I love this casting news!
DL fave NICOLLETTE SHERIDAN joins DYNASTY as Alexis Carrington

She’s a better choice than Heather Locklear.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | November 28, 2017 7:43 PM |
Actually that's good. She'll be very Ivanna Trump like.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | November 28, 2017 7:49 PM |
Damn, now I'm tempted to watch this crap fest.
Sheridan's strongest suit is playing snarky bitches so this might be a great role for her.
I'd love to see Marc Cherry's reaction to this casting news.

barf
by Anonymous | reply 6 | November 28, 2017 7:50 PM |
Remember guys, she is actually British so she can pull off the accent.
Plus, she made a great bitch as Edie.
Suck it, Marc Cherry!
by Anonymous | reply 7 | November 28, 2017 7:59 PM |
Damn, now I'm gonna actually have to watch this shitfest.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | November 28, 2017 8:05 PM |
Someone, perhaps more than one person, predicted this on another Dynasty thread.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | November 28, 2017 8:05 PM |
They should cast Terri Hatcher as Alexis' mother and Marc Cherry (since he can't get a show of his picked up anymore) in some degrading bit part, like Alexis' toilet scrubber.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | November 28, 2017 8:22 PM |
Every once in a while, Hollywood gets it right. I'm in.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | November 28, 2017 8:25 PM |
Alexis was an underdog when she showed up in Colorado and so is Sheridan after the Housewives fallout.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | November 28, 2017 8:25 PM |
This thread should be bustling with activity right now.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | November 28, 2017 8:39 PM |
Eva Longoria should play her mother.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | November 28, 2017 9:36 PM |
R15 Yeah, I suppose Hatcher would be much more suited to play her grandmother.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | November 28, 2017 9:43 PM |
Good choice. Teri Hatcher's reputation doesn't help her to get work.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | November 28, 2017 9:47 PM |
Joan Collins week just keeps getting worse.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | November 28, 2017 9:49 PM |
I don't understand why they felt the need to remake Dynasty. Why not do a sequel to the original series and bring in these actors as new characters connected to the originals?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | November 28, 2017 9:49 PM |
This TV show is slowly building into a smash. It's so trashy in a good way that you can't help but watch. I like the fact that it's not trying to be anything more than what it is, and that's okay by me.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | November 28, 2017 9:50 PM |
I love a trashy soap and Nicollette is definitely going to turn me into a viewer. I hope she appears soon.

There is no such thing as a smash on the CW.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | November 28, 2017 9:59 PM |
What about Sable? They should bring Stephanie Beacham in just to say few lines because she was the best in the original!
by Anonymous | reply 25 | November 28, 2017 10:03 PM |
Vivica Fox for Dominique?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | November 28, 2017 10:03 PM |

BRILLIANT IDEA, R26

Vanessa is also a great idea, but she's a little too old. Not that it couldn't work, but she really plays older than Grant Show and Nicollette Sheridan, and she's supposed to be Blake's younger half sister.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | November 28, 2017 10:11 PM |
They've altered so much from the original that Dominique could be Blake's older half sister

Given NS is an ex of Harry Hamlin, it's a shame Lisa Rinna can't be cast as Krystle, but she just looks too trashy with her vagina mouth.

Vagina mouth? I am rolling on the floor with laughter!!!

by Anonymous | reply 61 | November 29, 2017 6:54 PM |
[R59] Yes! She only did 3 Hallmark Original Movies (produced two of them), CBS pilot and three indie movies after DH in those 8 years. And the lawsuit of course, that kept her quite busy for some time.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | November 29, 2017 7:06 PM |
I like that guy playing her son. Is he also gay in real life?
by Anonymous | reply 63 | November 30, 2017 2:33 PM |
The girl who plays Fallon seems to suffer from RBF.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | November 30, 2017 5:34 PM |
I'm not sure Nicollette can save this show. The ratings, even for CW standards, isn't good.

The girl playing Fallon has one speed - full on bitch. At least Pamela Sue Martin made Fallon seem more like a real human.

Let's cast Faye Dunaway as Nicollette's mother.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | December 1, 2017 2:08 PM |
Which means Joan at R67, she's only one year younger than your actual age at the time.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | December 1, 2017 2:17 PM |
Joan Collins' son just published a memoir and he described Faye Dunaway shunning his mother at a party in the late 70s as Joan hitting rock bottom. Faye was hot property at the time and Joan was washed up and pre-Dynasty.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | December 1, 2017 2:21 PM |
R19 RIGHT. then i would watch. I love the original DYNASTY too much to watch this bullshit. Nobody in this reboot is even pretty and there is no glamour and fashion. 👎👎I cannot watch the gothic weirdo from VICTORIOUS play Fallon. It's bad enough we had to deal with Emma Samms. Ugh. No presence and no good acting on this CW knockoff. Imitated but can't be duplicated.

