Franco isn’t doing horribly, but he isn’t flourishing either, R6. He hasn’t had a legitimate hit (critical or box office) in a long time, and has had far too many art house flops. “The Disaster Artist” will probably get critical acclaim for his performance and might make decent money for an independent, but he should be doing better than that.

His best work really shows talent so I don’t want him to fail, but I wouldn’t claim that “Why Him?” and “King Cobra” are what I’d like for him to achieve either.

Franco just kind of made himself irrelevant. They were pushing him for so long, and so hard, and I do think he is talented, but at this point he'll have to go for supporting roles in movies or some "prestige" tv show. I watched 127 hours on a plane a few days ago - thought it would be boring & morbid (it's about the guy who had to cut off his hand to get out of a ravine he fell into while hiking), but it was surprisingly good. I always forget how talented Franco truly is, I don't know if many other actors could have pulled the role off as well.

..not a movie worth seeking out, but a good way to kill a few hours on a plane, recommend it for that!!
