Thanks!

by Anonymousreply 1September 26, 2017 11:59 PM

What is this show even about? All I've ever seen is that great big fat person and lot's of weeping.

by Anonymousreply 2September 27, 2017 12:16 AM

What are your thoughts regarding Justin Hartley?

by Anonymousreply 3September 27, 2017 12:19 AM

I'm fearing sophomore slump.

by Anonymousreply 4September 27, 2017 1:20 AM

Mopey and whiney.

Yup. This is definitely heading for sophomore slump.

by Anonymousreply 5September 27, 2017 1:49 AM

It was mopey and whiney in year one, didnt stop it from being a huge hit.

by Anonymousreply 6September 27, 2017 1:53 AM

Who watched this shit??

by Anonymousreply 7September 27, 2017 2:21 AM

*watches

by Anonymousreply 8September 27, 2017 2:21 AM

OMG. I cried.

by Anonymousreply 9September 27, 2017 2:29 AM

I bawled. Great great drama.

by Anonymousreply 10September 27, 2017 10:45 AM

I watched four minutes of the pilot and then just said, "oh hell no". Mierda.

by Anonymousreply 11September 27, 2017 10:59 AM

Not since Hootie and the Blowfish have I wished a sophomore slump on something more. God, I hope this show has one.

by Anonymousreply 12September 27, 2017 11:23 AM

R11, you missed the ending.

by Anonymousreply 13September 27, 2017 11:44 AM

Still love the MIlo/Mandy section but I can't stand the older kids.

by Anonymousreply 14September 27, 2017 11:45 AM

Mandy is a cunt.

by Anonymousreply 15September 27, 2017 6:30 PM

Milo's butt appearance again?

by Anonymousreply 16September 27, 2017 6:39 PM

“This Is Us” opened its second season with its highest-rated episode ever, leading Tuesday’s ratings by wide margins. The NBC show earned a 3.8 rating in adults 18-49, topping its previous best of 3.4 for the Season 1 finale. Its 12.64 million viewers is just shy of the 12.84 million for the first-season finale.

by Anonymousreply 17September 27, 2017 6:51 PM

Christ, for a show to get that type of ratings these days is stunning r17.

[quote]It was mopey and whiney in year one, didnt stop it from being a huge hit.

The appeal of the show was always lost on me.

Milo's ass enticed me to watch the pilot, but this definitely isn't my bag.

by Anonymousreply 18September 27, 2017 7:54 PM

TIU < Parenthood < Six Feet Under

by Anonymousreply 19September 27, 2017 8:41 PM

So I just checked out the pilot and Milo's muscles are indeed amazing, but I couldn't get past the 20-minute mark. Too soppy and too straight for my liking.

I did like that obese character, though.

by Anonymousreply 20September 27, 2017 8:46 PM

I strip naked at the 25 minute mark, r20!

by Anonymousreply 21September 27, 2017 8:48 PM

I like the show. I love the going back in time and back to the present. The character development on this show is amazing. For instance, last season, we got to know more of William via a flashback to the '70s and meeting his mother and cousins, etc. They're not regular characters, but they were the focus of that show.

My beef with the Season 2 opener was the legitimization of the Kardashian clan. Kevin's childhood sweetheart Sophie was excited about going to LA (Kevin is an actor) and wouldn't shut up about the Kardashians, as if they were these big time celebrities. She kept going on about going to see their house and hoping to get sightings of them. It was pathetic. Aren't they just reality TV trash?

by Anonymousreply 22September 28, 2017 2:46 PM

The ubiquitous "Black best friend" as the third of the triplets.

That's so Jewish. You can set your watch by Jews and the myth of their intelligence.

by Anonymousreply 23September 28, 2017 2:55 PM

[quote]The ubiquitous "Black best friend" as the third of the triplets.

If you're referring to Randall, he's been the main focus of the show in the present time, and the actor won the Emmy for Best Actor.

by Anonymousreply 24September 28, 2017 3:03 PM

I like how R23 criticized Jews for their ignorance while boldly displaying hers.

[quote]TIU < Parenthood < Six Feet Under

Ain't seen This is Us, but that ranking cannot be true.

by Anonymousreply 25September 28, 2017 3:09 PM

Are you seriously responding seriously to that poster?! Look at it. Nothing but racism and anti-semitism. FF and ignore people. We gotta fuck these nazi cockroaches.

by Anonymousreply 26September 28, 2017 3:10 PM

R25 I haven't done that ranking but do you really find Parenthood and Six Feet Under so bad that you're certain This Is Us has to be better than either?

by Anonymousreply 27September 28, 2017 3:12 PM

Once again lesbians exist in a tv universe, but not gay men. LOL!

by Anonymousreply 28September 28, 2017 3:16 PM

R28 Randall's bio dad is gay (or at least bi) and has/had a longtime partner played by Denis O'Hare. Both were nominated for Emmys.

by Anonymousreply 29September 28, 2017 3:31 PM

They made the black guy gay, which is still a stigma in the African-American community, so we'll see how they'll explore that.

by Anonymousreply 30September 28, 2017 3:32 PM

R27 I was referring to R19's ranking, which is why I used the quote formatting.

by Anonymousreply 31September 28, 2017 3:34 PM

R27 Also, if you notice, I immediately questioned the sentiment.

by Anonymousreply 32September 28, 2017 3:35 PM

I have to say I love it. It rings all sorts of bells for me, the adoption angle, the fat girl, the great marriage, the difficult family dynamics. I think it's a great show and that's why people have responded to it. The two standouts are Milo and Randall. Brilliant nuanced performances.

by Anonymousreply 33September 28, 2017 3:41 PM

R33 the adoption rings true to me, too, though I wasn't adopted as an infant. I was 8, but I came from Central America and was adopted by a white, American family and grew up in a predominantly white town. Talk about adjustment. New parents. New relatives. New friends. New country. New language. New customs. etc. That first year was a challenge, to say the least.

by Anonymousreply 34September 28, 2017 3:48 PM

[quote] The two standouts are Milo and Randall.

Milo is the actor's name; Randall is the character's name. The two standouts are Milo and STERLING.

by Anonymousreply 35September 28, 2017 4:21 PM

I saw an interview with Ron Cephas Jones (William) in which he said that Denis O'Hare would be back this season and they'd be exploring the relationship between William and Jesse.

by Anonymousreply 36September 28, 2017 4:23 PM

R31 I understand what ranking you were referring to and I can recognize quotations formatting pretty well, thank you.

I don't understand your somewhat nasty reply; I merely asked you why you disagree with that ranking that has This Is Us at the bottom and Six Feet Under at the top. Were you that disappointed with Six Feet Under? Or was Parenthood the one that was so bad in your opinion?

by Anonymousreply 37September 28, 2017 4:38 PM

I have a feeling DL hates anything that's feel-good, regardless of quality.

by Anonymousreply 38September 28, 2017 5:41 PM

This thread is filled with fraus

by Anonymousreply 39September 28, 2017 5:45 PM

Milo makes my peen hard.

by Anonymousreply 40September 28, 2017 5:49 PM

Best line of the show. Randall's two daughters pointing out Hillary Clinton lost the election and Randall replies, "Thank you Omarosa and Stacy Dash." LOL!!

by Anonymousreply 41September 28, 2017 5:55 PM

I watch it, but I don't care much for it. It's more out of habit, and I keep waiting to see how Milo dies and Mandy ends up with his best friend.

What I hated this week is how Sterling wanted to adopt a child and his wife goes along with it (although you could see she wasn't into it) up until they go meet with the adoption agency woman. *Then* she pitches a fit about not liking his plan. Passive-aggressive cunt. Like you couldn't have that conversation with your husband before you're talking to the adoption agency?

by Anonymousreply 42September 28, 2017 8:48 PM

[quote]I keep waiting to see how Milo dies and Mandy ends up with his best friend.

Spoilers!

by Anonymousreply 43September 28, 2017 8:57 PM

Those aren't spoilers r43. This has already been revealed in the series.

by Anonymousreply 44September 28, 2017 9:09 PM

Do we think Jack (Milo) dies in the fire that closed out the premiere episode? Or was that just a teaser?

by Anonymousreply 45September 28, 2017 9:47 PM

I don't know. Last season, I thought he got drunk and died in a car crash, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

by Anonymousreply 46September 28, 2017 9:54 PM

I like this show. It's sweet. And quality for a big 3 network. What do they call them now? Anyways, I didn't mean to but I counted 3 scenes where someone gets up from a table because they're upset by a conversation. If there's three scenes where someone storms off from a conversation next week I'm going to revisit describing this show as great.

by Anonymousreply 47September 28, 2017 10:24 PM

They just keep hopping back and forth in time like a Vonnegut novel. It'll never end. Nothing ever resolves. Even if someone dies, we get more and more of them.

by Anonymousreply 48September 28, 2017 10:26 PM

[quote]I didn't mean to but I counted 3 scenes where someone gets up from a table because they're upset by a conversation.

Maybe it's a family trait, like the Bravermans calling each other 'Bud(dy)'?

by Anonymousreply 49September 28, 2017 10:28 PM

[quote] Maybe it's a family trait, like the Bravermans calling each other 'Bud(dy)'?

That could make sense. I'll try to look at it that way... not as, like, script crutches

by Anonymousreply 50September 28, 2017 10:59 PM

No. script crutches.

by Anonymousreply 51September 28, 2017 11:03 PM

it is very sweet.

by Anonymousreply 52September 30, 2017 12:06 AM

I watched i.

by Anonymousreply 53September 30, 2017 4:28 AM

r25 & r 27 that poster was saying This is Us is less than not greater than Parenthood and Six Feet Under.

by Anonymousreply 54September 30, 2017 4:37 AM

Chrissy Metz=Six Feet Wide

by Anonymousreply 55September 30, 2017 3:40 PM

Chrissy = Six Feet Under if she doesn’t do something about her weight. The heart cannot keep carrying that around.

by Anonymousreply 56September 30, 2017 3:57 PM

R56 whose heart?

by Anonymousreply 57September 30, 2017 4:09 PM

Man this show to too pathetic even for the likes of me. And I actually like the first two Bridget Jones movies and cry every time I watch Love Actually!

by Anonymousreply 58October 2, 2017 4:55 AM

R58 see, I could never get the appeal of LOVE, ACTUALLY. I still cringe remembering Liam Neeson and his son re-enacting TITANIC and calling the characters by the actors' names (e.g., Kate & Leo). I also recall a reference to 9/11 which seemed out of place . The whole thing was one giant cornball, IMO.

by Anonymousreply 59October 2, 2017 3:23 PM

If that fire isn't what killed Jack, I'm not watching any more.

by Anonymousreply 60October 2, 2017 4:56 PM

The fire was an insurance scam.

by Anonymousreply 61October 2, 2017 5:51 PM

Are you watching tonight?

by Anonymousreply 62October 4, 2017 12:21 AM

I'll let the TV warm up for an hour before the Lyle and Erik Show. Maybe I'll look at it.

by Anonymousreply 63October 4, 2017 12:35 AM

The real tragedy of this show is that we don't seen enough of Milo's rock hard ass.

