Since autumn is coming, here's one of my favorites. It has no name but you can call it a Loaded Apple Pie or something along those lines.
To a quart of apple cider (not juice) add two shots (or more, to taste) of Fireball or strong cinnamon schnapps. Use this combination as your mixer. Pour a couple of shots of your favorite vodka into a tall, ice-filled glass and top with the spiced apple cider.
A fuck of a lot better than Granny's apple pie and, after a couple of these, you'll be ready to frolic in the fall foliage.

I assume that OP is the guy who used to intro a weekly what are you having for a drinkie poo on Friday afternoon/evening. Datalounge has changed a lot in recent years, the whole old vs. young thing, the whole idiot( trump supporter) vs. thoughtful ( not trump supporter) and other changes that makes the place less friendly. anyway, I loved seeing the words drinkie poo. I aint too fancy, give me a strong beer, preferably fairly hoppy.

by Anonymous | reply 61 | September 3, 2017 4:36 AM |
"Drinkie poo" reminds ne of my grandmother. When she and her friends would travel to see baseball games, they'd make a pitcher of Drinkie Poo, a very strong punch, in their hotel room.
IIRC, you put a fifth of whatever liquor you wanted in a pitcher, then stirred in a can of frozen, concentrated juice and filled the rest of the pitcher eith ginger ale or 7-Up. I never made any so this comes from memories of their stories I heard as a teen.
The joke was, "A little Drinkie Poo never hurt anybody."

After a rough week in the office, I'm now flittering around the various DL cocktail parties happening this lovely spring evening, sipping a very dry vodka martini, attentively listening for your soft whisper, awaiting your secret caress . . . waiting for you to make eye contact with me, telling me I look especially lovely this evening . . .

[quote]Plus, who keeps grenadine on the off chance you'll want a TS?
You can also use it for a Mary Pickford "a Prohibition Era cocktail made with white rum, fresh pineapple juice, grenadine, and Maraschino liqueur. It is served shaken and chilled, often with a Maraschino cherry. Named for Canadian-American film actress Mary Pickford (1892–1979), it is said to have been created for her in the 1920s by either Eddie Woelke or Fred Kaufmann at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba on a trip she took to Havana with Charlie Chaplin and Douglas Fairbanks."
I crave rum occasionally in the summer and it's now June.

@R221 - Kirkland (Costco)
12 percent versus 12.5 or 13 percent. I prefer the 'lower octane' selection; this way I have a nice buzz, while at the same time, I'm able to prepare a luscious meal without hurting it, myself, or others. (Stay out of the kitchen while I'm cooking, dammit!)
$6.99 / Liter

Retired so I like to get a good buzz on 3 or 4 nights a week. First two drinks are Ketel One vodka with club soda and a splash of OJ. Last one is a large Ketel on the rocks with a splash of OJ out of the one Waterford tumbler that I own.

You?

Anyone know why your taste, tolerance changes? Gin used to be my go to, now I get hangovers. I recently bought a bottle of Jameson's Irish Whiskey , used to love it, now "meh".

I've had a shitty day today, to the extent I ended my day earlier than usual.
I'm now home, in my cozy bed; and my precious 'Baby Gurl' (dog) is also loving her cozy 'beddie' at the foot of my bed. (She's snoring contently.) I've got an iced Drinkie-Poo accompanying me while I cruise around the world on my laptop.
It's raining! Yesssssssssssssssssss!

Malbec for me tonight. There's a major storm where I live, too, R244: flash flood warning, tornado warning, the works. I'm enjoying watching the rain and the wind from the safety of my sofa.
