Fraus do have a fascination with incest... Will Tudor is just the best actor on the show, making a monster seem vulnerable and sympathetic. Even Kat has improved and was more than adequate in this episode. Really enjoyed this episode overall.

I know that Matthew is the favorite but where do the other guys rank? They're all pretty good looking and have nice bodies.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | July 28, 2017 7:11 AM |
R14 Dom and Alberto are about neck and neck in popularity. Harry is in a class of his own because he already have fans from Glee, but even so, Matthew gets more likes on his tweets than everyone else's during live tweet sessions. The show really needs him to do more promoting, and have more Malec on screen, since ratings have been slacking for season 2b.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | July 28, 2017 7:28 AM |
I meant how do you guys rank them on here? I know they all have their followers but most people just talk about Matthew in here.

I don't care about the others but they're hot. Matt is far hotter, that's the thing.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | July 28, 2017 6:07 PM |
R16 I think they are so different... there is no ranking. Matt is most popular here because he's a good looking guy playing gay.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | July 28, 2017 8:24 PM |
I've read that Jade (Meliorn) is gay. I can't find any articles where he says it himself though.

by Anonymous | reply 25 | August 1, 2017 4:11 AM |
Wow. Fantastic episode. The flashbacks were great and the making out scene was pretty well done. I think it's the best episode of the entire run so far.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | August 1, 2017 4:25 AM |
As much as I enjoy bashing Shadowhunters, this episode was better than usual thanks to Malec. It seems they've hired a gay coach for Harry.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | August 1, 2017 5:10 PM |
Didn't enjoy this episode that much. The werewolf drama was boring. Even Simon couldn't make it interesting. The Jonathan reveal was okay and suspenseful, but it also made the Shadowhunters seem so dumb. The saving grace is of course the Malec flashbacks. They are really nicely put together. In contrast, the present day Malec is rather depressing, though.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | August 1, 2017 9:39 PM |
Just the Malec scenes from 2x18... for those who don't care about the other stuff

So distracting that the flashback scenes didn't match continuity with the original scenes. In the flashback Magnus has a goatee when Alec slept over after having drinks; he was smooth faced in the original. He was wearing a jacket in the more detailed sex scene while in the original cut he wasn't wearing one.

by Anonymous | reply 48 | August 8, 2017 7:04 PM |
2x19 was kind of meh... I just don't care much about the Downworlders. Malec is MIA, and Clace is so cringe-worthy even without the incest angle. Much prefer Clary with Simon. This show really doesn't have a budget to do a werewolves vs. Valentine minions fight, so it's kind of silly to build up to it and then have it occur off screen. The mano-a-mano fight between Jace and Jonathan was pretty good, though. I like the brotherly hate between them. So did they kill Sebastian/Jonathan or not with that body floating in the river? In the books, he doesn't get killed this early, so I am expecting a second act from Seb.

R52 I would say more of a guilty pleasure. It's no "Game of Thrones", but a lot of eye candy.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | August 12, 2017 3:57 AM |
R52 Not really... The only reason it's discussed here is because there is a gay couple, and Matt is hot. The source material was meant for teenage girls, so you can imagine. The show has changed things to make it more appealing to a general audience but there's only so much they can do.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | August 12, 2017 4:00 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 87 | November 29, 2017 7:38 AM |
Dom will have a core of supporters but this will never be forgotten (or forgiven) by many. Big whoops. At the moment Tumblr is livid. They're also wondering if language like this is the norm which of course incriminates Matt as well though most of the anger is at Dom.
Can't say it's not deserved though;there are some words that simply should not be used (at least by straight white dudebros) and you would imagine on a show like Shadowhunters there would be at least some understanding...but I suppose straight white dudebros
by Anonymous | reply 88 | November 29, 2017 8:21 AM |
R88 If they want to use it at home/in private among dudebros, no one can stop them, but the set is still a workplace like any other, and there should be no tolerance for such derogatory language even in jest between buddies. Dom's behavior is really irresponsible because it casts a bad light on the whole show and the rest of the cast. The show really should have done these livecasts in more controlled environment. Spontaneity is not always a plus for PR.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | November 29, 2017 8:34 AM |
There's a large chunk of the Shadowhunters fandom that already hates Dominic. I wonder if they would be as upset with other cast members as they are with Dominic of it had been anyone else. Or does this finally give them fuel that they can actually use against him? I'm not defending him for saying the word. He shouldn't have said it. I don't think Matt is innocent either. If the cameras weren't rolling, he probably wouldn't have cared as much. But I also don't view the world in black and white. I don't think Dom hates gay oeople. He's just an idiotic straight boy who called his friend a bad word. In a backwards way, it's almost a term of endearment. Context is important. Matt plays a gay guy, but I doubt that Dom called him a fag because he's playing Alec. I don't hold celebrities up on a pedistal so when these things happen I'm rarely hurt by them. I'm a little disappointed and I cringed hard while watching the video, but I don't really hate Dom. I wish people had sent him messages about how hurt he is instead of messages that called him ugly (appearance) and mentioned death threats. People are allowed to be hurt. I hope that Dom uses this as a learning experience and grows up a little. He's too old to be this dumb.