I don't get why fat Kate hates her mother - or rather her younger sister in a bad wig.

I think Justin's wife beater should be more fitted on him.

Are they really going to do Justin and his sister in law having a fling?

They did capture what a sitcom taping is like. After 20 minutes, you want to go home.

by Anonymousreply 64October 4, 2017 4:53 AM

The fat chick is a bad actress and Mandy Moore isn't that great either. Is the hot guy supposed to be straight because I'm not getting that vibe?

by Anonymousreply 65October 4, 2017 4:58 AM

R65, which one is the hot guy?

by Anonymousreply 66October 4, 2017 5:09 AM

Anyone have screencaps of Justin in the diaper?

by Anonymousreply 67October 4, 2017 5:56 AM

R66, Milo, Sterling and Justin are all hot, but I think Justin counts as the hot guy on the show because we see his body the most.

Justin's engaged and has a previous marriage and child from that marriage.

I do get a big gay vibe though.

I had sex with women (okay, one girl) in college.

The next night I went out with all the guys and word had gotten around and the leader of the pack said (knowing it was me) 'who among us got laid most recently? THIS GUY (me) did!'

I'll never forget the sense of acceptance I felt.

You can all hate me but I was 20 (and a late bloomer).

But maybe that's how other guys are into their 30s and 40s; they keep fucking women in order to fit in.

by Anonymousreply 68October 4, 2017 7:19 AM

Justin in the diaper was hot. It was actually a cute scene.

I don't see Kevin and Randall's wife having an affair. That would be tacky. I preferred Kevin with the playwright last year. He and Sophie just don't have that much chemistry.

by Anonymousreply 69October 5, 2017 12:04 AM

I laughed at Kate's awful performance.

by Anonymousreply 70October 5, 2017 12:46 AM

I'm still trying to understand why Kate weighed 200 pounds at age 9. Children don't just become that fat, she must have been overfed since infancy to be a pocket whale at that age. Everyone else in that family is norm sized. What did Mandy do, force feed her lard sandwiches because she didn't want the competition?

by Anonymousreply 71October 5, 2017 12:59 AM

What a surprise? Fags hate a nice, loving, family show.

by Anonymousreply 72October 5, 2017 5:23 AM

Not as much as we hate you, R72.

by Anonymousreply 73October 5, 2017 12:09 PM

I think this week we learned that Jack was a Vietnam War veteran and probably suffers from PTSD.

by Anonymousreply 74October 5, 2017 2:44 PM

Crap show

by Anonymousreply 75October 5, 2017 3:25 PM

We knew last year that Jack was in Vietnam.

by Anonymousreply 76October 5, 2017 3:57 PM

I download this to watch, because I cannot handle commercials anymore. I wish, however, they would not use the fucking mawkish #ShareTheMoment graphic during poignant scenes. Can no one enjoy anything anymore unless they are "sharing" it? It really takes me out of the scenes. I do come to this show to be emotionally manipulated, but I look to the writing and characters to do this, not marketers.

Did not like this latest episode, but they have to move the stories along, I guess.

by Anonymousreply 77October 5, 2017 4:00 PM

R72, how retro of you. I will use a classic, too: You are a fucking asshole. But you knew that. Why would you come to a gay site and use slurs unless you were looking to be a cocksucker?

by Anonymousreply 78October 5, 2017 4:02 PM

Horrifically bad show. I can't stand the fat chick.

by Anonymousreply 79October 5, 2017 4:11 PM

It really isn't that good a show, but it isn't "horrifically bad." The thing I hate the most is the very idea that I'm spending an hour a week for 22 weeks watching something in which Mandy Moore could suddenly pop up. She brings me the "horrific."

by Anonymousreply 80October 5, 2017 4:21 PM

I think Mandy Moore should be killed off in the series finale.

by Anonymousreply 81October 7, 2017 1:49 AM

r81 the problem with this show is it doesn't matter if your character is dead... you will still have stories for seasons to come!

by Anonymousreply 82October 7, 2017 1:51 AM

Jack is an awesome Dad

by Anonymousreply 83October 7, 2017 2:00 AM

[quote]I think Mandy Moore should be killed off in the series finale.

That probably won't be for MANY years.

by Anonymousreply 84October 7, 2017 2:02 AM

Ok I am watching Season 1 now.

Justin Hartley was on Michael Myers and I thought he was adorable and charming. He has an amazing body of course. Also, he as a beautiful nose and he has a nice profile, and not all that many actors have that.

He's 40 and looks great, and he's playing a 37 year old on the show. Divorced, hot a teenage daughter.

Total DILF, don't you agree?

by Anonymousreply 85October 8, 2017 8:24 PM

Michael Myers? what was I channelling? Seth Meyers.

by Anonymousreply 86October 8, 2017 8:26 PM

[quote]Total DILF, don't you agree?

SILF, in my case, R85.

by Anonymousreply 87October 8, 2017 8:27 PM

works the same :)

by Anonymousreply 88October 8, 2017 8:38 PM

R88, I could never think of Justin Hartley as a "daddy."

by Anonymousreply 89October 8, 2017 8:40 PM

Well that pretty boy is 40 and a daddy so.....

by Anonymousreply 90October 8, 2017 9:02 PM

Now that makes sense, R90. I thought you were going with the usual DL "daddy" meaning. Sorry.

by Anonymousreply 91October 8, 2017 9:06 PM

Is this the current thread to talk about Season Two?

by Anonymousreply 92November 5, 2017 12:24 AM

I think I hate this show. I just finished watching it via Roku, which was very choppy. There was much more dialog in CC than in the actual scenes, and the scenes were very jumpy. I can't watch it in real time because I have a class, but I find these people so reprehensible. Maybe it's because I'm too old. I remember people hating thirtysomething when I was thirtysomething, and not understanding why. Maybe being age contemporaries of the main characters helps.

by Anonymousreply 93November 5, 2017 12:28 AM

r92 yes. This doesn't seem to be a terribly popular show with the DL.

I've got to hand it to Justin Hartley, though. He's really improved this season and he's giving strong performances.

I also notice the commercials/trailers for the Bad Moms Christmas movie are really playing up Hartley's role (and he's shirtless, which helps).

No more Y&R for him.

by Anonymousreply 94November 5, 2017 12:30 AM

It occasionally makes me cry, but in a very manipulative way.

by Anonymousreply 95November 5, 2017 12:31 AM

Could anyone read what Miguel typed at Rebecca in his Facebook box?

How big a TV do I need to be able to read texts and Facebook posts from 15 feet away?

by Anonymousreply 96November 5, 2017 12:34 AM

He was just typing Hey, congrats! How are you?

She hesitated, then replied a banal greeting.

They will reconnect, it seems.

by Anonymousreply 97November 5, 2017 12:35 AM

Thank you, R97.

by Anonymousreply 98November 5, 2017 12:56 AM

I'm mixed on this show. It's not horrible, but it was over-hyped last season. The only storyline I like this season is Randall and his wife taking in the foster child.

by Anonymousreply 99November 5, 2017 1:27 AM

Huh; that's the only story line i don't like; delinquent teen; instant drama!

by Anonymousreply 100November 5, 2017 1:29 AM

The ‘flashback’ scenes of Kate having a one night stand with the married man were particularly awkward. It’s like everyone in those scenes are pretending she’s not morbidly obese, including the married guy.

by Anonymousreply 101November 5, 2017 1:57 AM

Yeah, I thought it would end up being some kind of dogface sex dare, and his friends would laugh at her.

by Anonymousreply 102November 5, 2017 1:59 AM

Milo plays the DILF. Woof!

by Anonymousreply 103November 6, 2017 1:20 AM

R101, I figured large girls are his type, and that his awkwardness arose from the fact that he's cheating on his wife, and his friends know his wife.

by Anonymousreply 104November 6, 2017 1:26 AM

I'm calling it now Kevin will almost die of an OD.

by Anonymousreply 105November 10, 2017 1:37 AM

Y&R, keep Adam open!

by Anonymousreply 106November 10, 2017 1:45 AM

This week’s episode was brilliant. Love both actors who play William.

by Anonymousreply 107November 10, 2017 2:06 AM

Randall and his wife have gotten annoying

by Anonymousreply 108November 10, 2017 2:25 AM

I think I am done with This Is Us. My Roku wants me to register its code number again, and I just don't feel like bothering, as I find the Pearsons unpleasant. Jack is the only one I like, and he dies. And fuck the rest of them.

by Anonymousreply 109November 10, 2017 2:27 AM

Is there anyone on this show for me?

by Anonymousreply 110November 10, 2017 2:30 AM

YST maybe you would like Justin Hartley, he's a bit yellow

by Anonymousreply 111November 10, 2017 2:31 AM

Thanks a lot, R111. Just a bit? I might not commit to watching it if he’s just a bit yellow.

by Anonymousreply 112November 10, 2017 2:41 AM

I was going to suggest Justin Hartley, too. Watch the show. You decide.

by Anonymousreply 113November 10, 2017 2:46 AM

[quote] I was going to suggest Justin Hartley, too.

Why Justin, R113? Thanks,

by Anonymousreply 114November 10, 2017 2:49 AM

by Anonymousreply 116November 10, 2017 3:01 AM

You would know best, R116.

by Anonymousreply 117November 10, 2017 3:05 AM

Someone on DL who met Justin in person at a party said he was arrogant and had skin the color of sandpaper.

by Anonymousreply 118November 10, 2017 3:07 AM

oh, well, someone on DL said they met him!

