You guys are horribly misinformed. First of all AIDS cocktails will always fail. The virus will mutate and overcome the meds. This will always happen,

AIDS meds consist of at least three different drugs. It was found two or less drugs would not keep the virus at bay long enough to help much. Three antiretrovirals do this but eventually one of those three will always fail and you doctor simply switches your medicines. So now you have three again and it works, till the next failure cycle.

There are only so many antiretroviral and some people have HIV that is resistant to many of the cocktails already. This is due to the virus mingling with other forms of the virus from multiple exposures or simple random mutations, HIV mutates quite often on it's own.

The success of the antiretrovirals depends solely on science making new ones. This is similar to the problem we have with antibiotics. There are now forms of diseases which are resistant to antibiotics. Remember that HIV is a virus not a bacteria so things like antibiotics will not work on it.

Also even as late as 2005, antiretrovirals were horrible to take and caused the AIDS hump and AIDS face. It wasn't till around 2010, that widely available drugs were less toxic with fewer side effects.

Finally remember of the 200 or so of the antiretrovirals that have been created less than a dozen have been made by other nations than the US and governmental agencies. So the antiretrovirals are almost solely being created by Big Pharma. That is right, the same Big Pharma companies you all so routinely decry. But these companies are solely responsible for gays being alive today. And the world outside of the US isn't producing shit regarding these drugs. Why? Because to create new versions that aren't resistant to HIV is a huge cost, so other nations simply license from the US companies or outright steal it as in Brazil and South Africa.

So yes if you're on antiretrovirals, this is why your doctor changes your meds after a few years. Doctors realize they currently have enough meds that you will die before they run out of drugs to switch. But like the current situation with antibiotics, 50 years from now, we'll be in the same situation with antiretrovirals as we are with antibiotics.

Thanks for the laugh, William Dafoe looked old and ill when he was a young man! He's always had prominent cheekbones and bad coarse skin, plus he's a smoker. He doesn't have HIV. People with prominent cheekbones do not always age well, especially if they get thinner as they age.

Interferon is a form of chemotherapy, and people who have undergone Hep C treatment with the drug end up looking like cancer patients. They lose their appetite, lose weight, suffer vomiting , and hair loss just like a cancer patient. It makes patients extremely sick, and many cannot tolerate the treatment. Most Hep C positive people had to get treatment for a full year.

Unfortunately, lots of people did not respond to the treatment, and continued to have a very high.viral load. From what I understand, Hep C poz patients were given three treatments of Interferon, meaning that they were subjected to the drug once per week, for a year, per treatment. If the patient did not respond to the treatment after the 3rd round, they were diagnosed as untreatable. I know at least two people in AA who went through this and eventually passed away at a young age. Hep C poz patients have a high risk of developing liver cancer and/or cirrhosis of the liver. Both of those diseases are fatal on their own, without AIDS.

People seem to have forgotten what a serious disease Hep C is. We now have better treatment, but until recently, Hep C was killing ex IV users.

Why are some person(s) on this thread so insistent on trying to convince the rest of us that Prince had AID's? He'd been married twice from the mid 90's into the early 2000's. In fact he had tried to have children with his first wife, Mayte, at least twice. Shortly after their divorce, by year 2000, Prince had become a die hard Jehova's Witness, and married again up until 2006. If Prince were to have contracted HIV which later turned into AIDs, why would he have gotten married twice and tried to have kids? By 2006, after his final divorce, he was still very religious. Not to mention, if he had contracted HIV post 2006, it is not likely at all for him to have gotten full blown aids, in this day and age, and with his wealth and access to health care. There have been rumors of his addiction issues going back as far as the mid/late 90's. He died of an opiate addiction.
