ALF

Remember ALF? What a great show. That curmudgeonly little alien and the doting dad.

By the way did ALF have an Eastern European twin brother?

Has anyone seen the outtakes of this show on YouTube? At one point, Paul Fusco (through the voice of ALF) made a comment towards the actress who played the daughter that could be considered borderline sexual harassment. I heard similar stories from Christine Elise and Katherine Heigl with the Chucky movies. I guess thisis a way for puppeteers to sexually harass women under the guise of being funny with puppets.

by Anonymousreply 3March 2, 2020 11:11 PM

Remember the tabloid pics of the dad smoking crack?

by Anonymousreply 4March 2, 2020 11:14 PM

R4, HELL YEAH. The deviant motherfucker. That’s all I can think about when I think of ALF. What a bizarre show.

by Anonymousreply 5March 2, 2020 11:41 PM

I'm friends with Jim J. Bullock. He claims that he killed ALF.

by Anonymousreply 6March 3, 2020 12:19 AM

Smoking crack and sucking druggie dick wasn't it?

It’s a penis you nitwit R9

by Anonymousreply 10March 3, 2020 2:57 AM

Surprise, surprise, that's my clitoris!!

by Anonymousreply 11March 3, 2020 3:00 AM

R11

I’ve seen Judge Judy’s cunt before. It’s much hairier and has a tiny gavel that bangs on unwanted penises.

by Anonymousreply 12March 3, 2020 3:06 AM

R10 clearly did not get R9’s joke.

by Anonymousreply 13March 3, 2020 3:07 AM

I watched a few episodes a few months ago for old time’s sake, and I can’t believe I liked it when I was a kid. It is TERRIBLY dated now and painfully unfunny. Does not hold up well at all.

by Anonymousreply 14March 3, 2020 3:35 AM

Jim J. Bullock was a guest star and said everyone was miserable and smoking (even the kids).

by Anonymousreply 15June 23, 2021 8:50 PM

JM J Bullock says he was never on a show with a more unhappy cast.

Anne Schedeen was the most kind saying, that while working on the show was OK, "Let's just say, we were all very glad when it ended."

by Anonymousreply 16June 23, 2021 8:53 PM

Didn’t that crack ho dad film himself getting fucked up the ass by a homeless dude?

by Anonymousreply 17June 23, 2021 9:09 PM

I rewatched the episode where Anne dreams about being president. The show referenced both Biden and Trump and seemingly predicted Biden becoming president.

by Anonymousreply 18June 23, 2021 9:11 PM

God, that show sucked.

by Anonymousreply 19June 23, 2021 9:11 PM

Wasn’t the set built weirdly?

by Anonymousreply 20June 23, 2021 9:14 PM

We had a full Alf mask, with hair, and I'd put it on to scare the shit out of my toddler nephew. He became hysterical LMAO.

by Anonymousreply 21June 23, 2021 9:33 PM

Wasn’t Alison Moyet’s plaintive breakthrough 1985 album Alf about her turbulent relationship with the comedian behind the ALF suit?

by Anonymousreply 22June 23, 2021 10:19 PM

[quote]Wasn’t the set built weirdly?

Yes, to accommodate the puppet. The show was funny, but the guy who voiced Alf seemed to be full of himself. The last episode where Al was found out, was to be the new direction of the show. The family was to be written out and Alf would have a new life making the Alien Task Force's lives miserable. But the show was not renewed and the plot not resolved till a later TV movie.

by Anonymousreply 23June 24, 2021 6:19 PM

Paul Fusco's inappropriate antics were called out in a recent article.

This show/character was a legit pop culture phenomenon back in the day. Now, most people don't care. Very strange.

by Anonymousreply 24July 2, 2021 7:18 AM

It was a phenom but but not a big one---you knew it existed but you also could care less.

by Anonymousreply 25July 2, 2021 11:14 AM

The show was seriously funny

I must've had some taste, because even then, I hated it. Thought it was painfully unfunny even when I was a kid. And like the other another poster mentioned, my only thought when this show is mentioned is the crackhead whore dad.

by Anonymousreply 27July 2, 2021 6:03 PM

Good night, Mrs. Okmonik, wherever you are!

by Anonymousreply 28July 2, 2021 6:03 PM

I once had a job where I had to wear the suit and hand out discount coupons. Awful job and the suit was really heavy but it was either Alf or an ill-fitting bellhop costume. I used to get a lot of children pestering me.

by Anonymousreply 29July 2, 2021 6:12 PM

I used to know the whore who serviced Max. In fact, he used my camcorder to record some of his exploits.

by Anonymousreply 30July 2, 2021 7:20 PM

Is ALF back in pog form?

Do yous till have the costume?

by Anonymousreply 33July 2, 2021 10:22 PM

As a kid I actually like the Saturday morning cartoon more than the original show.

by Anonymousreply 34July 2, 2021 10:24 PM

A few years ago, one of the producers said that this was one of the worst cast families ever. I know some people didn't care for the family. I think it was mostly the writing, but the kids were two of the worst actors ever.

by Anonymousreply 35July 2, 2021 10:51 PM

"Hello, too much rouge."

by Anonymousreply 36July 2, 2021 11:09 PM

My only memory of the show was Alf lipsynching to the Supremes "Stop! In The Name Of Love". I remember laughing hysterically at it.

by Anonymousreply 37July 3, 2021 1:17 AM

I went to college in the early 90s with a girl who was a ringer for the daughter. Different name and she denied being her when I asked but what if the actress went into hiding and changed her name to escape the stench of association? I shouldn’t have let it go so easily…

by Anonymousreply 38July 3, 2021 1:25 AM

Entertainment weekly did a retrospective of the show, where the cast was interviewed, and none of them had anything good to say about the experience. It took a long time to shoot scenes because of the machinations of the puppet and then they'd have to get a guy in costume to run around the set when they needed to do a long shot.

Anne Scheedeen became a realtor and one of her clients was a post ER movie star George Clooney. She must be making out quite nicely for herself.

by Anonymousreply 39July 3, 2021 1:34 AM

Anne Schedeen has been DEAD to me since 1979!

Worst show ever. The puppet was gross. Throw it in a grease fire.

by Anonymousreply 41July 3, 2021 4:03 AM

I loved it when Funny or Die's Very Special Episode series made fun of the episode of ALF and the blind woman.

[quote]JM J Bullock says he was never on a show with a more unhappy cast.

I believe it. I remember reading an article that said on the very last day, Max Wright just went straight to his dressing room to get his stuff and left immediately without even saying goodbye to anyone because he just wanted out.

by Anonymousreply 43July 3, 2021 4:33 AM

The decor looked so stuffy and more for old people than a young family.

by Anonymousreply 44July 3, 2021 4:34 AM

[quote] "It took a long time to shoot scenes because of the machinations of the puppet..."

Yes. The set was built four feet off the floor of the soundstage, and the puppet version of ALF was accommodated via trap doors in the floor. The show was never filmed in front of a live audience, because it took so long (even for a sitcom). And apparently, Paul Fusco was impossibly difficult, and a complete asshole.

I liked the show as a kid, but haven't seen it since.

It seems like the kind of series that was pickedup because the network had a lot of holes in its schedule and was willing to program just about anything.. The network was probably surprised that was a hit. I'd for gotten that they had "very special" episodes which seems bizarre for a high concept show---probably a mark of network interference or the producers trying to keep it on long enough to syndicate it.