I used to work on Passions. He's a good guy.

I don’t want to waste my time watching a show if there’s not a guy I’m attracted to in it. DL posters help with that. Barbara Bush and I have at least one thing in common.

by Anonymousreply 124November 10, 2017 7:28 PM

You've wasted more time posting here than it would have taken you to look at Justin somewhere, r124.

by Anonymousreply 127November 10, 2017 8:34 PM

I prefer Milo as the cool dad

by Anonymousreply 128November 10, 2017 10:28 PM

Kate will probably have a miscarriage which is Emmy bait for Chrissy Metz.

by Anonymousreply 129November 11, 2017 2:14 AM

The guy who plays young William is cute.

by Anonymousreply 130November 11, 2017 4:54 AM

The scene at the end where Delroy Lindo and the judge who pardoned William comparing notes if either had done any good should have had the two characters in bed together.

by Anonymousreply 131November 12, 2017 5:39 PM

All three of the adult "kids" annoy me. I don't mind them as kids in the flashbacks, but as adults they bug the piss out of me.

[quote]Kate will probably have a miscarriage which is Emmy bait for Chrissy Metz.

[quote] Girl's gotta eat, you know.

Yes. We’ve seen the show and are not blind.

by Anonymousreply 134November 14, 2017 3:48 AM

Milo seems to be the most popular so they have put themselves in the position that they have to keep writing flashbacks with him

by Anonymousreply 135November 14, 2017 5:36 AM

They also need to put themselves in the position of making him show his ass.

by Anonymousreply 136November 14, 2017 5:43 AM

Show blows. sappy soap shite. Only reason to watch is Justin, who is not gay and I seriously doubt he ever had the dick.

Justin started on Passions, where he was very popular. Several shows later he landed on the delicjous Revenge where he proved he can act. Great scenes with Madeline Stowe. Loved his butch interpretation off his gay character.

by Anonymousreply 137November 14, 2017 6:09 AM

Is he yellow?

by Anonymousreply 138November 15, 2017 1:48 AM

Kevin fucking the frau.

by Anonymousreply 139November 15, 2017 1:51 AM

R136 is correct

by Anonymousreply 140November 15, 2017 1:57 AM

R129 is clairvoyant

by Anonymousreply 141November 25, 2017 3:54 PM

Okay, who didn’t cry with the last episode?

by Anonymousreply 142November 25, 2017 4:03 PM

I, myself, did not.

by Anonymousreply 143November 25, 2017 4:05 PM

I didn't, R142. I have never rolled my eyes more over a TV show than I do this one. I should like it. I liked Parenthood. I loved thirtysomething. I loved, loved, loved A Year in the Life. But the only Pearson i can stand is Jack.

by Anonymousreply 144November 25, 2017 4:14 PM

I didn’t cry. Chrissie Metz is as good of an actress as she is a singer. I like the guy who plays her boyfriend, though.

The only present-day storylines that interest me involve Randall’s family.

by Anonymousreply 145November 25, 2017 6:00 PM

R137, for someone (Justin) who's not gay your post contains the word 'gay' twice and the word 'Passions' once.

We sure he's not?

by Anonymousreply 146November 25, 2017 6:15 PM

[quote]Milo seems to be the most popular so they have put themselves in the position that they have to keep writing flashbacks with him

No. Milo has always been the first-billed star of the show. Those aren't really "flashbacks," they're just his storyline during the time he was alive.

by Anonymousreply 147November 25, 2017 8:33 PM

I thought Milo was despised on DL.

by Anonymousreply 148November 25, 2017 8:46 PM

How’s the white guy with the yellow skin doing on the show?

by Anonymousreply 149November 25, 2017 10:20 PM

Milo and Sterling K. Brown are the best actors on the show. Chrissy Metz isn't a bad actress, but she didn't deserve an Emmy nomination last year. I think she'll get shut out of Emmy nominations in July.

by Anonymousreply 150November 25, 2017 10:35 PM

The show hasn't been as good since they killed William off. They keep trying to insert him into the stories with flashbacks but it doesn't work as well.

by Anonymousreply 151November 26, 2017 3:05 AM

Chrissy Metz is so fat its distracting. When she's on screen that's all you see. And she's not a good enough actress to overcome that

by Anonymousreply 152November 26, 2017 4:28 AM

I think they said when the show launched that Kate was going to lose weight and when I heard that I was like YIKES there's some pressure on the actress to lose some pounds.

by Anonymousreply 153November 26, 2017 4:53 AM

I like teenage Kevin. He's dreamy.

by Anonymousreply 154November 26, 2017 5:46 AM

I agree, r152. And the other characters in scenes with her act oblivious to her size. Literally ignoring the elephant in the room.

by Anonymousreply 155November 26, 2017 6:20 AM

My mother stopped watching because of Metz, she said she is so huge it makes her nervous.

by Anonymousreply 156November 26, 2017 3:56 PM

So many of you are "sizists".

by Anonymousreply 157November 26, 2017 4:25 PM

I am, R157.

by Anonymousreply 158November 26, 2017 4:44 PM

They aren’t dealing with her obesity in a realistic manner. Everyone around her acts like she’s the size of Rebel Wilson.

by Anonymousreply 159November 26, 2017 4:58 PM

It's also not realistic that a guy (even fatty and ugly like Toby) would want to have sex with her.

by Anonymousreply 160November 26, 2017 5:04 PM

There's no point in grieving over any character if they're just going to flip back and forth in time endlessly.

It's like a Vonnegut novel + a Hallmark sympathy card.

by Anonymousreply 161November 27, 2017 7:06 PM

no one watching anymore?

by Anonymousreply 162January 12, 2018 1:00 AM

This week's episode is one of the few I've enjoyed. I wished they could have gone into all the detail they'd've been able to if it were a daytime soap. Once a week doesn't make the same impression. How many eps a year?

by Anonymousreply 163January 12, 2018 1:02 AM

Yeah, it was the best episode so far. I think they're having 18-episodes seasons, R163.

by Anonymousreply 164January 12, 2018 1:04 AM

It is such a frau show, but I love it. And I usually like grittier Breaking Bad type shows.

by Anonymousreply 165January 12, 2018 1:04 AM

[quote]I think they're having 18-episodes seasons, [R163].

It's not enough. Not with all the back and forth in time with so many characters.

by Anonymousreply 166January 12, 2018 1:07 AM

I think they have shorter seasons due to budget reasons. It probably costs a pretty penny to shoot all those flashbacks with old cars, props, and specially made clothes.

by Anonymousreply 167January 12, 2018 2:17 AM

Well, it fucks with the storytelling, r167. I don't know why people have latched on to this show the way they have. If this were Guiding Light, we'd be talking about Justin's addiction/rehab story for weeks. This is what I liked about soap opera.

by Anonymousreply 168January 12, 2018 9:21 AM

Go back to your soap opera threads, then, honey. Have another drink at the bar set next to a non-existent wall, and talk toward the camera with your back turned to the other actor, again.

by Anonymousreply 169January 12, 2018 7:08 PM

I watched and really enjoyed Season1 but stopped watching. I have enough shit happening IRL, so emotional manipulation for entertainment doesn't appeal to me. R137, what season of Revenge was he in? Another show I loved, but quit watching midway through Season 2 when it got ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 170January 12, 2018 7:16 PM

Justin and Sterling have been fantastic the last few episodes. I think Justin's work doesn't get enough credit.

by Anonymousreply 171January 12, 2018 7:18 PM

Sterling's character has become too self righteous

by Anonymousreply 172January 15, 2018 7:36 AM

Yep. Can't stand Randall and his bitch wife. The girls are ok though, especially the little one.

by Anonymousreply 173January 15, 2018 12:19 PM

[quote]Can't stand Randall and his bitch wife.

Admittedly, I'm a homosexual male, but I don't see how he puts up with her cuntitude on a daily basis. And Tubitha isn't much nicer.

by Anonymousreply 174January 15, 2018 12:32 PM

Actually, Randall and Jack are the only ones I think I could be around long-term.

by Anonymousreply 175January 15, 2018 12:32 PM

[quote]Sterling's character has become too self righteous

I was thinking this too. I really can't stand the relationship of Randall and mommy Rebecca. I totally get why Kevin and Kate call them out on it.

by Anonymousreply 176January 15, 2018 1:29 PM

R168 Which is why soaps are dying. The unnecessary repetition of the same conversations on the same subject is boring and makes the story boring, IMO.

by Anonymousreply 177January 15, 2018 2:06 PM

Justin gets overlooked because he's too good looking. He's actually a damn good actor. And he's not my type so this isn't a fanboy critique.

by Anonymousreply 178January 15, 2018 5:19 PM

They forget smoke detector batteries at the mall.

by Anonymousreply 179January 17, 2018 3:02 AM

They should just have Randall and Kevin do every scene with their shirts off.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 180January 17, 2018 3:19 AM

[quote]They forget smoke detector batteries at the mall.

Oh, THAT's what that meant.

by Anonymousreply 181January 17, 2018 3:21 AM

Cathy Moriarty played the superintendent in William's building. She and Sterling K. Brown had a really beautiful scene together where she described what William was like as a tenant.

by Anonymousreply 182January 17, 2018 3:41 AM

Is Jack going to die in a fire?

by Anonymousreply 183January 17, 2018 5:40 AM

R171, I agree; I thought Justin pretty much phoned in his work on Y&R in that Adam was a heavy, but Justin just played him as....Justin.

Adam's the guy who walks into a room and everyone's uneasy that he's in the room; what's he going to do next?

Justin played it so nice he gave Nick Newman a run for his money.

But he's hitting it out the park on This Is Us and he deserves and Emmy nom. If he doesn't get one it's because people think that life is too easy for him. That's too bad. He's doing a great job.

by Anonymousreply 184January 17, 2018 6:04 AM

Lesson of the story- Don't accept used crockpots from old people.

by Anonymousreply 185January 24, 2018 3:51 AM

I was given a used crockpot. I have never used it, or any other crockpot. I'm just not a crockpotter. And now, double-never.

by Anonymousreply 186January 24, 2018 1:25 PM

Justin Hartley is turning some terrific work this season, wasn’t too sure about him in season 1, but he’s Emmy worthy this year for sure.