by Anonymous | reply 92 | November 29, 2017 5:20 PM |
R92 Matt is like a complicit victim... even if he never uses the word himself, he seems to accept it as "normal" banter if Dom so carefreely threw it out there.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | November 29, 2017 6:30 PM |
I thought they always have a PR person around when they do these live chat... This could all be avoided if they'd just let everyone know Matt was busy on a live chat... do not disturb or be on your best behavior.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | November 29, 2017 7:26 PM |
I wonder if (when) he'll get the pink slip. Freeform prides itself on being a progressive channel and most of its shows have one or two LGBT characters (The Fosters has like 6). Shadowhunters did win a GLAAD Award and people aren't going to forget that the male LEAD casually dropped a gay slur. Especially this show, where the fans are so politically correct that it hurts. I don't think Dom hates gay people or is homophobic, but it's juvenile.
Don't get why people are yelling at Matt on social media (What did they expect him to do? He was doing a job and no one knows what/how he talked to Dom offscreen) They shouldn't have included him in the apology video.
Either way, this show loses. They can write him off like Isaiah Washington or keep him and the show suffers
by Anonymous | reply 95 | November 30, 2017 1:20 AM |
R95 I think this show is probably going to get canceled. The ratings is only so-so to begin with (not that Freeform has anything doing much better). Can you believe the mood on set after this little slip of tongue?
by Anonymous | reply 96 | November 30, 2017 7:12 PM |
R96 If I were on that show, I'd be PISSED. A kiss of death. Matt especially because he was dragged into it
by Anonymous | reply 97 | November 30, 2017 7:30 PM |
R97 Yep, all because he couldn't keep his dudebro douchiness out of the workplace! Matt should be okay. He plays a gay character and gives it 100%. He can wash off any taint Dom got on him given some time and distance. Even if he's not exactly an innocent victim, his fans can rationalize it that way.

Hamilton star Javier Muñoz is coming to season 3 of Shadowhunters
by Anonymous | reply 99 | December 27, 2017 6:24 AM |
Just finished watching seasons one and two over the Christmas break.
What happened between season 1 and season 2 to improve the writing? Season 1 was cringeworthy, both plot and writing-wise, but Season 2 has that ridiculous opening credit sequence where the Shadowhunters are all standing around doing poses and trying to look fierce. Season 2 has better special effects, obviously a bigger budget, and decent writing - it's still not great, e.g. "I'm just taking it one day at a time!" lines from the Hispanic actress with the obvious Spanish accent what's her name, and I was really hoping the precocious brat child would die from his injuries, but the second season has been much more consistent with storyline. I notice they got rid of pointless stupid shit like the glowing light thing "it's like a flashlight, but cooler!" and the lead girl's ability to open portals and turn things into paintings has disappeared.
The scene with the angel at the end is kind of silly too - so angels are genies now? And that angel was pretty straightforward as opposed to the "rescued" angel. And heaven has an agenda? And what happened to the Mortal Instruments? If they can only be used once, why were they not destroyed the first time the angel was summoned?
I also watched - well, fast forwarded through - the original movie. GOOD LORD that was terrible. The special effects were great (the demons were especially terrifying) and the sets were nice, but goddamn. The guy who played Jace was skeevy and gross in an anorexic way - not hot at all - and the Shadowhunters were all British for some reason. The writing was uneven, much like season one of the series. And some of the setups were dumb, like, "Sure, I'm going to rig an explosion with the gas stove when a demon is fighting me and shield myself with the refrigerator door because that's naturally what someone would think of doing". And the Circle members, including Valentine, reminded me of John Travolta's Battlefield Earth.
Also apparently the Institute was run by about six people. I think the show spent all its money on special effects, not extras.

