Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe’s Daughter Ava Shines at 2017 Debutante Ball
Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe’s daughter, Ava Phillippe, absolutely dazzled at the 25th annual Bal des Debutantes in Paris on Saturday, November 25.
The 18-year-old wore a gold ballgown designed by Giambattista Valli Haute Couture at the event at The Peninsula Paris hotel. She was escorted by Maharaja Padmanabh Singh of Jaipur, a prominent member of Indian royalty and a polo player pal of Prince William’s. In a video posted by Bruno Astuto, a writer for Vogue Brasil, Phillippe looks calm and poised as she elegantly bows to Singh before they began a waltz. The pair dance to a song from the hit film La La Land in front of 19 fellow debutantes, including Steve Harvey’s daughter, Lori Harvey, and other guests.
The blonde beauty posed for photos alongside her mom, with Witherspoon gazing at her daughter in adoration. The Oscar winner, 41, was also seen sitting next to her husband Jim Toth and taking pictures of her daughter on her phone. Phillippe, who boasts nearly 500,000 Instagram followers, is often mistaken for her look-alike parent.

Wow looking at that photo, I thought it was Reese and figured she must have danced there too.

Lol, selling their daughter to Middle Eastern royalty at 16. I know both parents are box office poison, but has it really come to this?

India is not the Middle East.
That said, WTF? Debutante ball for Americans in Paris? God we really have gone global.

It's a debutante ball for the nouveau riche.

Would have thought Ryan at the very least would have raised her better than to be ok with participating in such an event. Go build a clinic in Appalachia or something you little dummy, and take that pretentious, southern belle mother with you.

She's much prettier than her mother.

Ryan is much prettier than either of them.

Color me shocked. Steve Harvey's daughter is beautiful. Lucky lady takes after her mother.
She wore Elie Saab to the ball.

This particular ball is for very wealthy trash who cannot debut anywhere else, or wish to show off more than is allowed in polite society. Founded in 1992!

Their daughter looks exactly like Ryan, not Reese. I mean look at that pic at r2. It is Ryan's face.

I was wondering what kind of debutante ball this was. The Willis girls debuted there, all of HW's daughters go to this ball so you knew it had to be bullshit and not the real aristocracy. I would have thought Reese had better taste, but apparently not.

[quote] not the real aristocracy
You can hardly get more aristocratic and less nouveau riche than her Prince date.

You guys are so picky and judgmental. I came out at a very established old money ball in Richmond, Va,, but I would have loved doing something glitzier and more fun at that age. I could not have cared less about the stuffy old school style of the Bal in Richmond...but my mother sure did.

I have no recollection of my attire. But to this day the smell of Nivea makes me twitch and feel funny down there.

R23 That is the granddaughter of a DL fave, the Duchess of Alba, who bequeathed to each of her children a palace and left them a total of over $5 billion.
This young lady is a true aristocrat, and lives a charmed life in a real palace.

Wow, some of those dresses are just tasteless and fugly.
The dresses are ill-fitting and the wrong style/shape for the majority of those girls.
Even I can see that, and I'm not some style homo who cares who wore what better.

I think Steve Harvey's daughter's gown is gorgeous, but it could not be more inappropriate for a deb.

There are some real aristocratic types at this ball. They are attracted by the children of stars, who are attracted by the old world glamour of it all and (probably) a free ride while there.
For all it’s glitz, the Senatorix will tell you Le Bal is no St. Cecelia Club ball.

Reese Witherspoon's daughter came out to what, Parisian society? 😂😂😂
Why do these poseurs even try? Don't they know they look like fools? Young women came out to society because before this they were IN. As in they didn't really socialize.

Well R44, since half of "Parisian society" these days seem to be from far-away former French colonies...I don't think it matters so much to most Parisians at all
I don't think the granddaughter of the Duchess of Alba is a "poseur" nor do I think Princess Charlotte of Nassau is a "poseur" as well.

This reminds me of the David Sedaris story where he discovers that every high school has its own hierarchy. He overhears kids talking in reverent tones about some popular kids and he has no idea who they are. The powerful and popular kids at your own school have no power among the kids a few towns over.
People worship NASCAR drivers or athletes I’ve never heard of. I idolize certain writers or fashion designers *they* haven’t heard of.
It’s funny, the things we consider important in our little tribes. To me, a debutante ball seems frivolous and silly, but it’s dead serious to these folks.

The Swan Ball is not a cotillion or coming out part for debs, R36. It is an adult fundraiser for, I believe, the Nashville Symphony. There is a collation here, but I forget what it's called.
