Angie Dickinson sad aftermath

When glamour fades.

For the love of God she is 85.

How does your grandmother look? She looks fine (actually pretty good IMHO for 85).

by Anonymousreply 1July 26, 2017 12:44 AM

I just can't blame her for not dying young! Ms. Dickinson you are lovely!

by Anonymousreply 2July 26, 2017 12:45 AM

She's an old lady who's been through a lot, and a great broad. I just got the first season of Police Woman and can't wait to watch it. Getting old isn't a crime.

by Anonymousreply 3July 26, 2017 12:45 AM

Nancy, honey. Now I don't generally like to throw my name around but you really leave me no choice. It so happens that I am Miss Angie Dickinson!

by Anonymousreply 4July 26, 2017 12:45 AM

She was in her 40s during the 70s. Her milf years were nearly 50 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 5July 26, 2017 12:47 AM

She's a beautiful person. She was a remarkable mother to her Autistic daughter. I'm not aware of anyone in Hollywood ever having anything bad to say about her.

by Anonymousreply 6July 26, 2017 12:47 AM

I met her when I was a kid at the dedication of the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston. She was a class act and could not have been nicer.

by Anonymousreply 7July 26, 2017 12:48 AM

Most 85 year old women don't look that good. Go Angie!

And she's not whining about ageism like Madonna.

by Anonymousreply 8July 26, 2017 12:52 AM

Her legs were insured for $1,000,000. That was unheard of back then.

by Anonymousreply 9July 26, 2017 12:57 AM

For a second I thought that was DL fave Linda Lavin.

by Anonymousreply 10July 26, 2017 12:57 AM

She looks amazing.

by Anonymousreply 11July 26, 2017 12:58 AM

You don't *look* like Angie Dickinson, r4.

by Anonymousreply 12July 26, 2017 12:58 AM

Fuck you, OP.

I love seeing her out and about. We should all hope to be in that good a shape at 85.

by Anonymousreply 13July 26, 2017 12:58 AM

For 85, she looks amazing. I've worked with her and she's a great broad. Very funny and a total pro.

by Anonymousreply 14July 26, 2017 12:59 AM

I've altered my appearance for a movie role, R14!

by Anonymousreply 15July 26, 2017 12:59 AM

I thought the photo was of a sickly Martha Stewart.

by Anonymousreply 16July 26, 2017 1:00 AM

She looks amazing for 85.

by Anonymousreply 17July 26, 2017 1:03 AM

Her daughter committed suicide

by Anonymousreply 18July 26, 2017 1:05 AM

Miss Angie, 51 YEARS AGO!

by Anonymousreply 19July 26, 2017 1:07 AM

She's beautiful and graceful at age 85. She's always been one of my favorite stars.

by Anonymousreply 20July 26, 2017 1:08 AM

OP, die in a grease fire. Please post your pic- I'll bet Angie looks better than you. She's probably tighter too than your prolapsed rectum.

by Anonymousreply 21July 26, 2017 1:11 AM

She was a knockout back in the day.

by Anonymousreply 22July 26, 2017 1:13 AM

Remembering that smile, those legs, and that warm, friendly voice.

by Anonymousreply 23July 26, 2017 1:19 AM

by Anonymousreply 24July 26, 2017 1:22 AM

As most of us remember her.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 25July 26, 2017 1:22 AM

I also think she looks pretty good for her age. Don't see what the problem is with her appearance. At least she's not trying to look like a red hot mama like Mamie Van Doren.

by Anonymousreply 26July 26, 2017 1:22 AM

R3, it is on DL. Now come out with your hands up!!

by Anonymousreply 27July 26, 2017 1:23 AM

Was her husband Burt Bachrach gay? My Mother always thought he was.

by Anonymousreply 28July 26, 2017 1:23 AM

She actually looks quite a bit like Marlene Dietrich here, although by the same age Dietrich had longs since taken to her bed.

by Anonymousreply 29July 26, 2017 1:23 AM

What the hell is with OP? She looks great, and she's fucking 85! What a horrible person you are.

by Anonymousreply 32July 26, 2017 1:26 AM

She was one of the legendary Rat Pack dames. Men loved her--always--because she was cool and fun in addition to being a hot lady.

