Sophie co-directs the striking, intimate visuals for "It's Okay To Cry" with Nicholas Harwood - the song itself is a huge sonic departure from the super-synthetic hyperpop offerings of the Product era. This is a heartfelt ballad with tinges of R&B and '80s pop, with vocal power in spades and a familiar dose of SOPHIE's signature sleek electro for good measure.

I was just about to ask.
I hope I like her voice better than Antony of the Johnsons' voice. Or Rufus', for that matter.

Why can't I understand a word out of their mouth?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | October 19, 2017 1:47 PM |
She's cute but the song doesn't do it for me.
The glimpse of her nips at the end of the video, tho.....ooooooweeeee!

Those cheek implants are ghastly, why do they all insist on that Amanda Lepore/Vadge look?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | October 19, 2017 4:19 PM |
She looks a little like one of the Ru girls. Milk? Or maybe Max.

Did she really put those implants under her skin. Or is that special effect putty?
Totally freaky if she put that into her face.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | December 7, 2017 8:20 PM |
"she" looks so creepy and ugly. and the "song" is shit. Can't believe this is considered cool by today's kids. ewww.

Does she still have a shenis? I guessing it is or was xl. Did she show it to Madonna?

The real name should be "It's not okay to cry if you're a man because if you cry that makes you a woman."
This, recorded 45 years ago, was more progressive:

Product was an odd robotic disc, not pleasurable for my old ears. This ditty above has a certain something lush. So completely different. It seems to have a dash of Years & Years slowed down with later Kate Bush.

The cheekbones are, however, early Bagdanoff brothers.

I still have this song in rotation on my iPhone after 2 weeks. I like the production.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 16, 2017 10:39 PM |
Not in love with this song. I do like "Pony Boy" tho.

SOPHIE’s got a debut album that’s about to drop.
It’s called OIL OF EVERY PEARL’s UN-INSIDES
Just in time for Pride month. Kanye who??

God bless Rosey Grier. Didn't he also take up needlepoint?

Being a woman springs to mind.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | June 5, 2018 5:29 PM |
I don't like Pony Boy and a lot of the avant garde noise I've seen Sophie perform live. I would suit me at least if Sophie's album would be a bit more musical, like this single was.

It's got raves from critics and readers on MetaCritic
by Anonymous | reply 40 | June 16, 2018 9:41 PM |
Don't care much for It's Ok To Cry, but Just Like We Never Said Goodbye is great.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | June 16, 2018 10:03 PM |
The Tori Amos Trolls would love this music
by Anonymous | reply 43 | June 16, 2018 10:20 PM |
Its more avant garde and ugly than a Tori stan could enjoy.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | June 16, 2018 10:32 PM |
Its an interesting record. Like St. Vincent on steroids or a female “Burial.” Sophie is also going to perform at 1720 in Los Angeles in September. Live should be cool.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | June 16, 2018 10:46 PM |
I listened to the new record. It sounds like the result of a total amateur playing with music-making software over a weekend.
Would anyone care about this music if it was made by a guy named Sam and not a trans named SOPHIE?
by Anonymous | reply 46 | June 16, 2018 11:58 PM |
I thought this was about Sophie B Hawkins.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | June 17, 2018 12:01 AM |
Sophie is not an "amateur" but is a too cool for school hipster scenester arty farty producer model singer it-thing of the moment and you would probably resent anyone making any music that sounds like this, R46. Its not my sound either but her dreamier cuts are ok.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | June 17, 2018 12:08 AM |
The videos are completely forward thinking. Live looks performance arty but so what? Edge seems to be uncomfortable at first. I read there is some S n M vibe to it. The reviews are interesting to read.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | June 17, 2018 2:16 AM |
I listened to the album for the first time tonight. Fabulously talented musician, but his monstrous cheek bones implants and his gawky and oh so masculine movements in the PONYBOY and IT’S OKAY TO CRY videos make him seem like a side show freak. I’m looking forward to his future work, but I suspect that his life will not end well.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | January 12, 2019 5:10 AM |
Never heard of them.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | January 12, 2019 5:16 AM |
OP must be Sophie's manager
by Anonymous | reply 53 | January 12, 2019 5:17 AM |
He was an attractive man...he made a mistake getting cheek bone implants and enlarging his lips. I get the impression he knows he fucked up his face, because he always hides behind a wig.
Jocelyn Wildenstein Jr in about 5 years
