Why are so many teens into body building?
by Anonymous | reply 599 | October 24, 2020 12:02 PM |
Fortunately no one will post photos of minors on this site to be ogled by adults

R1 Eh hopefully this doesn't into a pedo thread
by Anonymous | reply 2 | September 4, 2017 12:55 AM |
Given that teens have been into bodybuilding for years, R2, I'm afraid that's exactly what it is.
SAMBLA, but you know, with an N

They want pussy. Duh.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 4, 2017 1:04 AM |
Boys develop earlier now. Millennials have bigger cocks on average than previous generations. Straight boys are expected to shave their body hair or they won't get pussy or blown by girls. The girls are sluts, but don't call them that, it's slut-shaming. Six pack abs on a teen boy who looks like a grown man is not shocking. Again, boys develop at an earlier age now. That's why when I hear about these female teachers fucking their students, I have to remember that boys today don't look like boys of previous generations. They look like men.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 4, 2017 1:12 AM |
Blame hormones in meat and dairy.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | September 4, 2017 1:13 AM |
My students-most of them male & female exercise, but look at me as if I'm crazy when I suggest that they read a book over the summer.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 4, 2017 1:27 AM |
Develop early r5? Wtf man, they don't look like that naturally, it takes a lot of work.
The gym body on men is big in popular culture. All these guys grew up looking at Marvel superhero movies with all of their perfect pecs and abs, turn on CW or MTV and you see guys with ripped gym bodies, highschoolers on shows are depicted with live-in-the-gym bodies.
The message is clear, hot guys live in the gym and have a sculpted gym body. Guys start lifting and thinking about their gains at an early age.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 4, 2017 1:30 AM |
Dudes want to be "swole" and have male "aesthetics."
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 4, 2017 1:33 AM |
[quote]Develop early [R5]?
Boys bodies take on mature characteristics earlier now. That's just a scientific fact, the same way girls used to mature earlier. No one is exactly sure why. The penis and testes are bigger as well. Unfortunately for boys their brains aren't caught up to their body's development. It's probably exposure to chemicals in foods and the environment and exposure to pornography at an earlier age thanks to the internet. It triggers hormones. Boys are suffering from eating disorders like girls now at an alarming rate.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 4, 2017 1:34 AM |
R10 Just proves how Millennials are awesome and more developed

I hate to break it to you but there is zero proof of this. The "study" that launched a thousand headlines saying this was a self-reported online survey.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 4, 2017 1:38 AM |
What I find strange is that you ask a question with obvious answers.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 4, 2017 1:42 AM |
So black kids won't push them around and take their girlfriends from them. Black men have natural, solid, alpha male strength that white boys can only get by lifting weights. A lot of them are using steroids because they can't get it done naturally--that's how desperate they are. If you're a goofy white kid with no swag and no game, "aesthetics" is the only way to have something going for you.

That's ridiculous, since there is not a correlation between ultimate penis size and sexual maturity. That's porn thinking.

No one said that r34. We were talking about chemicals, environment, and exposure to porn.

This was going on in the 80s so don't pretend it's a new trend.
We had the most beautiful guy who was perfectly cut up, perfectly proportioned in every damn way, curly tow-headed in a way that only American Dutch/German guys can be. Hopefully bald at a young age, perhaps with a small dick as well. Oops.
Anyway, he came back from Junior year summer with MASSIVE gains, a shit-ton of acne, and anger issues.

by Anonymous | reply 40 | September 4, 2017 11:28 AM |
Yes, many teens take to weight lifting early. But some people are just more muscular and toned due to being athletic. When I was 18 some people assumed I lifted weights, which I never had. I did daily push-ups and sit-ups and running and cycling, but I also played hand-ball and did exercises at the park with handbars such as pull ups.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | September 4, 2017 11:32 AM |
We used to lift back in the day, but now there seems to be more knowledge about how to build bulk.
So nothing is that different. They're just getting better results than we did.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | September 4, 2017 11:37 AM |
Maybe it's a defense mechanism because they know creep old gay dudes constantly ogle them?
by Anonymous | reply 43 | September 4, 2017 11:49 AM |
Much more pressure on them to look good. We had the same BS - but it was more about clothes and hair. Instagram and all the body conscious craziness in the culture is changing things. They are also getting far better results with the right protein quantities, creatine, access to more weight lifting equipment, etc...
It's a good thing- if you build this kind of body young, I'd imagine it sets you up better for life than being a chubby teenager (which I think is far more common actually).
by Anonymous | reply 44 | September 4, 2017 11:51 AM |
Lifting is not the problem per se. It's the roid usage. Any TEEN using roids needs help.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | September 4, 2017 12:16 PM |
OP/R2 LOL, who are you fooling? This is exactly what you intended.

