So We Still Don’t Know The Motive Behind The Las Vegas Shooting?

Really? Wow.

by Anonymousreply 43June 23, 2018 6:56 AM

NBC, ABC, and CBS agree.

There is a definitely a sense that who this guy was and his motive were swept under the carpet. This has never happened before with mass killings.

by Anonymousreply 3December 5, 2017 1:22 AM

I asked a friend who deals with criminal behaviour what he thought the motive was and he thinks the shooters thinking was probably along the lines of. "Even guys who look like me, who as wealthy as I am, who aren't right wing voters can take a gun and shoot shit up. You never saw me coming, I bought guns for years and you never looked in my direction. I am the real enemy and I'm coming at you from within"

My friend thinks it's why he shot at the group he did. The irony being these are the kind of people who are pro NRA. The point being "how do you like the second amendment now"

by Anonymousreply 4December 5, 2017 1:38 AM

Do you think the Fecal Footware skank was somehow involved?

by Anonymousreply 5December 5, 2017 1:42 AM

I think I heard Tucker Carlson is investigating this and will be doing his show from Las Vegas some time soon. I know its Fox News but he's been pretty good on this topic.

by Anonymousreply 6December 5, 2017 2:07 AM

Great minds think alike. This shooting was gone before the Texas Church one, which was gone even faster....

by Anonymousreply 7December 5, 2017 5:29 PM

I assumed it was because he loathed either country music or Dan Bilzerian or both.

by Anonymousreply 8December 5, 2017 5:31 PM

I've been shocked at how quickly this story has been dismissed. My partner and I were talking about it just yesterday and I have to admit I forgot about the Texas Church massacre. I think R4 has it partially right. He was angry as hell and acting out. I think he targeted those people because they were happy and having a good time while he was still a miserable motherfucker without real love or community.

by Anonymousreply 9December 5, 2017 5:33 PM

Someone on DL is trying to plug fuckin Tucker Carlson. What is happening to this place.

by Anonymousreply 10December 5, 2017 6:02 PM

Columbine isn’t even in the top 10 anymore.

The law of diminished returns are kicking in hard and the shooters and media aren’t getting the same bang for their buck anymore...

by Anonymousreply 11December 5, 2017 6:06 PM

My Pastor said it's part of the homosexual agenda.

by Anonymousreply 12December 5, 2017 6:10 PM

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. For decades people have asked the news media to stop making celebrities out of mass shooters. Don't spend endless airtime wondering about the motive, or airing the idiotic rants of the perpetrator. Now the biggest mass shooting in US history has occurred and the media isn't constantly airing the thoughts and explanations of a cold blooded killer and everyone is all, "Yoyre hiding something!"

by Anonymousreply 13December 5, 2017 6:22 PM

That's a good point, R13.

by Anonymousreply 14December 5, 2017 7:21 PM

The thing is everything we know about Paddock was immediately dived into the press right after the shooting, it is just didn't produce an easy motive.

That is what people have a problem with, they want everything tied up in a nice bow with an straightforward explanation of why he did it. And there isn't one, and I think people find that scary that people can just do something like this for no real reason.

by Anonymousreply 15December 5, 2017 7:24 PM

I don't think the media diminished their coverage of mass shootings because they listened to the public, they diminished it because it's become routine. Big deal, another guy has shot up a school. That's the sad part.

And of course the last thing the right wing media agencies want to do is cross the NRA and remind people the majority of these guys are white and straight and look just like everyone's neighbour. It's much easier to pretend that all terrorists are coming from the outside rather than living right next door and the NRA are accountable because there the ones who keep fighting for rights of these guys to own guns.

by Anonymousreply 16December 5, 2017 7:29 PM

It's because both recent shootings targeted Republicans. They wanted the story to be gone. It makes them look bad. When our people are murdered on a mass scale, we play it out for the world to see, over and over.

by Anonymousreply 17December 5, 2017 7:30 PM

Biggest shooting in US history and forgotten already with no info.

by Anonymousreply 18December 6, 2017 7:03 PM

Can you imagine how many of those dead people would have lived if only we knew the motive?

by Anonymousreply 19December 6, 2017 8:39 PM

Reason? They're animals, they don't need a reason

by Anonymousreply 20December 6, 2017 8:40 PM

What did the Deplorabots on Twitter say was Paddock's motive? They're confident of motive within 30 seconds of reading about the shooting, because they always trust their guts instead of waiting for inconvenient facts. It takes one to know one.

Las Vegas sheriff Joe Lombardo revealed that there is an ongoing FBI case against an “individual of federal interest” other than Stephen Paddock or his girlfriend Marilou Danley.

Paddock opened fire on a country music festival on Oct. 1, 2017, from a room in the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas, killing 58 people and injuring 546.

“We do not anticipate charges being brought forward against Marilou Danley,” Lombardo said in his first press conference on the shooting since October 2017.