Is Randall supposed to be bipolar? It seems like he jumps from one big idea to the next and Beth comes across unsure but then she goes for it. I feel like she should be putting the breaks on some of his ideas: foster child, etc. hopefully they will follow more with why Tess was hiding in Kevin’s car.

by Anonymousreply 187January 24, 2018 1:41 PM

Justin is a great actor. His work on Revenge as the gay son of Victoria also is Emmy worthy. He has been on several series starting with Passions. And how interesting he SEEMS the most successful person from the large cast of Passions. Justin is very handsome yet seems approachable, like a regular guy. Hopefully Justin will get his OWN series and ultimately movies. He's better than many male movie stars in his age range.

by Anonymousreply 188January 24, 2018 2:09 PM

I liked the dog who played Audio. Boxerhuahua?

by Anonymousreply 189January 24, 2018 2:11 PM

So, Dad and the dog died in the fire.

Are they gonna drag that out all next season?

Funny how NO character EVER mentioned that, except adopted son having a burnt-out-house flashback when he visited his old home.

When will this be over?

I love it, but it's torturous.

by Anonymousreply 190January 24, 2018 6:26 PM

R189, I damn near burst into tears when Kate said she wasn't taking Audio home. I felt so bad for the puppy the way seemed to understand that he wasn't going home with her. Then when she DID bring him home, I DID cry! Anyone else think Jack died going back in the house for the dog? I'm guessing that's why Kate has always said his death was her fault.

Can't believe I have to wait 2 weeks for the "episode that will explain it all!" You just know the "Big Game" will go long and we'll then have to watch the trophy ceremony.

by Anonymousreply 191January 24, 2018 6:30 PM

Yes, obviously Milo/Dad went back in to save the dog and then they both died.

I know many people who have experienced such disasters. They don't go through a single DAY without bringing it up.

These are some repressed characters, and some manipulative writers and show-runners.

by Anonymousreply 192January 24, 2018 6:38 PM

There's something unseemly to me about teasing along how a major character died but I guess with today's fragmented viewership, whatever works.

by Anonymousreply 193January 24, 2018 6:47 PM

The old couple should be punished somehow for giving away that shitty crockpot. #JusticeforJack

by Anonymousreply 194January 24, 2018 9:56 PM

Killer Crock-Pots From Hell!

by Anonymousreply 195January 24, 2018 10:25 PM

If a Datalounger had written that episode, it would've been a grease fire.

by Anonymousreply 196January 24, 2018 10:55 PM

R196, I wonder if mommy bloggers on Frau boards regularly tell one another to die in a Crock-Pot fire?

by Anonymousreply 197January 24, 2018 11:51 PM

I wonder if we'll also discover that mom, Kate, and Randall all have some physical scar and Kevin does not which makes him feel even more guilty. Have we seen Mandy Moore's arms when its present day???

by Anonymousreply 198January 24, 2018 11:59 PM

[quote]I wonder if we'll also discover that mom, Kate, and Randall all have some physical scar and Kevin does not which makes him feel even more guilty. Have we seen Mandy Moore's arms when its present day???

I don't think they were injured in the fire. In the season 2 premiere there was scene of Kate and Randall crying in Miguel's house after the fire and Kate said she had to find Kevin to tell him that Jack was dead.

by Anonymousreply 199January 25, 2018 4:00 AM

So now that Kate is getting over her guilt over her Dad dying, will she start to lose weight? I'm an emotional eater and I'm starting to forgive myself for things I've done in the past.

by Anonymousreply 200January 25, 2018 1:22 PM

Since the actress obviously can't lose weight, the character won't either.

by Anonymousreply 201January 25, 2018 8:06 PM

[quote]Sterling's character has become too self righteous

I have thought that since season 1. But, they made him out to be too perfect as compared to Kate and Kevin and yes, he has become more self-righteous this season.

by Anonymousreply 202January 25, 2018 8:07 PM

Of all the present day characters, Beth is the only one I enjoy since she appears to find the others as annoying as I do!

by Anonymousreply 203January 25, 2018 9:01 PM

I like the dog.

by Anonymousreply 204January 25, 2018 9:24 PM

[quote]he landed on the delicjous Revenge where he proved he can act.

Never delicious. Not even edible by the time he arrived. It should have ended when she crossed everyone off her list. Instead, ABC gave us a giant mess of a shitstorm.

by Anonymousreply 205January 25, 2018 10:08 PM

I like both dogs. The little black and white terrier mix reminds me of a friend's dog whom I used to adore (and she, me).

by Anonymousreply 206January 25, 2018 10:09 PM

R203, I keep expecting Beth to ask for a divorce, especially now that Randall has roped her into fixing up an apartment building a hundred miles from home.

by Anonymousreply 207January 25, 2018 10:12 PM

Am I the only one who really likes Beth? The Beth/Randall storylines are consistently strong (William, Déjà, nervous breakdown, etc.), and I like the back-and-forth between them, even when it's tense. The actors have great chemistry, IMO.

And I agree with all the posters upthread saying that Justin Hartley is turning in Emmy-worthy work this season. Kevin's downward spiral and the ensuing chaos showed Hartley has some serious acting chops that were not evident in season one.

by Anonymousreply 208January 28, 2018 11:06 PM

r209 I like Beth but I do feel Randall's stories are becoming very self righteous and most of Beth's stories are tied to Randall. I hope we see more 'solo' Beth stories.

by Anonymousreply 209January 29, 2018 12:50 AM

R208, I quite like Beth. Honestly, she has a lot of patience for a spouse, especially because it seems like Randall steam rolls past her. I’m surprised she has not seriously lost her shit on him. r209, solo Beth stories would be great. Compared to Toby, she’s under developed and the actress is good, give her more to do.

by Anonymousreply 210January 30, 2018 11:42 AM

r210. Agreed. I loved the scene where she spoke about what the loss of William meant to HER.

I also liked the scene where she, Toby and Miguel shared. It was nice to get them away from the family.

by Anonymousreply 211January 30, 2018 5:03 PM

[quote]I also liked the scene where she, Toby and Miguel shared. It was nice to get them away from the family.

Likewise! I'm hoping the producers opt for more flashbacks of non-Pearson characters (the way they did w/ William, to tell his back story).

by Anonymousreply 212January 30, 2018 5:12 PM

Why don't they put more effort into realistically aging Miguel for the present day scenes. The makeup people from Waiting for Guffman laugh at it.

by Anonymousreply 213January 30, 2018 5:54 PM

Still no gay male characters?

by Anonymousreply 214January 30, 2018 7:43 PM

Seriously, r214, you’d think it was from Jason Katims.

by Anonymousreply 215January 30, 2018 9:59 PM

So far, they’ve just had William as a bi-sexual. And Lena Waithe who played the shelter adoption counselor last week mentioned having a wife. But that’s it. Maybe we can find out Beth was raised by two dads ?

by Anonymousreply 216January 30, 2018 10:02 PM

Don't forget William's lover, Jesse (played by openly gay Denis O'Hare.)

by Anonymousreply 217January 30, 2018 10:39 PM

Well, we know Miguel had kids with his first wife. Maybe, we will finally see them and one will be a gay guy.

by Anonymousreply 218January 30, 2018 11:53 PM

I could only watch the first three episodes. I felt it was manufactured melodrama.

by Anonymousreply 219January 30, 2018 11:59 PM

and if they keep dancing around dad's death, it'll never end.

by Anonymousreply 220February 2, 2018 10:14 PM

Actually, I think the producers were smart to stretch out the mystery of Jack's death for a season and a half -- during that time, viewers have seen (bit by bit) how his death has rippled through the lives of his family for two decades, and how it's shaped his kids.

As well, and probably more importantly, it's given viewers time to grow to love Jack and his family. We've seen what a great dad he was and how loved he was, flaws and all. Had they revealed him dying in fire early on in the series, it wouldn't have had nearly the emotional impact (for viewers) it will now.

For me, it's been like watching William through season one. I knew he likely wouldn't be alive by season's end, and I didn't know when or how (exactly) he was going to die, but I grew to love the character and cried ugly tears during the Memphis episode as a result.

by Anonymousreply 221February 2, 2018 10:42 PM

This after Super Bowl death of Jack is so overhyped it is bound to disappoint

by Anonymousreply 222February 3, 2018 7:56 AM

It's going to be on so late on the east coast that I think many people won't watch it in real time.

by Anonymousreply 223February 3, 2018 4:24 PM

[quote]I grew to love the character and cried ugly tears during the Memphis episode as a result.

Yep. I re-watched it a few weeks ago and cried ugly tears all over again.

by Anonymousreply 224February 3, 2018 4:32 PM

Another show with lesbians but no gay men in sight. Zzzzzzzzzzz

by Anonymousreply 225February 3, 2018 8:59 PM

I think you mean "Another show with gay men but no lesbians in sight."

by Anonymousreply 226February 3, 2018 9:01 PM

I want Justin Hartley to be gay

by Anonymousreply 227February 3, 2018 9:22 PM

They are hyping the shit out of tonight's episode. I hope it delivers.

by Anonymousreply 228February 4, 2018 5:30 PM

R192, yeah. I was in for like my fourth doctor's visit over this damn flu that's going around; they asked my symptoms and either they asked or I offered 'depression.'

On a follow up, the doc said why are you depressed; I said my father died.

She said when?

I took a four second pause and then answered: 1967.

by Anonymousreply 229February 4, 2018 5:36 PM

R227, maybe he is?

I always use as an example that guy who was the governor of NJ; married twice, two kids, and he says he's gay.

Not 'bi' - not I experimented; but GAY.

There are men who will live and die living straight lives.