This lad is 16 and built like a grown man. How is he using steroids when there isn't a blemish on his face? I had more acne than him when I was a string bean at his age.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | September 4, 2017 1:10 PM |
They are at peak testosterone at that age... I doubt *that* many are on steroids. R49's guy doesn't look freakishly huge. They all have very low body fat and no loose skin, so that helps.

Uhh, first of all, this thread is about determining the root cause of this contemporary phenomenon.
Second, pedos are attracted to waifish little twinks who look like they just came out of the delivery room. Pedos like children. These guys are lifting weights early because they want to look like grown MEN, and anyone admiring their physique is doing so because they represent certain aspects of MANLINESS, not childhood.

I actually think r61 is correct. I don't think pedos/chicken hawks really want someone who is built, they want someone that looks boyish.

No. It's a symbol of masculinity and boys (teens aren't men) these days are even more obsessed with it. Coupled with the fact that men are now being objectified in advertising campaigns and porn much like women are now... it's becoming a little bit more even instead of one sided--they feel like they have to do everything they can do measure up. You have bands like the chain-"smokers" that talk about how big their dicks are--since when have mainstream artists been THAT brazen about it. These boy-men aren't even subtle anymore.
Just wait until they all start shooting their dicks up with HGH or steroids.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | September 4, 2017 3:20 PM |
R66 He's 18...a kid. What he's built like is irrelevant. Old guys love shit like this because they can rationalize it in exactly the way you are.

Can't some of this be traced back to the movie Perfect with John Travolta, and the early 80s Soloflex ad with that muscle boy model all the gays were drooling over?
Going over this thread (or Instagram) will give you the impression that bodybuilding is rampant among teens. But it's not. Next time you go to an airport or a shopping mall, look around. There are scads of normally developed teens who do not work out. And there are any number of obese teens out there as well.

Correct, R59. In my line of work, we say that these guys are working out their "mirror muscles" - the muscles that look good when they pose in the mirror. Mainly abs, pecs, biceps/triceps, lats, and quads. There are a lot of other muscles that they should work to be structurally strong, but they focus on what looks good, which to a 17 year old is their top priority. There is a definite difference in the physiques and strength of these guys compared to all-around high-performing athletes.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | September 4, 2017 3:35 PM |
I think Arnold S gets a lot of credit. He brought bodybuilding out of the shadows in the 70s. In the 80s, a big gym was Gold's in Venice, and there were numerous Holiday Spas all over Southern CA that were no bigger than a 7-11. Hard to fathom, but tue. Then gyms started emulating Gold's and growing in size; in the early 80s someone told me about a gym with an indoor running track and I couldn't believe it or picture it. Then they became the norm. Ballys merged with Holiday Spa and things kept growing for all sorts of reasons.

The hot thing is for dudes to be "Alphas" now and having huge muscles is a part of that identity. Male aesthetics is huge today, and you need muscles to excel in it and show off. Flexing is the male talent today .

by Anonymous | reply 81 | September 4, 2017 4:03 PM |
Because buff physiques is how males get attention and attract hotties today. You need to have a ripped, muscular bod to be considered hot today, and it's an easy way to get huge followings on social media. The hot dudes are "beasts," "swole," "bosses." Male aesthetics is booming.

