Many years ago I worked for a woman whom I knew was married but seemed to me to be a lez. I couldn't figure out what was going on, but of course couldn't ask anyone at work. A few months into my employment there I met her husband at the company holiday party and thought for certain he was gay. I don't think their marriage is a "charade". It's only been in recent times that people married the person they were attracted to or loved. For most of history, marriage was about building strategic alliances. That's what they are doing as I'm guessing they are both gay. Ryan is gay, or leans in that direction. Hey, we've all seen straight people kiss and what we saw was was not two straight people kissing. Are we in agreement? Also, as suggested by R70, that her family money is keeping them together. If I was her father, I would have had Ryan investigated before the marriage.

Her father didn't suspect Ryan was gay and that this daughter would marry a gay man. That would seem ludicrous to someone like him. So it raises the question, how and why would he have something investigated that had never even occurred to him? As far as an investigation I am sure he conducted one, but that was likely a background report and a credit check as some people who are obviously well off and make tons of money are still close to broke or in deep-shit debt.

He most likely had Ryan's (criminal) background record, assets and credit history/score all checked, didn't see or suspect anything negative there, and knows and trusts that his daughter is smart and prudent and would never have introduced a man to her father if she had never met his family, didn't know who he really was or anything about his past. She's a lawyer after all. I am sure when she mentioned to friends and colleagues that she was dating Ryan from MDLNYC, someone, somewhere at some point, would have blurted out or whispered, "You do know he's gay, right?"

Her father has also never lived in NYC, doesn't know the city scene and the culture there at all, and coming from his traditional, old fashioned, old school background, I am sure gay or bi never even entered his mind. So there was nothing to prompt him to investigate if Ryan might possibly be gay or anything regarding their sexual orientation for that matter. "Gay" is so far out of her father's world that he probably doesn't realize some gay men actually do marry women and some also have children with them.

If he had heard stories of Ryan being gay he's more likely to have assumed Ryan married his daughter because he finally came to his senses about being gay and therefore decided to do the right thing and "convert to normal", than to believe that a gay man would marry a straight woman, like his daughter. If someone told him "Your son-in-law is gay" he would get angry because it probably never occurred to him that a gay man would marry a woman ("Nonsense, if Ryan was gay he would never have married my daughter") and he would also know his daughter is way too smart to have not noticed and known about his sexual orientation.

And then, believe it or not, there's the possibility that he's not gay and pretended to be (knowing he could get away with it, gay face and all) in order to get small parts leading to his celebrity and therefore the gay rumors are just gay rumors.

You guys who think that someone's sexuality can be hidden from a rich powerful potential in law are out of the loop. A gay friend of mine dated a girl from one of the wealthiest families in New York. She only dated and married gay men. When the guy met the girl's father they had a pleasant chat and then a secretary walked in with two copies of a background check, one for the guy's daughter, and one for the girl's boyfriend to look over. The girl's father said is there anything inaccurate? And said to his daughter does the bad stuff bother you? The girl said no. Her father approved the marriage as soon as he approved the prenup. They lasted around 5 years. The guy got 3 million, the girl kept her 2 billion. They are still friends.

No one said her father/family in Greece are famous R183. They are just wealthy. Emilia comes from a wealthy family, not a middle-class or UMC family. They certainly are not among Greece's most wealthy or famous and part of Greeks wealthiest families, but nevertheless north of UMC and wealthy.
