With two good looking parents it doesn't happen as often, although sometimes the girl child will inherit her father's looks and even when the father is good looking a man's features usually don't translate well on a female face.

By they way, Donald Trump was never attractive, even when young. He always had a repellent, smarmy look about him that was revolting. But he had money, so it didn't matter, women were still willing to jump into bed with him.

R180 I’m American...most of my family has been here for centuries. But I am according to Ancestry DNA 59% British and my teeth are horrible. Small, very overcrowded, not as crooked as is typical of Brits but certainly not American-straight, and full of cavities even though I brush and floss multiple times a day, don’t drink soft drinks or eat much sugar, etc. Just bad tooth genes, as with my dad (whose ancestors are primarily British). My mom’s side is Irish and German and she never had a cavity to my knowledge and my sister (42) has only ever had one cavity and had big, white perfectly straight teeth. Grrr!

We do have dentists and orthodontists in the UK and teeth whitening, which looks extremely fake and unnatural (especially if you've got a tan) has been popular in the UK for ages. The actors in the 60s/70s who had poor teeth were a result of growing up in postwar Britain where most families were too poor to afford the dentist. The Irish had terrible teeth right up until the '90s, in my experience. Most Brits actually have nice teeth just like most Americans are not morbidly obese and thick as pig shit.

R208 I’m the American guy of mostly English descent with the (by US standards) crooked teeth...and yeah, my family didn’t have dental insurance when I was growing up, which made a difference in the formative years (particularly in not getting orthodontics). But today when I see old movies or foreign news broadcasts, unless the teeth are reallllllly rickety, I usually end up liking the character of imperfect looking teeth. Orthodontics are so expensive, and often they seem scammy—the ortho says braces will be on for 2 years and it ends up being 4 or 6. I have a friend who grew up poor and she got braces in her late 20s because she was self-conscious. The dentist removed four healthy teeth to make room for the others, and then the braces were on twice as long as she was told they would be. She had never had a cavity and got several while the braces were on because they prevented thorough hygiene. The braces finally came off and she had her teeth bleached so you practically need sun glasses to look at her. She honestly looks like she has dentures at age 33. And she will have to wear a retainer for the rest of her life.