The young Shirley Maclaine hung with the Pack, but that was mostly a little sister thing. Other ladies--Marilyn Monroe, Juliet Prowse--were sexual conquests, but never fully admitted to the club. Angie was cool, smart, gorgeous, and fun.

Love watching her in Dressed to Kill.

by Anonymousreply 34July 26, 2017 1:32 AM

R34, I did, too. And I've referenced that brief, but really spell-binding and memorable scene in the museum to try to get my straight friends to understand how gay cruising works. Even though it's a hetero scene, it really captures a gay cruise (or at least, the kind we used to have) better than any other film I've ever seen.

by Anonymousreply 35July 26, 2017 1:49 AM

R34 beat me to it. Watch her in "Dressed to Kill". She was something. And I still love the story about her being on set about to shoot a love scene with Sinatra or somebody -- and the crew looking up to see her walking through the set stark naked without a care. In the days before that kind of thing was done (I don't think there was even nudity in the scene she was shooting).

Just a good "broad" like they don't make much anymore.

by Anonymousreply 36July 26, 2017 1:53 AM

And that's a good point about the gay cruising parallel, R35. Had not thought about that. I love the lingering stares, the wanting to leave but refusing to at the same time, the excitement mixed in with a bit of terror... It's a great sequence.

P.,S. I think she said she did that nude walk through the set to get it over with and make everyone on the crew more comfortable -- so maybe there was nudity in the scene after all. It was the '60s. Anyone know if she ever shed her clothes on-screen? (Hell, even Patty Duke and Shirley Jones did as the times changed).

by Anonymousreply 37July 26, 2017 1:58 AM

OP is a cunt.

by Anonymousreply 38July 26, 2017 2:02 AM

She totally looks like herself. And aging, but still nice looking older woman. No ghastly work done.

by Anonymousreply 39July 26, 2017 2:04 AM

^An aging

by Anonymousreply 40July 26, 2017 2:04 AM

Angie is one of the few people alive who knows the truth what really happened in old hollywood and Washington. I wish she would write a book that reveals where the dead bodies are

by Anonymousreply 41July 26, 2017 2:09 AM

[quote]P.,S. I think she said she did that nude walk through the set to get it over with and make everyone on the crew more comfortable -- so maybe there was nudity in the scene after all. R37, Angie had nude scenes in 'Dressed to Kill', but she was upset that Brian DePalma used a body double for the close-ups of her in the shower in the opening sequence. I know she also had semi-nude love scenes with Tom Skerritt and William Shatner in 'Big Bad Mama' (Tom Skerritt's ass is a treasured teenage memory). I don't remember 'Big Bad Mama II' to remember if she had any nude scenes in that one.

by Anonymousreply 42July 26, 2017 2:13 AM

For the love of God, leave Ms. Dickinson alone. She's a mere child!

by Anonymousreply 43July 26, 2017 2:13 AM

Didn't she fuck JFK?

And yeah, I think she looks good for her age, too. She had a much better look than so many others in that era--very classy yet sexy.

by Anonymousreply 44July 26, 2017 2:15 AM

She's been a Republican since the days of Nixon. Fuck her.

by Anonymousreply 45July 26, 2017 2:22 AM

Bacharach wrote HIS book already, which I found at a Dollar Store and worth every cent. :) Lots of good Angie talk in that one!

by Anonymousreply 46July 26, 2017 2:22 AM

[quote]Didn't she fuck JFK?

Yes, she's supposed to have, as well as Johnny Carson.

by Anonymousreply 47July 26, 2017 2:23 AM

Loved that elevator scene in Dressed To Kill as wel. Not when the worst happens, but the part with the kid who stares at her, and Angie feels a bit dirty.

by Anonymousreply 48July 26, 2017 2:27 AM

Angie will never spill any secrets. She's a classy broad.

by Anonymousreply 71July 26, 2017 5:55 PM

r70 Then DL will hate her.

by Anonymousreply 72July 26, 2017 5:57 PM

Not necessarily. There are some like Jan Hooks -- and maybe Angie is one of them too -- that get a nice respect from everyone here.

by Anonymousreply 73July 26, 2017 6:59 PM

Angie is classy and still beautiful. I adore and admire her. If she had plastic surgery, it must have been very modest. She did not go crazy with endless facelifts and Botox. She aged gracefully. Many beautiful, old time stars have ruined their looks with too much plastic surgery. They've become caricatures of themselves.

by Anonymousreply 74July 26, 2017 7:19 PM

Are you blind, R67???? Angie was and still is beautiful. She has inner beauty, as well. She's a lovely person and a great Hollywood star!

