Michelle Pfeiffer is Going to Sing the Theme Song to “Murder on the Orient Express”

No, I’m not joking. It was just announced. It will play during the credits.

This movie is for old people.

And it doesn't have as many stars as the previous version.

Saw a screening last night. The theme song is actually quite lovely and Pfeiffer sounds good. I bet it gets an Oscar nomination.

The movie itself is just okay. Branagh the director gives Branagh the actor way too much screen time at the expense of the large cast of characters. Pfeiffer is game but the rest of the cast play it so straight it's just not very much fun. I was hoping for the campy delights of Death on the Nile and Evil Under the Sun but no such luck.

I'm missing why you'd think anyone would think you were joking.

No, R1, Old people know better and will watch the original again, instead of another shit remake of an old film.

by Anonymousreply 4October 27, 2017 1:09 PM

It just sounds dreadful, and I am a fan of anything Agatha, Dame.

by Anonymousreply 5October 27, 2017 1:36 PM

Is she writhing around atop the train as she sings?

by Anonymousreply 6October 27, 2017 2:01 PM

The original movie was a bore, despite the production design & the cast.

Judging by the coming attraction, the remake looks even worse.

by Anonymousreply 7October 27, 2017 2:26 PM

What's the name of the song?

by Anonymousreply 8October 27, 2017 5:45 PM

The original was magnificent. The unexpected presence of a world-class detective in their midst enabled the 5-star cast to act as though they’re making up their stories as they go, with a side-eye to viewer. Wendy Hiller carries this off the best, also John Gielgud.

This “movie” is going to be such shit.

Branagh can be so inched tacky when he’s not reined in. Dead Again, anyone?

If only the director could have taken one look at Branagh's mis-cast mustache and told him to change it. I assume there were no mirrors on the set.

*so incredibly tacky

Are there any MODERATORS around here?

This little thread is duplicating that other thread about this little non-event movie.

Why in the world he didn’t cast Olivia deHavilland as the Princess is a complete mystery. She would have been the perfect complement to Ingrid Bergman’s casting in the original. And she would have won the Oscar too. For that reason alone I am boycotting this abortion of a film.

She is SO underrated, love her.

by Anonymousreply 16November 11, 2017 10:51 AM

The song was lovely, but also very sad.

by Anonymousreply 17December 22, 2018 6:14 PM

Why not? I loved her singing in The Fabulous Baker Boys.

by Anonymousreply 18December 22, 2018 6:17 PM

She also sang in "Grease 2"