Tumblr won't let anyone talk bad about Malec. If you think Alec has more chemistry with Jace than Magnus then you're racist. It sucks because I want them to be better than they are.
by Anonymous | reply 106 | January 17, 2018 4:19 PM |
^^^ Isn't he supposed to have chemistry with J on the count of their being a pair o' bottoms or whatever they call each other?
by Anonymous | reply 107 | January 17, 2018 6:47 PM |
The writers and cast act like they wanted people to see Jace and Alec as brothers all along but the first season had a different person in charge and it was obvious they weren't ignoring Alec's crush on Jace. Then someone new comes in and suddenly Jace and Alec are calling each other brothers. They briefly brought up his feelings again when we saw young Jace and Alec.
No one has the right chemistry with the people they're being paired up with. Jace has more chemistry with Simon and Maia than he does with Clary. Magnus and Alec have no chemistry (and it just keeps getting worse). It wouldn't be so bad but they're in a different relationship every other episode and I get that it's a teen show but the revolving door of relationships is creating a weird pace for the show.
by Anonymous | reply 108 | January 17, 2018 7:06 PM |
R108 The source material makes it impossible to pair Jace with anyone else except Claire, and the same for Alec with Magnus. Most of the fans all come from the books, and expect the "endgame" to be the same even if the show plays around with the other details or make up new stuff along the way. Before I also though Jace and Alec would be great together at least as a fan fantasy, but after the actor's gay slur incident, I have lost any interest in that.
by Anonymous | reply 109 | January 17, 2018 11:04 PM |
Neither Magnus nor Jace are good enough for Alec... ;-)
by Anonymous | reply 110 | January 18, 2018 3:05 AM |
It's not that I care about these characters being endgame. I know that they're going to be end game. But some kind of chemistry has to be built up if it's not already there. I didn't feel like the lead to Jace and Clary getting together worked because they don't have enough chemistry (or acting skills) to convey two people who can't be apart from one another. I'd rather Jace hook up with Maia and Clary find herself for awhile before we're forced to endure their lack of chemistry. I don't know if there's any hope for Magnus and Alec because they're so cringeworthy. They need better writing and some acting lessons.

I've only seen it on Netflix, but it's (this season) being billed as a Netflix exclusive. Never heard of Freeform. They've only shown the first two episodes of s3 so far. I had assumed it was on the CW or something originally since it seems like one of their shows, but S1 was bad even for them.
The original guy who directed the movie and the first season was the same, right? He was terrible. First season had awful writing and the special effects were crap. The second season became a lot better, after the director from the first season left. The writing still wasn't great but not nearly as bad dialogue as the first, and the plots/motivations were a lot better constructed. The cheesy ending at the end of S2 though, with the summoning of a magic genie, was dumb - would have been much better had Raziel kept his mouth shut and just been floaty and mysterious.
Harry Shum Jr. isn't the best actor - you can see him "acting". Daddario too, but he's so pretty it makes up for it.
I love the church set they started using in s2-3 when their budget was much bigger.

Riverdale is primarily known as a CW show, but you can still get it from Netflix as soon it has aired on CW. I think what throws people off is that their version doesn't have any distinct Channel Logo in any of the corners of the screens when they watch it through Netflix.

Harold Zwart directed the movie starring Lily Collins and Jamie Campell Bower. He isn't involved in any way with the TV show. Never was.
McG owns the film (adaption) rights of the source material. That's why he is credited in both the film he produced and the TV show that someone else is running (Ed Decter). It's a licensing deal that goes through him instead of the writer of the original source material.

I agree with you R135.

[quote]Yeah I watched this last night and there is NO chemistry. They seem like two straight guys playing gay.
r132, only one of the characters is gay. The warlock is supposed to be bisexual/pansexual and has mentioned his love affairs with women.
by Anonymous | reply 142 | April 1, 2018 1:41 PM |
The more domestic Malec gets the more obvious it is that the actors have no romantic chemistry. You can't say that on Tumblr though or you'll get accused of being both racist and homophobic. Even if you're not white or straight.
by Anonymous | reply 143 | April 1, 2018 4:07 PM |
The fangirls' idea of chemistry is that they look pretty together. Don't bother looking for any "heat" between the two characters. There wasn't much of that in the books either. They flirted/dated/split/reunited/adopted kids... The end.
by Anonymous | reply 144 | April 2, 2018 10:51 AM |
A lot of people see what they want to see. When they want a real, or fictional, couple to work they see undeniable chemistry. If they don't then they don't see the sparks flying.

I was glad to see Raphael get all emotional in talking with his sister. He's a sweetheart at heart. His scene with Simon shows that they are the best pairing. Will they ever consummate their hard crush on each other?

r146 Yeah, those two have insane chemistry together. Just off the charts.
You can test for that during auditions for sure, but sometimes it only reveals itself later on when it's already too late. Too bad because they'd be a smoking hot couple.

There is something so hammy about David Castro's performance. Like daily soap hammy. It makes his scenes unintentionally hilarious for me (like that scene with his sister on the park bench or trying to rip the chain out of the ground). He is a great screamer though.

Anyone familiar with this "V-Wars" source material that is going to be adapted by Netflix? Is it similar to Shadowhunters? Any homo stuff in it?
I'll make a thread about it when the production is a bit further along. I've got a feeling Netlifx will not suffer any bad acting in this one.

