Datalounge, who are we?

We haven't done a survey in a while, I think. It's November 2017: let's give it a go.

by Anonymousreply 52March 4, 2018 12:23 AM

Also post where you're from if you like.

by Anonymousreply 1November 8, 2017 11:03 PM

All the other options are normal but you go with lesbo? Really? Typical datalounge. I'm sure you'll get all kinds of 'lesbos' responding to your poll.

by Anonymousreply 2November 8, 2017 11:08 PM

I like the brevity of lesbian or lesbo. You don't need to be verbose, combining two different words, to indicate whom you're referring to.

by Anonymousreply 3November 8, 2017 11:10 PM

What qualifies as "Other?"

by Anonymousreply 4November 8, 2017 11:10 PM

I don't see trans woc as an option

by Anonymousreply 5November 8, 2017 11:12 PM

R4 you must be new here. T

by Anonymousreply 6November 8, 2017 11:12 PM

r6 Also straight men, who don't have their own category.

by Anonymousreply 7November 8, 2017 11:14 PM

*differently-abled trans woc

by Anonymousreply 8November 8, 2017 11:15 PM

Um R7? There is a category labeled "straight male". Are straight men a different category than straight male? *smh*

by Anonymousreply 9November 8, 2017 11:17 PM

R2, I started the poll, and I am one of the lesbos. I just have an affection for the word. Whoever used to post under the moniker "lesbaux" amused me as well.

by Anonymousreply 10November 9, 2017 12:27 AM

And for the "others," you tell us. Let us know how you identify, where you're from, or whatever you like. It's nice to know from time to time who our DL brethern and sistren are.

R10, Thanks! I'm glad you have a sense of humor about the terminology.

Straight women from CA

by Anonymousreply 14November 9, 2017 12:42 AM

R13, would you have found the terminology funny if it had said gay female and f*g in place of gay male? Of course, the fact that you couldn't do that because you can't even type that word without getting banned or having your post not show up kind of makes my point. Go ahead and start your 'overly serious lesbian' attacks but words matter and, especially around here, I actually find it sad instead of funny that a lesbian is the one who chose to use the derogatory terminology. The sexist lesbophobia and misogyny on here is thick enough without adding to it ourselves.

by Anonymousreply 15November 9, 2017 12:44 AM

No wonder it stinks like a mackerel cannery in here.

by Anonymousreply 16November 9, 2017 12:46 AM

"Lesbo" is derogatory? I'm one and I call horseshit. Are you thinking of "lezzie" or "dyke"? Not lesbo. That's a great name.

by Anonymousreply 17November 9, 2017 1:23 AM

I concur with R17 and R13--I'm the original poster--I really don't think it's a slur of any sort. (And I appreciate it being more reminiscent of the "Isle of Lesbos.") I think one of our old posters has reclaimed "lez" as her own.

Everyone's a critic.

(I'm from South Florida.)

It's always the same, OP: mostly gay males, followed by a distant straight females. Then "lesbian", who often identify as bi or questioning or queer or something.

by Anonymousreply 28February 7, 2018 2:14 AM

R5, you are "other".

New here? Lesbians are constantly attacked and reminded that DL is a [bold]gay men's[/bold] site.

by Anonymousreply 35February 7, 2018 3:59 AM

Straight "brah" Here for celebrity gossip, music and movie threads. Your bitchy comments can be quite funny too.

by Anonymousreply 37February 7, 2018 4:16 AM

Bisexual woman, NYC (Brooklyn). Got nostalgic for my youth in the 80's and missing all my friends from that era, came here to re-live the catty, bitchy attitude. NOT disappointed.

by Anonymousreply 38February 7, 2018 4:19 AM

Elderstraight in N. Cal. I'm here for movie, book, TV, travel, gossip threads. There are some damn smart, knowledgeable people here. And some ugly souls... but I'm very quick to vaporize people.

by Anonymousreply 39February 7, 2018 4:27 AM

Straight female, now in Texas. Been coming to DL since 2006.

by Anonymousreply 40February 7, 2018 4:55 AM

Oh, I'm mainly here for current events, politics, and the fun petty complaints-type threads.

by Anonymousreply 41February 7, 2018 5:00 AM

I am *triggered* that there is no QTIAPPK representation in your poll, OP.

by Anonymousreply 42February 7, 2018 5:01 AM

Straight female. LA.

by Anonymousreply 43February 7, 2018 5:05 AM

Over 17% straight women? Goddammit, why? Who invited you here you entitled frauen?

Now that I know this everything feels different.

by Anonymousreply 44February 7, 2018 5:40 AM

We need to get more straight bros here.

by Anonymousreply 45February 7, 2018 6:02 AM

Threads about Bette Midler, how many dicks have you sucked and the saga of Aaron Rodgers and Kevin whatsisname isn't gonna help, R45.

by Anonymousreply 46February 7, 2018 11:51 AM

I wish it were gay only.

by Anonymousreply 47March 3, 2018 8:54 PM

I've enjoyed the straight people that have come here--especially when they participate. I remember I started a thread like this some time ago and can't find it after I changed computers. Some of the things I remember;

-A married woman who is devoted to this site talks to her husband all of the time about how fun and funny the site is. She is always after him to take a picture of his penis so that she can post it.

-A straight male loves the humor; "Why should you gay guys have all of the fun"

-A lot of the women liked the theater threads

-A straight male was envious of the "Men showing affection thread"

-Women, (surprisingly) liked the speedo thread

-A lot of women liked the gossip threads

Gay male/NYC

by Anonymousreply 48March 3, 2018 9:12 PM

I just assume everyone I'm replying to is a white gay guy so it would be nice seeing a symbol of some sort that would indicate otherwise. I still think anonymity would be retained but the place would become more colourful that way. I also wonder how many times I've mansplained something to a female poster or... gods... [italic]whitesplained[/italic] something to a PoC. ::shudder:: I do love gaysplaining everything to everyone, though.

I mainly talk to my female friends IRL so it would be nice to know when I'm talking to a straight guy on here as well.

DL is:

80% OLD gay men (it's most telling with the music threads)

10% Lesbians and women.

7% Younger gay dudes.

3% Crazy trolls.

by Anonymousreply 51March 3, 2018 10:22 PM

Bisexual woman, Massachusetts. I like the humor and the diverse topics.