It'd be so ironical if that were Justin as he appears to have it all.

by Anonymousreply 230February 4, 2018 5:38 PM

Tonight:

🐶 🔥 💨 🐖 😭

by Anonymousreply 231February 4, 2018 6:11 PM

What does that mean, R231?

by Anonymousreply 232February 4, 2018 6:15 PM

Jack goes back in to save the dog, dies from the fire & smoke. Kate cries.

by Anonymousreply 233February 4, 2018 6:19 PM

Jack dies of smoke inhalation? So the little black boy will get fostered by Randall's family?

by Anonymousreply 234February 5, 2018 3:01 AM

R234 Yup. I'm already predicting a sad end for the new foster child.

by Anonymousreply 235February 5, 2018 3:11 AM

The Dad seemed OK but died at the hospital. First time I watched the show...the actor who played the Dad was really cute

by Anonymousreply 236February 5, 2018 3:35 AM

I watched the show tonight for the first ever, and it was as if it were specially created for the nation's frauen. It celebrated the paramount importance of family dogs, photo albums, and home VHS tapes!

It was like gargling with simple syrup.

by Anonymousreply 237February 5, 2018 3:42 AM

WTF I wanted them to foster that cute little boy, now they have that girl back again. BOO

by Anonymousreply 238February 5, 2018 3:46 AM

The part with future Tess working with foster children was just dumb twist.

by Anonymousreply 239February 5, 2018 3:55 AM

Oh, THAT's what that was? Thanks, r239.

by Anonymousreply 240February 5, 2018 4:02 AM

I was confused at the end when the little boy was going off with the white couple and Randall was nearby but wearing different glasses. I hit rewind on my DVR and then caught onto Randall saying the name Tess.

by Anonymousreply 241February 5, 2018 4:06 AM

I wanted the little boy to join their family as well. Not that I don't like Deja, but I felt that story was wrapped up appropriately.

by Anonymousreply 242February 5, 2018 5:01 AM

want to feel better about Jack - a fictional character - dying? but this will make you feel worse.

a real-life dad died saving his son from an aqueduct in Los Angeles - the kid's only nine, so in addition to all the guilt and grief he'll feel, he'll have no dad to help him through his teen years, his young adult life, the rest of his life....

my dad died at an even younger age and it just fucks you up for life.

when a dad dies, the family either comes together like they do on This Is Us or they don't ....

If this was a daytime soap in season six it would be revealed that Jack faked his death because he was being blackmailed.

by Anonymousreply 244February 5, 2018 2:41 PM

Lol, right R244. We'd also learn that Kate and Kevin, while twins, have different daddies. Miquel would be Kevin's father.

R237, it's important to see the show from at least the first episode. If you still think it's for the "nation's frauen", so be it. I enjoy it. Beth rules!

by Anonymousreply 245February 5, 2018 3:04 PM

r237 demonstrates all the insight of a regular simple syrup consumer.

by Anonymousreply 246February 5, 2018 3:06 PM

I haven't watched yet. So Jack goes in to save the dog? And they both die?

by Anonymousreply 247February 5, 2018 3:07 PM

The dog survives. I wonder how they treat the dog now.

by Anonymousreply 248February 5, 2018 3:10 PM

Kate will probably eat it.

by Anonymousreply 249February 5, 2018 3:12 PM

r249 God will get you for that, Rose.

by Anonymousreply 250February 5, 2018 3:13 PM

[quote]a real-life dad died saving his son from an aqueduct in Los Angeles

Hesperia is not Los Angeles.

by Anonymousreply 251February 5, 2018 3:23 PM

I thought the episode was good but somehow very predictable and perfunctory. The shot of Mandy at the door and Jack lying in the bed on the glass was very effective.

I thought Beth was hilarious this episode. She provided much needed comic relief. I love her character and hope she gets more of her own stories.

by Anonymousreply 252February 5, 2018 3:56 PM

R182, hard to believe that's Nurse Nan. She's really brilliant in PATTYCAKE, as a grandmother. Good for her!

by Anonymousreply 253February 5, 2018 4:02 PM

R246, and it would also turn out that the third triplet (Kyle) didn't die! He is actually the alcoholic and has been playing Kevin since Kevin melted down on the set of the Manny. Kevin is actually living in rural Maine with his boyfriend.

by Anonymousreply 254February 5, 2018 4:06 PM

R254 was directed at R245.

by Anonymousreply 255February 5, 2018 4:07 PM

r253 yes, so glad to see Cathy getting more roles again. Wonderful actress. And love that voice.

by Anonymousreply 256February 5, 2018 4:14 PM

r256 She's also on the Versace show as a pawnshop owner.

by Anonymousreply 257February 5, 2018 5:01 PM

I see a lot of posts of people who don't like Toby but I think the guy is a saint for putting up with all of Kate's bullshit

by Anonymousreply 258February 6, 2018 2:28 AM

Caught up with the past 4-5 episodes over the weekend so I would be prepared to watch the post Super Bowl episode. I noticed what seems to be a continuity error.

In the 1998 scenes, Jack and Rebecca's kitchen has stainless steel appliances and black granite counter tops. Neither of those were especially common in 1998. They didn't become popular until the early 2000s. While the stainless steel appliances and black granite counter tops obviously were around 1998, they were both expensive and I've never gotten the impression that Jack and Rebecca were loaded.

Also in 1998, Jack would have been 53 years old -- he turned 36 on the day the twins were born and he died when they were 17. But they sure don't make him up to look 53. Milo is 40 years old in real life and no matter what era they set the scene, Milo looks like he's 40. Only thing that seems to change in the various eras is his facial hair.

Similarly, they don't seem to be doing much to make Rebecca look different in the various ages (aside from her wig). Mandy Moore is 33 in real life and that's what she looks like when she's in the present day scenes when she's supposed to be playing 60 years old.

But given had poor a job they do with the aging make up for Miguel (Jon Huertas), I guess Milo and Mandy are lucky they've limited the aging process to their hair.

by Anonymousreply 259February 6, 2018 9:15 AM

UGH. Ebonics girl is back. Barf.

by Anonymousreply 260February 7, 2018 3:49 AM

I wish the mother would have died in the fire too.

by Anonymousreply 261February 8, 2018 11:18 PM

I kind of wonder how the show would be if the creators decided to kill Rebecca and not Jack.

by Anonymousreply 262February 9, 2018 2:05 AM

No one would care.

by Anonymousreply 263February 9, 2018 2:07 AM

Why would it make any difference? They never go away.

by Anonymousreply 264February 9, 2018 2:28 AM

From the previews, we're going WAAAY back in time to see Milo in Vietnam.

by Anonymousreply 265February 9, 2018 2:28 AM

We will probably see Jack's brother die. I bet the writers will have the brother die in Jack's arms just so the female viewers will cry.

by Anonymousreply 266February 9, 2018 2:36 AM

This last episode was boring with a capital B.

by Anonymousreply 267February 9, 2018 2:37 AM

I will cry, too, R266.

by Anonymousreply 268February 9, 2018 2:37 AM

Its back on tonight, bitches!

by Anonymousreply 269February 27, 2018 5:08 PM

Milo's ass needs to come back.

by Anonymousreply 270February 27, 2018 5:11 PM

Go Beth! Drag Randall's self-righteous ass (and Kate's).

by Anonymousreply 271February 28, 2018 1:36 AM

Randall would get on my last nerve, I don't blame Beth for getting sick of him and "The Big 3"

by Anonymousreply 272February 28, 2018 10:19 AM

Deja is backzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

by Anonymousreply 273March 8, 2018 3:19 AM

Is This Is Us still yellow?

by Anonymousreply 274March 8, 2018 3:28 AM

It's like 'Slaughterhouse Five.' We'll never stop jumping around in time, ever!

by Anonymousreply 275March 8, 2018 3:57 AM

Ugh enough of Deja, wish they would just concentrate on the 2 daughters they already have.

by Anonymousreply 276March 8, 2018 5:32 AM

The little one hasn't been see on screen for quite some time. I love her.

by Anonymousreply 277March 8, 2018 9:13 PM

I bet Mandy Moore's character suffers a stroke or heart attack in the finale and flat lines and sees "Old Jack" and then the screen goes black.

by Anonymousreply 278March 8, 2018 10:24 PM

What did you think of this week's story of Deja episode?

by Anonymousreply 279March 11, 2018 11:40 PM

Vomit-inducing.

by Anonymousreply 280March 11, 2018 11:47 PM

The actress who plays Deja, Lyric Ross, did a good job but it felt rushed.

by Anonymousreply 281March 12, 2018 12:47 AM

[quote]Lyric Ross

Lol.

by Anonymousreply 283March 12, 2018 2:05 AM

Is Lyric Ross related to Diana? Don't care to google it, wish that storyline would die but I think they are trying to be more urban

by Anonymousreply 284March 12, 2018 5:33 AM

Season finale tonight!

by Anonymousreply 285March 13, 2018 10:07 PM

The Deja centric episode was a bit much. I like the Deja character, but having her as the focus of the ENTIRE episode was overkill. If the Deja story had been part of an epsode that featured the family more prominently, it would have been more tolerable. As it was, the Pearsons had little more than a cameo in this episode.

by Anonymousreply 286March 13, 2018 11:00 PM

She looks like a barrel in that wedding dress

by Anonymousreply 287March 14, 2018 1:47 AM

Mandy Moore saying that Kate looked "stunning" was.... well, the screenwriter tried.

by Anonymousreply 288March 14, 2018 1:54 AM

I'm guessing Deja ends up in prison as an adult.

by Anonymousreply 289March 14, 2018 12:34 PM

Ugh Deja, kill that storyline with fire

by Anonymousreply 290March 15, 2018 6:22 AM

I suspect it is one of the other daughters and not Deja who ends up in prison as an adult.

by Anonymousreply 291March 15, 2018 2:15 PM

R291 Adult Annie is in prison for killing Beth. That would be such a juicy storyline.

by Anonymousreply 292March 15, 2018 2:56 PM

While they were both working the pole.

by Anonymousreply 293March 15, 2018 5:29 PM

Enough with the death of the father already. She brings the urn to the wedding? Does anyone care about Deja?

by Anonymousreply 294March 15, 2018 5:41 PM

Toby's parents were right to want him to run, not walk, from this family!

by Anonymousreply 295March 16, 2018 12:05 AM

r295 I have my doubts as to whether Toby can actually run.

by Anonymousreply 296March 16, 2018 12:11 AM

One of the worst soap operas of all time. Put Justin in micro briefs constantly and I will watch.

by Anonymousreply 297March 16, 2018 1:06 AM

Isn't Deja going to prison for breaking the car window? She's shown that she's okay with stealing from a store. Murder is the next logical step in the progression. Randall needs to let his obsession go and enjoy the family he has.

by Anonymousreply 298March 16, 2018 1:14 AM

I pretty much want Jack to be my dad.