Simon's muscly arm roomie is the Monkey King in a new Aussie adaptation about to hit netflix. The show's kinda meh, but he's hot. The real question I have, tho, is why is he named after a beverage?

Nice. Steve Byers played the other gay Shadowhunter
by Anonymous | reply 157 | April 18, 2018 4:46 AM |
They've done a really good job fleshing out the universe since the first season. It's still not a good show, but it's kind of pleasantly mediocre instead of SyFy Original Series level bad.
Is the actress who plays Isabelle a native English speaker? There are times were I detect an accent I can't quite place, and it doesn't really sound Canadian.
by Anonymous | reply 158 | April 18, 2018 5:05 PM |
She's Canadian, though raised in Texas. Her parents are Mexican and Lebanese.

by Anonymous | reply 166 | April 26, 2018 2:32 PM |
R166 Alec is perfect to the fangurls and can't cheat. They are even claming that flirty Shadowhunter (I think he's called Underhill or something) is a Malec supporter, LOL! No, if he's a real gay man, he's fantasizing about fucking bossy Alec on his desk. The show should have cast that guy to be younger and look more like Jace, so he would be more tempting to Alec.
by Anonymous | reply 167 | May 7, 2018 3:06 PM |
Watching Alec flirt with the other Shadowhunter is painful too. I get that he's supposed to be a bit uptight or something, but ugh. Not romantic at all. And I find myself hoping the warlock turns evil or something so they break up.
by Anonymous | reply 168 | May 7, 2018 3:08 PM |
I don't think Alec was knowingly flirting. He's a bit dense when it comes to guys who aren't Magnus.
by Anonymous | reply 169 | May 7, 2018 3:10 PM |
There is something so off with Steve Byer's styling that makes him so stupid. It comes off like the 60 year old Datalounge troll who swears he looks no older than 25 (or 30?) when he wears Abercrombie & Fitch clothes.
by Anonymous | reply 170 | May 7, 2018 3:11 PM |
r169 he wasn't flirting at all! You could tell the other Shadowhunter was the second time they encountered each other, but who starts flirting by saying "I think your relationship with the warlock is so inspirational for me and others like me in The Organization!! *heart emoji* It means a lot! Keep having that relationship forever or you will let us all down!!!"
NO sexual tension at all. Until I see a shirtless sex scene with the new Shadowhunter ghey, I will be Unhappy! The sex scene should make Daddario UNCOMFORTABLE, which means you know it'll be good.
by Anonymous | reply 171 | May 7, 2018 3:13 PM |
Byer is a hot guy, but the show really has a problem when it comes to costume and style. I still remember the atrocious costumes of the female Shadowhunter leaders, like the Lightwood mother, in those ubertight spandex monstrosities that made them look like B-movie softporn performers from the 80s in season one.
by Anonymous | reply 172 | May 7, 2018 3:18 PM |
Byers is hot, but is definitely showing his age. I'd take him 10 - 15 years ago.
by Anonymous | reply 173 | May 7, 2018 3:20 PM |
R170 LOL. You're right. He looks like he wandered into the wrong show by mistake. That stiff acting and non-chemistry between Matt and him makes that scene totally weird. There was another Shadowhunter underling from prev seasons, Raj or something, who did seem to have a crush on Alec. If he were still around, it would be neat for him to could have come out to Alec.
by Anonymous | reply 174 | May 7, 2018 3:23 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 176 | May 7, 2018 3:26 PM |
Byers' role would work if he were a veteran Shadowhunter who is in the NY institute in an advisory position to help Alec run the institute. I am sorry, but I can't buy Underhill being Alec's underling.
by Anonymous | reply 177 | May 7, 2018 3:29 PM |
r176 I'll have to watch it again because he sounded a bit like a Fangurl (even though Alec is 400 years younger than him).
by Anonymous | reply 178 | May 7, 2018 3:29 PM |
I think the writers decided the easiest way to have the Shadowhunters just do what they wanted would be to put them in charge of the Institute, but that just made things too simple.