by Anonymous | reply 74 | December 1, 2017 6:10 PM |
Nicollette got divorced last year ... this was her husband Aaron Phypers, they were together for more than a year, then they got married in December 2015 and divorced in July 2016. Interesting. Aaron is about 15 years younger than her and he's from Toronto.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | December 5, 2017 2:05 PM |
Her mom is a very cold and nasty lady who bullied Nicollette. They haven't spoken in quite some time.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | December 6, 2017 5:30 PM |
Nicollette arrives in episode 16. The CW President Mark Pedowitz personally called her and offered her the part of Alexis because he loved working with her on Housewives back when he was at ABC Studios.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | January 8, 2018 5:08 AM |
They're moving the show to Fridays starting in April. Not a good sign. I hope the show gets a ratings boot from Nicollette. She's the only reason I have on giving this show a chance.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | January 9, 2018 3:57 PM |
Stopped watching this unwatchable nighttime soap. Got way too complicated way too soon.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | January 9, 2018 4:28 PM |
I think it's well watched on Netflix so that may save it. Elizabeth Gillies is great fun. The actress who plays Cristal is OK. Grant Show is miscast. I like it even though it's not Dynasty, it's not well produced or written and for the most part the actors are just OK, but still I like it and look forward to seeing what happens next.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | March 17, 2018 4:22 PM |
I have a hard time liking it. I watched the pilot and then only last week's episode. The writing is truly lousy. It thinks it's clever with snippy dialogues, but it's not. It's for those viewers who find Real Housewives satisfying. Personally, I don't understand why they don't aim higher. Yes, I understand you cannot drown in shallow waters. But come on, try to come up with better dialogues. You won't alienate anyone if you write unique lines and not use auto text in every scene. Hire actors who aren't limited to one note. That doesn't cost extra. Thanks to writing and acting, the whole show feels (still) very sterile. There are no emotions in writing or acting that would affect me as viewer.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | March 18, 2018 3:00 AM |
That was well said, r82. Summed up my feelings nicely.
I watched the first 5-6 episodes. They were OK.
Have another 7 or 8 on my DVR that I haven't gotten around to watching. Not especially missing the show. I'll defeinitely watch for Nicolette's arrival. Just don't know if I'll watch those 7 or 8 that I've missed before watching her Alexis.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | March 18, 2018 8:44 AM |
The set up for Alexis' return seems pretty unexciting.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | March 18, 2018 12:40 PM |

Crickets on the return of Alexis.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | March 24, 2018 3:34 AM |
It was a thud.
The episode was entertaining but Alexis' entrance was sad... she looked like a combination between an aging showgirl and an unmade bed. And about as menacing.
Fail.

Please. That they did even that is something (and unanticipated). With few exceptions, extended opening credits on non-cable TV shows are a thing of the past.
by Anonymous | reply 96 | March 24, 2018 8:18 PM |
It might well suck, but I've always liked her going back to the earliest of her Knots Landing days, so I'm glad she is getting work and yeah, more than most (all?) of the other DH women, evidently
by Anonymous | reply 97 | March 24, 2018 8:35 PM |
So, they're already doing the lily pond catfight next week, and it's between Alexis...and Fallon.
Jesus.
by Anonymous | reply 98 | March 24, 2018 9:36 PM |
Ok, I just watched the last episode. I still cannot get over the really bad acting of everybody. Instead of the actors should I just blame poor directing overall? The whole thing looks like it is filmed in 3 days. It really aggravates me that they wreck something that could have been a good thing. The concept of this soap isn't even that bad, but the execution is extremely unambitious. The Dallas reboot had some really questionable story choices - which I blame Cynthia Cidre and TNN for. But at least the acting was sincere and overall acceptable. Here... it's like they don't even try. Just like the dreadful Charlies Angels remake, this feels like somebody was just looking for a huge tax write off.
by Anonymous | reply 100 | March 25, 2018 1:38 PM |
I think the acting has actually gotten worse instead of better. The girl who plays Fallon is good, so is the guy playing Anders and Sammy Joe has his moments. Everybody else downhill.
by Anonymous | reply 101 | March 25, 2018 2:34 PM |
One thing I like is that it has a funny tone to it but perhaps they go overboard with that sometimes to the point that we don't FEEL any connections to the characters, Stammy Jo being the exception. They are the only rootable couple on this show. Could have lived without them having sex backstage at the funeral through. That was gross.
I didn't like the Dallas reboot much because it was so DEADLY serious all the time. Knots Landing could balance both the drama and the comedy.
Maybe they should reboot that show.
Also, why couldn't they have let Nicolette use her British accent? It would have been a nice contrast.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | March 25, 2018 4:22 PM |
I wish Alexis was British.
by Anonymous | reply 103 | March 25, 2018 4:23 PM |
I wonder if this Alexis will be nothing like original recipe Alexis. She may be a total flake. Original recipe Alexis would never have done that entrance that way.
The only characters close to the originals are Fallon and Steven, although they're both much freer to be fuck ups (Steven with the drugs, for example... that's actually a cool touch.). But Blake is nothing. Cristal... is kind Krystle but harder edge... she's kind of an interesting character but the actress seems to be getting worse instead of better. Anders is cool but he's going a bit too softie... guess he's really just the Greek chorus, only shading not chanting.
by Anonymous | reply 104 | March 25, 2018 4:49 PM |
Does anyone really buy Grant Show as a business tycoon, or at least as a business man? I can't. Partly responsible is certainly the writing. They need him to do more than sitting behind a desk shuffling papers. That aside though I don't see him having the gravitas to be a Blake Carrington.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | March 25, 2018 8:18 PM |
Grant Show does not have the gravitas of John Forsythe.
by Anonymous | reply 106 | March 25, 2018 8:44 PM |
The arrival of Nicolette's Alexis was done for comic effect.
The arrival of Joan's Alexis was done for dramatic tension.

