their own personalities forward, and that doesn't happen too often. Quentin had a scene with Derrick Dime for Next Door Studios which was pretty hot, where it's supposed to be Quentin seducing his brother-in-law.

Interesting R63
Nixon falls into the category of guys you wonder what lead them to porn.
He's well-spoken in his interviews, has no visible tattoos, the sort of guy you could easily see in some sort of corporate sales job or as a waiter in a high end restaurant.
Nixon was very good looking too, much more traditionally handsome that most of SC's recent models.
I've often wondered what his real deal was but not enough to actually investigate.

I think it's pretty much how you described for a lot of them, OP. There has to be some coercion that goes on for a large portion of them. Maybe some bait and switch too. When they are flown out they think it's for straight porn and then are pressured to do gay porn. Some of these guys have got to be naive and from bumfuck USA who think $3000-4000 is a fortune. I can see straight men doing it if they are really desperate like they have kids, a sick/disabled relative or are druggies. What I don't get is the college students that do it. Obviously they want to eventually have a traditional profession/life, so why risk it by doing porn that will never die? I also don't get wives/gfs being ok with it. How bizarre.
I have a question... do these guys work other jobs or is porn their only source of income?

What's scary R88 is he must be close to 40 by now. Those early videos were from 2001, 2002.
Ever since I saw what Billy Brandt wound up looking like, I've not wanted to see how porn stars turned out.

What studio do you think of does that?
I don't believe that. Most studios have a tight schedule and they don't have the time to coddle some newbie freaking out about gay sex to the point he might draw unwanted attention to the business. Most studios fly in newbies to do a solo. That's it. And when the studio thinks they've got a guy the audience likes to see more of they give the guy the option to do further business with them if he's ok with that and discuss further details (money, and what he is expected to do for it, and filming schedules) and it's up to the model if he wants to take advantage of the studio's offer and come back for more.

R87-- I think they now they are going to do a jerk off video and maybe they're told the site is for gay men and women. I also think most all of them have a strong exhibitionist streak.
As for what else they do, I suspect it's a mix: some make porn their living, supplementing films with stripping and gay club appearances and of course, escorting.
For others, it's a quick 10K for a few films and they go back to their normal lives. But I too am baffled by how some of them, like one mentioned above who appears to have a girlfriend and is in college and the National Guard (e.g. free college tuition) justify it-- there's a huge difference in perception between guys who do a single jerk off video and those who go on to do everything including bottoming. For many it may also be a way to explore a side of themselves by pretending it's all about money.
I think most of them don't realize that, like they guy Dylan in R87, people will be watching their films and talking about them 15-20 years down the road.

It's pretty easy to google Sean's (SC) real name. Ben was in MTV's "True Life" documentary series about being a straight guy in gay porn. But fair warning if you've never seen it - watching it will possibly make you not want to watch his scenes again.

Regardless of how many takes are actually required to put these scenes together, a lot of these ostensibly straight guys are cumming while getting fucked. Given how intense that sort of orgasm is, that's got to play with their heads.
Although compartmentalization...

Anyway, there's no way Sean is 100% straight. He admitted to have gay experiences in real life. 3 gay experiences and 1 bi experience. I guess him joining Sean Cody is just to satisfy his thirst for men. I honestly believe he watches SC even prior to his audition.

After watching gay porn for many years, I'm still fascinated how guys (gay, straight, or otherwise) are talked into, or agree without hesitation, the offer to make a commercial gay porn film. I've done a couple of short videos, for personal pleasure, with a few of my fuck buddies. Some we erase after we had a chance to watch ourselves, and a couple of others, I've kept for review later. For me, the more amature the better. Though, surprisingly, my favorite is Payne and Kumar - there is something about those two that is fun to watch.

A friend made 3 videos for Sean Cody 4 years ago, 1 solo and 2 with other guys. $10K for the 2 weeks he was out there. All the models are given Viagra prior to recording. The majority of the models are straight and when they lose their erections, recording is halted while they're hustled into a room to watch straight porn.
by Anonymous | reply 111 | January 2, 2018 11:42 AM

What's interesting is that you can often tell when a model lets go of his inhibitions and gets into it. Some/most of them look like they can't wait for it to be over, but there are some-- "King" Brandon being a prime example, at least in his early videos-- who really get into the scene and seem to connect with their partner.
Most of them rarely/never make eye contact, so even something as basic as that adds to the sense that the guys are into it and you wonder why they're not directed to do that more often.
Then there's kissing, which is the one "innovation" that Corbin Fisher added-- they had their guys kiss early on (SC quickly followed suit). For some reason this was a huge taboo for G4Pers, and even now when they can get the guys to actually use their tongues it makes the videos that much hotter.

If you think about it. Let's say there are 50 million in the US that are hot enough with big enough dicks to do gay porn. Now you got say 3% of those 20 million are gay or bi. That's like 600000 gay men who are hot enough to do gay porn. Then you've got to ask, how many are willing to do gay porn. Let's say it's five percent. That's like 30000 men maybe. Now if you have like .1 percent of straight men who would get fucked on camera. That's like 47000 men maybe who are straight and hot and would be willing to do gay porn. Therefor you would have a bigger pool of straight men who would do gay porn then gay men even tho they straight men were way less likely to do gay porn than gay men.

I suspect your scenario is not that far off OP, that when they get someone hot who can perform, there's something of a full court press on them to get them to stick around.
I've always thought the point of no return for the G4P guys was when they came with another guy's dick inside them.
The orgasm that produces is so intense and frequently so sudden, they probably can't forget it.

I remember "Dick Dorm" always had a bunch of guys who never participated, just watched, as the "Frat brothers"... including one scene in a huge dining hall with probably 30 or 50 guys sitting at tables, while half a dozen 'pledges' got naked, sucked each other off, and fucked each other while the other guys were chanting.
All seemingly college age.
I've always wondered what the hell was up with all those "extras", how they got into that, what they really thought about being a non-sexual extra in a gay porn scene that would be on the internet forever. How were they cast? How much were they paid?
Anyone remember the scene I'm talking about?

Clearly you are are not able to grasp the concept of people being passionate about a product, or service, that they are willing to pay for it even when they could get a knock off, for a cheaper price, or can get it for free.
It's those people that keep the lights on at sites like SC, CF, Men.com and produce and release stuff the (real?) fans are willing to pay for.

There was a deleted thread last week about a Sean Cody model named J ess.
He seemed to come from a solid family, went to private high school, was still in touch with his parents in the midst of his porn career (which has been going on for 7 years now it seems) and has a long-term girlfriend.
So I'm left wondering why he turned to porn
Gay porn does not pay much, nothing ever leaves the internet, DL posters can easily doxx you... I think it would make a fascinating documentary as to what gets these ostensibly hetero guys to do gay porn. (I'm talking the unlikely ones, the ones who aren't trying to pay off a drug or gambling debt or who have no family to support them.)
There have been episodes of daytime TV shows but they went for the sensationalist angle. I'm talking a talented investigative journalist.
Just something that fascinates me, possibly a few others on DL too.