“As to any other people, the FBI has an ongoing case against an individual of federal interest,” he continued. “I will not be able to elaborate on that statement as because it’s a pending investigation. Any further information in reference to that individual can be provided by the FBI.”

by Anonymousreply 22January 20, 2018 3:50 AM

Madness.

by Anonymousreply 23January 20, 2018 4:43 AM

I thought it was understood that LE knew the motive but were afraid to have it revealed.

by Anonymousreply 24January 20, 2018 5:03 AM

A prostitute that last seen with deranged Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock just before his deadly rampage has mysteriously vanished, RadarOnline has exclusively learned.

The Sin City escort was reported missing by her boyfriend several days after the Oct. 1 shooting that left 58 dead and 800 injured, a former sex worker — who once dated Paddock and is now cooperating with the FBI — told Radar in an exclusive interview.

“She was telling girls after work that she was scared something would happen to her,” claimed former escort Mikaela, whose full name is being withheld to protect her identity. “She was booked the day before or the day off the shooting before she disappeared.”

What’s more, Radar has learned just before the rampage Paddock began sending bizarre text messages to another of Mikaela’s call girl pals, showing he was becoming completely unhinged and paranoid.

“There’s messages where Stephen is telling her he’s a government experiment and that they are listening to everything he says and does, and they can hack into his brain and take over,” Mikaela said.

The motive:

Entitled White Male Feels Entitled to Do Whatever the Fuck He Wants

Same motive as most of society's problems.

by Anonymousreply 26February 11, 2018 7:08 PM

What "Las Vegas Shooting"?

by Anonymousreply 27February 11, 2018 7:09 PM

Have they searched the home he had in Texas?

by Anonymousreply 28February 11, 2018 7:16 PM

I can’t believe how quickly I forgot about this

by Anonymousreply 29February 11, 2018 7:24 PM

I'm not a conspiracy theorist but I do think there is something stinky about this one. I still think his gf knew more than she's letting on. What I find odd is that some of the survivors died in very strange ways later on and now this escort?

by Anonymousreply 30February 11, 2018 7:37 PM

[quote]I assumed it was because he loathed either country music or Dan Bilzerian or both.

Nah because one of his other potential targets was Chicago's Lollopalloza (sp?) and the only thing the two events have in common is a lot of easy pickin' people crammed in a small space and nearby hotels where he could set up his shooting station to get a bead on them.

I doubt there actually was a motive beyond the feeling of power that he had a large number of people at his mercy. Just another sick fuck in an increasingly crazy and angry country/world.

by Anonymousreply 31February 11, 2018 8:20 PM

I still believe that the killer was actually an alter personality. Break the ID of the alter and the case will be solved.

by Anonymousreply 32February 11, 2018 8:53 PM

Rage.

Who will star in the Tarentino movie?

by Anonymousreply 33February 11, 2018 10:42 PM

r30 this has some similarities to the OKC case, which is disturbing.

by Anonymousreply 34February 11, 2018 11:10 PM

OKC had a conspirator, given the needle, and a co conspirator who is in jail for 160+ consecutive life terms. There is no comparison to the Mandalay Massacre.

by Anonymousreply 35February 12, 2018 2:57 AM

Maybe he was trying to protect us from the terrorists and got confused?

by Anonymousreply 36February 12, 2018 3:01 AM

I also think [R4] has it partially right. But I can not understand why his live-in Filipino girlfriend has not been arrested.

by Anonymousreply 37February 12, 2018 3:13 AM

There was an massive right-wing disinformation campaign going on twitter immediately after the shooting, I found it suspicious how quickly they started in on the pussy-hat wearing, Hillary loving, BS that was all debunked. I know people won't believe this on DL, since it's gone hard right lately, but I think there are people intent on getting a civil war started, and shooting up conservatives (followed shortly by the Texas church shooting) is a way to get them riled up.

There is evidence the Texas shooter was a member of a Nazi group who believes these acts need to happen to energize the Aryan base:

[quote]Here is what Atomwaffen believes. In short, they believe in violent, direct action that energizes what they call “the Aryan base,” and agitates “the white race” towards a final race war through acts of terror and violence. They believe that terrorist acts will expose some perceived inherent pride among the white colonialists and lead to a bloody mass uprising that ends in the establishment of a white ethnostate at the point of a gun.

Also, I'm not saying it was surprising that deplorables would blame Hillary, I'm saying the SIZE of the disinformation was staggering at the time, I heard about it when it was happening and searched on twitter and that was all I could find on the shooter. And tons of obvious bots repeating themselves. Next time something like this happens, go on twitter and search and you will see what I mean.

by Anonymousreply 39February 12, 2018 3:37 AM

r35 yes there is.

There was allegedly a larger group of right wing extremists involved in the attack that was never investigated by US LE agencies. The Canadian program The Fifth Estate did a piece on them, although they didn't get very far in their reporting.

Blind Item #10

I find it pretty interesting that this very very recent municipal type issue only managed to destroy an area where evidence was being stored/collected/pieced together in a year old case.
