Yeah, they went on too long but isn't it the fault of the producers rather than NK or EM? It's not like the music started and they said "wait I'm not finished," demanded the music stopped, and continued to speak. In those situations people lose the concept of time and a minute flies by. Always seems to me the majority of winner on award shows (unknown to A List) continue with their speeches until the cue to wrap it up starts.

I don't dislike Nicole Kidman--she pursues riskier material than most other actresses at her level, and she can be quite good in the right role. That being said, I don't enjoy hearing her speak publicly. She comes across as rather self-important and a bit entitled. Sorry to break it you, Mrs. Urban, but winning an Emmy isn't going to do much to help women suffering from domestic abuse.

In Kidman's defense, it's true she did not deserve the award over Lange, but she couldn't help it that she benefited from the most political Emmys ever. Almost every award was given for a political or affirmative action reason instead of merit. It was great for the award winners, but it really sucks for all the talented people who should have gotten an award last night but didn't .

It also killed whatever credibility the Emmys had left, R58. I honestly feel bad for a lot of the winners. There will always be quotations around these wins. It isn't clear if they got it on merit or because of their POC status.

And those films (To Die For, Portrait of a Lady) were released during the height of Cruise's popularity and power in Hollywood.

Even assuming that the Cruise-Kidman marriage was a sham contract, he couldn't have promised an Oscar and she wouldn't have needed that guarantee no matter her ambition. Being the wife of a Hollywood megastar even with the promise of a Rita Wilson level career would have been all she needed to sign on the dotted line.

I think Nicole deserved it for Big Little Lies which was an interesting and timely show with a very hot topic right now - domestic abuse. I only watched a couple episodes of Feud and I can see myself eventually trying to catch up on the rest but I didn't find it as compelling. It felt like the actresses were playing dress up. Another mistake was hiring Susan Sarandon who's become more & more toxic lately. Anyone associated with her was bound to burned too.

It's not Nicole's fault that the This is Us star got played out. It was the camera man who decided to do that disgraceful long shot. I'm not sure what Sterling did to piss off the camera man but that was incredibly rude.

R84, you said it far better than I could. Must be something in the air today. I left Fb, months ago, and left an article and picture of Robert Mercer on the page to alert people. More than a few friends emailed me to tell me I was paranoid. I take no satisfaction in having the last laugh when I know how dangerous social media really is. I lasted on Twitter for about a week after quickly discerning how damn mean Twitter 'culture' is.

We get some of that on DL too, but at least on DL you can tell them to shut up and sit down or ignore them.

R84 last month, after RAY DONOVAN started its 5th season, I went on YouTube to see any current interviews with him regarding the show. In my quest, I came across a clip when he was on Ellen last summer to promote the 4th season. Though I don't watch her, I normally enjoy Ellen's videos, because they can be hilarious and the comments just as funny. HOWEVER, the comments for this particular video were toxic! A lot of them are accusing LIev Schreiber of pedophilia/incest. Very recent comments, too. I was like WTF? Isn't defamation a dangerous thing, as far as legality? I'm surprised Ellen hasn't disabled the comments.