Except for the booze.

That's why a lot of people watch the show.

by Anonymousreply 299March 16, 2018 1:48 AM

I want Kate to be my sister. Then even if I gain 150 lbs., I'll still be "the skinny one."

by Anonymousreply 300March 16, 2018 2:08 AM

Deja and her mom are terrible stereotypes. These characters show the writers know so little about being poor and even less about dysfunctional families. Every story abut these people is not the same. How typical to see Deja wants what Randall and his perfect family have, yet she's so damn bitter, ungrateful and resentful. This is certainly not new ground, we've seen this topic being depicted the same exact way many times before. Deja is the worst part of this show.

One would assume the writers interviewed a few social workers and others who deal with poor and dysfunctional people about their actual family dynamics. Not everyone is a scam artist, some truly want to end the cycle if dysfunction, violence, drugs and whatever else is keeping them down.

If Randall is so concerned about the poor, more focus should be on the property he bought and how he's helping the poor people in that building. Did I miss an episode, does he still own the building?

by Anonymousreply 301March 16, 2018 2:18 AM

Wendy Malick told Deja she looked like her father, Randall. Clearly Wendy had no idea Deja was a foster child. Instead of ignoring Wendy's stupid racist segment, she goes outside, then proceeds to destroy someone's windshield. Very poor writing,

by Anonymousreply 302March 16, 2018 2:21 AM

Who would be obsessed with the Justin character?

by Anonymousreply 303March 16, 2018 2:42 AM

If you pay close attention to Justin he just acts very gay to me - my gaydar pings off the charts when he is on. I think Justin Hartley is gay and deeply closeted and trust me when I say it is not because I want him to be. Sterling on the other hand...

by Anonymousreply 304March 16, 2018 2:46 AM

Is Justin a coward?

by Anonymousreply 305March 16, 2018 3:02 AM

Justin Hartley has a 16 year old with his first soap opera actress wife, Lindsay Korman, and IIRC, he just had another baby with his current soap opera wife, Chrishell Stause.

Do deeply closeted men usually have kids with two different woman. Of course, you answer would be via in-vitro blah, blah.

A lot of straight men seem gay and a lot of gay men seem super straight, sometime it's difficult to tell.

by Anonymousreply 306March 16, 2018 8:18 AM

Disappointing to see almost all the flash-forwards were sad/depressing. That means next season will be one downer after another.

Toby suffering from depression a year after marrying Kate, Randall and Tess (years in the future) presumably getting ready to see "her" (Beth? Annie? Deja?) in a prison/a hospital/a cemetery.

Only Kevin and Beth's cousin en route to Vietnam (?) seemed remotely positive. Maybe Jack's brother *wasn't* killed in Vietnam, after all?

by Anonymousreply 307March 16, 2018 12:47 PM

This is us - we get the “entertainment” (and presidents) we deserve.

by Anonymousreply 309March 16, 2018 1:15 PM

R307 Wouldn't you be suffering from depression after being married for a year or whatever time it was, to whiny, needy "it is all about me" Kate? Looks like Toby's parents were right.

by Anonymousreply 310March 16, 2018 1:54 PM

I only watch it to see how much fatter that gal is. and pray that she gits her stomach stapled soon fore she has stroke.

TURN TO THE LORD, MARY

by Anonymousreply 311March 16, 2018 1:57 PM

[quote]Wouldn't you be suffering from depression after being married for a year or whatever time it was, to whiny, needy "it is all about me" Kate? Looks like Toby's parents were right.

I agree the parents were right. That storyline also shows a very real life double standard in which adult men's parents' concerns about wives and girlfriends are ignored because men are always pressured into defending their wives and girlfriends even if they are messes. Kate is a total emotional mess.

by Anonymousreply 312March 16, 2018 2:27 PM

Wasn’t Kate’s massive weight gain caused by her remorse and guilt over her dad’s death? Yet in the fantasy sequences she is still hefty. They should have gotten another actress to play her in the fantasy sequences.

by Anonymousreply 313March 16, 2018 2:32 PM

What we saw at the end (depressed Toby and juvenile delinquent Deja) is the visual version of "what's the worst that can happen?" game that Randall and Kevin were playing. I doubt any of these are actually going to happen next season.

by Anonymousreply 314March 16, 2018 2:41 PM

R314, I hope you're right! (It's also a nice way for producers to get themselves out of those story ideas now if, indeed, that's what they were really planning.)

by Anonymousreply 315March 16, 2018 3:29 PM

I think some of the storylines are made up as they go along. In the finale, we learned Beth's family took in the cousin and raised her as their own. But, that didn't come up in the season premiere where Beth suggested they foster or adopt older kids instead of infants.

by Anonymousreply 316March 16, 2018 9:44 PM

Toby's depressed because Kate sat on the dog and squashed it to death.

by Anonymousreply 317March 16, 2018 10:08 PM

Ugh that ugly cunt Deja. Damn she is nasty.

by Anonymousreply 318March 18, 2018 3:22 AM

R306, Chrishell is not pregnant; she has not had a baby.

Personally, I think Justin pings quite a bit.

He and Thad Luckinbill presented at the Daytime Emmys on year back in Justin's PASSIONS days. Mario Cantone did a wrap up on The View on the Monday after and he was pretty funny, calling the two hotties gay porn stars.

Plenty of gay men get married and have kids. And some even get married again.

Look at that ex-governor of NJ; wed twice. Two daughters. Gay American.

Do I think every guy is gay? No. (I, too, think Sterling is far hotter.) But if I had to guess on Justin, I'd say yeah.

Too bad. He's a sweetheart, I'm sure.

by Anonymousreply 319March 18, 2018 4:46 AM

go to 1:47

Ironically, Mario says no one will ever remember their names.

(It is funny when Thad forgets The View.)

Thad's produced Oscar winning movies.

Justin's on a huge nighttime hit show.

Milo's the one for me

by Anonymousreply 321March 19, 2018 4:26 AM

Meh premiere. I wish they would get rid of Toby.

by Anonymousreply 322September 26, 2018 3:40 AM

This is one of the most shiteous shows ever made. Its appeal escapes me.

by Anonymousreply 323September 26, 2018 3:41 AM

I tried watching it because I'm a sick fuck and sometimes I can watch dramas and find them funny but this was just horrible. Such sap.

by Anonymousreply 324September 26, 2018 4:37 AM

Does the fatty keep dating the man fatty?

by Anonymousreply 325September 26, 2018 4:38 AM

When Jack first appeared in the episode, I thought they had pulled a Bewitched and switched Darrens. Milo's face is so different!

by Anonymousreply 326September 26, 2018 6:02 AM

I didn't like the fact that the fertility doctor changed her tune so easily. At first, when she rejected Kate and Toby, I thought, "Oh, interesting, the show is going for some hard truths...", only to have them backpedal before the end of the hour.

Though, I guess now we know how/why Toby is off his meds.

by Anonymousreply 327September 26, 2018 9:23 PM

I was half paying attention, what happened when they went ahead in time? The overweight woman Kate wasn't at home, was she in the hospital? Then her brother, the black brother, Randall, called her husband Toby to come see her.

I gather Milo Ventimiglia is going to continue on the series, especially as now they're going to continue showing all the character's backstories, as well as going ahead in time.

I suspect many here cannot get into this series because there are no gay characters, if the hot white brother was gay, I'm sure most of the complainers would be on board.

This a great show, a little soppy at times, but the acting is great.

by Anonymousreply 328September 26, 2018 10:21 PM

R338 some people actually watch TV shows with no gay characters at all - and they're gay!

by Anonymousreply 329September 26, 2018 10:43 PM

Randall's biological father, William, was gay.

However, William died at the end of the first season.

by Anonymousreply 330September 26, 2018 11:23 PM

R329 is from the future. Creepy.

by Anonymousreply 331September 26, 2018 11:32 PM

I cried again.

by Anonymousreply 332September 26, 2018 11:33 PM

They already did that on THE SOPRANOS, R317.

by Anonymousreply 333September 26, 2018 11:47 PM

r328 you really think it's the lack of gay characters that puts people here off on the show? I don't think so. I think it's the trite shit and the schmaltziness of it all.

by Anonymousreply 334September 27, 2018 12:09 AM

Also, I fail to see the appeal of Milo with that grecian formula dark hair and Dirk Dastardly mustache, he looks creepy.

by Anonymousreply 335September 27, 2018 12:12 AM

I like Randall's wife and her cousin.

by Anonymousreply 336September 27, 2018 12:16 AM

r327 Wait so they didn't tell her her enormity is impeding her pregnancy? Such bullshit, docs are dicks about that. I know someone who is like 50 pounds overweight and her doc is telling her that's why she can't get pregnant.

by Anonymousreply 337September 27, 2018 12:21 AM

[quote]Randall's biological father, William, was gay. However, William died at the end of the first season.

I watch the series, I forgot about William being gay. I do remember when his lover spent time with him before he died. Wasn't he actually bisexual? Didn't he tell Randall he liked men and women?

I see a lot of whiners at DL, especially in these TV series threads complaining that lots of shows don't have enough or any gay characters. Then, if there is a gay character, the whiners will complain the character is "too stereotypical", for some people there's no winning, just whining.

This series can be very sappy, but the acting is great and there's diversity, so, viewers sure cannot complain about lack of diversity.

by Anonymousreply 338September 27, 2018 2:58 AM

Denis O'Hare played William's boyfriend

by Anonymousreply 339September 27, 2018 3:02 AM

Here you go, this is from a thread about a new ABC show which premiered tonight, I just skimmed through the thread and found this: "Sorry, make that three boring straight guys. I forgot one of them offed himself."

I know I'm not seeing things. If a show only features straight characters, some DL-ers simply won't give it a chance.

by Anonymousreply 340September 27, 2018 3:07 AM

The first episode of the new season was a disappointment. I know that they made Deja a regular. but her story was more than played out last season. There's nothing new or interesting to tell about her. It's boring to keep rehashing that she had a hard life and is still troubled. The hooking up between Kevin and the sister is just silly contrivance. Jack and the wife's first date was the only redeeming part.

