Hmm, speaking of the Dazzling Musical Performer (TM) that is the uber talented Niall Horan (*cough cough splutter*) there was an interesting post on Twitter today about how so very popular he is... or isn't. I did my own research to make sure it wasn't BS, and came to the conclusion it was kosher.
Here, folks, are the facts:
Niall's twitter, @NiallOfficial, has (of right now) 39,761,237 followers. Pretty amazing, right?? He's leaving poor old Harry in the dust (a measly 32,039,868 followers). EXCEPT... a TwitterAudit, run 10 months ago on Niall's account, shows a whopping 18 MILLION of those followers are fake or bots, giving him a score of 54%.
An audit run on Harry's account nearly 3 months ago shows 5 million of his followers are fake or bots, giving him a much healthier score of 83%.
Interesting, right?
I did a quick few calculations on their replies, retweets and likes to see just how popular they are (warning: I am not a mathematical genius, just an evil one).
In the past month (I counted everything dated April and March 2018), Niall has tweeted 34 times, and retweeted 38. Harry has tweeted 16 and hasn't retweeted anything. For sanity's sake, I used the rounded figures on each tweet, not the exact numbers.
Niall's tweets averaged roughly 1869 replies, 17,879 retweets, and 66,794 likes. His retweets averaged roughly 221 replies, 4,326 retweets and 16,211 likes.
Harry's tweets averaged roughly 8031 replies, 67,395 retweets, and 227,375 likes. No retweets, as a fun fact his last retweet was on 22 Feb and received a 5300 replies, 33,000 retweets and 67,000 likes.
Harry received roughly 3,638,000 likes in total for his 16 tweets. Niall received roughly 2,271,000 in total for his 34 tweets.
Fun fact: Harry's birthday tweet received 37,000 replies, 175,000 retweets and 508,000 likes. His New Year tweet received 50,000 replies, 260,000 retweets and 568,000 likes.
In summary: Niall's twitter numbers do not add up. For nearly 40m followers (a year ago he had 29m..........) he should be averaging a far higher return on his tweets. It's simply not happening. Harry is blowing him out of the water.
This has been a PSA.