John Forsythe did not have the gravitas for the role. He was all wrong for Blake.

Nicolette still looks very good, almost like she did in DH. But sorry, that entrance was so poorly executed. It's neither funny or dramatic. The original was iconic.

[bold]BEST PRIMETIME SOAP
Dynasty[/bold]
While many people called this show a “stinker” and an insult to the original version of the 80’s, this CW torque is like a soap on steroids with all the clichés, the smut, the back-stabbing and double-crossings of a double-crossing. For some odd reason, we found it an enjoyable romp and an hour of escape amidst the same ole’ same ole’ on Empire and Nashville, two definitively more polished and more well-written shows. What is happening to us? LOL

Criticize Grant Show if you must, but the most important facts about him are that he is drop dead handsome and has a wonderfully curved cock that hits ladies in just the right place (if you know what I mean).

by Anonymous | reply 121 | March 31, 2018 3:04 AM |
I know how to fix it and get everybody super excited about season 2: In the last scene of the season ending, Pamela Sue Martin wakes up next to John James and tells him that she just had the most bizarre dream.

Did it get renewed?
by Anonymous | reply 123 | March 31, 2018 1:56 PM |
So just saw the first full on Alexis episode. I don't think NS brings much to the part. Granted I am old enough to remember Collins chewing her way into the scenery and old enough now to appreciate the impact of it. Part of it is the writing... this isn't going to be the Alexis of the first season either... not quite sure who she will be... maybe just your garden variety TV soap bitch... The only actor on the show giving it any energy is the actor playing Fallon.
by Anonymous | reply 124 | March 31, 2018 2:06 PM |
R123, it is currently averaging between 600-650 thousand viewers (conventional broadcast.). From a ratings site: "The series is based on an existing CBS property and Netflix releases the show internationally so, word is, a deal with the latter makes Dynasty profitable right out of the gate. For this reason, I suspect that a second season renewal is inevitable."
I gather it hasn't yet been renewed but maybe with Netflix in the mix it is cheap enough to make it indefinitely. It looks pretty cheaply produced and they must have a sweetheart deal with the state of Georgia.
by Anonymous | reply 125 | March 31, 2018 2:25 PM |
Atlanta DLers... do you get any sense of the production in the city? Are the actors seen about?
by Anonymous | reply 126 | March 31, 2018 2:25 PM |
I think this Blake is supposed to be a bit of a neutered version, so Show works well. I love the idea of trailer park Alexis but they seriously need to dress her her age. or at least closer to it. And no sequins. With Sheridan's athletic build, they make her look like she missed the Drag Race set instead.
by Anonymous | reply 127 | March 31, 2018 2:33 PM |
This really isn't the 80s Dynasty, is it? And it's never gonna be.
by Anonymous | reply 128 | March 31, 2018 6:34 PM |
Blake letting Alexis' dog out of her trailer and saying, "Hope the coyotes don't eat it" was fucked up.
Fallon shooting up the house was also fucked up. That was Claudia Blaisdel type behavior, and Fallon should be committed for observation.
The catfight in the pool was pointless and, worst of all, unfun.
Jeff and the Colbys sure weren't missed in this episode.
by Anonymous | reply 129 | March 31, 2018 11:01 PM |
In its campy, ridiculous way the original show had class and elegance as a general rule.
This show is just a train wreck for the sake of being one.
by Anonymous | reply 130 | March 31, 2018 11:20 PM |
Exactly, the original show has class and old world style. The new ones reeks of nouveau riche trash. I see the white trash pool guy from Melrose Place being called 'Blake Carrington' and it makes me feel physically sick.
by Anonymous | reply 131 | March 31, 2018 11:43 PM |
The gun thing was entirely over the top... jump the shark over the top. You're right... these people lack class and aspiration to class. It's just a CW show playing dress up.