[quote]I didn't like the fact that the fertility doctor changed her tune so easily. At first, when she rejected Kate and Toby, I thought, "Oh, interesting, the show is going for some hard truths...", only to have them backpedal before the end of the hour.

I agree. It was absurd manipulation to change the outcome. Rather than having Kate in a realistic situation, they made it so that she only had to endure being sad for a short time before being reassured that she could keep the weight and still get what a normal sized person could have. It would have been a better story for her to have to choose between having a baby or having her regular buffet.

by Anonymousreply 341September 27, 2018 4:10 AM

[quote]Wait so they didn't tell her her enormity is impeding her pregnancy?

They did... and then the doctor -- who had been very frank and fairly emotionless -- had a last-minute change of heart because, in her words, she's supposed to be about "making the impossible possible, not making it more impossible."

Okay so let her have a kid then and then that kid will end up wiping her ass and doing everything for her ala "My 600 Pound Life". I mean they can ignore it would be hard for her to conceive but once she has a kid she won't be able to do anything with it because of her crippling obesity.

by Anonymousreply 344September 27, 2018 3:38 PM

I watched the first three episodes of season 3 and I'm betting Kate will end up having a stroke or health issues once she has that kid.

by Anonymousreply 345October 11, 2018 1:15 AM

How does Kevin tan so well?

by Anonymousreply 346October 11, 2018 1:22 AM

This show sounds like a trainwreck.

by Anonymousreply 347October 11, 2018 1:45 AM

It's sort of an entertaining trainwreck for me. I like the scenes/stories set in the past. The problem for me is in the present day storylines characters like Kate and Randall rarely own up to their flaws. Kevin is the only likable character in the present day. Randall's storyline of buying that apartment building and fixing up is pretty awful and shows that he's a sanctimonious blowhard.

by Anonymousreply 348October 11, 2018 1:54 AM

[quote]Randall's storyline of buying that apartment building and fixing up is pretty awful and shows that he's a sanctimonious blowhard.

A wealthy person actually giving back to their community is a blowhard? Who are you, Trump? Taking down actual good people?

Randall knows he's blessed with intelligence, talent, a great family and a job he loves, why not try to help others? Plus, isn't the building the same one his biological father lived in? So there's that connection.

by Anonymousreply 349October 11, 2018 4:00 AM

[quote]Randall's storyline of buying that apartment building and fixing up is pretty awful and shows that he's a sanctimonious blowhard.

Isn't the building in Philadelphia? And doesn't Randall live in Alpine, NJ? And he's going to run against that councilman?

by Anonymousreply 350October 11, 2018 6:56 AM

Will Kate have triplets?

by Anonymousreply 351October 11, 2018 6:57 AM

r351 she already looks like she's carrying triplets, realistically I would think it would kill her

by Anonymousreply 352October 11, 2018 7:01 AM

I'm wondering how the show is going to handle the flashbacks as the kids playing the pre-teen and teen versions of Kevin, Randall and Kate are very obviously getting older.

by Anonymousreply 353October 11, 2018 12:23 PM

Without even making an issue of her wait, she should be adopting anyway.

by Anonymousreply 354October 11, 2018 1:52 PM

R354 yes I'm aware weight is spelled incorrectly

by Anonymousreply 355October 11, 2018 1:53 PM

Her wait for what, r354?

by Anonymousreply 356October 11, 2018 1:53 PM

OMG. I'm crying already.

by Anonymousreply 357October 17, 2018 1:03 AM

Why should she be adopting r354? It's not easy having a kid and it's not fair to a kid to have a mother who is limited so much and has a short life span due to shitty health and bad choices. Give the kid to two gay dads who are active and healthy.

by Anonymousreply 358October 17, 2018 1:13 AM

Milo's character had a younger brother?

During wartime, I thought the military never accepted two or more brothers at the same, especially in the same branch of the service?

by Anonymousreply 359October 17, 2018 1:23 AM

Is the whole show going to be about Vietnam?

by Anonymousreply 360October 17, 2018 1:30 AM

R359 has never seen Saving Ryan’s Privates.

by Anonymousreply 361October 17, 2018 1:32 AM

WTF are you talking about R361? Years ago, the military would never accept siblings, because an entire family could get wiped out.

Read and learn.

by Anonymousreply 362October 17, 2018 1:42 AM

Based on the previews from last week, this week's episode looked skippable.

by Anonymousreply 365October 17, 2018 2:22 AM

by Anonymousreply 369October 17, 2018 3:39 AM

Since Milo is so popular they need an excuse to keep him on the show so expect more Vietnam flashbacks

by Anonymousreply 370October 17, 2018 4:40 AM

Kate's still huge

by Anonymousreply 371November 4, 2018 1:30 AM

[quote]Since Milo is so popular, they need an excuse to keep him on the show, so expect more Vietnam flashbacks.

If Milo/Jack were no longer part of the show, I would likely give it up. His children give me hives, and I have never taken to Mandy Moore. I would love it, love it, love it if Michael Angarano were suddenly front and center every week.

by Anonymousreply 372November 4, 2018 10:14 AM

I can't warm up to Mandy Moore either. Something about the way she talks, like her tongue is too big for her mouth, is annoying.

by Anonymousreply 373November 5, 2018 8:50 AM

I wish Kate would dress up as Ima Wiggles for a Halloween episode

by Anonymousreply 374November 6, 2018 2:57 AM

Any thoughts on the fall finale?

As soon as they cast Michael Angarano as Nicky, I knew [SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVEN'T YET WATCHED] that him "dying" in Vietnam was metaphorical.

by Anonymousreply 375November 30, 2018 10:04 PM

That's what I thought, too, r375. But now we find out Griffin Dunne is playing present-day Nicky. Bummer.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 376November 30, 2018 10:08 PM

Well, to be fair R376, trying to convincingly "age" Michael Angarano via makeup into someone in his late-50s/early-60s would have been really difficult and probably cringe-worthy.

by Anonymousreply 377November 30, 2018 11:02 PM

They've done it with everyone else, r377, including Mandy Moore.

by Anonymousreply 378November 30, 2018 11:18 PM

Yes, but it's not convincing, either. Mandy Moore *looks* like she's wearing bad aging makeup. And I think it would have been even harder, given Angarano's voice and baby face (he looks 16)... especially since his character is presumably going to play a more significant role in the present-day timeline than Rebecca does.

Kevin (and, I would guess, Randall and Kate) will be looking to Nicky to fill some kind of paternal/Jack void, and no amount of makeup would have had audiences buying Michael Angarano as a father figure to Sterling K. Brown or Justin Hartley or Chrissy Metz.

By contrast, the majority of Rebecca's story is told in the past (so Mandy Moore plays her age); in the present-day timeline, she only appears on occasion.

Griffin Dunne is the better choice.

by Anonymousreply 379December 1, 2018 12:05 AM

Then why the whining about Angarano = metaphorical death only, r379?

by Anonymousreply 380December 1, 2018 12:07 AM

No whining -- just pointing out that I suspected the character would be more significant, narratively, than just a passing mention, and have a longer stay on the show than just a three-episode storyline set in Vietnam because they cast a name actor in the role. AND made such a big deal about it when he was cast.

They will obviously be following the character for many years post-Vietnam (in flashbacks): what happened? where did he go? how did he wind up living in a trailer? etc., which means he wouldn't "die."

So, Angarano will still be around in plenty of episodes as young(er) Nicky, just not as "old Nicky."

by Anonymousreply 381December 1, 2018 12:17 AM

I think Mandy Moore is a better actress as the older Mom than her younger self. She always seems tired and exhausted by life. Her younger, "real" age Mom isn't that convincing.

by Anonymousreply 382December 1, 2018 12:56 AM

When did Kevin get a Black girlfriend?

by Anonymousreply 383December 2, 2018 12:36 AM

I’ve never watched I hope it’s on demand

by Anonymousreply 384December 2, 2018 1:01 AM

[quote]Griffin Dunne is the better choice.

Really? He looks NOTHING like Michael Angarano.

How about these casting people do their fucking jobs and hire an older performer who resembles the younger performer? I see this all time in TV shows and in films. Relatives usually never resemble each other and the older versions of characters rarely resemble each other.

by Anonymousreply 385December 2, 2018 1:34 AM

This third season is a turd. I'm not coming back for season 4.

by Anonymousreply 386December 2, 2018 9:25 PM

I skipped the "Milo Goes to Vietnam" episode completely based on the previews. Five episodes later, they are still milking that way too much information storyline.

DEAR GOD MAKE IT STOP!!

by Anonymousreply 387December 3, 2018 3:35 AM

[quote]Really? He looks NOTHING like Michael Angarano.

I said the "better choice" (between GD and having Angarano made up to look older), not the "perfect" choice. Obviously, it would have been great if the casting team could have found a strong actor of the right age, who also happens to look like Angarano... but, let's face it, that's needle-in-the-haystack tough and could have taken forever.

Resemblance aside, GD will be a more convincing 50/60something than Angarano ever would, for the reasons I cited earlier.

by Anonymousreply 388December 3, 2018 12:39 PM

OMG Justin Hartley the Bad Moms Christmas he plays a stripper with a huge cock who has his balls and taint waxed. He looks HAWT

by Anonymousreply 389December 6, 2018 7:26 AM

Is this the fat people show?

by Anonymousreply 390December 6, 2018 7:30 AM

r389 sentences can write.

by Anonymousreply 391December 6, 2018 8:54 AM

Are we stil watching?

by Anonymousreply 392January 26, 2019 12:30 AM

I'm watching mainly so when other people at the office talk about it I can chime in. But to me they can't get the charm of the first season back.

by Anonymousreply 393January 26, 2019 4:56 AM

Yep. But the latest episode, with Nicky's story finally revealed, was good. I shed a few tears when they showed young Nicky dreaming of becoming a surgeon and having money to buy nice houses for him and his brother, and the stark reality of Nicky living in a rundown trailer.

by Anonymousreply 394January 26, 2019 6:42 PM

^^ Agreed. And I thought they did a convincing job making Griffin Dunne the older Michael Angarano.

