I never heard it before I started reading DL and I lived in Asia. I've also worked around Asian girlfriend-guys for 20 years. Those guys tend to like Asian women because they think the women are submissive and uber-feminine, not because they are shaped like boys.

I don't understand because if anything Asian women are far more feminine (small hands & feet etc) whereas white women and black women are far more acceptably (for a gay androphile) masculine especially an athletic ruler-shaped-body one. Thoughts?

And it took off. People started listing actors and friends they believed to be gay and their Asian wives/girlfriends/dates as proof of the theory.

This was followed by the "soft butch Sou Chef" murder mystery thread, where a closeted married man was murdered in a hotel room in a hook up gone bad while his Asian wife waited at home for him. This was all the proof DL needed for the gay man/Asian wife theory to become fact.

It's a fairly well-known joke stereotype and has nothing to do with being slim like young boys. Stop trying to equate being gay to liking young boys.

The joke stems from several stereotypes about dating Asian women - that they are meek and submissive, that they will do anything to date a white man, and that they are a little naive and a bit dumb. These combine to allow a guy to continue to engage in homo activities with other dudes while still having a "girlfriend" they can present in public.

The Asian girlfriend being too dumb to notice and easily fooled, too meek to say anything if she did notice, and too willing to overlook it to have a white boyfriend.

r3, a lot of asian women are not shapely. There south east asians are more so but the Japanese, Korean and Chinese don't have much body unless they are americanized and have had work done.

I live in quite an asian area and there are a lot of white/asian pairings. I don't think that they are gay men but they are nerdy tech industry, engineering, and math men, and these are the women they meet in that industry of asian -americans. And then there are ugly, dorky men that have a little money and to be honest some of the recently arrived asian woman just want to latch on to a white man because he has some money. Who I think of, in relation to this thread.

For the longest time, mostly back in the 1970's and 1980's, it was assumed a guy was gay if he had an Asian girlfriend, especially one with limited English ability that he was gay and his marriage was a cover on his way to partnership at the firm, or just fitting in with the corporate hierarchy. The marriage was a two-way contract, wife got credit cards and a comfortable middle-class American lifestyle, husband wasn't obligated for sex or could play around on the side. Sometimes they would have kids, sometimes not. Asian women were often considered Machiavellian and willing to play along for the money and status. It's a negative stereotype to be sure.

There is a perception that Asian women are more tolerant of extramarital affairs than other women. If not tolerant, they are resigned to a husband's cheating. "Don't ask, don't tell" and "grin and bear it" are axiomatic in a lot of places. A lot of scumbags take advantage of that. So, r18's theory makes sense. She might be naive or she might be willing to look the other way to keep the peace. I've seen that a lot. It's not a stretch to imagine that the same is true for same-sex affairs as well.

I’m Asian and just my my .02 cents here. From my observation, if the Asian girl is homely and far from being hot then I would noticed that the white guy she’s with almost always ping. I suspected them as closeted who are just using the girl. But if the girl is truly hot, then the guy is more likely really straight.

In my experience, guys with yellow fever are attracted to "Asianness" as an end unto itself, and not the attractiveness of individual Asian women.

I've been involved in Asian Studies for decades-- in the US and in East Asia. White guys who date Asians certainly have a reputation. It's that they couldn't find a white girl to put up with them or that they like subservient women. I'm not saying those stereotypes are true, but they are widespread. The gay thing is limited to DL.