The best thing about the reboot is Adam Huber as "Liam".
by Anonymous | reply 133 | April 1, 2018 12:56 PM |
I think what people don't understand, or don't remember, is what made 80s Dynasty relevant and successful. When it was good it made people relate on an emotional level, like every good story in a TV show, movie or book. Yes, you remember the shoulder pads, the OTT interiors, the fur coats, the jewelry and the fights in the pond. But the show became a success because you saw the second wife dealing with the ex. You saw the Ex trying to get back into the game after she was sidelined. You saw Fallon 1 being an exceptional 80s character. Fallon had a full range of motivation, she had wit and intelligence and was so much more than just a brat. The pond fight and expensive clothes were the reason the show stayed on in the late 80s, but relatable characters were the reason it became a hit to begin with. I don't mind the setting and plots being OTT. But the show needs more than that. The writers and directors need to bring in a lot more sincerity in regard to good characters. It can be done. And I don't think it needs to be expensive or overwhelms the audience. Shondaland is doing it three times a week for years. At this point I am giving up on CW fixing this show. They never did. But maybe Netflix can exercise some influence to turn this train wreck around.
by Anonymous | reply 134 | April 1, 2018 1:38 PM |
Actually, Dynasty became a hit when it went over the top... but I agree with your point R134 that despite the excess, there was a kind of humanity to the show in the first two, maybe three years... it was about relationships between people (against a backdrop that was fantastic.).
Before it lost focus, it was entered around Blake Carrington having built a fortune from next to nothing and his determination to build and sustain his empire - and the effect of that on all those caught in the cross winds of that ambition.
This Dynasty doesn't have an anchor character. It isn't clear what anyone wants that rises about self interest. The most engaging characters are Fallon, who may have shot her credibility completely last episode, Sammy Jo, who's just amusing and kinda seems to think it's all bullshit, and Anders, who is more human than the original (but I fear morphing too much toward softie.) The Cristal character has moments where she's focused on the idea of family.... her relationship with Fallon is intriguing... but you are so right, character, character, character... absent it you get as many episodes as you can until it tanks. This thing probably tanks fast.

Another thing that drives me nuts is how cheap the show looks. That house is junk and its decorated like junk.
by Anonymous | reply 136 | April 1, 2018 2:51 PM |
Totally agree, R135. Another thumbs down here. This production has taken the title and character names, and laid them over a bunch of dark, mean shit that has no roots or reason.

I often wonder what the Shapiros think... they've been involved somehow.... this is a far cry from the Dynasty they created - though fairly similar to the idiocy that got cancelled - maybe they just figured fuck it, take the money, we can leave it to the grandkids.

Gordon Thompson was right from the beginning.

So I hate my job so much I was Googling without purpose and found casting notices for extras during shooting, which wrapped it looks like Mar 30th.
Forgot to scoop the link but it looks like the funeral where Alexis first appeared was shot Jan 24th. Subsequently there were casting calls for a lot of fashion related scenes, a scene with multiple lawyers of all ages/ethnicities, a scene for you hip young people attending a dinner party given by a wealthy young couple, a call for a Playboy bunny type to attend an event with a wealthy young businessman (she will be scantily clad the call sheet said), a scene requiring residents of a mental health facility (not the return of plain Jane Claudia, I hope) and another scene requiring doctors, nurses, EMTS and waiting room patients. The final call was for a scene set in a country and western bar - that shot around March 30th, so nothing says Moldavia like a line dance.
Oh and I didn't notice but maybe you did... they switched mansions from the pilot. Though the awful interiors seem to be at the new one... or they built sets (they shoot some stuff at studios in north Atlanta... Norcross.).
by Anonymous | reply 140 | April 2, 2018 10:13 PM |
The original is running on some vintage tv channel here, Alexis has move back to Denver into her artists studio on the Carrington estate. I'm surprised at how luxe it all looks, over thirty years later. Lots of shimmering champagne silk blouses, thick creamy furs etc. Anyway Joan is a very limited actor (it really shows) but she's brilliant and perfect in the part. And she's funny, there's a mischievous glint in her eye.

Actually Dynasty aficionados, consider the last season, Season 9, one of the best of the show's run.
As Dynasty has been renewed for a second season, perhaps they can resurrect Sable as Alexis' cousin...just not married to a Colby.
by Anonymous | reply 142 | April 2, 2018 11:32 PM |
This Dynasty has been retooled specifically for black culture: loud, trashy and tasteless.
by Anonymous | reply 144 | April 3, 2018 12:23 AM |
I love it. I love Nicollette too.
by Anonymous | reply 145 | April 3, 2018 12:33 AM |
I was an extra early on in the season. The mansion interiors are a set.

Wow. Worst set ever.

One of the biggest mistakes was casting such a bland, plain Steven Carrington.
by Anonymous | reply 149 | April 3, 2018 2:35 AM |
He is an upgrade in that part for me. More of a sense of humor.
by Anonymous | reply 150 | April 3, 2018 11:46 AM |

FF the bigot at R144.
Need an example of why you can't take anything seriously on DL? See R147. The hyperbole is just silly. It's not even the 100th worst set ever.
The first season(s) of Dallas had laughable sets for who these people were supposed to be. J.R.'s office looked like the manager of a used car lot, complete with cheap paste board paneling. They didn't really improve until Dynasty came on.
by Anonymous | reply 152 | April 4, 2018 3:22 AM |
R152, so you deny black culture is trashy with its misogyny, homophobia and idolatry of wealth? Don't flame r144 just for speaking the fucking truth. What everyone knows and is afraid to say.
by Anonymous | reply 153 | April 4, 2018 3:24 AM |
I can't get past how cheap the show looks and the low production values. I do give it points for the breakneck plotting and some of the casting. However, a lot of the show is miscast including the sneering Fallon and wooden Jeff Colby. Nicollette Sheridan is a pass,.
by Anonymous | reply 154 | April 4, 2018 3:30 AM |
r153, you're not making a good case. Give us some data, some information to back up your claim. What exactly is black culture? Movie, music, TV or literature, or the entirety of it? How did you assess the misogyny of the entire black culture, how the homophobia and the idolatry? To what extent is it different to other culture, like asian for example? How do you measure it? If you don't want to make the case yourself, feel free to just post a link to the science supporting your truth that hopefully at least one reputable scientist is not afraid to say.