R175 There's a Shut up, Raj meme someway. Raj liked to give his unsolicited opinion.
by Anonymous | reply 180 | May 7, 2018 3:30 PM |
Raymond Ablack (Raj) was on Degrassi: Next Generation. He was introduced as a Christian homophobe who gets punched by Marco (Adamo Ruggiero) after Sav (Raymond Ablack) insulted him.
by Anonymous | reply 181 | May 7, 2018 3:35 PM |
R179 The show totally pulled that out of its ass. It makes the characters way more grown up than they are in the books, but plot wise, it dispenses the need for an antagonistic adult character they had to deal with. But they could have had Mama Lightwood come back as a regular and be the supportive Head of Institute instead of exiling her.
by Anonymous | reply 182 | May 7, 2018 3:35 PM |
Does the show even follow the books at this point? All I know is that the author of the books hates the show (guess she doesn't get any money off it, because she gave the filming licensing rights to McG?)
by Anonymous | reply 183 | May 7, 2018 3:39 PM |
R183 At this point, only the character name and background still follow the book. Even in the second season, while the general plot points like Simon becoming a Daylighter and Jace's resurrection were still there, the details changed significantly. This season deviates even more, and the show is probably losing the book fans and have to stand on its own shaky merit. If I were the showrunner, I would throw in more shirtless scenes and Malec scenes to keep the fangurls interested.
by Anonymous | reply 184 | May 7, 2018 3:50 PM |
That's something, at least. The plot the first season was so contrived and the writing was so bad I was surprised they got a second season with a bigger budget. That being said, it was better than the horrible movie. I had assumed the author had actually written that drivel but if not maybe the books won't be as terrible as I imagined.
by Anonymous | reply 185 | May 7, 2018 3:55 PM |
I think the Maia/Jordan background story follows closely from the books. I don't recall Lilith being so front and center in the books or the resurrection of Sebastian being so dragged out. Jace and the Owl subplot I don't recall at all from the books, so it could be original material. I think Jace being under Lilith's spell is inspired from a somewhat later plot of Jace under Sebastian's mind control. There is nothing wrong with having original plots, but the show just tends to come up with boring ones, like Luke's lesbian partner getting dragged into the Shadow World.
by Anonymous | reply 186 | May 7, 2018 4:12 PM |
I think the show does struggle with giving guys like Luke something to do. But then I guess trying to keep his pack in order seems to be getting too tedious for the show.
by Anonymous | reply 187 | May 7, 2018 4:14 PM |
R187 Luke should have quit as a policeman after the whole Valentine War, then he wouldn't have to be saddled with the partner.

