r4 Yes, he is so intelligent and educated and thinking; math is not a science, dlers love to hate and bully, but they are kind of dumb and very surface and pretty uneducated; it's a legitimate question.

I'd say math is definitely a science. It's different from other sciences in that it deals with abstract, rather than real, objects. But still, math is an indispensable tool for many less-controversial sciences - physics, chemistry, economy etc. 8th grade students are supposed to know that considering there's always a lot of math in physics courses. So even if you disagree that math is a science of its own, it's ridiculous to be in doubt as to whether it is related to science. Katy is still a moron.

She was raised by fundamentalist Christians. They go to extraordinary lengths to keep their kids from learning anything about science.

r11 Interesting, Nietzsche said the same thing - all psychological phenomena can be reduced to biology, all biology can be reduced to chemistry, all chemistry to physics. He never made the leap to math, though.

A BBC documentary on mathematics ("maths" as they say in UK....ugh) described it well as "the language of all sciences". This, most scientific concepts require math as a tool to describe or prove various theories etc