No one wants Alexis via Claudia Blaisdel.

by Anonymous | reply 158 | April 7, 2018 8:40 PM |
Not yet. Was she still pregnant when they carted her off?
Last night Alexis told Steven a PI had tracked Adam to El Paso... upthread there is a reference to a call for extras for a scene in a country and western bar. I wonder if we're all going to "Texas" at some point in the season finale proceedings?
I thought Adam was Fallon's fake husband but now I wonder if that's a red herring? Does seem pretty obvious if he's been around all along.

by Anonymous | reply 163 | April 8, 2018 2:55 PM |
We did a little binge watching because of this thread.
It’s low-rent and trashy.
by Anonymous | reply 164 | April 8, 2018 6:09 PM |
What is the purpose of this Alexis? The real Alexis came back to get her revenge - and then decided she wanted her old job back.
This one showed up for the reading of a will but she's also broke but she was also secretly seeing Steven but she also was living in a trailer nearby without trying to do anything about it until she got the call about the reading of the will.
They have introduced a major character with no discernible motivation, played by an actress with no particular energy in the delivery of bitchy, campy, amusing dialogue. It's kind of a amazing even on a show with such low standards and less budget.
by Anonymous | reply 165 | April 8, 2018 10:42 PM |
I have to wonder why they are deballing Alexis.
by Anonymous | reply 168 | April 8, 2018 10:54 PM |
Sheridan plays it all comedy, which is really in line with the rest of the cast. It's unfortunate though. She is good with drama and really brought something to the table when she developed Paige back in Knots Landing. I want to guess that she is doing this gig just for a pay check and maybe to demonstrate that she can be a well working and reliable cast member again.
If they go all comedy they should do it for real. It wouldn't be my favorite take, but at least the show would get some direction. Right now it doesn't go drama or comedy. And the space in the middle is not working here.
by Anonymous | reply 169 | April 9, 2018 1:45 AM |
This last week's episode was one of the most uneven in awhile... lazy soap opera devices left, right and centre (the one I can recall is Cristal finding a medical expert and flying her in on the family jet... while still in the same outfit she was wearing when she'd opened her big mouth about five minutes earlier causing the guilt that sent her seeking a medical expert...) the performances not great... The girl playing Fallon is the best... Sammy Jo is second... funny and sweet (and they right some good dialogue that is consistent with his character... nice set of pipes on him too when he was dosed up and singing)... Grant show is about as menacing as Don Lemon throwing a fit... Cristal started out as not a bad actress (not the best, but not as bad as she's gotten in recent episodes.) It's a show that could be much much better than it is.
by Anonymous | reply 170 | April 9, 2018 2:24 AM |
I like Sammy Jo.
by Anonymous | reply 171 | April 12, 2018 6:33 PM |
Last night was NS's best episode yet as Alexis.
Was last night the end of Liam?
by Anonymous | reply 172 | April 21, 2018 11:28 AM |
Last night was certainly one of the better written episodes. Still don't get why we're supposed to care about Blake and Cristal.
(best line of the night was Fallon in the gold sequinned pantsuit... 'I look like Hillary Clinton dipped in Elton John."
by Anonymous | reply 173 | April 21, 2018 2:05 PM |
The writers, directors (every episode has a different set) do NOT get why Blake and Celiac Disease are together. All they do is make each other miserable and fight. On the original, you got balance; yeah they fought but they also had fun and enjoyed each other. This show is just idiocy with an occasionally witty barb for Fallon to snap..
by Anonymous | reply 174 | April 22, 2018 3:17 AM |
It's huge, trashy fun.
by Anonymous | reply 175 | April 22, 2018 11:02 AM |
I'd recast Blake... Show has no gravitas.
I'd give Alexis a purpose.