That is a funny story where they surprised her on the set with "Angie Dickinson, this is your life!" She took one look and said, "Oh, hell no!" (or worse) and ran off the set. Show cancelled.

I was kind of pissed that "The Comeback" used her as the butt of an "old" joke (which I never got anyway; seems like Valerie would own being older and wiser, not want to be hip but whatever...) The discontinued salad that Valerie wanted at the Palm Springs resort was called the Angie Dickinson. It embarrasses her to say it.

From the article that R80 so kindly posted:

[quote]David Thomson assumes the rumor of a Kennedy affair is true, but lauds Dickinson because she has never once โ€œtalked about it publicly, taken advantage of it, tried to use it to boost her celebrity, or said one word to detract from the dignity of the presidency.โ€ Or, more to the point, as Sinatra liked to say about Dickinson: โ€œHow wonderful it is to meet a lady whoโ€™s a gentleman.โ€

[quote]She met President Clinton once, at a Democratic fund-raiser given by film mogul Lew Wasserman. โ€œI was standing next to [actress] Suzanne Pleshette on the receiving line,โ€ she recalls about the encounter, โ€œand as he got closer, I said to her, โ€˜My God, Iโ€™m beginning to sweat!โ€™ And then he was in front of me, bigger than life, and so great-looking. He said when he met me, โ€˜At last!โ€™โ€ He must have known of her long-standing connection to the Kennedys and her support for Democrats. In fact, she once famously joked, โ€œI have never knowingly dated a Republican.โ€

[quote]The erotic content is far more intense than anything she had done before, and the fact that most of her 20 or so minutes of screen time are acted in silence makes her performance all the more remarkable. Dickinson asked De Palma if he โ€œwanted to put in dialogue in the museum scene, and he said heโ€™d written lines, but when he saw the rushes, he knew that they werenโ€™t needed. And he was right. He knew exactly what he wanted.โ€

[quote]Johnny Carson, who was a close friend for many years, was โ€œa great cardplayer. He was an amateur magician.โ€ Dickinson was a frequent guest on The Tonight Show, where she ad-libbed her most famous remark. โ€œI had a funny outfit onโ€”funny to Johnny,โ€ she recalls, โ€œand he said, โ€˜Tell me, do you dress for women, or do you dress for men?โ€™ And I said, โ€˜I dress for women. I undress for men.โ€™โ€

by Anonymousreply 86July 27, 2017 1:27 AM

Don't trash Angie. She's a sweetheart!

by Anonymousreply 88July 27, 2017 2:13 AM

I love Angie and I love that association at R85 with Suzanne Pleshette, another cool, smart, sexy 60s lady.

Sure, they both might have had bigger, more award-worthy careers, had they only worked in film. But they both had good long runs in TV, had lots of fans, and lived very interesting lives.

I think she's tremendous.

by Anonymousreply 94July 27, 2017 10:29 AM

I think Angie looks fine indeed more than fine for her age. She also strikes me as one of the more sane and grounded of the Hollywood stars from any era. She has in the past had cosmetic surgery, she kind of acknowledged this in a 2011 interview with Piers Morgan but she hasn't been excessive and must have had a good surgeon who has gave her the good for your age look rather than ott artifice.

by Anonymousreply 95August 18, 2017 5:53 AM

Isn't that Rome Adventure where Angie plays a spoiled needy rich bitch after Troy who Suzanne is in love with. Rosanno Brazzi is in love with Suzanne but the formerly beautiful man is getting old so we don't care if he ends up alone.

