Lesbian accent/voice

Ok weve spent enough time on here discussing how we gays have a lisp and talk queeny etc. We need to discuss the lesbians. First off Ellen sounds like she's got oatmeal in her mouth. She sounded like a reg southern gal when she first started out and now she just mumbles and barely opens her mouth. This seems to be the case with a lot of lesbians they talk like John Wayne. Why are they afraid to open their mouths when they talk? I know theyre not trying to copy straight guys - straight guys fucking open their mouth when they talk - some very loud. I've gone back through YouTube in the last couple hours and looked at all the lesbians and every single one of them mumbles.

Lockjaw from oral, perhaps?

by Anonymousreply 1August 14, 2017 11:08 PM

Lesbians would deny it but they definitely have an accent.

by Anonymousreply 2August 16, 2017 4:08 PM

Ivanka Trump sounds like a lesbian who goes out of her way to look fem so no one will know.

by Anonymousreply 3August 16, 2017 4:25 PM

I've noticed this! Lesbians talk like they have dentures

by Anonymousreply 4August 16, 2017 4:32 PM

K Stew soooo has this. Watch her SNL opening monologue

by Anonymousreply 5August 16, 2017 4:33 PM

They talk like men. No flowery speeches or pretty vernacular or lilt in their voices. Very monotone too.

by Anonymousreply 6August 16, 2017 4:37 PM

Gillian Anderson has it in her American accent. I don't know what is going on with her British accent.

by Anonymousreply 7August 16, 2017 4:41 PM

Queen Latifah definitely has the bassy and no-nonsense voice most lesbians have, and what R6 makes reference to.

Oddly enough, Whoopi has it, too.

My bff LOVED studs, butches, etc. i noticed that many of them talked in a low register as some blacks do. I've also noticed and my friend pointed this out that many Lesbians are a bit rough the edges. The butches she dated typically had male energy (and underwear). I found them kind of hot.

by Anonymousreply 9August 16, 2017 7:45 PM

The voice has very flat emotional tones. Straight women and gay men are far more expressive.

by Anonymousreply 10August 16, 2017 7:47 PM

The real question is - do lesbians hate "lez voice" as much as gay men seem to hate "gay voice"?

by Anonymousreply 11August 16, 2017 7:47 PM

Nancy Kulp had the very best kind of lesbian accent. I once had a work colleague (lesbian of course) with about the same accent whom I could have listened to for hours.

by Anonymousreply 12August 16, 2017 8:26 PM

Probably not. Masculinity in women is not despised or ridiculed like femininity in men; it is mostly ignored. Masculine behavior is not generally "corrected" in young girls.

by Anonymousreply 13August 16, 2017 9:13 PM

"Let's cut to the chase; what's the fucking bottom line?"

by Anonymousreply 14August 16, 2017 9:25 PM

Haha ..and the ones that point their finger in conversations like they think straight men do..

by Anonymousreply 15August 16, 2017 9:36 PM

I know the voice you mean OP. But obviously not every dyke has it. You only notice the ones that do

by Anonymousreply 16August 16, 2017 10:07 PM

[quote]Queen Latifah definitely has the bassy and no-nonsense voice most lesbians have,

Who? Oh you mean King Latifah.

by Anonymousreply 17August 16, 2017 10:10 PM

CHIME IN, LESBIANS!

by Anonymousreply 18August 17, 2017 5:09 PM

[quote]I've noticed this! Lesbians talk like they have dentures

Miss Barbara Stanwyck sounded like this, even when she was young (BEFORE the Constance Colby dentures). So does Jada Pinkett Smith.

by Anonymousreply 19August 17, 2017 6:12 PM

Kate McKinnon has a weird accent and she sounds like an old lady.

by Anonymousreply 20August 20, 2017 2:55 AM

On L Chat it certainly looks like butch dykes are looked down upon by much of the lesbian community. But it's the only place I see lesbians being like that. Obviously, this has to do with the anonymity of the place, but it's interesting how lesbians play down their biases in public, when they know they're being watched by outsiders and can be held to account for what they do. I sort of wish gay men could do that; it seems all we do is wash our dirty laundry in public.

by Anonymousreply 21August 20, 2017 3:13 AM

I think at least half of them at LChat are straight tweens

by Anonymousreply 22August 20, 2017 3:15 AM

Tammy Baldwin, the U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, as a baby doll voice.

by Anonymousreply 23August 20, 2017 3:29 AM

"The real question is - do lesbians hate "lez voice" as much as gay men seem to hate "gay voice"?"

No. Most lesbians hate all that giggling nonsense. "Femininity" was invented by men, not women.

Straight men are mostly idiots with absolutely no gaydar, and they rarely understand their aversion to things like "lesbian voice." But as long as it works on their subconscious and keeps them away...

by Anonymousreply 24August 20, 2017 3:36 AM

R20 kate definitely has the lesbian dentures in my mouth accent

by Anonymousreply 25August 20, 2017 3:52 AM

Deliberately putting bass in one’s voice is a show of dominance, isn’t it? Which would mean that lesbians who affect such are in fact subscribing to patriarchal ideas about feminine women as submissives or masculine men as potential challengers.

by Anonymousreply 26March 30, 2018 12:49 PM

No, it is not about "deliberately putting bass in once voice" but sounding normal instead of an artificially pitched high (i.e. baby voice, upspeak, Japanese high pitch etc) - that is the artificial voice

by Anonymousreply 27March 30, 2018 12:58 PM

I always think of Paula Poundstone as having the quintessential lesbian voice.

by Anonymousreply 28March 30, 2018 1:40 PM

I speak like a real woman and future governor.

by Anonymousreply 29March 30, 2018 1:48 PM

Do some bisexual women have the voice?

by Anonymousreply 30March 30, 2018 1:56 PM

I think that is more drunk/PARTY voice than lesbian or bi, R30

by Anonymousreply 31March 30, 2018 2:01 PM

R30, she has (crack) smoker's voice.

by Anonymousreply 32March 30, 2018 2:06 PM

R21 I though I'd finally found the lesbian DL, thanks to you. But, it's basically the lesbian lolcow. Pity.

by Anonymousreply 33March 30, 2018 7:26 PM

R11 I don't think so because gay men in general dislike the feminity in men, but lesbians like masculinity in women. A butch or a stud is considered to be very hot.

by Anonymousreply 34March 31, 2018 8:13 AM

R24 Might be a certain masculine energy some lez women have. Dunno, I'm a bi woman, not butch but something like a tomboy, I don't have the lez voice, I'm conventionally attractive, and yet the majority of men who seem to be into me after having talked to me are bisexual. They seem to enjoy that energy whereas straight men don't.

by Anonymousreply 35March 31, 2018 8:17 AM

What about when lesbian voice overlaps with straight Gen X woman voice?

by Anonymousreply 36March 31, 2018 8:23 AM

My niece is a lesbian, has pictures of herself hanging on her butch girlfriend on Facebook but my Mom think that is just a friend. Women can hang on each other or go out to dinner, etc. and nobody bats an eye like they would with 2 men.

I know this is a whole other subject but anywhoo....

by Anonymousreply 37March 31, 2018 8:39 AM

Jodie didn't talk through her teeth as a child actor but she has at least since Silence of the Lambs.