Blake Carrington should be taller than Grant Show.
by Anonymous | reply 177 | April 23, 2018 12:44 AM |
The original Blake raped Krystle.
Seriously.
by Anonymous | reply 178 | April 23, 2018 1:42 AM |

R181, And your point is?
by Anonymous | reply 182 | April 28, 2018 1:58 PM |

This show has everything but good writing and believable characters.
by Anonymous | reply 186 | May 5, 2018 11:16 PM |
Blake Carrington is the worst drawn character ever. John Forsythe's Blake, before he reverted to father knows best, was a hard ass, occasionally frightening, self made man. You could at least understand why he was such a jerk. This Blake is a sociopath asshole... who inherited his wealth... he's should be a clueless self indulgent shithead, not an increasingly sociopathic asshole. They've made a character who is wholly unlikeable... without anything to make him watchable. They should do a who shot Blake where its shoot to kill. Character means nothing.
by Anonymous | reply 187 | May 5, 2018 11:21 PM |
It's also so evident they're doing a revenge of Matthew/Moldavia mash up.
by Anonymous | reply 188 | May 5, 2018 11:22 PM |
The thru line in the original was how much Blake and Krystle were devoted to each other.
by Anonymous | reply 189 | May 6, 2018 12:08 AM |
They never established anything about Blake and Cristal in this thing except they liked to fuck and she was about the most likeable of the lot of them (low bar.). I don't know whether it's because it turned into the Fallon show or it's being done by focus group, but Blake and Cristal don't contribute much.
by Anonymous | reply 190 | May 6, 2018 12:45 AM |
Will Alexis and Adam/Hank get caught fucking?
by Anonymous | reply 191 | May 6, 2018 9:36 AM |
[R191] Most likely......in the next episode yes.
by Anonymous | reply 192 | May 6, 2018 10:14 AM |
Sidenote: Nicolette’s take on Alexis is really starting to show. This week when she called Krystle a “Trashy Little Tramp!” It was hilarious and came off very rude. Lol
by Anonymous | reply 193 | May 6, 2018 10:21 AM |
So Dominique is Jeff and Monica’s mother? Who will they cast as Dominique?
But... Jeff and Fallon were second cousins in the original show. This show, they’re first cousins.
My guess is that the DNA test is going to come back and it will turn out that Hank really is Adam Carrington, so he and Alexis will have been committing incest.
by Anonymous | reply 194 | May 6, 2018 7:44 PM |
No because original recipe Adam had a finger cut off as a child, following his kidnapping. Fuck burglar Adam had his finer cut off to work the scam.
by Anonymous | reply 195 | May 6, 2018 8:39 PM |
This show's story lines is such a hot mess. More is not more if nothing resonates and has no emotional punch whatsoever. What are the odds that the show gets retooled for season 2 with new production staff? Probably zero, I'm afraid.
by Anonymous | reply 196 | May 6, 2018 11:39 PM |
What if baby Adam never really had his finger cut off? What if that was someone else’s finger that the kidnappers claimed to be Adam’s?
by Anonymous | reply 197 | May 6, 2018 11:45 PM |
Do you think it’s possible that Matthew isn’t really alive and that Claudia is just hallucinating?
Also, there’s a fire next episode. Does Claudia start it?
by Anonymous | reply 198 | May 7, 2018 11:22 PM |
I think Claudia was hallucinating and that shes still very, very crazy. I'm hoping shes not the arsonist, though. We need her out if the looney bin so she can recreate throwing the baby off the roof moment from the original series.
by Anonymous | reply 199 | May 8, 2018 12:14 AM |
It would also be nice if the arsonist was Culhane. He's too nice. Everyone on this show us as likeable as a hemorrhoid so his taking revenge for the Cartington's poisoning his family would be a nice twist. Although if they follow the original show, no one's going to die in that cabin fire and it will be forgotten two minutes into season two.
by Anonymous | reply 200 | May 8, 2018 12:17 AM |

Did I miss anything since stopped watching a month ago? Has Adam arrived? Who is whose son? Was last night the season finale?
by Anonymous | reply 202 | May 13, 2018 12:17 AM |
It looks like Kirby is the arsonist instead of Joseph in this version.
by Anonymous | reply 203 | May 13, 2018 6:46 AM |
So why is Kirby getting the mystery arrival treatment in Season 1 finale the way Alexis did before they cast Joan Collins?
by Anonymous | reply 204 | May 13, 2018 6:47 AM |
It was OK as a cliffhanger... lots of suspension of belief required... I'm sorry as apparently Nicolette Sheridan is a DL fave but she is bombing as Alexis. Sure the part if written as crap so that doesn't help but I find her flat... and a good actress can spin crap into something. I watch for the twist value... which I give them credit for... but this is a lame show overall. Badly cast, badly written... badly everything. Even the house sucks.
by Anonymous | reply 205 | May 13, 2018 8:49 PM |
Too many negative Nellies here, so I’m going to make some positive observations:
The reboot’s characters are ALL written with a certain degree of complexity. Unlike the original, not one single character is completely good or evil. For the poster upthread who said Michael Cilhanebos too much of a Saint, remember he’s been lying to his parents for most of his professional life. That’s a tough charade to keep up.
I think this Cristal is a step up from frozen-faced, ditzy Linda Evans. At least, this one has a career, and is not some secretary-cum-socialite. Plus she has beauty pageant looks (Miss Venezuela?) whereas Evans looked like a dried-up, cross-eyed line backer.
The bilingual element is progressive (just like pop songs nowadays) and, whereas it will piss off bigoted deplorables (some of which have shown their true colors in this thread), it is attracting a huge Hispanic and international audience, all known soap lovers. So I wouldn’t worry about the show’s fate.
Rafael de la Fuente as Sammy Jo is exquisite, and a great departure from the also exquisite Heather Locklear. Here’s a wonderful example of divergent characters, both of which worked on their own merits (even if both had that basic honest yet trashy quality). I especially love the actor’s side talents (singing/dancing) and the character’s relationship with Andrea, who has taken quite an affection for him, not unlike that of an older gay man looking after a younger, straying one and performing daddy/mentor functions. What’s not to love? (Is this still a gay web site??! I’ve been wondering).
Speaking of side talents, Peruvian actress Nathalie Kelly (new Cristal, spelled differently for those of you who are still getting it wrong) is quite the Latin Ballroom dancer!
Despite his wooden performance, Grant Show is doing a good job delivering a cold callous Blake Carrington, and looks a lot more desirable than the exCharlie who originally played the character. Talk about one-note and wooden! The new Blake at least has some father issues through which his vulnerability shows.
Those of you trashing the show as glitzy and cheap-looking have clearly forgotten a) the ruffly, glittery shoulder-padded triangle fashions of the 1980’s that haunted the original and b) the low budget photography and set designs of the original. It was and us a soap opera! We are indulging in the shimmer.
I take the show at face value. One of the few negatives I have is why did they bother to move the show to Atlanta (probably to feature a larger multi culture). Not a single southern accent in the crowd!! Not even the local police or waitstaff!
by Anonymous | reply 206 | May 23, 2018 11:53 AM |