Great spring finale! So many cliffhangers and finally that bitch is dead. Can't wait until the second half starts this summer.
by Anonymous | reply 193 | May 16, 2018 5:56 AM |
I am only up to episode 8... I enjoyed it more than the rest of the season because of the Jalec angst. Like when evil Jace said, Alec would choose to be with Jace over Magnus, if Jace were available. I was like, thank you for stating the obvious! LOL So the writing was above average in those scenes where Alec and Izzy went into Jace's head to rescue him, but unfortunately, the acting was rather subpar. At least Blondie tried to scrunch up his face to show Jace's torment, but Matt was so wooden in those scenes! He's lucky he's pretty so as to distract from the lack of acting skills.
by Anonymous | reply 194 | May 17, 2018 3:28 AM |
Okay I got caught up, finally. (spoilers!)
The last episode was pretty good! I liked Valentine coming back and then being invincible and then getting killed by Clarie. Although if she can bring people back to life with a rune, why didn't she just do that to Jace? Also what happened to her "turning things into drawings and restoring them" power? They kept that from the movie (which was a stupid plot point) and in the first season and then just got rid of it the second season and never mentioned it again.
Obviously she's not dead, despite the annoying vampire whining about killing her. She'll probably wake up in Ebert or whatever the hell dimension is called. I wonder if she'll run into Asmodius. She'll run into the restored son of Lilith, though, of course. And she'll have to battle her way out with runes and shit. Or she'll immediately get captured and some Man will save her.
I still don't understand how she's blaming herself for the demon because she used the Wish (Angels as genies, which I thought was a stupid plot point). They tried to say "there will be consequences!" but the main one seems to be that the Shadowhunter Institute people are angry with her. And the whole "saving the wish to destroy the shadow world" doesn't make any sense either, because couldn't they just have used it to make the shadow world peaceful and nonviolent? I mean, it's a wish, not a multiple-choice menu.
I can see the pending plot line for the warlock and the weirdly young Institute head - the warlock is going to get all whiny about losing his powers which is going to drive him into the arms of the gay shadowhunter, which of course the warlock will discover because he'll probably get his powers back right before for some side plot (we must recover the Chalice of PowerRestoring!@ No I haven't read the books).
by Anonymous | reply 195 | May 21, 2018 6:05 PM |
Oh, and the whole "Mark of Cain" thing was cool when it blew up the top floor of that building. Although it would have been cooler if Lilith hadn't known what the mark truly was, because it was really convenient that the vampire just had to attack her son to get her to attack him. And what happened with the psycho blonde vampire? And since when is the vampire's mind-altering power so strong it can make something like the death of a son a reality? We've never seen Simon use his influence power like that before, I think they should have built that up throughout the season with him using it a few times so we knew how powerful it was. Or SOME vampire using it.
by Anonymous | reply 196 | May 21, 2018 6:42 PM |
Also if the mark is so powerful why doesn't the faerie queen just put it on herself?
by Anonymous | reply 197 | May 21, 2018 7:13 PM |
R195 The plots this season have really left the books behind for better or worse. The runes are totally arbitrary... they just pop up conveniently to push the plot along, so no real logic to it. The consequence is that resurrected Jace is not quite right, and mentally vulnerable to attack by demons like Lilith. In the books, the Malec relationship is supposed to be broken up because Alec tried to make Magnus mortal (yeah, so dumb) and Alec would mope around pining for Magnus like a teenager until the last book of the series, so this is where it's good the show departs from the books and make Alec older and give the relationship more adult development. Also, in one episode, Valentine coming back shows how much better a villain he is than Lilith. Sebastian is a close second, so it's good he is finally returning.
R196 Raphael had used the mind-altering power before. I think it was on Simon's family, in fact.
by Anonymous | reply 198 | May 21, 2018 7:13 PM |
r198 it was so long ago I'd forgotten. And I remember Simon trying the mind power and not doing it correctly, but suddenly he can use it super well on his mother? Seemed plot convenient. However I suppose that's no surprise, they are all over the place with the plot.
Jace wasn't resurrected by a rune though, he was resurrected by the Wish.
I thought Lilith was a good villain, but it's a little weird how everyone is hispanic and she looked too much like Jace's mother so it was confusing.
by Anonymous | reply 199 | May 21, 2018 7:18 PM |
R197 I think there was some mumbo jumbo from the Faerie Queen about the mark being meant for a Daylighter when Lilith demanded she take the mark off Simon. In the books, it was Clary who put the mark on Simon for his protection, if I recall correctly.
by Anonymous | reply 200 | May 21, 2018 7:18 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 201 | May 21, 2018 7:20 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 206 | May 22, 2018 12:10 PM |
I don't like Malec, but I do like Alec and the idea that his character is gay. And the actor that plays Alec is super hot. The actor that plays Magnus I thought had an early scene where he showed off some abs but since then they seem to be doing that "pregnancy bump" thing where he's always half-clothed or covering his stomach.
They don't show Alec shirtless enough, for some reason. One of the fun things about the show is the eye candy. And IIRC the vampire Simon has a pretty hot body too.
by Anonymous | reply 207 | May 22, 2018 1:30 PM |
I like Magnus as the quirky unlikely friend who can be there and support Alec but I’m not a huge fan of them together. The « obvious » pairing is with Jace but it’s an impossible scenario (yea compared to what) and if they ever take it there, the episode where they actually hook up will mark the beginning of the end of the show.
by Anonymous | reply 208 | May 22, 2018 7:48 PM |
R207 I like that they write Alec as more mature and in charge this season. It fits better with the actor's physique and mannerism. I actually found the meeting Alec had with the new high warlock to be hotter than the Malec scenes. Alec was putting on the charms and the other warlock was indulging/eye-fucking the handsome head of the Institute. It doesn't help tha the Malec chemistry has degenerated into this neediness between them rather than any passion. It's like Alec always needs help or reassurance from Magnus and Magnus also needs to sacrifice his strength or well-being to help Alec. It just gets old and repetitive. But maybe that's what the fangurls go for.
R208 The last 3 episodes were the best episodes of this season, because of the Jalec tease and angst, and also for Simon's angsty family drama. Alberto is the best actor of this lackluster cast and made the most of those tearjerker scenes with his mother and sister. I hope the tease of Sizzy (the book canon pair) can get the ratings up for the second half season, because they kind of tanked for these 3 episodes.
by Anonymous | reply 209 | May 22, 2018 8:52 PM |
The fight between Jace and Alec in the last episode was hot. The way bad Jace was saying how good Jace was crying for Alec inside... Then bad Jace breaking Alec's hand/arm... It's just one big ball of Jalec angst, pain and torture. Kind of wish it was good Jace who fought his way out to save Alec, rather than Magnus coming to rescue..
by Anonymous | reply 210 | May 22, 2018 9:05 PM |
I liked the last three episodes EXCEPT for the stupid annoying "let's enter Jace's dreams" one (was that in the last three?) I hate that trope and it's boring in every show that does it, which is every show that has magic in it. I usually fast-forward through those scenes. The only fun part of that was them showing the room full of dead Clarys.
I'm also going to guess that because the mark was hit by Lilith that Simon is now free of the mark.
by Anonymous | reply 211 | May 23, 2018 9:03 AM |
It was also kind of cool when Asmodius yelled at Magnus and the entire room shook :D It's too bad the price couldn't have been Alec's shirts and pants. ALL OF THEM FOREVER. Because they're magic, or something, that's why.