I also wonder what the endgame is for that character (in the minds of the producers). Will he be integrated into the Pearson family somehow, or just appear on a handful of episodes and then ride off into the night?

by Anonymousreply 395January 26, 2019 6:53 PM

[quote] I thought they did a convincing job making Griffin Dunne the older Michael Angarano

Yes. Griffin's demeanor and body language were totally reminiscent of the other actor who portrayed young Nicky. Excellent work.

[quote] Will he be integrated into the Pearson family somehow, or just appear on a handful of episodes and then ride off into the night?

I think it will be only a handful of episodes.

I thought Jack was too harsh in cutting all contact with Nicky. Wow.

by Anonymousreply 396January 26, 2019 7:17 PM

Nicky seems too far gone to be able to trust to live with Randall's family and even though Kevin wants to help him I don't think Nicky wants help, he just wants to keep drinking.

by Anonymousreply 397January 26, 2019 9:54 PM

Nicky is broken and Kevin wants to fix him.

by Anonymousreply 398January 27, 2019 12:36 AM

Does this show make you cry? Is it on tonight?

by Anonymousreply 399January 30, 2019 1:50 AM

Ellen's show is dropping in the ratings so NBC is forcing a full night of primetime of her ridiculous show down our throats. I watched the ABC comedy shows tonight, and will tune in for a new TIU episode next week.

by Anonymousreply 400January 30, 2019 2:02 AM

No mew episode tonight. It comes back next week (Feb. 12)

by Anonymousreply 401February 5, 2019 9:33 PM

*new

by Anonymousreply 402February 5, 2019 9:34 PM

They better not fill up the night with more of Ellen's show again.

by Anonymousreply 403February 5, 2019 9:39 PM

Cancel this. Have one hour of total nudity of Justin. And bring back Midnight Texas. HOT guys.

by Anonymousreply 404February 10, 2019 5:11 PM

Still no gay characters?

by Anonymousreply 405February 10, 2019 5:18 PM

New episode on now

by Anonymousreply 406February 13, 2019 1:03 AM

Boring. Mandy Moore is okay as the younger Rebecca but sucks as the older mom

by Anonymousreply 407February 13, 2019 2:22 AM

Griffin Dunne was pretty good as the disturbed Vietnam vet drunk.

Randall and Kate going to the Indian family's house where their old home once stood, was kind of weird. Honestly, not many people would allow two random strangers to enter their home or apartment. I sure wouldn't.

by Anonymousreply 408February 13, 2019 8:43 PM

Randall has gotten irritating as shit, wish his wife would have dumped him

by Anonymousreply 409February 14, 2019 3:53 AM

Griffin Dunne did an excellent job as old, broken Nicky. It was very touching. Kevin is the best. The other Pearsons are annoying as fuck.

I liked how the Nicky storyline ended realistically, with Nicky still clinging to his damaged ways, even if there is a promise of change in the futur. It would be stupid to have him find love & acceptance with the long lost aand move in with them. But damn, it was hard to watch.

by Anonymousreply 410February 14, 2019 11:42 AM

[quote]Well, to be fair [R376], trying to convincingly "age" Michael Angarano via makeup into someone in his late-50s/early-60s would have been really difficult and probably cringe-worthy.

More like late 60s/early 70s. Jack was born in 1944; Nicky is just a few years younger.

by Anonymousreply 411February 18, 2019 8:37 PM

No one cares about this show anymore? Come on! I just finished watching it from the beginning. Is everyone just sick of it?

by Anonymousreply 412February 21, 2019 7:40 PM

It's a less than stellar season, R412, thus generating fewer interest & comments

by Anonymousreply 413February 21, 2019 8:15 PM

Bump for new episode

by Anonymousreply 414March 7, 2019 4:21 AM

Show is on a decline.

Hated the Vietnam stuff — don’t care about Jack’s brother. Kate is having ANOTHER meltdown over her baby. I’m over it. Don’t care. Kevin is drinking AGAIN. Randall is AGAIN telling Beth to take a back seat with her pursuit of dreams.

The rut is real.

by Anonymousreply 415March 7, 2019 4:50 AM

Yep.

Season 1 - A+

Season 2 - B-

Season 3 - D

by Anonymousreply 416March 7, 2019 11:53 AM

I can’t watch this show it makes me sad and I cry. It triggers my grief.

by Anonymousreply 417March 7, 2019 4:47 PM

It won't trigger you anymore.

by Anonymousreply 418March 7, 2019 7:50 PM

Last season there were comments online how the Deja-centered episode was the least favorite because most of the cast wasn't in it. But at least it had Pam Grier and a couple good music montages.

by Anonymousreply 419March 7, 2019 10:05 PM

Deja looks way older then junior high. I love the 2 daughters but sick of Randall and Beth and never liked Deja.

by Anonymousreply 420March 7, 2019 11:29 PM

Du yu vu This Is Us?

by Anonymousreply 421March 7, 2019 11:33 PM

Deja looks old enough to be Annie and Tess's mother.

by Anonymousreply 422March 8, 2019 12:48 AM

Deja is a stereotype, the type of rebellious angry sullen teenager we've seen so many times before.

by Anonymousreply 423March 8, 2019 1:09 AM

[quote] Deja is a stereotype, the type of rebellious angry sullen teenager we've seen so many times before.

Or do we think we’ve just seen her before?

by Anonymousreply 424March 8, 2019 1:10 AM

The best part of that episode was when the cop evicted Deja and her mom to "Darkest Light" by Jono Mccleery.

And the fat lady has a baby.

by Anonymousreply 426April 4, 2019 1:03 AM

I thought the season finale was a dud, and then they gave us Mandy Moore on her death bed! It made it a little better.

by Anonymousreply 427April 4, 2019 2:44 AM

Mandy's character isn't dying any time soon. Before this last season started the performers did announce that this season would be spanning different decades and also going in the future. Obviously next season, Mandy's character will still be alive. Didn't you notice how grey Randall's hair was?

In the future scene, I couldn't figure who the little boy was, was that Kate's kid? I thought she had a girl or she actually has another baby?!

by Anonymousreply 428April 4, 2019 8:23 PM

The little boy running around is Kevin's future kid. Clearly he waits a while to be a dad, and since the kid is white, it seems that he and the black girlfriend don't rekindle their love. Sad, she was hot.

by Anonymousreply 429April 4, 2019 8:42 PM

What are the skin colors of the primary characters?

by Anonymousreply 430April 4, 2019 8:48 PM

R428 Kate had a boy, named Jack.

by Anonymousreply 431April 4, 2019 8:56 PM

[quote]What are the skin colors of the primary characters?

I'll pick a primary color for you: BLUE

by Anonymousreply 432April 4, 2019 11:58 PM

[quote] I'll pick a primary color for you: BLUE

I like blue.

by Anonymousreply 433April 5, 2019 12:01 AM

The episodes from the first and second season were not all great, but each one would have a good scene or moment that made the show seem worth watching.

The third season doesn't have the same engaging quality.

by Anonymousreply 434April 5, 2019 3:52 AM

I actually thought the finale saved the season -- loved the Beth/dance studio reveal, Déjà's speech, Kevin's speech to Tess, etc. And the last five minutes were great, IMO.

Also, I thought for sure Kate finding Rebecca's notebook in the PICU would reveal that Rebecca was already "forgetting" things and having to write them down. I thought Kate would flip through all the instructions for baby Jack and then find that Rebecca had also written down notes on simple things that would not require notes (e.g., how to make coffee, how to find her way home, etc.), hinting at her early Alzheimer's.

by Anonymousreply 435April 6, 2019 1:14 AM

I still really like the show and look forward to it every week. The girl playing Deja did a great job with her big scene, and Justin Hartley continues to impress.

by Anonymousreply 436April 6, 2019 2:16 AM

Toby is not even that fat and that’s a fat suit.

Sorry but I disagree with Justin being impressive. He’s one note. The only episode he was good in was his solo one last season. Other than that he acts like he’s on a daytime soap.

by Anonymousreply 439April 6, 2019 4:35 AM

Well, Justin's real life wife is/was on a daytime soap! Perhaps he gets his acting inspiration from her. She's a terrible actress! She brings new meaning to words 'wooden acting'.

by Anonymousreply 440April 6, 2019 8:22 AM

Justin doesn't need inspiration from his wife. he was on a daytime soap himself.

by Anonymousreply 441April 6, 2019 10:11 AM

I hope Beth and Randall go through with moving to Philadelphia. It's the only thing that can de-idiocize that storyline.

by Anonymousreply 442April 6, 2019 12:48 PM

One of Randall's daughters identifies as a baby dyke now. The flash forward scene was a bit jarring imo.

by Anonymousreply 443April 19, 2019 2:09 AM

Why, was there heavy lesbo action, r443?

by Anonymousreply 444April 19, 2019 12:03 PM

Three more seasons.

by Anonymousreply 445May 12, 2019 5:32 PM

I’m glad it was renewed. I like it very much. Excellent writing and good characters. Good acting. Seeing Milo and Justin is a big plus.

by Anonymousreply 446May 12, 2019 5:35 PM

Ugh. The first season was good. The second and subsequent were terrible. It's become a frau fest.

And Sterling has become so smug and self-righteous and over the top with his acting.

by Anonymousreply 447May 12, 2019 5:39 PM

Ugh a weird premiere

by Anonymousreply 448September 25, 2019 2:48 AM

[quote]And Sterling has become so smug and self-righteous and over the top with his acting

I agree with this. I can't stand him in season 2 and 3. I hope he tones down the over the top acting.

by Anonymousreply 449September 25, 2019 3:38 AM

Anyone watching this anymore? I’m not sure why, but I’m still catching episode a day or two after their air.

by Anonymousreply 450October 30, 2019 10:34 PM

I’m watching it now and getting anxious that Randal is being groomed by his teacher and Jack is suspicious.

by Anonymousreply 451October 30, 2019 10:41 PM

How’s the white guy with the yellow skin doing on the show?

by Anonymousreply 452October 30, 2019 11:56 PM

I don’t think they are using a real blind baby actor for baby Jack.

by Anonymousreply 453January 15, 2020 2:02 AM

I watched the season 4 finale. I'm tired of the constant St. Randall storylines.