Add in Constance Ford manager of a book shop in the Piazza Navona and you have a DL film classic.

by Anonymousreply 97August 18, 2017 6:16 AM

[R96] I certainly agree that Angies film resume is a bit underappreciated. She was no A lister but she's been in a few memorable films and roles. I often wonder if she'd have made a better Krystal in Dynasty than Linda Evans if she'd had of accepted the role.

by Anonymousreply 98August 18, 2017 6:17 AM

She looks fine for a woman of her age, but blondes typically don't age very well.

by Anonymousreply 99August 18, 2017 6:26 AM

[R99] Does that apply to blonde men also?

by Anonymousreply 100August 18, 2017 6:35 AM

She must have been 47 years old here and she was gorgeous, blonde or not. She's a knockout and she certainly hadn't had any surgery at this point. She was a grown up and all the more feminine and sexy for it.

can someone recommend some good angie movies to me besides dressed to kill?

by Anonymousreply 104August 18, 2017 1:39 PM

[R101] Going by photos on Google image I don't think Angie really started with "major" cosmetic surgery until the late 1980s or early 1990s but she never went over the top with it. To me she was the most beautiful butterscotch blonde Hollywood ever had. Her looks are distinct and not generic in my opinion.

by Anonymousreply 105August 18, 2017 1:45 PM

Still beautiful, inside and out. I met her years ago at a Broadway show, she and her daughter were seated in the row directly in front of mine. We exchanged pleasantries and, when she asked my name and I responded, she exclaimed "Why that was my maiden name!"

A lovely lady, our Miss Dickinson, and I hope she takes her secrets to her final resting place on this plane, many years from now. She looks not only stunning, but robust. I think it's all due to your attitude about life and how you treat others.

by Anonymousreply 106August 18, 2017 4:14 PM

Thanks. [R106] I'm inclined to agree with you. I also believe she was a carer for years for her sister who had early onset dementia and that was prioritised over work offers so to me she's this strange paradox of being 100% Hollywood and 100% grounded and real and not affected or egotistical.

by Anonymousreply 107August 18, 2017 4:38 PM

I love avacados because of her. ๐Ÿ˜˜

by Anonymousreply 116August 21, 2017 11:41 PM

Confusing thread title. I mean aftermath of what exactly? Nearly 86 years of life that's mainly been well lived. Next year Angie will be the same age Gloria Stuart was when she played the old woman Rose Dawson in Titanic and she looks nowhere near as old as Gloria did at that age.

by Anonymousreply 117August 21, 2017 11:47 PM

by Anonymousreply 119August 22, 2017 4:33 AM

Yeah,OP, you fucked up big time on this one.

by Anonymousreply 125August 26, 2017 5:15 AM

OP, let's see your picture and age so we can judge. Presenting, as well.

by Anonymousreply 126August 26, 2017 6:05 AM

Don't cry for Angie OP she's very ok with being older. She's friends with Joan Collins who was in two episodes of Policewoman. Angie is one of the women Collins interviewed for her book "My Friend's Secrets" , a health and beauty book. Angie came across as well balanced and sensible and accepting of the aging process. Not hanging on grimly and desperately to the illusion of youth and glamour or denying her aging and its physical effects. (Unlike some of the others Joan interviewed.....)

by Anonymousreply 127August 26, 2017 6:34 AM

R104, I think a sort of breakthrough film for her was the Western "Rio Bravo." She plays a saloon girl called "Feathers" and she is wonderfully insolent. Howard Hawks directed her, and the women in all his films were sassy (he discovered Lauren Bacall).

She's wonderful in a TV movie called "The Suicide's Wife, " but I'm not sure how available that is.

There's the creepy, futuristic TV movie "The Wild Palms," where she's evil.

In "The Chase," she's Brando's wife. The movie has an amazing cast, but is kind of a mess, but fascinating.

There's not that many glamorous actresses in their 80's. Jane Fonda comes close but she's a young 79. Raquel Welch is also glamorous at 76.

Sophia Loren at 82 is still trying though.

Sophia just needs better wigs, thinned out and styled better. It looks like she hung on to crap from the Eva Gabor collection.

by Anonymousreply 130August 26, 2017 8:01 AM

Loren should have let herself be what she is-an old Italian grandmother.