Same R207.
by Anonymous | reply 213 | May 23, 2018 3:03 PM |

R211 The sequence in Jace's head was in episode 8. Alec should have been the only one to go inside Jace. Izzy was just getting in the way of their unrequited/forbidden man love. Imagine the naughty fantasy scenes Alec could have had a with a needy, broken Jace.
by Anonymous | reply 215 | May 23, 2018 8:51 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 221 | June 5, 2018 3:13 AM |
Kind of knew this was coming when I saw the falling ratings for the last 3 episodes (even thought they are the best part of this season). Well, at least the show is close to the end of the source material anyway. I think they have covered the story lines from 4 out of the 6 books up to this point in time. The rest of season 3 and the 2-h finale should pull everything together so the characters end up where they should.

Truth be told, many of the actors didn't seem to be all that into the show as they were in season one and two. You can even see the live tweeting get slacker with this season. With the ratings tanking, you would think they would do more promotion to get viewers more excited.

R236 Daddario is born to play gay! When he plays straight, his character always turns out to be a douchebag.
by Anonymous | reply 237 | June 6, 2018 4:37 PM |
R237 I don't think he was born to be an actor to begin with. He's hot but far from talented, gay roles or not...
And now that he's quite known and popular, even if he's comfortable with playing gay characters, I think he'll target bigger roles aka straight roles. Like the straight lead character, the straight romantic interest of the female lead, etc.
by Anonymous | reply 239 | June 8, 2018 10:21 AM |
He's already played the straight romantic lead in a movie. I don't think he'll be that interested in playing more gay roles. It's not that I think he has anything against playing gay but too many would lead to typecasting and people are already too involved in his personal life (despite being married to a woman.) He's not that talented but neither his sister (they seem like okay people in real life they just aren't very good actors) but she's managed a pretty long career so who knows. He's pretty enough to get more leading roles. I'd like to see Alberto in more stuff. He's expressed interest in movies so maybe he'll put his focus there.

R240 His sister has a career based mostly on her boobs. He's pretty than her. That and his height can get in the way of pairing him with female co-stars. And again his acting is wooden to say the least, so the best roles for him are the strong silent type. Superhero/action movies would be good. The more likely possibility is he will end up on some CW show.

He is not single. He's been in a relationship with someone named Esther Kim for several years. Their rings suggest they're married. Rumor has it that they got engaged at the end of 2016.
by Anonymous | reply 244 | June 8, 2018 10:54 PM |
R244 It is well known he has a serious gf from the beginning. They are attached at he hips when he's off from filming, so they might as well be married.
by Anonymous | reply 245 | June 8, 2018 11:06 PM |
But they're not.

Yes, they're married.

I had no idea this show was cancelled? But honey, that 9k won't cover the makeup expenses.
by Anonymous | reply 250 | June 15, 2018 9:43 PM |
I don't even think it's about expenses. I really don't think Freeform wants to bother with the show anymore. That's a 9,000 wasted on a show that isn't even that good to begin with. I'm hoping the few good actors can find better work. Isaiah is already going to be in the IT sequel. Let the actors move on to bigger / better things.
by Anonymous | reply 251 | June 15, 2018 10:57 PM |
9k might cover the cost of the guyliner and nail polish for Magnus.

[quote]Following the news that the show was cancelled, fans have raised about $20,000 for different charities, shared more than 10 million tweets with #SaveShadowhunters, and even hired a plane to fly over Netflix HQ in a bid to save the Mortal Instruments adaptation.
[quote]Now they've gone one step further and have taken out a billboard advert in none other than New York City's Times Square. The advert will appear from 3pm on Friday (June 29) on 42nd Street and 7th Avenue facing east and will last for a whole five minutes.
Overkill or just enough?

Giving money to LGBT charities for saving the job of that homophobic cast...
I just hope for the future of mankind that those fangirls will sterilize themselves.

Apparently, they're big in South Korea...
[quote]After collecting over 100,000 signatures, hiring a plane to fly over Netflix HQ and taking out a billboard ad in New York City's Time Square in their efforts to save the show, their latest stunt has taken the campaign global with a month-long subway ad in Seoul, South Korea.
[quote]The ad will be shown on two billboards, with each ad lasting a month. The first, located in Gwanghwamun Gate (and, if you were wondering, the Netflix team in Seoul is based in Gwanghwamun) went up today (July 11) and will run until August 10.
[quote]The second billboard goes up on Friday (July 13) and will run until August 12.