According to DL they should all take oestrogen and strive for that Richard Simmons physique. It's certainly not the teens who are weird, it's you men.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | September 4, 2017 4:20 PM |
MEN always want to get bigger. It's part of the Alpha male identity. If a man is not tall, at least he can get more muscular. Men want to distinguish themselves from women and femininity, and bulking with muscles is a vivid reminder that men are different than women
by Anonymous | reply 86 | September 4, 2017 4:27 PM |
Go to a mall and you will see that fat and obese teens far out weigh (pun) in numbers the fit teens. It's sad to see so many over weight kids that do no exercise but only play video games.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | September 4, 2017 4:38 PM |
The mirrors bolted to the walls of Sydney's bodybuilding gyms are crowded with impossibly muscled men. It's a smorgasbord of peak health and physical perfection.
But Joey Sheather can pick them. The men who have bulked-up too fast, whose passion for fitness has tipped over into obsession. The ones who will never be satisfied no matter how hard they shred or how much body fat they lose.
Their muscles are not just physical shows of strength. They are an attempt to forge emotional armour, says Sheather, a veteran personal trainer at Camperdown Fitness.
"These guys are trying to fix their feelings of inadequacy by building their physiques," he says. "They throw themselves into physical activity to have something to focus on other than those painful thoughts."
Muscle dysmorphia is anorexia's burly counterpart. It's the body dysmorphic disorder known as "bigorexia" that predominantly affects men.
People with muscle dysmorphia are consumed by an obsession that they are too small or underdeveloped and may take drastic and damaging steps to bulk-up, such as compulsively exercise, harmful diets and anabolic steroid and peptide abuse.
"It's very obvious," Sheather says of the increasing number of scrawny men whose bodies erupt with the rippling muscles of seasoned body builders with seemingly negligible effort.
The use of performance and image-enhancing drugs (PIEDs) doesn't necessarily point to muscle dysmorphia, and not every individual with muscle dysmorphia uses PIEDs. But researchers says the rising rates of PIED use of is the canary in the coal mine of an emerging public mental health issue.Muscle dysphoria is the latest manifestation of eating disorder to rise from an image-obsessed Western culture that covets the muscled male physiques of blockbuster superhero franchises, pop stars and #fitspo Instagram feeds.
For every Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jean-Claude Van Damme movie of the '80s, there are now thousands of muscle men on social media posting daily videos and images of their rippled bodies.
"You can access a huge slew of idealised bodies to compare yourself to and that critical voice in your head that says 'this is probably not real' is often conspicuously quiet," says Griffiths.
He believes the forms eating disorders will take in the future will be dictated to a large extent by how greatly future societies value physical perfection and their new barely attainable ideal. "It has changed in the past and it is likely to change in the future. We have to be vigilant about new eating disorders that will turn up," he says.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | September 4, 2017 4:40 PM |
Oh the humanity!! It's terrible for someone to be passionate about an endeavor they love and which brings them immense pleasure. Sort of like the passion for and pleasure derived on DL from criticizing others for actually enjoying life.

Jeff Seid isn't to blame. It all started with the one man they all worship, Aziz Shavershian aka Zyzz. He pioneered the idea of building an aesthetic physique instead of worrying about proper form and adding more plates to the barbell. Jeff Seid just carried the torch.
by Anonymous | reply 95 | September 4, 2017 5:34 PM |
And it's easier to bodybuild in that fashion. You don't have to worry about genetic limits in size and strength, you need just enough muscle to get that shredded look--achievable by virtually any teenage male. So once the goal changed to something within reach, it led to an increase in participation among males. There are other factors at play but I think this is a big part of it.

You don't have to be a teenager to look as good as the guys in this thread!
Trust me.. I'm 66 years old but everybody mistakes me for a 19 year old! That's because I never drank, I never did drugs and I've been going to the gym and working out for over 50 years.
Just the other day I was surfing at the beach with my homies when these two teen guys came up to me and said, 'Hey Brah, you've got a dope body? What's your secret for those pecs and that sixpack?" And I told them I combine a gluten-free diet with an ab, cardio and weights workout. And I juice on the weekends.
It also helps that I look as young as I feel! That sucks that some of you guys are old and never worked out... Chin up, bros!
by Anonymous | reply 116 | September 4, 2017 11:46 PM |
Chins up, that is.

More pics please. For research.
by Anonymous | reply 118 | September 5, 2017 1:10 AM |
Why do they do it? Because they can. They see thousands of images of built, stacked, shredded guys and they want to imitate them. And, they are at that point in their lives, they are able to work out, put on muscle, and stay at relatively low body fat levels. Much easier as a teen than it will be later on life.
If you look at "ideal" male body images over the decades you will see how much more muscular the guys are today. Muscles are a commodity. You can have them regardless of whether you are smart or wealthy. They get you sex and attention. So, it is no surprise that teenage boys want to do what Patrick LeBlanc does. He has the body of a 25-year-old who's been working out for years.

Inactive adults experience a 3% to 8% loss of muscle mass per decade, accompanied by resting metabolic rate reduction and fat accumulation. Ten weeks of resistance training may increase lean weight by 1.4 kg, increase resting metabolic rate by 7%, and reduce fat weight by 1.8 kg. Benefits of resistance training include improved physical performance, movement control, walking speed, functional independence, cognitive abilities, and self-esteem. Resistance training may assist prevention and management of type 2 diabetes by decreasing visceral fat, reducing HbA1c, increasing the density of glucose transporter type 4, and improving insulin sensitivity. Resistance training may enhance cardiovascular health, by reducing resting blood pressure, decreasing low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and triglycerides, and increasing high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Resistance training may promote bone development, with studies showing 1% to 3% increase in bone mineral density. Resistance training may be effective for reducing low back pain and easing discomfort associated with arthritis and fibromyalgia and has been shown to reverse specific aging factors in skeletal muscle.