But do either of her sons have children?

by Anonymousreply 131August 26, 2017 8:22 AM

You can't have an Angie Dickinson thread without the elevator scene from "Dressed to Kill" (1980).

Sophia should lose the dark colored wigs, go for white maybe, something more natural to her age that would go with her skin tone.

by Anonymousreply 133August 27, 2017 3:55 AM

Someone wrote Angie is repug. No, she's a Democrat.

by Anonymousreply 134August 27, 2017 4:05 AM

Miss Honor Blackman was still beautiful into her 80s. Here she is at 86 in 2011. That is her hais. She don't wear wigs.

Nobody talks shit about Angie D, OP!

by Anonymousreply 137August 27, 2017 4:19 AM

Angie looks fantastic! Such an underrated actress.

by Anonymousreply 138August 27, 2017 4:44 AM

R136, How could we forget your EMPHATIC performance, dear?

Gina Lollobrigida is still around. Haven't seen her in years though.

by Anonymousreply 141August 28, 2017 3:48 AM

[R114] Gina was poorly in hospital at the beginning of this year. Pneumonia I think but not 100% sure. Recently turned 90 if memory serves me right so her low profile is likely linked to her health issues.

[141] I meant ^^^

Anyone who bashes Angie Dickinson should be forced to take an elevator ride with Bobbi.

If she'd gone the "facial fillers and trout lips" route, we'd all be roasting her for pathetically trying to hang on to her youth.

by Anonymousreply 145August 28, 2017 4:29 AM

Lovely still.

by Anonymousreply 146January 14, 2019 10:42 AM

Wasn't her daughter a tard who killed herself?

by Anonymousreply 147January 14, 2019 2:10 PM

R147 = a tard who should have killed his assholish self years ago. Better yet, R147's momma should have used a coat hanger when she had the chance.

by Anonymousreply 148January 14, 2019 2:17 PM

R148, the coat hanger is sticking from his head.

by Anonymousreply 149January 14, 2019 2:28 PM

She was a great mother, especially dealing with that asshole Bacharach. But there is a reason she won't write a memoir. She was literally pimped out by Frank.

by Anonymousreply 150January 14, 2019 6:25 PM

I remember when her legs were insured for a million dollars. At the time, I don't think anything like that had been done before.

SAD FINAL DAYS!

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES, ANGIE!

by Anonymousreply 153January 14, 2019 8:25 PM

She's got pretty bad arthritis in those hands.

by Anonymousreply 154January 14, 2019 8:27 PM

One of my friends is a playwright, and he wrote an off-Broadway show that didn't do very well about 20 years ago, but the lead female part was of a very famous TV actress after her glory days in a popular TV show. The role eventually went to a very well-known NY theatrical actress, but lots of famous TV actresses auditioned for the role, including Susan Dey and Loretta Swit. He said that by far the best reading for the role, after the stage actress they went with, was Angie Dickinson, whom he said was warm and intelligent and funny. He said it broke his heart they could not cast her, and also that the play was not in the end a success so they could not offer her (if she were interested) to follow up as a replacement for the stage actress.

by Anonymousreply 155January 14, 2019 8:30 PM

Sheโ€™s fine

by Anonymousreply 156January 14, 2019 8:47 PM

She was born in North Dakota yet she's a Democrat. Insult her here at your own risk!

by Anonymousreply 157January 14, 2019 9:00 PM

I am Pepper's undercover hat. I assured no one would be hip to the fact that she's the Heat. Don't you mess with my girl, cracker!

R6 You say you're not aware of anyone in Hollywood ever having anything bad to say about her.

I can tell you her hairdressers over the years struggled to find a 'do' which minimised her wide head.

by Anonymousreply 161January 14, 2019 9:41 PM

R159 Angie Dickinson's challenge for her hairdressers was the same as Jennifer Aniston's.

by Anonymousreply 162January 14, 2019 9:44 PM

Jennifer was known for her hair. Angie, for her pussy.

by Anonymousreply 163January 15, 2019 6:11 AM

Awe r155 That makes me feel kind of bad for Angie.I would have loved to see her on stage .I think she did not fully get the chance to shine and showcase all of her acting talent range in the film and tv roles she had .I do think she is underrated and underappreciated .