Feb 25, 2019 is when the remaining 10 “Season 3b” episodes and the 2hr finale are expected to start airing on Freeform in the US.
by Anonymous | reply 277 | January 2, 2019 5:54 PM |
Shadowhunters was a Netflix co-production to begin with, and since Netflix decided to cancel it, it was hard to see anyone else coming forward to save it. After all, usually it's Netflix who saves other companies' canceled series.

Trailer for 3B starting Feb 25th on Freeform for US, Feb 26th on Netflix for the rest of the world.

The only thing I will miss about the show is seeing Matthew Daddario play gay... His acting is meh but what eyecandy!
by Anonymous | reply 281 | February 17, 2019 5:37 AM |
Same R281. I want to see him play a gay character again. Maybe with a partner who doesn't look like he's disgusted when he's touching Matt, like Harry does.

It's already aired in some places, but Shadowhunters is back tonight.

New episode also now on Netflix outside the US.

Harry looked pretty good in this episode. Less stylized. Matt's a doll as usual.
by Anonymous | reply 285 | February 26, 2019 8:03 PM |
Raphael looking great as always. Wish he wasn't covered up.
Also he probably isn't the best looking guy, but I thought Luke Baines as Jonathan was cute.

The actor playing Cain is pretty hot when he's not all covered up

Malec training scene. They are still reviving some of the fangirls (and -boys).
by Anonymous | reply 289 | March 5, 2019 8:12 PM |
Apparently, Cassandra Clare is about to publish the first of three planned books about Alec and Magnus that slot into a blank part of her original series.
by Anonymous | reply 292 | March 29, 2019 9:04 PM |
So I just finished skimming through this video and it completely boggles my mind that the fangirls believe that the actress who plays Clary is dating Luke Baines because it took like 2 minutes of hearing him speak to see that he's incredibly fucking gay.
by Anonymous | reply 294 | April 3, 2019 7:28 AM |
R294 That is literally textbook purse falls out of his mouth! His looks menacing but his mannerism is as fey as could be. But Kat is a big fag hag according to gossips, so she often gets mistaken as dating the gay she hangs out with.

Like a gum chewing Gen-Z Jonathan Harris.
by Anonymous | reply 296 | April 3, 2019 8:35 AM |
R295 Makes sense. She was the same way with Will Tudor (also seems gay af) and Ben Lewis from 'Arrow' (he's openly gay so most fangirls don't think they're screwing, though unfortunately there is still some who "ship" them.)
Also kinda funny how all 3 of these guys play/played her brother in both shows.
by Anonymous | reply 297 | April 3, 2019 9:01 AM |
Will Tudor was actually Dom's friend first from back in the UK.

Harry Shum Jr. is such a bad actor - his line delivery always makes me cringe. This new episode is particularly painful to watch seeing him try to act but shirtless Alberto nearly makes up for it.

by Anonymous | reply 308 | May 7, 2019 8:15 AM |
R308 Yeah, that was a low point indeed and soured my feeling about the show. I wonder if it had anything to do with Netflix decision to cut the show. They could have milked it for another season since there is definitely more stories to tell in the Shadowhunters world. It's kind of a waste to throw out all the work put into building up the world over three seasons.
by Anonymous | reply 309 | May 7, 2019 8:30 AM |
The cast is not homophobic. It was one stupid mistake by one guy who apologized over and over for what he said.
From what I understand from the people behind the Save Shadowhunters campaign and from farewell interviews with showrunners and cast this last week : they were promised a season 4. The actors were on thiatus but the showrunners, the writers-room and location manager were in Toronto prepping. Plotlines were mapoed out and some of the script were written. Matthew and his wife just moved to Toronto for the rest of filming.
Freeflop then decides they want only 10 episodes for S4, but asked Netflix for the same amount of money for the international rights as for S3. with 20 eps. Netflix refused and wanted 20 eps. Freeflop said no. Netflix asked to buy the rights from Freeflop and Constantine so they could make SH themselves because it does very well internationally for them. Constantine said OK, Netflix said no. By that time there was already bad blood between them with Disney (Freeflop parent) starting their own streaming service and removing their content from Netflix.
So Netflix withdrew their financing, Constantine and Freeflop couldn't do it on their own, so Freeflop cancelled the series. Constantine wants to sell their part of the rights to another production company but Freeflop is refusing to sell the rights making it impossible for the series to be picked up by somebody else.
The Metro interview below is the history of the series . Interesting but rather long.
by Anonymous | reply 310 | May 7, 2019 9:25 AM |
R310 Sounds like the whole problem started with Freeform/Disney trying to change the deal... of course, in their statement, Freeform was all like they wanted to continue the show and blamed Netflix for pulling out instead.
by Anonymous | reply 311 | May 7, 2019 9:53 AM |
I know he's hot r310 but calling your colleagues "fags" at work is kind of homophobic. And he only apologized once. Because he was caught.