Some of y'all are so pitifully old and out of touch. It's widespread.
Teens place a premium on muscular builds and are increasingly taking chances with their health to get them.
When it comes to body image, more is better, at least when it comes to muscle, according to a recent study of teens and body image. Published in the journal Pediatrics, the analysis involved 2,793 middle- and high school students living in the Minneapolis–St. Paul area who reportedly bulking up by using products like steroids and protein powders. The scientists found that the adolescents see toned and muscular bodies as the ideal, and are willing to change eating and exercise habits, as well as use supplements and steroids that have been linked to adverse health effects, to enhance muscle development.
Boys were more likely to take up these habits, with two-thirds of those surveyed reporting changing their eating habit to favor muscle mass. Thirty-five percent of boys used protein powders and 6% used steroids.
Although building bigger muscles was less common among girls, 21% reported using protein powders, 4.6% used steroids and 5.5% used other substances. In total, 12% of boys and 6% of girls engaged in three or more different behaviors to gain muscle. “This finding suggests that, in addition to a ‘thin ideal’ and focus on leanness, muscularity is an important component of body satisfaction for both genders,” the authors write.
(MORE: Which Drugs Is Lance Armstrong Accused of Taking?)
“We were very alarmed by the high numbers of youth using muscle enhancers such as protein supplements. These behaviors suggest high concerns about youth with regard to muscularity,” says study author Dianne Neumark-Sztainer, a professor of epidemiology and community health at the University of Minnesota.
But the results are complicated by the fact that building muscle may also promote some beneficial behaviors, particularly among teens who were obese. In fact, greater use of muscle-building behaviors was found among kids with higher BMIs or struggling with obesity. The authors write:
Although it is appropriate to promote physical activity in youth, which may have desirable benefits in terms of health and body composition, care should be taken to emphasize moderation in behaviors and to focus on skill development, fitness, and general health rather than development of a muscular appearance. “There are many confusing messages in our society regarding what is healthy. While it is appropriate and desirable to aim to be physically fit and be involved in physical activity, this should be done through healthful eating and activity behaviors,” says Neumark-Sztainer. “The youth may view taking muscle enhancers as a healthful behavior given that substances such as protein powders are widely promoted. We need to move away from the idea of an ‘ideal body shape’ toward an acceptance of diverse body shapes and sizes.”
(MORE: Too Old For Weight Worries? Eating Disorders Are Common Among Women over 50)
According to Barbara Greenberg, a clinical psychologist, anything taken to an extreme is a problem. “We have a spectrum. Here, what you have is a healthy eating behavior gone all the way to the other side so you’re not only developing problems with eating, but you are developing a substance-abuse problems with steroids too,” she says. “Parents need to have discussions constantly about how to make sustainable gains in a healthy way through eating and exercise, and they need to show a healthy example.”
While the findings may be alarming, pediatricians and body-image experts say they are not very surprising. “I have not only seen it in my private practice, I’ve seen it in the gym too,” says Greenberg. “There are all these media images of muscularity. It used to be Twiggy and now we are seeing more muscularity, which is a newer trend. In the magazines you read about the celebrities who work out with their trainers and it’s not to get emaciated, it’s to get built.”

this is NOT a pedo thread. come on, pedos want little boys, not men/boys that can snap them in two.
Nevertheless, the casual discussion of these young men being hot, buff and shreded, doesn't escape the fact that these young guys are .001% of the population, and the rest of deluded young guys think that the male population can achieve these same results is beyond ridiculous. but what they don't know is that most (99%) of these young guys are juicing.
it's all a matter of perception, you look good, you worked hard you get the babes. but the reality of the matter is they are putting harmful unregulated chemicals in their bodies and you DL's are praising them for it. That's just wrong. DL survey after survey has indicated that most of us on this site are over 50.
so for you old horn dogs slobbering after these guys when you know for a FACT that they're juicing and cutting their life short is macabre and the definition of the old queen in caftan and earrings dancing to her last disco song slobbering over an Instagram image on the cell phone.
You don't give a fuck about the new meat in front of you. You guys keep "liking" their Instagram photos perpetuate a cycle of nameless rewards for these fucked up individuals.