Amen, R206.
As for the move to Atlanta, that's where they're filming so why not set it there? You can include Atlanta locales and events (which they've already done this season).
All in all a solid season with a great finale. Not perfect but people forget Original Dynasty didn't really find its voice until Season 2.

Whatever fleeting similarities there were with Dynasty it's done now. A chaotic, exposition filled series of set ups, not much of a season opener. Even Liz Gillies didn't shine, which is unusual because she basically carried the show first season.

This show is actually entertaining. It's just called Dynasty but it's guilty pleasure stupid entertaining. Nicollette is doing nothing as Alexis and given nothing as Alexis. If the real Dynasty had used Alexis it like this it would have been cancelled by ABC by the end of the second season, if not by midseason of that run.
The Kirby character has potential for amusement but this is totally a CW show, not anything to do with Dynasty Dynasty.

by Anonymous | reply 244 | October 20, 2018 5:03 PM |
She's not a great actress... competent but I'd guess her "process" involves nothing more than memorizing and delivering lines and the direction she gets is "ham it up." She won't have the skills to try to elevate the material and the material she's trying to elevate it plot driven bottom of the barrel. The character is present, not written for.

This new Kirby is obviously a conflation of the old Kirby and the original Sammy Jo — stealing Fallon’s necklace.

They've smoothed out the bumps R253.
They will probably cast someone like Robin Givens or Garcelle Beauvais to play Dominique.

I watched the other nite for the first time the new version of dynasty and found it awful. Terrible acting, etc
by Anonymous | reply 256 | October 28, 2018 10:13 PM |
The first season was brilliant and the second season has been just as good so far. Sheridan is fantastic; all of her scenes crackle.
Don’t understand any of the criticism leveled in this thread.

R257 Show and Sheridan have great chemistry, but she’s not as sharp and biting as Joan Collins in the role. Most of the time NS acts like an idiot when Alexis should be nothing but. But some of Fallon’s one liners are great. It’s just an OK show, most of the cast if not all will be forgotten after it’s cancelled. I’ve seen far worse on the CW though.

When it works the lines are snappy and the wit sly. I am thoroughly enjoying this incarnation.

That's resting cunt-face.

Nicolette Sheridan’s Alexis seems more like a Lucille Ball type in her antics.
by Anonymous | reply 261 | October 29, 2018 3:14 PM |
The character is drive by. No agenda. No bite. NS is aging naturally but come across as an aging hooker, dressed woefully for her age. Original Alexis was a force to be reckoned with, and had style. This is a name slapped on NS.

I think they made the right choice by not making Nicolette's Alexis a copy of Joan's Alexis. She is more modern and sort of like a bitchy real housewife. Joan was channeling Joan Crawford in Queen Bee as her Alexis. The time period affects the way the character should be portrayed.
by Anonymous | reply 263 | October 29, 2018 3:22 PM |
Exactly, R263. This is a Dynasty for the modern era. It makes total sense that Alexis would be modeled after a Real Housewife. It’s a wise move.

So far I am digging season 2 more than S1. picked up the writing it's moving fast Lots of Bombshells dropped 2night!

How could Fallon keep her hands off adorable Liam?
by Anonymous | reply 266 | October 30, 2018 9:27 AM |
I want Liam's dick. He's such an adorable guy.
by Anonymous | reply 267 | October 30, 2018 9:45 AM |
Last episode had only 600k viewers. It's probably canceled, isn't it? That's low even by CW's standard.
by Anonymous | reply 268 | November 4, 2018 9:07 PM |
It wasn't a very interesting episode. I wouldn't say it is a goner only because of the Netflix tie in... that might generate the revenue to justify it. But it really isn't very good... it's not a reboot so much as they bought the rights to use some names.
by Anonymous | reply 269 | November 4, 2018 9:18 PM |
This last episode in Paraguay was terrible, and I’m a defender of the reboot in general. The ratings have been up this season (0.2) as opposed to the many 0.1s it hit last year. The Netflix deal basically makes the ratings irrelevant.
by Anonymous | reply 270 | November 4, 2018 9:46 PM |
Somebody schooled me that this Alexis is meant to be a more Real Housewife type than a Joan Collins type, which actually made sense of it to me. But still, the character is kind of listless.
by Anonymous | reply 271 | November 4, 2018 9:49 PM |
So is Steven off the show?
by Anonymous | reply 272 | November 4, 2018 9:52 PM |
It’s funny how they actually changed actresses with Cristal in this version, but the excuse they use is it’s a different Cristal, unlike plastic surgery.
by Anonymous | reply 273 | November 5, 2018 3:46 AM |
This series makes profit even before it airs (thanks to 188 countries that can watch the newest episode on Netflix) so those terrible ratings don't matter at all. And it's produced by CBS Television (they own The CW) so that also saves them money.

Nicollette is one sexy bitch. She looks wonderful for being almost 55 years old!
by Anonymous | reply 275 | November 8, 2018 7:17 PM |
James Mackay has been let go (not his choice to leave at all). He was out of the credits and will not return. He wasn’t a great actor, but losing the character right after he got married messes up the storylines. I don’t like this decision.

Someone in the cast has a HUGE ego. First Natalie and now James....
by Anonymous | reply 277 | November 10, 2018 12:48 AM |
I didn’t realize how much turmoil was going on behind the scenes. Nathalie’s comment about, “Now I have my life back,” was pretty telling. So, who’s causing the trouble? Why is more gossip not circulating about the show?

It's not big enough for people to care?

She's terrible. She can't act.

Yes, Nicolette.

God, Fallon is annoying. Being snarky all day without displaying any depth is just plain annoying, not witty.
by Anonymous | reply 284 | November 10, 2018 2:20 PM |
R276 no loss . So nerdy and annoying without the least bit of charisma. I would’ve preferred a old as fuck Al Corley or Jack Coleman over him.
by Anonymous | reply 285 | November 10, 2018 2:37 PM |
Fallon actually is really annoying in the last few episodes. There's nothing to her. The show has no focus. It's just a bunch of people doing stuff. It's the Seinfeld soap.
by Anonymous | reply 286 | November 10, 2018 2:39 PM |
OK this show wasn't good to begin with but is over now... that episode was stupid.
by Anonymous | reply 287 | November 17, 2018 12:42 PM |

she has the appeal of a soiled octopus.

She should play Cody Fern's mom.

Ms. Sheridan turned 55 today!!
by Anonymous | reply 291 | November 21, 2018 6:50 PM |
The actress playing Fallon is the only one who can act. Sorry to see first Steve go, history repeats itself. Hope they don’t get rid of Sammy, he is delightful to have around.
Jasmine Guy for Dominique Deveraux!

I actually enjoyed the whole Wizard of Oz dream sequence. Way out there, and Rafael de la Fuente’s tight pants got me going.
Culhane’s Mother was good.
The crazies (Claudia and Hank) get on my nerves.
Hard to believe these folks are good business people when they constantly write huge checks to buy tons of people off.
Still uncomfortable with the fact that absolutely no one has a Georgia southern accent.
by Anonymous | reply 293 | November 21, 2018 10:30 PM |
Reboot Claudia has nothing on Original Flavor Claudia. Now, that girl had serious crazy.
I'm grateful they haven't tried to give the cast Georgia accents. It always seems to turn into faux Gone with the Wind which is grating as hell.
by Anonymous | reply 294 | November 24, 2018 3:13 AM |
The series has absolutely no buzz and bad ratings in the U.S., but people keep mentioning the Netflix International deal. So is it hugely popular in, like, Finland and other countries?
by Anonymous | reply 295 | November 24, 2018 3:44 PM |
It isn't good enough to be a telenovela, and now having lost Crystal and Steven just make this a trainwreck. If it was to keep Nicolette Sheridan who's as ugly as a drag queen and half the talent - then, cancel it. It's awful.
by Anonymous | reply 296 | November 25, 2018 8:10 PM |
I thought they had a new Crystal.
by Anonymous | reply 297 | November 28, 2018 4:22 AM |
shows have their moment and then they die. just pick a new show for a new moment. why does anyone think that bringing back the 80s is actually a thing that works?
by Anonymous | reply 298 | November 28, 2018 4:36 AM |
They didn't bring back the 80's. They brought back the title, "Dynasty" and slapped it on a show about a bunch of retards who happened to be named Carrington and Colby. This thing is such a wasted opportunity. Whoever is running this show should never work in the entertainment industry again.

I call this show “Diversity Dynasty.”