I got say, this is one of a few times where I have come here and be shocked at what I was reading.
The old DL would have FFed and reported this thread in a mater of minutes. Now we are lucky if TPTB read our complains, let alone do anything about them.
The anonymous posting is starting to work against us. Now the fangurls and freaks feel emboldened to post anything. And they are doing this because they view the gays as pushovers. They don't fear us at all: "what are a bunch of queens and eldergays going to do about it?" so they keep posting their garbage.

Seriously, the age of consent is 16 in most of the US. It's legal to have sex with most of these guys so of course it's legal to look at pictures they've put up on Instagram with the express purpose of wanting to be admired.
Sick of these paedo trolls who pretend DL used to be a haven of craven political correctness when it was even more liberal back in the 20th century, with shows like Queer As Folk (sex scenes with a 15 year old/20s guy) won awards.
by Anonymous | reply 308 | September 22, 2017 12:03 AM |
If anything DL should be commended for tackling this issue head on. Elsewhere it's either ignored or downplayed. We're engaged in a serious discussion about a serious matter. Sure there's a few who come here with perverted intentions but we shouldn't allow them to sidetrack our debate.
by Anonymous | reply 309 | September 22, 2017 12:04 AM |
This kind of exercise is encouraged by anger management specialists. It's all better than beating each other up or engaging in violent crime. Girls are dieting as young as 14 so it's only fair that boys now have something to aim for too.

Curious? Are you kidding me? Can’t they look in the mirror and see that it’s already extremely low? It’s not curiosity, it’s obsession! They want precise numbers so they can alter their diets and take their bodyfat percentage down to an even more unhealthy level.

I wouldn’t say “worried about” or “concerned by” or “obesessed with” their body fat. It’s more like “interested to know” their body fat and have fun transforming their bodies into powerhouses.
I’m naturally skinny and won’t take supplements, so I’ll never have the body these guys have, but since I spend about 8 hr/week in the gym, some people would say I have body issues. The truth is that I enjoy knowing that i am doing whatever possible to stay healthy and fuckable for as long as possible. I wish I had the genes of these guys... good for them for enjoying their bodies.

The ripped, buffed look was not as exalted and idealized in media and pop culture back then. 4. A friend of mine that was into weightlifting/powerlifting who is bisexual would tell me how he would read body building magazines when we were in our early 20s and how they all had ads for steroids in them, and articles that said how steroids are not bad for you. You dweeb, PAIN? You have no idea how good it feels to push your body to the limit except for when you're eating.
by Anonymous | reply 421 | November 2, 2017 1:48 AM |
Who says the body needs to be pushed to its limits? What’s wrong with a moderate diet and exercise? It makes for a lot more free time.

R422 I would not be surprised if those men take steroids, HGH, and other stuff that's not good for your body.
Look at the guy in the blog link I posted, that's not healthy for you.
I have seen men in porn who did the same and it's as someone else wrote some of them were "dead by/before 30".
by Anonymous | reply 425 | November 2, 2017 3:07 AM |
You mean there's something dangerous with being an iron freak and taking steroids?!
by Anonymous | reply 426 | November 2, 2017 3:10 AM |
Hmmmm
by Anonymous | reply 427 | November 2, 2017 12:24 PM |
I would hope it’s just a result of endless gym time rather than steroid usage.

by Anonymous | reply 430 | November 3, 2017 12:25 PM |
I think that most of these bodies can be obtained through natural means.
by Anonymous | reply 431 | November 4, 2017 1:54 AM |
[quote] Boys bodies take on mature characteristics earlier now. That's just a scientific fact, the same way girls used to mature earlier. No one is exactly sure why. The penis and testes are bigger as well.
And of course you have absolutely zero substantiation to offer.
by Anonymous | reply 434 | November 6, 2017 1:10 AM |
I don’t know about the last part in that statement, but it’s possible that their bodies are maturing earlier.

Working out is my drug. I don't party every night, I don't get wasted, I don't pop bottles, I workout. I push my body to its limits, Then i push it harder! I blast my music, i sweat, I ache, i love pain! And i hate skinny. You can have the clubs And the flashy life, I will take the darkness of the gym. All day. Every day.

Superheroes today are a lot more shredded than they used to be. The original Superman and Batman look almost willowy compared to our muscle-bursting modern-day versions.
That’s no coincidence. America is in the midst of a cultural shift in terms of the ideal male body image, and as the ideal man grows more muscular, men stuck in the

I'm cheered to see the cream of American youth rallying to physical culture! What a wonderful outlet for the boundless energy (and raging hormones) of male teens, developing these strong, strapping, capable bodies, and at such an early age.
It just goes to show that the firm, guiding hand of a male authority figure can point a young lad in the right direction.

Every guy should look like this before they even reach adulthood.
